Refugees are often confused with migrant workers or immigrants. In Ukraine they are also called “zarobitchane”. The difference is significant: a labor migrant moves across states solely for the purpose of paid work. And refugees leave the country in which they permanently resided due to emergency circumstances . They had no other choice.

In 1951, the Geneva Convention relating to the Status of Refugees was adopted, which sets out the necessary standards for their treatment. This document prohibits the expulsion or forced return of people with refugee status; provides them with the right to go to court, the right to education, social security, housing and freedom of movement.

Today, the refugee situation in many countries has become an international humanitarian problem. Ukraine, by virtue of its geographical location- a restraining barrier between the countries of the south-eastern region and Europe.

Most of them (55.5%) are from Afghanistan, 28.8% are citizens of the former Soviet Union, 13% are refugees from Africa (Congo, Sudan, Ethiopia, Angola and other African states), just over one percent are refugees from Syria, Iraq, Iran and other countries in Asia and Europe. About 45% of recognized refugees live in Kyiv, 25% in Odessa, as well as in Kharkov, Lvov, and other regions of the state.

Ukraine has signed the Geneva Convention relating to the Status of Refugees, and a law on refugees has been in force here since 1994. In the same year, a representative office of UNHCR (United Nations Refugee Agency) was opened.

Not a cool topic

— There are indeed very relevant and fashionable topics in charity. Refugees in this sense are not a cool topic. This is remembered once a year and then rarely. And if anyone decides to help refugees, he will encounter situations where he will not receive help or encouragement from the media or, especially, from the state. Using our foundation as an example, I can say that sometimes we hear reproaches that we have “gone fat on foreign grants” and are helping “who knows who.” Ukraine is unique in this regard, since, unlike other countries (even Belarus and Moldova), it does not have state program support and protection of refugees. This falls entirely on the expenditure side of UNHCR and the European Union. Since 2009, the Local Integration Program for Refugees has been operating in Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova, which includes costs for training, grants for refugees, and their employment. I would say that we help not only refugees, but also the state of Ukraine to realize its declared obligations.

What needs to be done to obtain refugee status in Ukraine?

It is necessary to immediately, when crossing the state border, write an application to the migration service for refugee status. But this means that the person who wrote will only receive a certificate proving his identity, and he will belong to the category asylum seekers. He may wait a very long time for refugee status or not receive it at all. This is influenced by many factors - and these clarifications are for the migration service, but we help people survive in our country.

There are times when people who enter a country are unable to apply for refugee status or subsidiary protection. But as soon as we become aware of such facts, UNHCR and its partners contact the border service, call the migration service, and help write an application for refugee status.

By and large, a state that has signed the Convention and does not accept a refugee’s application is violating this Convention. UNHCR and implementing partners are committed to ensuring that the State adheres to international refugee law and that the social and legal climate for refugees in Ukraine improves.

If a person turns up at our office door on a Friday evening and says: “I have nowhere to live and nowhere to go” - and this is a fairly typical case - then none of the employees go home either. Social workers call the community and ask them to take them for at least a few days, a month, out of the kindness of their hearts.

We provide food, basic necessities, and clothing. Those who came with children also received baby food. But these resources are extremely limited. A person who comes to us will neither be hungry nor cold. We have mattresses and blankets in a separate room - just for such cases when the family can take him in, but there are no beds. We take him to where we agreed on at least an overnight stay. Then we look for work, again we look for housing...

Do people waiting to receive status receive medical assistance or is this also a matter for the fund?

Those who have documents proving their identity - and this may be a certificate received from the migration service - have the same rights as citizens of Ukraine. Only we have not yet eradicated xenophobia. You have to go to the clinic hand in hand with the person and explain to the doctors all their responsibilities and the rights of refugees.

We cooperate with human rights organizations that legally support these people and resolve all difficult situations. But these lawyers also receive payment for their work from the European Union.

Most often or almost always, people need income and they go to the markets. Their life is quite monotonous before receiving refugee status. But once this status is obtained, the person can become a participant in the integration program. It includes language training, he receives a scholarship and travel expenses.

And those who have not yet received refugee status - do they learn the language at the bazaars?

At the bazaars they all learn both the language and the peculiarities of our life. It is possible to learn the language at our integration center, but these courses do not provide a certificate of completion. And the course that those who have received the status take is of a higher level, at a state university. After such courses, the refugee receives a certificate stating that he speaks the language at a level sufficient for communication, and can even apply for citizenship if he wants to stay here for a long time. And, of course, this helps in finding a job. But the situation is contradictory: they are looking for work in the same markets, as laborers, because they can get a job in their specialty for a person who does not have work book, experience is difficult. And work in the market is the only thing they can find without our help.

Twice Heroes

— Very often, refugees are deceived by smugglers - those who illegally transport people to other countries. They promise them Germany, the Balkan countries, France - and take the corresponding money for moving. And they come to the border with Ukraine and say – that’s it, we’ve arrived – Germany. And people are left without money, without documents, without language - they don’t even understand where they are. Unfortunately, such people will no longer get to Europe, except under the family reunification program - if one of their relatives is already in another country. The Red Cross is looking for such connections. And Europe today is very strict about any illegal border crossings. Europe could even return refugees to Ukraine under the Readmission Treaty.

And among these people there are real heroes who realize themselves in our country. The main trump card is knowledge of several languages. Just imagine - we trained them Ukrainian language, and at the same time they know English, French, Portuguese, Persian, Arabic, Farsi. Among the unique ones - for example, Lingala. These are irreplaceable guides and translators for travel agencies. However, they are hired infrequently because, let me emphasize again, the xenophobia of our employers prevents them from realizing what benefits this can bring. UNHCR helps to acquire a profession or restore one’s lost specialty, qualifications, or skills. In the same “President Hotel” we also have a cook from Uganda - Valvas, he is a candidate of economic sciences. He started by washing dishes, then became an assistant cook. But when the retraining program was started, he received a new full-fledged profession. And now he is already an assistant chef!

And how often do you get such positive stories?

So we talked about social status. An Afghan woman worked in her homeland as a gynecologist. Her husband, a lawyer, was a prominent political figure. When the coup happened in Afghanistan, they, like many of their compatriots, fled from the Taliban to Ukraine. And this prominent judge worked for many years as a loader in the market. His wife, Jalila, stayed at home with the children. But she had a dream - to work in her profession again. And even when she received status and learned the language, she still would not have been accepted into medicine, since she did not know many innovations. And most importantly, her diploma is outdated. And in March 2009, the Local Integration Project for Refugees began to be implemented, in which one of the points includes assistance in nostrification of diplomas. She came with all her diplomas, and together we went through these circles of hell - exams, academic differences, special language courses with medical terms. She is now 40 years old, and she has not worked for 15 years, but thanks to her perseverance, today she is already completing an internship and working in a maternity hospital, although not yet as a doctor. UNHCR helped her partially pay for the internship, but the internship costs 49 thousand hryvnia ( about 200 thousand rubles at the exchange rate as of June 20, 2012. - Ed.). And Jalila spins as best she can. Plus children who are still studying themselves and my husband is not well. But she is moving towards her goal, confirming her qualifications, and it will be another miracle when she accepts the first patient and will benefit Ukraine.

Another important mission of the local integration program is to provide grants for refugees to start their own businesses. They study, write business plans in their free time from their main work, and we meet with them for this when it is convenient for them - on any day and time. Then a competition is held, and the UNHCR management chooses who to give the start-up capital.

There is an entrepreneur who rents beach sets and equipment. At first, he himself worked for a long time on the Black Sea coast for a beach director, and now, when a business grant program appeared, he wrote a business plan and received funds to rent umbrellas, sun loungers, and sun loungers. But our most striking story is the guys from Ethiopia. They received a grant for coffee processing and packaging equipment. And in Ethiopia, coffee is a strategic raw material. UNHCR purchased this equipment for them. But they themselves rented the premises, made repairs there and generally put it in order, installed the equipment, purchased the raw materials themselves, fried them, mixed them and sold them to distributors.

I call such people twice as heroes. Firstly, they managed to survive when they fled their country. What they experience on the way, not even all of them tell, because such a thing cannot be told without the listener’s heart stopping from horror... And, secondly, they managed to arrange their life here, in Ukraine, with its laws , difficulties, crises. And not only arrange, but also open at least a small, but your own business, thereby filling the country’s budget.

This is also a substitution of the moral guidelines of society, depriving it of a national idea. This includes encouraging the migration to Russia of racially alien immigrants from Central Asia, Far East, Transcaucasia, promotion of interracial marriages.

At the beginning of 1915, Armenian soldiers in the Turkish army received a new status. They suddenly discovered that now, instead of serving... as artillerymen and cavalrymen, they began to be used as beasts of burden.

The whole burden of supplies for the army fell on them, and, staggering under the weight of the load, driven by the whips and bayonets of the Turks, they had to, overcoming fatigue, trudge with difficulty to the Caucasus mountains. Sometimes they, burdened with their burden, had to make their way through the snow, which completely covered them. In fact, they were forced to be on the ground all the time. outdoors and sleep on the bare ground, if their overseers, constantly waking them up with bayonet thrusts, did not deprive them of this opportunity. They were fed only garbage; if they were unable to rise from weakness, then they were left where they lay, and their Turkish oppressors lingered, of course, only to steal things - they even took clothes. If any of the soldiers who were lagging behind on the way managed to get to their destination, then they were not killed only in in rare cases. More often than not, however, Armenian soldiers were killed much earlier, since it had become common practice to shoot them in cold blood. In almost all cases the same procedure was followed. Here and there parties of 50-100 people were gathered, tied together in groups of 4 and then taken to a secluded place not far from the village. Suddenly the air shook with the sound of gunfire, and the Turkish soldiers accompanying them soon returned to the camp. Those who were sent to bury the corpses of the dead almost always found them completely naked, since the Turks, as a rule, took off all their clothes. In some cases known to me, murderers exacerbated the suffering of their victims by forcing them to dig their own graves before execution.

Allow me to refer to an episode contained in one of the reports of our consuls and included in the reports of the US State Department. At the beginning of July, 2 thousand Armenian “amele” - as the Turks call soldiers who were turned into workers - were sent from Kharberd to build roads. The Armenians, the inhabitants of this city, understood what this meant and turned to the governor with a request to spare the soldiers. But this official said they needn't worry; he even asked the German missionary Mr. Echemann to dispel the panic by giving him his word of honor that the former soldiers would have protection. Mr. Eheman believed the governor and dispelled the fears of the people. But in reality, all these 2 thousand people were killed, and their bodies were thrown into the abyss. Only a few people escaped, and thanks to them the news of this massacre became known to the world. A few days after this, another 2 thousand soldiers were sent to Diyarbakir. The sole purpose of sending these people outside settlements was their murder. To ensure that they did not have the strength to resist or escape, these poor people were subjected to systematic starvation. Government agents were ahead of these parties, notifying the Kurds that the caravan was approaching, and ordering them to carry out the task assigned to them... Throughout Turkey, efforts were made to systematically exterminate all healthy men, not only to destroy the entire male population capable of reproducing a new generation Armenians, but also in order to make this part of the population defenseless.

As horrific as these killings of unarmed soldiers were, they were much more merciful than the brutal treatment of Armenians suspected of hiding weapons. Naturally, Christians were alarmed when orders were posted in villages and cities demanding that they hand over all their weapons to the authorities at their place of residence. Although this order applied to all residents, the Armenians were well aware of what could happen if they remained unarmed in the neighborhood of Muslims, who were allowed to keep weapons with them. In many cases, however, the persecuted people obediently carried out the order, and then the Turkish authorities almost gleefully displayed these guns as proof that a "revolt" was in preparation, and threw their victims into prison on charges of treason. Thousands of people were unable to bring weapons simply because they did not have them; at the same time, a still larger number of people stubbornly refused to surrender their arms, not because they were planning a riot, but because they intended to defend their lives, as well as the honor of their wives, from the attacks which, as they knew, were already being prepared. The punishments to which these disobedients were subjected form one of the most disgusting chapters modern history. Most of us believe that torture has long ceased to be an administrative or judicial measure, but I do not think that in the darkest eras more terrible scenes were observed than those that now took place throughout Turkey. For Turkish policemen, nothing was sacred; under the pretext of searching for hidden weapons, they broke into churches, treated altars and sacred utensils with extreme disdain, and even staged mock ceremonies imitating Christian sacraments. They beat the priests senseless, accusing them of being the instigators of the rebellion. When the police failed to find weapons in churches, they sometimes armed bishops and priests with rifles, pistols and sabers, and then court-martialed them for allegedly illegal possession of weapons, and in this form they were paraded through the streets with the express purpose of arousing the fanatical wrath of the crowd. The police treated the women just as cruelly and indecently as the men. Cases are described in which women accused of concealing weapons were stripped naked and beaten with twigs freshly cut from trees, and even pregnant women were subjected to this punishment. These searches for weapons were so often accompanied by abuse of women that Armenian women and girls, when approached by police, usually ran into the forests, hid in the mountains or in mountain caves.

The prelude to this search, in all villages and cities, was the arrest and imprisonment of all able-bodied men. Their tormentors showed diabolical ingenuity in trying to get their victims to declare themselves “rebels” and indicate the location where the weapons were hidden. Usually the prisoner was placed in a room where two Turks stood on either side of him. The torture began with blows to the heels. This form of torture was hitherto unknown in the East; it involves striking the soles of the feet with a thin rod. At first the pain is insignificant, but as the process of beating continues methodically, it turns into the most terrible suffering, the feet swell and burn as if from fire, and there are often cases when, after such torture, they have to be amputated. The police beat their Armenian victim on the heels until he loses consciousness; then, splashing water on his face, they revive him and continue the torture again. If they were unable to force their victim to confess in this way, then they used numerous other methods of torture. They pulled out eyebrows and beards, nails, burned the chest with a red-hot iron, tore out pieces of meat with hot tongs, and then poured hot oil on the wounds. In some cases, the police nailed hands and feet to pieces of wood, apparently imitating the crucifixion of Christ, and while their victims writhed in agony, they shouted to them: “Now may your Christ come and help you.”

These and other cruelties, which I refrain from describing, were usually committed at night. The Turks positioned themselves around the prisons, beating drums and whistling so that the cries of suffering people would not reach the residents of the villages.

In thousands of cases, Armenians endured this torture and refused to surrender their weapons simply because they had nothing to surrender. However, they could not convince their tormentors of this. Therefore, it became a custom for Armenians on the eve of searches to buy weapons from their Turkish neighbors in order to hand them over to the authorities in order to avoid such terrible punishments.

Once, regarding what was happening, I had a conversation with a responsible Turkish official, who told me about the torture used. He did not hide the fact that the government approved of them, and, like all Turks from the ruling class, he himself warmly approved of such treatment of the people he hated. The official said that all the details of the torture were discussed at a night meeting at the headquarters of the Union and Progress Party committee. Each new method of inflicting pain is regarded as a superb discovery, and officials are constantly racking their brains to invent some new torture. He told me that they even consulted the reports of the Spanish Inquisition and other historical institutions regarding torture and adopted everything they found there. He did not tell me who won the prize in this terrible competition, but the strong reputation which Djevdet Bey, the Vali of Van, whose activities in this region I have already related, gained for himself throughout Armenia, gives him the right to superiority in unprecedented meanness. Throughout the country, Cevdet was known as the “horseshoe maker of Bashkale”, as this expert in torture invented what was, of course, a masterpiece, the best ever known: it was he who tapped horse shoes to the feet of his Armenian victims.

But still these cases were only part of what the newspapers usually called Armenian horrors; they were only preparatory steps in the destruction of the nation.

The Young Turks showed greater ingenuity than their predecessor Abdülhamid. The deposed Sultan simply ordered “kill, kill,” while Turkish democracy acted according to a completely new plan. Instead of openly slaughtering Armenians, they decided to expel them. In the south and southeast of the Ottoman Empire are the Syrian Desert and the Mesopotamian Valley. Although part of this area was once an area of ​​\u200b\u200bprosperous civilization, during the last five centuries everything here has fallen into decay, which was generally the lot of any country that fell under Turkish rule; now a deserted desert stretched here without cities and villages or any other signs of life... Only the most diligent workers, after spending many years, could turn this desert into a place suitable for the permanent habitation of any significant number of people. The central government now announced its intention to collect over 2 million Armenians from several areas of the empire and transport them to this desolate and inhospitable area. Even if it had undertaken such a relocation with good intentions, this would have been the height of cruelty and injustice. But the fact is that the Turks never thought about allowing the Armenians to improve their lives in this new country. They knew that the vast majority of them would never reach their destination, and those who did would either die of thirst and hunger or be killed by savage Islamic tribes. The true purpose of the deportation was robbery and destruction; this was really just a new method of massacre. When the Turkish authorities ordered these expulsions, they were effectively passing a death sentence on an entire people; They understood this perfectly well and in conversations with me they did not make any special attempts to hide this fact. The deportation took place throughout the spring and summer of 1915. It did not affect only the big cities - Constantinople, Smyrna and Aleppo; yet other places where there was at least one Armenian family became the scene of indescribable tragedies. Hardly any exceptions were made for even one Armenian, regardless of his education, wealth or class. In some villages, one or two days before the deportation, orders were posted obliging the entire Armenian population to report to specific place at the appointed hour, and in other places the town crier walked through the streets and read out the order. In some places there was not the slightest warning about this.

Policemen appeared in front of the Armenian house and ordered all its inhabitants to follow them. Women busy with their housework were taken away without giving them the opportunity to change their clothes. The police appeared in front of them as unexpectedly as the eruption of Vesuvius was unexpected for Pompeii. Women were torn from their troughs, children were kicked straight out of bed, bread was left half-baked in the oven, family meals were left unfinished, children were taken straight out of schoolrooms leaving their textbooks open, men were forced to abandon their plows in the middle of the field and leave their cattle in the mountains. Even women who had just given birth were forced to get out of bed and walk with their newborn children in their arms. Of their household belongings, people managed to quickly take with them only a shawl, a blanket and, perhaps, some food. To their frantic questioning, “Where are we going?” The gendarmes honored them with only one answer: “To the internal regions of the country.”

In some cases, the evictees were given several hours and, in exceptional cases, several days to dispose of their property and household items. But what happened after that amounted to open robbery. They could sell things only to the Turks, and since both the buyer and the seller knew that the goods accumulated over a lifetime had to be sold in one or two days, the sale took place at prices that were only a small fraction of the real value of the things. A sewing machine was sold for $1 or $2, a cow for $1, and the furnishings of an entire house for meager pennies. In many cases, the Armenians were prohibited from selling and the Turks from buying, even at these ridiculously low prices, under the pretext that the government allegedly intended to sell these household items in order to pay the creditors of the Armenians. Their furniture was transported to warehouses or exhibited in public places, where they were plundered by the Turks. Government officials warned the Armenians that since the deportation was a temporary measure and they would return at the end of the war, they were not allowed to sell their homes. But before the former owners of the houses had time to leave the village, Mohammedan migrants from other regions of Turkey moved into their apartments. Similarly, all the valuables of the Armenians - money, rings, watches and jewelry - were taken by the police, supposedly for “safe storage” until their owners returned, and then distributed among the Turks. But this robbery caused comparatively less suffering to the deportees, for they had to see much more terrible and heartbreaking things. The systematic extermination of men continued. Those men who survived during previous executions were also subjected to destruction, as discussed above. A practice was established when, even before the caravan departed, young men were separated from their families, tied together in groups of four, taken to the outskirts of the village and shot there. Mass executions without trial occurred continuously; the only guilt of these victims was that they were Armenians. The police showed particular passion for the destruction of educated and influential people. I received continuous reports of such executions from American consuls and missionaries, and many of the events they described will never be erased from my memory. In Angora, all Armenian men between the ages of 15 and 70 were arrested, tied up in groups of 4 and taken along the road towards Caesarea. When they reached a secluded valley five or six hours later, they were attacked by a mob... with clubs, hammers, axes, scythes, shovels and saws. The mentioned instruments not only contributed to a more painful death than rifles and pistols, but, as the Turks themselves boasted, they were more economical, since there was no need to waste gunpowder and bullets. In this way they destroyed the entire male population of Angora, including rich and educated men, and their terribly mutilated bodies were left in the valley to be devoured by wild animals... In Trebizond, the men were put into boats and sent to the Black Sea. There were policemen in the boats with them, who shot them and threw their corpses into the water.

Therefore, when the signal was given for the departure of caravans, they almost always consisted exclusively of women, children and old people. Anyone who wanted to save them from the fate that awaited them would be killed on the spot. When the caravan set off, the head of the city often ironically wished them a “pleasant journey.” Sometimes, before the caravan departed, women were asked to accept the Mohammedan faith. But even in those cases when some agreed to this, their earthly torment did not end. The new convert was forced to send her children to the so-called “Muslim orphanage” and, as proof of the sincerity of her conversion to another faith, agree that they should be educated there. She was also required to marry a Muslim. If none of the Mohammedans proposed marriage to her, then she was sent into exile, regardless of her acceptance of Islam... The caravans of these unfortunates moved from thousands of Armenian cities and villages, blocking all the roads leading to the south; As they advanced, they left behind a huge cloud of dust and abandoned remains of things: chairs, blankets, bed linen, household utensils and other things that got in their way, as if marking their path. When the caravans first started moving, people still looked like human beings, but after a few hours the dust of the road covered their faces and clothes, mud stuck to their feet, and a slowly moving crowd of people, often bent over with fatigue or driven mad by the cruelty of their “protectors” , resembled a variety of some new and strange animals. During all six months - from April to October 1915 - the most convenient for movement, all the roads of Asia Minor were actually filled with these terrible crowds of exiles. They could be seen in the valleys, in the mountains, walking to an unknown destination, only understanding that any road leads them to death. In dire circumstances, as described in detail above, the Armenian population left village after village, city after city. As far as we can determine, about 1.2 million people made this terrible journey into the Syrian desert over six months.

“Pray for us,” they said, leaving their hearths where their ancestors lived about 2,500 years ago. “We won’t see each other again in this world, but we will meet someday.” Pray for us!”

Before the Armenians had time to leave their native villages, new torments began. The roads along which they had to walk were little wider than a donkey's path, and what a few hours before had been a kind of orderly procession turned into a disorderly crowd of people. Women were separated from their children, and husbands from their wives. The old people soon lost contact with their families and, quickly getting tired, began to tire their legs. The Turks, the drivers of oxcarts, obtained the last money of their employers through extortion, unexpectedly dropped them off and, throwing their belongings on the road, returned to their villages for other victims. Thus, in a short time, virtually everyone - both young and old - was forced to walk. The gendarmes, whom the government supposedly assigned to protect the deportees, became their tormentors within a few hours. They followed their victims with drawn bayonets, urging with them anyone who showed any intention of slowing down, and those who tried to rest or fell from fatigue on the road were forced with boundless cruelty to catch up with the moving crowd. They even bayoneted pregnant women; if some of them, as often happened, gave birth on the road, they were forced to immediately get up and move on...

The brutality of the police increased, apparently because the journey was delayed, they seemed to be outraged that some of their victims were still alive.

Often the police would bayonet anyone who fell on the road. Armenians died in hundreds from hunger and thirst. Even when they approached the rivers, the gendarmes did not allow them to drink in order to torture them. The hot rays of the desert sun burned their half-naked bodies, and their bare feet hurt so much from the hot desert sand that thousands of people fell and died on the spot or were killed where they fell. Thus, after a few days, what had been a procession of normal human beings became a wandering crowd of dust-covered skeletons, greedily seeking food, eating any refuse that came their way, driven mad by the horrors that filled their every hour. existence, suffering from all the diseases that accompany such difficulties and deprivations, but still driven by the whips, butts and bayonets of their tormentors.

As they advanced, they left behind another caravan - a caravan of dead and unburied corpses of old men and women who had died in the last stages of typhoid, dysentery and cholera, small children lying on their backs and uttering their last pitiful cry for food and water. Some women held out their children strangers, begging to be taken and saved from their tormentors, and, having received a refusal, they threw them into wells or left them in the bushes, in order to be able to at least die in peace. Girls were sold into slavery, often for about 8 cents... A chain of camps overflowing with sick and dying people lying mixed with unburied or half-buried corpses marked the path of the moving crowds. They were constantly followed by flocks of vultures flying in the air and wild dogs, which, together with the vultures, attacked the corpses of the dead. The most terrible scenes took place near the rivers, especially the Euphrates. Sometimes, during the crossing, the police pushed women into the water, shooting everyone who, swimming to the shore, tried to escape. Often women saved their honor by throwing themselves into the river with children in their arms. I will quote a passage from the consul's report: “In the last week of June, several parties were sent into exile from Erzurum in succession, and most of these people were killed on the way; they were either shot or drowned. Madame Zaruhi, elderly rich lady, thrown into the Euphrates, saved herself by clinging to an underwater rock. She managed to reach the shore, return to Erzurum and hide there in the house of her Turkish friends. She told Prince Argutinsky, the representative of the All-Russian Union of Cities in Erzurum, that she could not remember without shuddering how hundreds of children were bayoneted by the Turks and thrown into the waters of the Euphrates and how men and women, stripped naked and tied together in hundreds, were shot and thrown into river She said that in one place near Erznka, where the Euphrates makes a turn, thousands of corpses formed a kind of dam, so that the river deviated from its channel by about a hundred meters.”

The assurances of the Turkish government that it allegedly seriously intended to resettle the Armenians to new places are absurd; the nature of the treatment of the escorts clearly shows that the true goal of Enver and Talaat was the destruction of the Armenians. How many of those resettled to the south reached their destination under such outrageous conditions? The example of one caravan shows how cleverly this plan of deportation was transformed into a plan of extermination. The details in question were communicated to me directly from the American Consul in Aleppo, and these documents are now in the State Department in Washington. On June 1, an escorted party of 3 thousand Armenians, mainly women, girls and children, left Kharberd. Following their usual practice, the government sent with them an escort of 70 gendarmes under the command of the Turkish Bey.

Practice has already shown that these police did not behave at all as defenders of the deportees, but rather as their tormentors and executioners. Before the caravan had time to set off, the bey collected 400 liras from the deportees, supposedly in order to more reliably protect them until they arrived in Malatia; having taken from them the only thing that could provide them with food on the road, he fled, leaving them at the mercy of the police.

All the way to Rasul Ain, which became the first stop on the Baghdad line, the life of these unfortunate deportees was one of sheer horror. The police rode ahead of the caravan, warning the semi-wild mountain tribes that several thousand Armenian women and girls were approaching. The girls began to be kidnapped... The caravan was attacked by the mountaineers, who raped and killed the women, and the police themselves joined this wild orgy. Several men from the caravan were killed one after another...

Finally, having had enough of robberies, beatings, violence and murders of their victims after thirty days, the police completely abandoned them. Two days later, the Kurds attacked this party and drove together all the surviving men, who turned out to be about 150 people aged from 15 to 90 years; They were immediately taken aside and killed every last one. But on the same day, another party from Sebastia joined the party coming from Kharberd, thereby increasing the number of the caravan to 18 thousand people...

For the next five days they did not see a piece of bread or a drop of water. “Hundreds of people died along the way,” the report says, “their tongues became like pieces of charcoal, and when five days later they approached the source, naturally the whole party rushed to it. But here the police, blocking their path, did not give them the opportunity to drink even a drop of water. They intended to sell the water at a price of one to three liras per cup, and sometimes, after receiving the money, they refused to give the water. In another place where there were wells, women threw themselves straight into the wells, since there was no rope or bucket to draw water. They drowned in wells, and although their corpses remained there, people still drank water from these wells... When these people, completely naked, walked past an Arab village, the Arabs, taking pity on them, gave them scraps of old clothes so that they could cover your nakedness. Some of the deportees who still had money bought themselves some clothes, but still many walked naked all the way to the city of Aleppo. The poor women, ashamed of their nakedness, could hardly walk: they all walked bent double.”

On the seventeenth day these poor creatures reached Aleppo. Of the combined caravan of 18 thousand people, only 150 women and children reached their destination. Some of the most attractive survivors became prisoners of the Kurds and Turks, but the rest died.

I did not tell the most terrible details, since a complete description of these sadistic orgies, the victims of which were Armenian men and women, cannot possibly be published in any American publication. This unfortunate, doomed people experienced daily all the crimes that the perverted instinct of the human mind can invent, and all the refined tortures and torments that the richest imagination can imagine. I am sure that in the entire history of mankind there are no such number of terrifying facts. The great massacres and persecutions seen in the past seem almost insignificant compared to the suffering of the Armenian people in 1915. The massacre of the Albigenses at the beginning of the 13th century has always been considered one of the saddest events in history. During this outbreak of fanaticism, about 60 thousand people were killed. On St. Bartholomew's Night, about 30 thousand human beings lost their lives. During the "Sicilian Vespers", which always appears as one of the most brutal outbreaks of violence, 8 thousand people were killed. Entire volumes have been written about the Spanish Inquisition of Torquemada's time, and yet during his eighteen years in power, a little over 8 thousand heretics were executed. It is possible that the deportation of the Armenians is most reminiscent of only one event: the expulsion of the Jews from Spain by Ferdinand and Isabella. According to Prescott, 160 thousand people were expelled from their homes and scattered throughout Africa and Europe. However, all these persecutions seem insignificant in comparison with the suffering of the Armenians, among whom at least 600 thousand, and possibly 1 million, were killed.

War against Russian civilization

The origins of the demographic catastrophe should be sought in the policies that are still being pursued by the liberal forces that captured Russia in 1991, which in essence are the conductors of the long-term strategy of the Western masters to destroy the white race and Russian civilization.

The masters of Western civilization - the so-called. “financial international”, “world behind the scenes”, the union of the old aristocratic families of the Old World and usurious clans are creating a new world order on the planet. They need to gain complete control over man and humanity - up to the introduction of “electronic collars” in the future. And for this it is necessary to destroy the natural division of humanity into races, civilizations, language groups, and ethnic groups. An ideal slave should not have racial, linguistic, cultural, civilizational or national roots. This must be Homo economicus - economic man. A person who lives only by profit, instincts, strives for maximum profit, is selfish and ruthless. Such a person will be a “building block” of a huge neo-slave civilization.

As part of this strategy, it is necessary to solve the “Russian question” - to destroy the main geopolitical enemy on Earth, Russian civilization and the superethnos of the Rus. Due to the fighting qualities of the Rus, Russian civilization has spiritual and military potential, the ability to become the “king of the hill” and lead the process of globalization. Moreover, Russia can create a different model of world order on the planet, which will preserve racial, ethnic and cultural diversity. However, Russia in the 1930-1950s showed a different image of the future of humanity. The main values ​​of such a society are service to the Motherland and creation, accumulation of comprehensive knowledge. Comprehensive education and high morality were the goals of Soviet society. Material goods were a form of means, not an end. Suffice it to recall the dream of the iron leader, which he expressed at the 19th Party Congress: every Soviet person should have two higher educations. And in 1952, Joseph Vissarionovich expressed the idea that in the future, a Soviet person should devote no more than 4-5 hours a day to work, and the rest of the time he could devote to self-education, culture, creativity and physical culture.

Stalin needed an educated and spiritually developed civil society. With such people it was possible to build a “golden age society.” That is why in the Stalinist USSR managers, creators, warriors and workers were promoted to the first roles. It is they, and not traders (“business elite”), actors and jesters, “stars” who never leave TV screens, who make up the real elite of civilization. Stalinist architecture (new imperial style), cinema (pre-war, war and post-war films), art, educational policy - everything was aimed at shaping a person with a capital “M”.

If the USSR had continued to move along the main path outlined by Stalin for another two or three decades, the planet would have seen the birth of a new civilization capable of leading humanity to the stars. Even after the removal of Stalin, Khrushchev’s “thaw” (the first attempt at “perestroika”), Brezhnev’s “stagnation” in the USSR, one could see the embryo of this civilization. Its manifestations are Gagarin, Korolev, Keldysh, spacecraft like the Buran, magnificent space and military developments, due to which the modern Russian military-industrial complex maintains its place in the group of world leaders.

The owners of the Western project, possessing conceptual power and will, saw and felt all this perfectly. They closely followed every step of the Stalinist USSR. To destroy the Stalinist project, Hitler was nurtured and the infernal Third Reich was created. The Nazis were allowed to use psychotechnology, which within a few years turned the Germans into an excellent fighting machine. Almost all of Europe was given to Hitler, and his legions were abandoned to eradicate the sprout of the “golden age society.” In this case, the Germans played the role of a “fool” who was used as a tool. But the Russian superethnos cannot be defeated in open battle. The Russians are a people of creators and warriors who have dominated Northern Eurasia for thousands of years, since the times of the Aryans and Scythians (the direct ancestors of the Rus). Since 1991, the destruction of another achievement of the USSR began - science and education. Soviet education retained the potential for building a just society. Suffice it to recall the statements of some Russian officials, including the heads of the Ministry of Education and the honest admission of the leader of the LDPR, that there should be as few literate people, people with higher education, in Russia as possible, since they can start a new revolution. They can be understood. The more educated and smart people are, the higher their claims against the state. Stupid people and drunkards are much easier to control. True, such a society will ultimately face destruction.

You can pay attention to the fact that under Stalin, thousands of seven-year and secondary (complete) schools were built in the USSR. Every village, even a small one, had a seven-year plan. The results began to show very quickly: in 1954, the world's first industrial nuclear power plant was launched in Obninsk; In 1957, the USSR launched the world's first artificial satellite; in the same year, the Union launched the world's first surface vessel with a nuclear power plant, the nuclear icebreaker "Lenin"; in 1971, the Soviet people launched the world's first manned orbital station - Salyut-1, and in 1986 the world's first orbital station modular type"Mir" (Salyut-8). The last two-plus decades of the history of the Russian Federation have been practically wasted. Nothing to be proud of. Even military developments are entirely modernizations of Soviet projects. The current advertising for the 2014 Olympics only emphasizes the wretchedness of life modern Russia and a brilliant Soviet past. The consumer society and the society of creation and knowledge are like two different universes. Tens of billions are buried and stolen for fun. Thousands of schools, kindergartens and other educational, educational and cultural institutions have been “optimized” (destroyed). Thousands of settlements disappeared from the face of the earth.

It was 1991, when liberal forces seized power in the country, that led to a demographic disaster. Liberals act as real occupiers, seize (privatize) those industries that can bring profits to their accomplices - the oligarchs, destroy those systems that cannot bring them quick profits, “optimize” science, education, and culture. At the same time, the population is subjected to drug, alcohol and tobacco genocide. The process of occupation is completed by the criminal and sexual revolution. The sex, drugs and rock and roll program has done a good job of dismantling white civilization in the USA and Western Europe, and since 1991 it began its destructive work in Eastern Europe, in the post-Soviet republics.

The liberals were in fact, consciously or unconsciously, implementing into Russia a long-term program of destruction created in the West. They have created a “pipe economy” that can be served by two to three tens of millions of people, the rest of the population is “unpromising”, “surplus” and “economically unprofitable”. According to some reports, former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher once said that Russia only needs 15 million people to service its production natural resources, their transportation to the West, and ensure repair of communications. It must be said that in the economic sphere, the liberals themselves did not come up with anything, but only implemented the program of Hitler’s Germany. In Goering’s “Green Folder” there is an entry dated July 15, 1941: “The use of areas subject to occupation should be carried out primarily in the food and oil sectors of the economy. To obtain as much food and oil as possible for Germany is the main economic goal of the campaign.” The liberals implemented this program: in two decades, Russia was turned into a raw material appendage of the West and East. Oil, natural gas, metals, timber, grain, everything that is necessary for the development of Russia itself is sold for cut paper. They take out everything that is necessary for normal life many generations of Russian citizens. Resources are exchanged for paper, and then goods are bought abroad with it. They bring to Russia unhealthy food, drinks, light and electronics products (the domestic industry was killed), luxury goods, etc.

A terrible blow was dealt to children and teenagers. Their pure consciousness is poisoned skillfully and thoroughly. From the doctrine of CIA Director A. The level of beer consumption among teenagers is very high: 50-60% of teenagers drink beer on holidays, a third - once a month, half - once a week, 10-15% several times a week (in fact, they are already beer alcoholics).

I taught in the cadet class for three years: all the boys tried alcohol, a third smoked constantly, several of them drank, including vodka and moonshine, every week, one or two were already on the verge of alcoholism. Moreover, out of 20 guys, not a single one was completely healthy, all of them had some kind of deviation, from mental problems to problems with vision, heart, gastrointestinal diseases, etc. All this is the consequences of the geopolitical catastrophe of 1991.

In the 1990s, Russia took one of the first places in the world in terms of mortality, especially among men of working age; by the number of murders and suicides; on the scale of drug, alcohol and tobacco consumption; by the number of abortions; in terms of infertility levels among both women and men; by low birth rate; by the number of orphans and children deprived of parental care; in terms of crime, corruption, prostitution, etc. Each point claimed tens, hundreds of thousands of lives.

Thus, abortions alone claim 1.7-2 million lives annually. According to unofficial data, the figure is even worse - up to 6 million deaths. Every fourth artificial termination of pregnancy on the planet is performed in Russia. According to this indicator, we are the absolute leader in the world. Only by introducing a ban on abortion, as under Stalin, would we solve the demographic problem. The population would begin to increase due to the indigenous population. Liberals in the field of abortion also became the conductors of Hitler’s strategy to destroy the Russian people. In 1942, a directive was issued by one of the leaders of the Third Reich, Martin Bormann, which stated: “If women and girls in the occupied eastern territories have abortions, then we should only welcome this. German lawyers should not object to this. In the opinion of the Fuhrer, it should be allowed in the occupied eastern regions intensive trade in contraceptives, since we are not interested in the growth of the non-German population."

During the post-Yeltsin period, the situation has not changed radically, although V. Putin’s third five-year period in power will soon end. There are some positive changes, but they are not fundamental. The country's authorities de facto admitted their inability to solve the demographic problem by giving the green light to the mass import of migrants. Otherwise, we will have to recognize the criminal nature of the actions of a number of prominent leaders of the USSR-Russia over the past decades, conduct show trials of “enemies of the people”, change the concept of development of Russia from unfair to fair, change the value priorities of society in a country where capitalism and the “golden calf” won . Putin has repeatedly said that a revision of the results of privatization is impossible, thereby confirming his loyalty to the comprador bourgeoisie. Obviously, he cannot bear such a burden.

In Russian society there is already a growing feeling that the course of the current Putin-Medvedev tandem is wrong. Thus, according to the latest Levada Center poll, Vladimir Putin’s actions as president have reached the highest level of rejection in 12 years: 31% of Russians do not support the actions of the head of state. The share of citizens who describe their current impression of Vladimir Putin as mostly unfavorable has increased to 29%. These figures are twice as high as during Vladimir Putin's first and second presidential terms, when the level of rejection reached only 9-15%. The main reason for the growth of negative attitudes towards the president is the lack of clear prospects for the development of the state. In particular, who will now remember about the “Putin plan” that was advertised in the election campaign of the United Russia party on the eve of the parliamentary and presidential elections in 2007 and 2008, respectively? They shouted, promised, and then forgot. Vladimir Putin did not declare any great goals or horizons for the country. The presence of spectacles - the Olympics in Sochi, the World Cup, etc. - does not compensate for the lack of real achievements and victories, the lack of purpose. You can’t go on endlessly to save the country from collapse in 1999-2001. and "stability". In order for Russia to survive the global systemic crisis - and the second wave is approaching, which could be followed by a serious regional conflict and an even more serious surge in violence throughout the planet - it is necessary to return the ship called "Russia" to the Stalinist course of building a society of creation and knowledge. The consumer society will not survive the global storm.

Russia recently accused Ukraine of carrying out genocide of Russian-speaking citizens in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions. They say that members of the National Guard, the Right Sector and some military personnel deliberately kill civilians and even receive monetary rewards for this. At the same time, the Russians even opened criminal proceedings in this case. The Ukrainian side called all the accusations absurd. Officials said that civilians are being killed by militants and Russian soldiers who shell residential areas under the guise of anti-terrorist operation forces.

Genocide in Bosnia

It is also called the Srebrenica Holocaust because it occurred in this region of the country. The worst of the crimes occurred in the newly formed Bosnia (the collapse of Yugoslavia in 1990). General Ratko Mladic and Republika Srpska troops are known to have murdered thousands of Bosnian Muslims and Serbs. Thus, they carried out “ethnic cleansing” in Srebrenica. Ukrainian genocide

The Holodomor of 1932-1933 is also called genocide. It was organized by Stalin in order to “strangle” the national liberation movement in Ukraine and destroy the Ukrainians themselves.
