Paid or free?

There are 10 music schools in the South-East Administrative District. Their main departments are: piano, strings, winds, percussion, folk instruments and choir. And, for example, at school. A.K.Glazunov in Lublin you can even learn to play the harp.

Budgetary (free) departments accept children from 7 to 12 years old.

Duration of training is five to seven years. Off-budget (paid) programs are accepted at almost any age, including adults. The cost is from 5 thousand rubles per month, you will study for five years.

As for the prices of instruments, a used violin for a child can be purchased for 6 thousand rubles. An old piano is often given away for free, but you should only take it in the presence of a tuner. An electronic piano does not need to be tuned, but it is expensive - about 30 thousand rubles. New guitar - from 8 thousand rubles.

Five people per seat

There is a competition for both budgetary and extra-budgetary departments. For piano, guitar and vocals - about five people per place. For folk instruments departments there are two or three people per place. So if a child does not pass the phono course, he may well go and learn to play the accordion or balalaika.

Entrance examination

The entrance exams test musical ear, rhythm and memory. The child is asked to sing a song, then the teacher plays a melody and asks him to sing it.

They approach rhythm testing strictly: unlike hearing, which develops over time, rhythm is an innate quality,

it can't be fixed. The teacher “claps” a certain rhythm and asks to repeat it.

Each of the three tests is scored on a five-point system. Selection for school is based on the total score.

If a child is talented, but there are not enough budget places, he may be offered to start studying for a fee, and as soon as a place becomes available, transfer to the budget.

How much to study

Children go to music school two to three times a week. During the week, the child attends two classes in his specialty, as well as solfeggio, musical literature and choir. At home, children should study every day: small ones - for half an hour, large ones - for an hour or two, in high school - for four hours.

Singer Anastasia went to Balakirevskaya school

The school had a family atmosphere. With our piano teacher Elena Quintillianovna, we gathered at home, organized concerts, sang, read poetry, she recalls.

Why is this necessary?

All children should be taught music, at first even “under pressure,” says the head teacher of the children’s music school named after. A.K.Glazunova in Lublin Olga Skrebtsova.

As teachers at music schools explain, music lessons instill in children willpower, discipline and the ability to think. Musicians make good stockbrokers, air traffic controllers and businessmen. In addition, there is a close connection between music and mathematics: it is not for nothing that Albert Einstein played the violin, Boris Grebenshchikov was a mathematician by training. And, for example, Microsoft prefers to hire employees with a musical education.
