Knitting courses. In previous episodes, we introduced you to the basics of crochet. In our new video tutorial, master Irina Kurochkina will tell and show you two options for garter stitch: one using sectional yarn, the other with melange thread. Prak

In this article you are offered training course on crocheting. In a simple form with illustrations it is shown and described where to start.

  • Two unfinished double crochets knitted together
How to hold the hook and work correctly

The knitted fabric is held with the left hand with the thumb, middle, ring and little fingers, the working thread passes over the index finger. Right hand take the hook as you would normally hold a pen.

Initial loop

Place the end of the thread around the hook into the loop, holding the intersection thumb left hand, then pull the working thread through it and slightly tighten the resulting loop.

Chain chain

Crocheting begins with a chain of chain stitches, which forms the bottom edge of the product. First you need to make the initial loop. Then make a yarn over, laying the working thread around the hook, and pull this thread through the loop on the hook: a finished chain loop is formed below the hook, and on the hook there is a starting loop for the next chain loop. When crocheting, the loop that is on the hook does not count, that is, it is not included in total loops of a chain or pattern. Then knit in the same way to the required length of the chain, while you need to make sure that the air loops are the same size and not too tight, otherwise it will be difficult to insert the hook into them in the future.

Double set of loops

Tie a chain of two air. loops

In the first air. knit a loop with a single crochet, then insert the hook into the left longitudinal part of the previous stitch and perform a double crochet. Then knit in the same way until the required length of the chain.

In the same way, you can knit a cast-on chain by doing double crochets. Knit a chain of 4 chains. loops In the first air. Crochet a loop with a double crochet, then work a double crochet into the base of the previous stitch. Knit the same way until the required length of the chain.

Connecting post

Insert the hook into the loop, pull the thread and pull the thread through the loop on the hook.

Single crochet

Insert the hook into the loop, pull the thread. Then yarn over and pull it through both loops on the hook.

Half double crochet

Yarn over, placing the working thread around the hook, insert the hook into the loop, and pull the thread out. Then yarn over and pull it through the three loops on the hook.

Double crochet

Yarn over, placing the working thread around the hook, insert the hook into the loop, and pull the thread out. Then yarn over and pull it through the first two loops on the hook. After this, make another yarn over and use it to tie the remaining two loops on the hook.

Double crochet stitch

Yarn over 2 times, placing the working thread twice around the hook, insert the hook into the loop, and pull the thread out. Then make a yarn over and pull it through the first loop on the hook and one yarn over. Then make another yarn over and use it to knit the loop on the hook and the next yarn over. After this, make another yarn over and use it to tie the remaining two loops on the hook.

Double crochet with three or more crochets

Yarn over 3 times, placing the working thread around the hook three times, insert the hook into the loop, and pull the thread out. Then make yarn overs and knit the loops and yarn overs on the hook in pairs. In the same way, knit stitches with four, five or more crochets.

Relief column

Knit in the same way as a single crochet or double crochet, but insert the hook not into the next loop, but in front of the stitch of the previous row. When working on the wrong side, insert the hook behind the column of the previous row.

Two unfinished double crochets knitted together

Yarn over, insert hook into loop, pull thread. Then yarn over and knit only the first two loops on the hook.

Then yarn over and insert the hook into the same base or into the next loop, as indicated in the instructions, and pull out the thread. Then yarn over and pull it through the first two loops on the hook. After this, make another yarn over and at the same time knit all the loops on the hook.

In the video - 3 double crochets with a common top:

Double crochet cross

Yarn over 2 times, placing the working thread twice around the hook, insert the hook into the loop, and pull the thread out. Then yarn over and pull it through the first two loops on the hook. Then make another yarn over, skip one loop from the previous row, insert the hook into the next loop and pull out the thread.

Then yarn over and pull it through the first two loops on the hook.

Yarn over again and pull it through the next two loops on the hook. Repeat this step two times.

Tie 1 air. loop, yarn over, insert the hook into the intersection of the three previously tied stitches and pull out the thread. Then make a yarn over and knit only the first two loops on the hook, make another yarn over and knit the remaining two loops on the hook.

Branching column

First you need to knit a stitch with three crochets. Connect two air. loops, then double crochet in middle part double crochet stitch.

Tie 2 air. loops, then perform a double crochet stitch in the same base as the previous stitch.

Column "broth"

These columns look very expressive if they are placed against the background of double crochets. For such a column you need to perform several yarn overs (their number is usually indicated in the instructions). Then insert the hook into the loop, pull the thread and pull it through all the yarn overs on the hook.

Yarn over and pull it through the last loop on the hook. The “broth” column is easier to perform if, when knitting, hold the yarn over with a large and index fingers right hand.

    Tatiana Litvinova

Every person has his own hobby. I love to knit . Working in kindergarten, I realized that knitting is a very popular activity. I started by knitting outfits, napkins, and bedspreads for the dolls. Then I came up with the idea of creating a store in which all the goods are knitted. Later a knitted one appeared puppet show, knitted paintings and much more. “Why not teach this exciting activity to children?”- I once thought. After all, knitting is not only accessible to older preschoolers, but also very useful. Fine motor skills of the hand develop, and this is closely related to the development of speech and thinking of the child. Also developing aesthetic perception, a need is formed to creatively carry out free time and much more.

I organized teaching knitting to preschoolers in the form of a circle class. Through trial and error, I realized that it is easier for children to master crocheting than knitting. It is preferable to work with wool yarn of medium thickness.

I devoted my first classes to getting to know the materials and safety precautions. The main task of the first stage of training is to develop children's interest and desire to learn how to knit. This is the whole difficulty! The child needs to learn how to hold a hook, pick up loops, and knit stitches. This is not just one week's work. By the time the first result appears, there is no longer any interest. AND exciting activity can easily turn into tedious work. Therefore, it was decided to beat the very first steps. For example, children created a fluffy sun, but in fact learned how to hold a hook correctly.

When it came time to teach children how to make their first stitches, it became clear that this was an excellent material for creating decorative panels, because I repeat, it is so important for children to immediately see the result of their work! Here are examples of integrated activities (knitting and applique). First, children cut out the trunk and branches of a tree, glue them onto the base, and then decorate it with autumn leaves from multi-colored knitted first loops.

Or this wonderful sunflower hidden behind the fence.

For prickly hedgehog A few loops are not enough. To create such a thorn you need to have sufficient skill. The child has already mastered the technique of creating the first loop, you can move on!

The next stage, the child needs to be taught how to knit chains of air loops and use them in appliqué work. For example, a guitar, a gift for dad on February 23rd. Strings are long knitted chains glued with PVA glue.

You can make a snail using the same technique.

Knitted chains can be combined not only with applique. Can be arranged didactic games "Lay out the letter", “Add a number from a chain”, "Not a chain, but geometric figure» and much more.

Knitted chains can be used to make bracelets and beads for story games and a gift for mom on March 8th. You just need to add a few beads and the decoration is ready.

Having taught children to pick up air loops and close them into a ring, you can invite children to master the next stage - knitting in a circle with single crochets. By tying a small ring, you get cute circles from which children will happily create their own little masterpieces! For example, a basket of flowers.

Or an apple tree with ripe apples, some of which have already fallen on the soft grass (first loops).

The branches of red and black currants will not leave anyone indifferent.

In conclusion, I would like to note that while paying due attention to the development fine motor skills, I solve several at once tasks: indirectly influence the overall intellectual development I prepare the child to master writing skills, develop an aesthetic perception of the surrounding reality.
