Features of Bangtan Boys

The guys compose their songs together, which is not so common in the K-Pop world. They write about the dreams and goals of young people, psychological pressure, the ideals of current and future generations, political and social problems. Latest topics deliberately avoided by many popular artists, BTS has been dubbed the "revolutionaries of Korean pop."

This is very, very strange. Their popularity is growing every minute, and their records convince even the most skeptical critics. But before they became major global superstars, they were just kids who wanted to make their dreams come true. How did the group form? BTS and how members joined the group.

R.M.

Kim Namjoon, or his stage name, was captivated by rap culture after hearing the song “Fly” for the first time while still in the sixth grade. He later started rapping himself and even succeeded as an underground rapper under the name Runch Randa in 2007 while he was studying at high school.

R.M. then decided to join a rap team called Daenamhyup, which consisted of several of the best underground rappers. Its participants included: (finalist of the show Show Me The Money 3), (producer at BigHit Entertainment currently) and (from Top Dogg).

As his skills as a rapper grew, R.M. became more active in the underground scene. He released more and more songs and collaborated with other underground artists such as () (who at the time called himself Nakseo).

Having become really popular among rap circles, R.M. was invited to audition for a hip-hop agency. It was there that he met Sleepy, who was a judge at the audition. Sleepy was so impressed with the rap skills RM that I saved his phone number and passed it on to the producer Ban Shiheku.

Suga

Min Yoongi or better known by his pseudonym, was born in the city of Daegu and was active on the underground scene not only as a rapper, but also as a producer. He began his career under the pseudonym Gloss also in high school and became quite successful.

It wasn't just his rapping that attracted attention. Suga began to assert himself as a producer, composing beats for local artists in his hometown Daegu, mainly for a group called D-TOWN.

More and more people noticed his skills, and he even released tracks for famous underground figures. One of his most successful songs was the track he created for Reflow entitled "Who am i/Who am I".

Wanting to take my music to the next level, Suga decided to participate in the audition for BigHit Entertainment. He saw flyers promoting a rap competition/audition called "Hit It" and thought it would be a good fit for him. Even though he didn't win the competition, Suga placed 2nd and joined BigHit Entertainment as a producer/trainee.

It is believed that Suga wanted to just be a producer in the agency, but he was convinced to join BTS in 2010 year. To this day Suga jokes that Bang Sihek tricked him insidiously and forced him to become part of the group.

Back in my trainee days Suga was one of 4 participants BTS(together with Jimin, Jungkook And J-Hope), who were often seen as backup dancers at live performances GLAM"Glamorous", as well as during the stage performances of the holographic performer SeeU.

He also starred in a small part of the video for "I'm Da One".

J-Hope

Before his debut with BTS Jung Hoseok, known as , was a dancer. He always loved to dance and even joined a dance team called Neuron in his hometown of Gwangju, Korea.

J-Hope even auditioned for JYP Entertainment. Although he passed the first few tryouts, he was eventually eliminated by JYP.

J-Hope decided to also audition for BigHit Entertainment. With his dancing skills strong feeling rhythm and ability to rap, J-Hope was hired by the company. He moved to Seoul and became a permanent trainee for the agency.

During my internship J-Hope was very active. He was often seen as a backup dancer for the group's performances GLAM"Glamorous", member promotion 2AM Jo Kwon"I'm Da One" and even featured as a rapper on the track Jo Kwon"Animal".

Despite years of internship J-Hope were not planned to be included in the main roster BTS, Bye R.M. did not convince BigHit (and also J-Hope), What BTS needs to J-Hope. He became part of the group and the rest is history.

Gin

Kim Seokjin, or , became the fourth member to join BTS. But he had a completely different casting experience than the other contestants. Initially Gin was caught on the street by a manager from SM Entertainment. Then he decided that they were scammers and refused their offer.

When he was already a college student, he met the agency manager again. This time, a representative of BigHit Entertainment saw Gina, as he got off the bus, and convinced him to audition for BigHit.

U Gina I had no experience in either singing or dancing. Since he was studying acting, Gin and auditioned as an actor. However, BigHit Entertainment had other plans for him, and he became a trainee BTS. Gin achieved an excellent level of song performance thanks to incredible diligence and perseverance.

During the internship Gin also starred in the video Jo Kwon"I'm Da One", as a butler/bodyguard. Because of his appearance, he participated as an actor rather than as a dancer.

Jungkook

Maknae of the group, participated in the auditions for the third season of the show Superstar K in his hometown Busan, Korea. Although he was eliminated at the audition, various agency recruiters saw something special in him.

Jungkook received invitations from seven different entertainment agencies. These agencies included JYP Entertainment, FNC Entertainment and Starship Entertainment. From all agencies Jungkook chose to work with BigHit Entertainment.

The reason he chose BigHit (which was a small and unknown company at the time) was because he was so impressed R.M. and his rap skills. He wanted to be in the same company with RM and debut with him.

During the internship Jungkook often acted as a backup dancer for BigHit Entertainment artists. He was spotted performing GLAM with the song “Glamorous”, as well as “I’m Da One” Jo Kwon.

In and

Kim Taehyung or stated in several interviews that he grew up poor. He was raised by a farming family in Daegu, and his childhood dream was to play music.

Because of this In and began learning to play the saxophone in high school. His father encouraged these activities as he was serious about music, so he did this for 3 years.

One day, he followed his friend to a BigHit Entertainment audition. He was there just to support his friend, but someone from the intern search team saw In and and invited him to audition. That's why In and called his father to get permission and then took part in the selection. He was the only person who was able to pass the audition in Daegu that day.

Before his official debut In and was hidden by the agency BigHit Entertainment. However, he was seen in a music video Jo Kwon"I'm Da One." Along with Jin, V appeared as a butler/bodyguard.

from Busan, Korea. He then studied at Busan Arts High School, where he was the top student in the dance department.

U Jimina natural talent for dancing. Being a promising young student modern dance, one of his teachers convinced Jimina go to audition for BigHit Entertainment.

After receiving guidance/encouragement from his dance teacher, Jimin went to the agency and took part in the audition. He completed it in Busan and then moved to Seoul to become a trainee. But in order to better understand the essence of the group’s creativity, it is worth considering several of its most important and prominent members.

Min Yoongi (Suga)

Suga took the alias Agust D in 2016. Under this pseudonym, he published a free mixtape on SoundCloud on August 15. He decided not to release the project as a commercial studio album, describing it as "the feeling of being in some new form." In the mixtape, he addressed issues such as his struggles with depression and social anxiety. Fuse TV rated it one of the 20 best mixtapes of 2016, and the BTS member biography with photos only proves it creative success each of the guys, because only truly sought-after people can have such happy smiles.

According to the biographies of the BTS members, Suga is responsible for lyrics, writing and organizing concerts in the group. More than 70 registered songs are attributed to him by the Korean Music Copyright Association. He is known as a pop singer, rapper and pianist at the same time. His lyrics include themes "full of dreams and hope" (according to critics), as his mission is to instill hope in people. He cites rappers Stony Skunk and Epik High as his inspirations and mentors in the world of hip-hop. In particular, he cited the former reggae-hip-hopper's hybrid album Ragga Muffin (2005) and its title track as one of the things that gave him inspiration and interest in the genre, calling it a completely unique phenomenon in modern music. The biography of each BTS member, however, emphasizes that not only Suga, but all of them are real phenomena in modern popular culture.

Jeff Benjamin of Fuse said Suga's mixtape "showcases the new star's hot temperament, hardcore rap style and amazing ability to turn his weaknesses into strengths."

In January 2018, Suga was announced as a full member of the Copyright Association in Korea.

He was the third member to join the group as a trainee after RM and Suga. Since then, J-Hope has been involved in the creation process of every album in BTS's discography.

His stage name J-Hope (제이홉) came from his desire to represent hope for fans and also be hope for BTS. This is also a reference to the myth of Pandora's Box, as after the box was opened and all the evil inside was released into the world, all that was left for humanity was to remain hopeful.

On March 1, 2018, J-Hope released his first solo mixtape, Hope World, along with a music video for the title track, Daydream. Music video for one of the B-side tracks ( reverse side mixtape) was released on March 6.
