Guitar lessons for beginners. Determining the purpose of the lesson

Anyone who wants to learn to play the guitar willy-nilly has a hundred questions of this kind: “how to learn to play the guitar?”, “is it difficult, etc. Once about 10 years ago I asked the same questions, but I don’t have the Internet it was - and I studied on my own, collecting information bit by bit from my friends... Now everything is much simpler.

I want to say right away that learning to play the guitar is not difficult. It all depends on your endurance, desire and time that you are willing to devote to learning. If you are patient you have great desire play, everything will work out!

So, you have a guitar and a desire to learn how to play. Let's gather our motivation... let's go!

First you need to become familiar with guitar tuning - after all, you cannot play an instrument that is not prepared for playing. can be done completely independently, or you can configure it using a tuner or through online setup. A tuner is a special device that shows whether a string is tuned or not. If it shows that it is not in tune, then the string needs to be raised/lowered. Thus, by tuning each string, you will tune the entire guitar. Is your guitar tuned? This means you can start learning directly.

First, you need to become familiar with your guitar playing position. Usually you can find debates everywhere about how to sit properly when playing the guitar. For example, in music school They teach the classic landing, when the bar is higher than the soundboard. However, many professionals hold the guitar straight when playing the guitar, without tilting... It's up to you. In my opinion, there should be no clear rules for seating; you need to sit in a way that is comfortable for you.

Afterwards you need to read, fight, search. Find out what movements the right and left hands make when playing the guitar. Combat and grappling are a set of movements that are performed right play, near the resonator hole. Chords are a special position of the hands (fingers) of the left hand on the fretboard. Once you learn a few chords and strumming, such as strumming 6 and Dm, E, C, G, A, you can easily play your first song. Often they play their first song after learning only 3-4 chords and one beat - a 6-stroke. For example, many people play “Pass”, “A Star Called the Sun” or “A Pack of Cigarettes” by the group “Kino” as their first song. This will not make you a guitarist yet, but you will learn the basics. After this, you should increase your knowledge in the number of chords, strums and strums. It will be mandatory to learn H7, D. After them, you should move on to learning barre chords. You should start with the F chord.

The most important thing is that after the first song you play, you will have a huge charge of motivation that will steadily push you to improve your playing skills. By the way, on the Internet there are very high-quality video lessons and analyzes of many simple songs that you can easily master in short term. I would advise you to start by studying the songs “Pass”, “A Star Called the Sun”, “Pack of Cigarettes”, “The Bend of a Yellow Guitar”, etc. Many simple songs can be found among army songs or marching songs.

Having learned a sufficient number of chords and learned how to quickly play and change them, you should familiarize yourself with tablatures. Tablatures - special way notes on how to play music. It looks something like 6 strings drawn, on which it is alternately indicated where and how the strings should be clamped. If all the chords can be learned, then tablature is in the category of “the more I know, the less I know.” There are a countless number of them, they are replenished every day. Tablatures allow you to study modern music and songs of different directions and complexity, starting with “Grasshopper” on one string and ending with the most complex arrangements. Having learned what tablatures are and learning how to use them, you will discover huge world songs and melodies played on the guitar by modern musicians, bands, etc.

Along with studying chords, tablatures, strumming and strumming, you will encounter many different techniques sound productions, for example: harmonics, pull-offs, hammers, vibrato, glissando, etc. For example, harmonics are performed by plucking the string and simultaneously muting it. Natural harmonics are performed on the 12th fret, artificial ones - on any fret. All of them make the sound more beautiful and complement the playing with special notes. They are not difficult if you study everything gradually and do not jump to a level that you cannot handle.

Thus, learning to play the guitar is not as difficult as it might seem to you at first. Advice for those who want to start - start!. The sooner you start your training, the sooner you will become interested in this topic - the sooner you will be able to play the guitar. All in your hands! A short tutorial in front of you, you just read it... Good luck!

Instructions

When choosing an instrument, be guided by your own preferences: the shape, size of the soundboard and color of the guitar can be anything, but the guitar should be comfortable to hold in your hands. When playing the guitar, its weight is transferred to the right knee, and the soundboard is held on top with the right hand. The left hand should be completely free. It would be preferable, of course, to take a Western.

The main thing you need to pay attention to, in addition to convenience, is the height of the strings above the fingerboard. The higher the strings are located above the fretboard, the more difficult it will be to play and pluck chords.

Also, run your fingers along the edges of the neck - the iron saddles should not protrude from the sides of the neck, otherwise you can seriously damage your fingers when playing the guitar.

And, of course, the guitar must build. Ask a friend who can play the guitar to go to the store with you, tune up, and play the guitar. The sound of the chords played must be pure and true.

So, the guitar has been selected. The first thing you should learn to do is tune your guitar. Especially new strings tend to stretch quickly when played, and this causes the instrument to go out of tune. You can tune the guitar using a tuning fork, electric or tuner.

You need to check your guitar tuning before each lesson so as not to damage your hearing: as we know, it cannot be restored.

Now comes the hard work - developing the fingers for the chords. For this we set forefinger on the first fret of the sixth string next to the nut, pinch the string and make a sound thumb right hand. Without removing the index finger, place the middle finger on the 2nd fret of the 6th string, repeat the exercise, then successively pinch the 6th string with the ring finger on the 3rd fret and the little finger on the 4th fret.

We remove our fingers from the strings, while producing a sound, in the reverse order: from the little finger to the middle one.

Fingers that don’t know the strings will hurt a lot at first and won’t obey, but don’t lose perseverance. As soon as your left arm gets very tired, rest for a while, then start the lesson again.

All great guitarists do this exercise to keep their dexterity intact.

You can select scales on the guitar and practice on them: the sound produced will become more interesting and will allow you to continue. Or ask your musician friends to show you simple fingerpicked melodies. It is by playing by fingerpicking that you will quickly develop your fingers.

Remember that the sound is extracted as follows: thumb the right hand “works” with the sixth and fifth strings. Index finger - with the fourth string. The middle finger is on the third, the ring finger is on the second, and the little finger is on the first.

It’s hard to imagine a friendly hike without a fire, favorite songs and warm company. And here there remains one unsolved problem: “how to learn to play the guitar from scratch on your own?” If you are already ripe for such practice, if your hands are ready to play, if your soul is torn by familiar motives, and your fingers are looking for support for picking - congratulations, you are ready to learn to play the guitar. We will try to guide you!

So, we've decided on the guitar, all that remains are the accessories. Since we study on our own, we must be fully prepared that no one will tune the instrument for us every hour. How to learn to play guitar from scratch at home? For newbies:

So you've got your hands on a guitar, where do you start to get beautiful music flowing out of it?

Or, in other words, how to learn to play guitar from scratch? Of course, you will need video tutorials for beginners. But even this is not a guarantee of success.

Get ready that between your statement “I want to play the guitar” and the real “I already play the guitar” time will pass. Before your chords form a full-fledged melody, you will have to learn many basics. But don't worry, all aspiring guitarists have gone through this. The main thing is to devote at least half an hour a day to studying. Practice regularly at home and you'll soon surprise your friends with a decent game.

So, first learn what elements a guitar consists of. Now this is your comrade, friend, assistant, adviser, and also the best outlet in life. Thus, you just need to know what a guitar is made of.

Any guitar has a head, body and neck. Take a close look at the photo of the structure of this musical instrument: pay attention to the frets, strings, fret nuts and sound hole - you will need all this to produce sound. In order to hold your guitar correctly, it is very important to know where the shell, bridge and saddle are located.

Correct fit

First of all, you need to understand how to properly hold the instrument in your hands. Of course, you need to take the right attitude. It consists of always keeping your back straight, without leaning your elbows, without throwing your body back. In this case, the left leg is elevated. IN right leg The base of the tool always rests. Next we will tell you how to learn to play the guitar, and there will also be video lessons at your disposal.

Correct hand placement

You and I have not yet learned how to extract sound from a guitar. After all, a guitar definitely requires a special approach.

Let's look at the hands:

  • The left hand covers the bar well.
  • The right hand is responsible for producing a clear, clear sound. In order to do this, you need to relax her.
  • Place your right elbow at the intersection of the bridge and the side of your guitar. To do this, you need to draw a conditional line from the stand to the shell.
  • Get your fingers ready for fingering.

It is impossible to quickly learn to play an instrument until you learn the position of your fingers. Each finger has its own position and is also responsible for its own string. All strings are numbered from bottom to top, that is, in the order of sound decay: from the highest to the lowest. Since we have five fingers and six strings, the distribution will be like this:

  • Thumb – fourth, fifth, sixth string (p).
  • Index finger – third string (i).
  • Middle finger – second string (m).
  • The ring finger is the first string (a).

Now is the time to learn what the rhythmic pattern of the right hand is. This is the way you produce sound. Let's say you touch the sixth string with your thumb (p). You place your index finger (i) on the third string, middle finger (m) on the second, and ring finger (a) on the first. Notice that your thumb and index finger form a cross, with your thumb leading the way.

How to learn to play the guitar yourself from scratch: exercises!

Help you learn to play the guitar simple exercises for the right hand:
  • Let's try bass 3, 2, 1, 2, 3.
  • Get your fingers ready to play.
  • Hook your thumb on the sixth string and you get a low, hollow sound.
  • Now pluck strings No. 3, 2, 1, 2, 3 alternately.
  • Repeat the picking, hooking your thumb on the fifth string.

Bass pluck 3, 2, 1. Hook your thumb on the sixth string, and then pluck three strings together: first, third and second.

Learning chords

All we have to do is install the left hand on the guitar, which will help to extract chords or sounds that form the pleasant sound of the musical instrument. At first, it will be unusual to pinch the strings that are located on the fingerboard, but with regular practice your fingers will quickly get used to it.

  • Bend your thumb and place it parallel to the frets.
  • At the same time, you also need to keep your hand slightly rounded, placing all your fingers closer to the frets.
  • The pads of your fingers only touch the strings of the guitar top part, so it’s better for girls to cut their nails.

We already know the numbering order of the strings, now let's study the numbering of the frets (usually they are designated by Roman numerals). One fret on a guitar occupies the space between two iron lines, which are located on the fingerboard perpendicular to the strings. These are called fret saddles. All frets are numbered starting from the beginning of the guitar head. Beginners typically draw chord diagrams starting with the very first three frets (i.e. the Am chord in the key of A minor). In the diagrams, the guitar strings are numbered from top to bottom (1, 2, 3...).

On a guitar it looks like this: you place your left index finger on the second string (first fret) and your middle finger on the fourth string (second fret). For ring finger there is also space on the second fret, but on the third string.

By analogy, the other chords are taken to the Am chord: Dm, E, G, F, C. Their diagrams can be easily found in any tutorial for beginners. You can also watch a video with an analysis of small nuances of chords and frets.

Once you can play chords with confidence on the right strings without touching the ones next to you, you can move on to strumming, picking, or soloing on the guitar using your right hand.

It's like the guitar best friend and, as befits any creativity in general, it will put you in the best mood, calm you down Hard time. Many of those who picked up a guitar for the first time believe that it is very difficult to make friends with it, but if you imagine all the problems on the way to mastering this instrument, you will easily succeed in this matter.

Problems in mastering the guitar

  • The opinion is that learning to play the guitar is very difficult. This confidence is formed from someone else’s negative experience, the fear that you will have to learn a lot, and your fear of starting. Well, you still have to learn the notes. As a result, you need to pick up a tutorial, or even more than one, and study a bunch of completely unnecessary information.
  • How to learn to play the guitar at home? The opinion is that to play this musical instrument talent is required. Perhaps you were instilled with fear of your efforts as a child, told that you had no voice or hearing, so now if you dare to sing, it is only in front of the mirror.
  • Confidence that you can learn to play any guitar. A beginner tries to learn from everything that comes to hand, but the wrong guitar, which is suitable only for experienced “grandfathers,” can discourage him from learning.
  • The opinion of teachers is that you should start with the classical guitar. An outside experience, when your friend had to study unsuccessfully and for a long time, discouraged you from learning anything new.
  • Inconvenience and pain after the first steps in mastering the instrument. The first stages of the training are the most difficult, because you develop the motor skills of your fingers, the skin on them begins to ache, the hand quickly gets tired from constant tension, and your back begins to ache from the incorrect position of the body and arms. Pain can definitely turn away the most resistant.
  • Repulsive sound. Perfectionism prevents you from easily exploring new horizons. And also maximalism, which pushes you to study complex songs, while bypassing the easy ones. And as a result, you will study only one song for months, achieving the best sound, picking up the instrument through force and, in the end, just quitting the whole thing.
  • It’s impossible to play and sing at the same time. Once you learn to play and sing separately, you will immediately want to try to combine these skills, but without practice, your first attempts will be quite disastrous.
  • No listeners. There are many reasons why they may not listen to you at all, but the main thing is your lack of love for your work and self-confidence.

We solve problems

  • Don't listen to others. To play the guitar, three months of hard training is enough for you, and you don’t need to know the notes, but ear for music Everyone has it. Unless it needs to be developed, just like the voice.
  • Forget what you were told. Regular training will give results after a month or two. Your singing will change a lot. The guitar will speed up progress, as it is a great stimulus.
  • Choose a guitar for yourself. For beginners, it is better to take an instrument with a small resonator, as well as steel strings for later replacement with others, approximately 10 thick or less.
  • Get ready to work. Remember that your fingers will definitely hurt for the first two months of training. It’s better to exercise every other day, and after exercising, dip your fingers in a little warm water. Your posture should be extremely straight. Never lean over the instrument, do not raise your right elbow, and do not wrap your thumb around the neck of the guitar.
  • Play a variety of simple melodies first. Choose those with a maximum of six chords. When you start playing more confidently, diversify your game and start improvising.
  • Metronome. Get a metronome and play your favorite song slowly. The most important thing is the rhythm. After that, try singing with a metronome, adjust your rhythm to the beat of the metronome. When you realize that you don’t need a metronome, play without it, along with the original recording of the composition.
  • Reflection is your best friend. Tune the instrument and start playing while looking in the mirror. Remember that the singer must be open, look directly at the viewer, and not at all hunched over his guitar. Of course, for this you will need to learn the chords to the point of automaticity.

    So, how to learn to play the guitar from scratch on your own and at home? Of course, the path described in this article is not the only correct one. If you already have some musical experience behind you, or have an irresistible desire to approach the issue thoroughly, then you can immediately start learning with theory. Learn notes, scales, modes, and how they all apply on the guitar. However, for a person who picks up an instrument for the first time, such an abundance of theoretical information will most likely lose any desire to study music in the future. I would like to immediately learn the minimum basics.

    I wish you creative success!

The guitar is a wonderful instrument whose popularity continues to grow among young people. Anyone can learn to play guitar... But a logical question arises: " how to learn to play guitar from scratch at home?".

This is obvious... Firstly, to learn to play the guitar from scratch at home you have to buy the tool itself.

But which one exactly? I'm sure you know that there are both classical acoustic guitars and electric guitars. Think about what kind of music you like most what you want to play.

If you are a fan of not very heavy music, for example pop or author's, then at home it will suit you classical guitar(With nylon strings) or acoustic (with metal strings).

If you are into rock, metal or blues- then you better take a closer look at the electric guitar (electric guitar). Although in any case, from scratch, I recommend starting to learn to play on the most common acoustic guitar.

Often, a beginner cannot afford an expensive and comfortable instrument, but this also has its advantages; you will be able to greatly improve your skills during the learning process and learn all the intricacies of your instrument, which will subsequently have a positive impact on your overall learning to play the guitar.

Guitar

It is very important that your first guitar meets certain requirements:

  • the guitar does not have to be very expensive (very expensive, not necessarily good);
  • the size of the guitar and the width of the neck should correspond to your height and the size of your palm (guitars have different sizes);
  • the guitar should be comfortable (take your time, try more if possible different guitars- you will have a better idea of what is more convenient for you);
  • The guitar must be in good tune - playing an out-of-tune guitar is murder for the ears; ATTENTION! It's best to go shopping with someone who knows how to do it well! Have this person check the following:
    • If light finger pressure on the surface of the fingerboard (and strings) changes the pitch, don’t buy it!
    • If the strings rattle on some frets, return the guitar to the seller and let him play it himself!
  • REMEMBER! If you decide to immediately start learning to play the electric guitar, this may be too difficult for you, since replacing strings and tuning on an electric guitar is much more difficult;

Accessories

What else do you need to buy right away:

  • a guitar case (a regular inexpensive case will do for starters, you can even sew it yourself);
  • set of spare strings;
  • a pick for playing (preferably hard or medium hard);
  • / (on initial stage It’s quite possible to do without them, develop your hearing!);
  • Guitar strap (in the beginning you will play while sitting, playing standing is much more difficult);
  • - you must hear the rhythm (it is very important for any musician to play in rhythm, especially if you are going to play in a group);
  • Guitar combo (amplifier with speakers). The combo should not be very powerful, because for now you are only practicing at home. There is still "some time" until the first performances, so spare your neighbors. The 30W amp is perfect for home jam sessions;
  • You also need to purchase a jack-jack cable. Reliable, thick, with good shielding - you shouldn’t skimp on cords, a cheap cord will produce noise, this is very annoying;
  • Of course, some kind of gadget (pedal, effect, guitar processor - for major players); Distortion is a classic of the genre, but there are many other interesting and useful gadgets. However, in the beginning it is better to rehearse on a clear sound; on a clear sound you can clearly distinguish all the mistakes and flaws when playing the guitar;

What is unison in music?

Exercises

Before you begin “physical exercise,” you need to prepare yourself psychologically.

It should be remembered that at the beginning of learning to play the guitar it is always difficult- your fingers will hurt and your hands will go numb from fatigue, but this will pass over time.

It is better to practice less, but systematically, distribute your classes by day of the week + study at any time free time, if you are in the mood, of course, you don’t need to force yourself, otherwise you will quickly get bored and lose all interest in learning the guitar.

A common mistake made by beginning guitarists who don’t know where to start learning to play the guitar is that they only want to play songs by their favorite band. I assure you - good guitarist plays both heavy metal and classics equally well, both street songs and the most difficult passages of jazz!

Never try to play too difficult exercises, mastery comes with experience and gradually:

It is important that you play with confidence and precision, speed will come with time. The main thing is to devote yourself completely to what you love.

You've probably noticed that some people manage to learn to play the guitar well in a short time, while others spend months and years on it, and at the same time cannot get rid of many mistakes when playing.

What's the matter? In talent? Partly, yes. But in to a greater extent The skill of a guitarist is not influenced by his talent, but by how he hones his skills and abilities.

After all, even being a talented musician, you can lose your former skills in a short time if you don’t work on yourself and don’t strive for better. After all, playing the guitar is not a job.

Even professional guitarist should not treat his tool as a milling machine operator treats his machine. After all, music is first and foremost an art, and not a way to earn money or gain fame. And art is something beautiful and lofty.

Before you start learning to play the guitar from scratch at home, a short lyrical digression

Did Pushkin write his poems to get rich? Did Beethoven compose music to become famous? Of course not. All this came to them over time. First of all, these people created art for themselves and for people.

And few great musicians put fame and fortune above music. When a musician or composer begins to compose music, it is as if he is plunging into the innermost depths of his soul. The music he composes and plays is like the voice of his soul, conveying emotional condition musician.

It is unlikely that a musician will be able to write a cheerful and cheerful composition when he is in a bad mood, when everything around him ceases to matter to him. Music, if it is written sincerely, from the heart, accurately conveys what is in a person’s soul. If in words it state of mind cannot be conveyed (or can be conveyed, but not quite correctly), then music conveys it with absolute accuracy. She will never lie.

How to hold a pick correctly

They say that music is the art of sadness and joy without words. That's the whole point. And the main thing is to understand this. If you don't realize this, there will be no success. A musician who treats playing his instrument as a job or a means of gaining fame and money will never be able to establish a soulful connection with his listeners. After all, music is special language, which does not need to be translated. On it the soul of the musician speaks to the soul of the listener.

Learning to play the guitar, learning to feel the guitar

But to achieve success, it is important not only to understand the essence of music. You need to be able to play it. After all, even the most best composition, played without feeling, will not sound as good as we would like.

Even if all note durations are met, even if all notes are fulfilled technique: grace notes, harmonics, legato and so on, but if the musician does not feel his instrument, things will be bad. If you treat the guitar like a living creature and love it, then you will succeed.

After all, the guitar feels pain too. Yes Yes exactly! The guitar can both sing and cry. The main thing is to achieve full contact with your instrument. Make sure your guitar is always in tune.

After all, playing even a slightly out of tune instrument somehow subconsciously discourages the musician from wanting to play it, even if this desire was previously strong. It's like in a relationship - even if there is the slightest mistrust to a loved one, this can lead to serious consequences.

Learning to play the guitar with a metronome

Also, don't be lazy to practice with a metronome. The more often you play to the sound of a metronome, the faster you will develop a sense of rhythm, and this is perhaps the most important thing in playing technique.

If various harmonics, grace notes, slides, bends and other techniques can be learned over time, then the situation with the sense of rhythm will be worse. Play so that you are clearly in time. And, most importantly, learn to play at a slow pace! Do you think it's easy?

Set it to 40-45 BPM and try to play some composition correctly on quarter or eighth notes. You'll likely be a little ahead of the metronome. And we need to get rid of this. Many beginning guitarists try to play fast right away. Do you know why? Yes, because they are trying to get rid of problems faster.

But they won’t get rid of them this way. Moreover, the situation will only get worse. Would it be easier for a hamster running inside a rotating cylinder to keep its balance if it ran faster? It’s unlikely, he simply won’t stand it, he’ll stumble and fall. A guitarist must be able to play both slow and fast tempos.

Even if he is a fan of speed metal, this does not change the matter. Even in a composition with a fast tempo, there are often notes of long duration, and they must be sustained. Many people don't succeed. Everyone is in a hurry to get somewhere. You need to deal with this.

Learn to play the guitar without straining

Another important nuance: you must be relaxed while playing. Don't hold the guitar like a sledgehammer - you're not in a factory, and you're not forging swords. You play music. And at the same time, it is necessary to get rid of any tension - both emotional and physical. First of all, don't put too much pressure on the strings, even when barre.

Yes, at first you will encounter a problem: if you didn’t press the string enough, it will rattle or become muffled; if you pressed it too hard, the note will sound higher than it should. By squeezing the strings, you not only spoil the sound, but also waste strength in your left hand - during prolonged playing, the ligaments in your hand will stretch, and your hand will quickly get tired, and then even hurt. Ensure that your left hand rests at every opportunity - this is very important.

During chord changes, for example, even tenths of a second during which the hand is relaxed will play a big role. Do not squeeze the bar as if you are strangling an enemy by the throat. The same applies to your right hand - do not clench it into a fist. Concentrate your efforts only on those fingers (more precisely, even on parts of these fingers) with which you hold the pick.

Learning to play the guitar with a pick

The fact that you squeeze your other fingers will certainly not bring any benefit to anyone, and first of all to yourself. And don’t push the pick too deep - it should be pressed against the outer phalanges of your fingers. However, you can hold the pick whatever you want, but the main thing is to achieve minimal tension in your hands. But at the same time, you should control the force so as not to drop the pick.

Being relaxed, you will be able to play fast solos, high-speed passages. If your hands are tense, you may also be able to play it, but the sound will be completely different, as if it were not a person playing, but a robot. All that a robot should have in you is automaticity of actions, a clear hit on the strings.

The rest should be gotten rid of. Music is the art of conveying to others what is in your soul. And if you play without enthusiasm, concentrating only on the game and not on the music, you will simply seem like a robot - insensitive and cold, unable to feel and share feelings with others.

And so, in order to quickly master the instrument and learn to play the guitar from scratch at home, listen to a variety of music (and not just your favorite bands) - this greatly expands your musical horizons.

Try to hear how the guitar sounds in the composition, focus on one guitar, namely the rhythm guitar. For example, I have a habit of listening to a song while my hands unconsciously move to the beat, as if I were playing the guitar. One way or another, this contributes to the development of a sense of rhythm.

And the last thing I would like to add to the question of how to learn to play the guitar yourself from scratch is be patient- only hard training gives good results. But there will definitely be results! Learn to play the guitar and teach others to play! Forward and with a song!!!
