Basic disco moves

If you don’t have the time or desire to go to a dance school, you can learn disco on your own using video lessons. Before you start performing the movements, prepare your room. Remove all unnecessary items. Disco is a very energetic dance that involves sweeping arms and legs. Music for disco dancing should be fast, with a pronounced tempo. Listen a little musical composition, get used to its rhythm and pace.

The disco choreographic pattern is quite simple. Start from the first base element disco - stand straight, bend your knees slightly, bend your arms at the elbows and press them to your body. Begin to intensively bend and straighten your legs, springing, swaying your whole body in musical beat. After a couple of such movements, start making movements with your hands. First, extend one arm at a time, and then do these movements with both arms at the same time.

Move your legs, stepping one leg at a time to the side. Rock constantly. Now perform the same movements to the side with your hands.

Turns and twists

After mastering basic movements, gradually complicate the dance elements. Place one leg behind the other and perform a turn. Straighten your knees and try to roll around on your toes. This element of the dance must be supplemented with arm movements that sharply and quickly straighten above the head. Once these elements are learned and the body gets used to the pace, the rest of the various movements will come naturally. Watch a video of disco dancing, remember everything you saw in various films. Try repeating these movements.

Disco dance elements can be very diverse, fast and energetic.
Before training in the disco, do a short warm-up, as too vigorous movements can damage the ligaments and muscles. Disco is a slightly comical, bright and slightly ridiculous dance. Defining the modern dance style “disco” is impossible without knowledge of its essence, characteristic disco movements, and the history of its development. Now disco is not the same pop dance that was performed for quite a long time to music in the disco style, the so-called “music of the 80s.” It is distinguished, first of all, by its high tempo, which requires good physical preparation from the performer, otherwise he simply will not be able to dance even half of the composition. Today, disco is both a dance and a sport. From dance (choreography) he took performance skills, positioned arms, legs, body, spiritual energy, the ability to convey his emotions to the audience, enter into invisible contact (communication) with them, and much more. From sports - clarity, precision of execution, elements of gymnastics and acrobatics, muscle training and physical endurance.

Disco fascinates with its energy, colorful costumes, and the ability of performers to cope with physical activity, a variety of elements and combinations, which combine elements of classical choreography and rhythmic gymnastics. However, anyone who wants to purposefully engage in disco must know and understand the goals and tasks that he has to accomplish. Such tasks could be:

  • Breathing apparatus training using aerobic jumping gymnastics;
  • Development of strength of the abdominal muscles, legs, arms, back;
  • Overcoming the barrier of “fatigue”;
  • Education psychological mood for multiple approaches during competitions;
  • Development creative activity, the ability to apply the learned connections and figures in independent production dance, etc.

All this perfectly trains the heart muscle and develops physical endurance, which are the main factors in improving health and psychological readiness for competition.

Disco it is forbidden! dance,if these problems are not solved, because can lead to undesirable consequences in the health of young dancers.

Disco it is forbidden! dance,if you do not include exercises that help solve these problems in the warm-up complex of any lesson. Such exercises can be (performed individually and in combination):

  • “Kick” with legs in place and moving in a circle;
  • Jumps;
  • Jumping gymnastics (on two legs, with rotation of the arms, legs apart, together with increasing tempo, etc.);
  • Swing jumps from different legs;
  • Power ground gymnastics: swinging legs in different directions, swinging legs in a “ring”, “duck”, “bicycle”, “pike”, “hoods”, etc.;
  • Flying and jumping gymnastics (“wheel”, sliding run, “straddle”, “screw”, “chasse” with different legs, etc.).

Disco it is forbidden! dance,if you don’t know the history of its development.

History of development.

Competitive disco dancing began in 1999 in St. Petersburg. It started with a get-together between 2 clubs “Boinvy” and “Monplaisir”. The duration of the performance at that time was 1.3 minutes, only in the solo the boys and girls were together. The compositions were based on pieces from MTV videos, mainly Five, Backstreet boys, Britney Spears, and the imagination of teachers.

In 2000, the first St. Petersburg championship in Freestyle (Disco) was held. And in 2001, the Russian team took its first trip to the IDO World and European Championships in Poland in Szczecin. At that championship the level of competitive disco dancing was visible. What immediately caught my eye was the presence of a large number of gymnastic elements in the “Children” category, all kinds of squats with jumps, active movements around the site using highways, jumps and just jogging. Very sharp work of the hands, turning off the elbows and finishing at a point with the hand in the fist, when moving, various chopping actions from the elbow.

Syncopated rhythm and cross movement (street Jack), a large number of jumps with kicks, rondas and swings prevailed.

In pairs and small groups there was a lot of synchronization, movements took place on jumps, highway, with acrobatic elements, wheel, roundabout, split jumps (pike), changing patterns after 2 beats with changing actions after a beat on the spot.

The leaders then were the Czech Republic and Poland. It was felt that it was they who set the fashion, both in composition and in costumes.

The musical size at that championship was from 96 to 120 beats per minute (24-30 t.) The IDO General Assembly decided to change the lower limit upward from 96 beats to 104 beats per minute on the recommendation Czech Republic as a leader at that time in this discipline. This made sense when using a jumping style, which is difficult to perform at a slow pace.

During this time, a lot has changed in disco performance, changes continue to this day. However, there are generally accepted rules for performing disco.

In the final, the judges evaluate the dancers, assigning them places (the participant with the most points receives a higher place).

But even knowing the rules of execution, Discoit is forbidden! dance,if you don’t protect your students from injury because... sprains, muscle tears and back injuries have become topical modern problem(in pursuit of leadership, results and victory). The greater the power and dynamics in the composition, the more likely these injuries become. The main everyday training causes of muscle sprains and tears are approximately the following:

1. Poor warm-up and thus unprepared muscles for “unpredictable load”.

2. Directly in movements - the so-called situation of “counter-movement” of body parts in complex movements (when it is necessary to abruptly move from one direction of inertia in movement to the opposite). Inconsistency in the movements of body parts can lead to such an injury. With sudden and explosive movements in general (for example, a strong leg swing), you may not calculate your permissible body amplitude.

3. Directly during stretching and flexibility exercises of the body, especially when stretching with a partner.

4. Life's accident - a collision plus a wrong fall or, in the end, just slipping, which leads to a fall, etc.

But! Knowing the “enemy” (reason), it is easier to fight him!

Small tips on how to protect your students from injury

1. Each person has a different degree of flexibility in their different parts bodies by nature. Therefore, warm up those parts of the body that are “stretched” worse for you more diligently than others, and they will be more receptive and ready for “unpredictability” and “randomness”, and you will hear (feel) them in your body through muscle sense better, which means you will have better control over them in your movements.

2. Be as muscular as possible and concentrate on the movement while performing this complex movement. Pre-play the movement in your head, break the movement into preparatory movements, try to work it out in parts, and then proceed to the whole movement at the desired speed of execution. In any case, the muscles will already “remember” something and will be more confident in this movement. If you feel very tired in your body, do not start a complex movement as a whole, it is better to practice it in parts. This will be even more beneficial for your performance technique, not to mention protecting you from injury.

3. Don't rush to stretch in one go! This is impossible! Increase the amplitude gradually and better regularly than occasionally. Be attentive during stretching exercises, “listen” to the sensation in your muscles. Do the exercise until you feel “mild discomfort” in the muscles, but not to the point of pain. Stretching usually occurs at the end of a workout when you are already tired, so remember this and stay alert during exercise. These are your muscles, control their condition.

Disco dance..

Probably, most people who hear this word immediately have an image of John Travolta and the 70s and 80s with their reckless youth rocking discos in bright, and sometimes ridiculous, outfits..

Flashing multi-colored spotlights, reflections of a mirror ball and the tireless rhythms of music...

Introduced?

Now forget about it, because we are talking about something completely different! We will talk about disco dance as a style that today can easily be classified as a sports dance.

It is quite difficult to describe the variety of styles and dance trends that disco dance has absorbed. Classical dance, jazz, Latin American dances, elements of rock and roll, aerobics, acrobatics and rhythmic gymnastics.. - and this is far from full list what is embodied in disco dance.

Disco dance is performed to fairly fast, energetic music, and therefore requires the performer to be in good physical shape and endurance. It’s not so easy to perform complex dance steps clearly, rhythmically and gracefully!

This can only be achieved through constant training! But believe me, it's worth it! The heart skips a beat with admiration at the sight of a dancer fluttering on the stage, whose dance not only conveys the powerful energy inherent in the music, but also, through the originality of the composition, allows one to hear the music in more “bright and saturated colors”, making it seem “voluminous.”

The main task is to compose a disco composition so that it reveals individuality, so that the dance comes “from the heart” of the performer, and is not reproduced unemotionally like a memorized lesson or morning work-out. Dance should bring pleasure, first of all, to the dancer, and only through this can the hearts and minds of other people be touched...

Currently, we can offer disco dance training on an individual basis, you can also sign up for disco lessons with a company, or leave a request to form a group. We will definitely contact you when we recruit a Disco Dance group.

And even if you do not plan to take disco dancing seriously, that is, in the future to participate in competitions, strive to become winners, etc., then disco dance lessons, in any case, will allow you to develop and improve coordination, reaction speed, endurance, grace, plastic. Also, learning disco dancing will keep you in good physical shape and create a great mood!

Disco freestyle fast - This fast dance, in which dance steps and choreography in a rhythm of up to 132-140 beats per minute are combined with elements of gymnastics and classical music.Disco fascinates with its energy, colorful costumes, the ability of performers to cope with physical activity, the variety of elements and combinations, which combine elements of classical choreography and rhythmic gymnastics. In class Disco freestyle fast training Breathe-helping machine With the help of aerobic jumping gymnastics, the strength of the abdominal muscles, legs, arms, back, and heart muscles is developed. Lessons Disco freestyle fast will help you gain endurance and self-confidence, which is important in the modern world!

I like this dance, firstly, because it gives me a lot positive emotions, freedom of movement, and self-confidence. Secondly, I feel that every movement is filled with grace and beauty. Thirdly, disco dance gives a breath of new life, fast, energetic and without the problems that await you outside the perimeter of the hall. As soon as I enter the hall for disco lessons, everything that worries me should leave my head and only dance and music should remain in it. The sense of rhythm should not disappear while you are moving. Disco dance classes not only support emotional activity, but also keep you in good physical shape. The stretching obtained during disco lessons is important both for an athlete and dancer, and for a person who is simply interested in sports and dancing. Physical training, after disco lessons, gives an advantage in others dance styles. Endurance increases every day.
This dance is not easy, but after seeing it and trying to practice, I realized that it was for me. And before you say “I can’t do that,” you need to try and learn to dance disco.

Disco is a bright holiday that immerses you in a state of sweet love. A dance that gives you a feeling of freedom and takes you away from everyday routine.
