Eurovision list of participants in the qualifying round. Beautiful design and song by Sergei Lazarev

The sixty-first Eurovision Song Contest 2016 (Wikipedia) will be held in Sweden. It will be available to watch from May 10 to May 14, 2016. Swede Mons Semlerlev, winner of last year's Eurovision in the capital of Austria, Vienna, gave his country the opportunity to become the host of this international competition of pop singers (don't laugh, everyone really performs on the stage!).

The semi-finals will be held on May 10 and 12, and who won will become known on May 14, 2016, when the final, long-awaited by all of us, ends. For Sweden, holding a competition of this level is not the first test. Previously, representatives of the European continent competed in this country five times - in 1975, 1985, 1992, 2000, 2013. Therefore, Sweden has a lot of experience in hosting Eurovision, and its capital, Stockholm, will host it for the third time.

The competition will be covered by the Swedish national broadcaster SVT under the leadership of the European Broadcasting Union. The festival will be held online. It will also be shown in countries that are not territorially European - Australia, Canada, USA, India, South Korea, Egypt, Lebanon, South Africa, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and some others. It will also be possible to watch the progress of the song competition on the Internet.

According to tradition, the participants will pass the semi-finals on Tuesday (May 10) and Thursday (May 12). The final is Saturday evening, prime time (the most convenient time) for most residents of the European continent. Due to the time difference, residents of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, and other countries of the former... will be able to watch the live broadcast of the final on the night from Saturday to Sunday.

Only one participant from each country can participate - a soloist or a musical group. In this case, no more than six people participating in the performance can be on stage at the same time. The duration of the song performed should not exceed three minutes.

Who won is determined by tossing a coin to vote among television viewers of all countries whose representatives participated in the semi-finals and finals of the competition, as well as members of the jury.

Under what conditions does the Eurovision Song Contest take place?

Participation in the competition is subject to the following conditions:
  • Participants must be over 16 years of age of any nationality. However, they may not have citizenship of the country they support.
  • The song performed can only be new. This means that it should not be recorded before the first of September of the previous year.
  • All participants enter into a contract with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) that the winner (singer or group) undertakes, in the event of winning the competition, to be present at all events and tours held by the EBU.

Concert venue of the competition

The choice of venues for the competition was not so simple. Twelve cities in Sweden expressed a desire to provide their concert venues for the competition. As announced by the Swedish national broadcaster SVT, the organizer of the broadcasts, they must meet the following requirements:
  • Capacity - at least 10,000 people.
  • The area for services (except for the hall and stage) is at least 6000 square meters.
  • Availability of sound and light insulation.
  • No other activities must take place at the competition venue for a period of at least six weeks.
Therefore, from among the applicants, in the end only two cities remained - Stockholm and Gothenburg. Only their proposed competition venues met the above requirements. The final decision on who won was made by the SVT television company in July 2015 - this will be the Errickson Globe arena in Stockholm, with a capacity of 16,000 people (although who knows how many would be seated there if tickets were free), which previously hosted Eurovision 2000 (Wikipedia).

Thus, the competition will be held in the world's largest spherical structure from which you can follow the stars, designed to host large-scale sporting and concert events. It is interesting that the place where this arena is located - the Globe City microdistrict - was built in Stockholm specifically for it. Imagine the scale of the arena!

In November 2015, the composition of the countries participating in the competition became known. Representatives of 43 powers will take part in it. Among those who did not participate in previous competitions, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine, Bulgaria and Croatia will compete again. Australia will continue to participate in the song competition (although... where is Australia and where are we...)

Rule changes

Eurovision 2016 will be held under changed rules. The European Broadcasting Union announced that a new format for counting and announcing votes in the finals will be used. This is done in order to avoid cases when participants do not collect them at all and end their performances with a zero result and, accordingly, with a donut hole. This innovation, according to the organizers, will shorten the final time of the competition and add more intrigue to the process of announcing the results. Now the vote counting process will look like this:

The jury voting results are announced separately from the audience voting results.
- first, the participants who have scored 12 points from the jury are announced, and scores from one to ten will be shown on the screen.
- then the votes of the audience are counted and announced. In this case, they will be named from smallest to largest. That is, the country with the most votes in the audience vote will be named last.

Who won will be known after summing up the votes from the jury and the audience.

Competition partners and presenters
According to the European Broadcasting Union, Eurovision in 2016 will have the following partners:
  • National partner – SiljaLine company
  • Official partner – mobile operator Tele 2
  • Official cosmetic partner – Schwarzkopf, the world's largest manufacturer of cosmetic products
  • Lighting partner – German company Osram
SVT presented the presenters of the competition back in December 2015. This is Petra Mede, who hosted Eurovision 2013, and Måns Selmerlöw, the winner of this singing competition last year.
Slogan and logo of the Eurovision Song Contest 2016
The name of one of the songs of the quartet “The Beatles” became the slogan of the competition. “Come Together” - this call will accompany participants and spectators around the world during the short time that the competition will take place. http://www..html

The essence of the slogan is that since the formation of Eurovision in the distant fifties of the last century, the idea of erasing borders between states, the idea of uniting people has not lost its meaning. There should be no politics or ideology in the atmosphere of the competition, nothing should divide people (Whisky, Champagne and other funny drinks are allowed!).

The competition logo was a dandelion flower. This decision was commented on by the press relations coordinator for Eurovision 2016 - Lotta Loosme, of course he allowed him to make a blunt! The idea is that the participants should unite, like the seeds of this flower, coming together in Stockholm. And the power and joy of music will generate the energy that will be expressed visually in this magical plant.

Concert hall stage

The design of the scene is such that lighting will be used as the main component to create depth. The overall design solution also includes the creation of an innovative LED wall. It will allow the show participants on stage to move inside it.

Rehearsals for representatives of the Big Five countries - Italy, Spain, France, Germany and Great Britain, as well as Sweden, as the host of the competition, will take place and will be shown in the semi-finals. This gives them a certain advantage in preparing their performances, which, of course, will improve the quality of the show itself. For viewers, this is an additional opportunity to better see what the automatic finalists take to the stage with.

How did the draw for the competition take place?

A draw was held at Stockholm City Hall on January 25, 2016. All 37 participating countries were divided into two semi-finals:

  • First – 18 countries
  • The second - 19 countries, including Israel, due to the fact that the date of the first semi-final coincided with a memorable day in this country.
Participants were divided into six baskets:
Basket No. 1 – Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Albania, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia.
Basket No. 2 – Finland, Norway, Iceland, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia.
Basket No. 3 – Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Georgia.
Basket No. 4 – Belgium, the Netherlands, Bulgaria, Greece, Cyprus, Australia.
Basket No. 5 – Czech Republic, San Marino, Malta. Lithuania, Ireland, Poland.
Basket No. 6 – Hungary, Israel, Austria, Moldova, Switzerland, Romania.

Taking into account the countries automatically included in the finals of the competition and Sweden as the host country, representatives of 43 countries will take part in the competition, which is a record number in the entire history of Eurovision.

Portugal, Slovakia, Turkey, Andorra, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Morocco, Monaco and Lebanon expressed their refusal to participate for various reasons.

Participants in the first semi-final:

  • Armenia, Hungary, the Netherlands, Greece, San Marino. Finland, Croatia, Moldova, Russia – the first half of the participants.
  • Iceland, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Austria, Estonia, Czech Republic, Montenegro, Malta, Cyprus are participants in the second half.
  • At this stage of the competition, the participating countries will vote: France, Spain and Sweden.
Participants of the second semi-final:
  • Ireland, Israel, Macedonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Serbia, Switzerland, Poland, Belarus, Australia - the first half of the participants.
  • Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Norway, Georgia, Albania, Slovenia, Romania, Ukraine - the second half of the participants.
  • At this stage of the competition, the participating countries will vote - Italy, Germany, Great Britain.
How the final will go

In the final of the 2016 competition, unlike last year, only 26 participants will perform, the ten best from each semi-final. The Big Five countries of Italy, Spain, France, Germany and the UK are participating in the out-of-competition final, as well as Sweden as host of the festival.

In 2015 there were 27 due to Australia being shortlisted along with the Big Five and Austria (Wikipedia).

About some of the competition participants

Germany Jamie will be represented at Eurovision by Lee Krivitz, a 17-year-old schoolgirl from Lower Saxony. At a performance in Cologne, the girl amazed the audience with her rich vocals and outfit in the style of Japanese manga comics, false eyelashes and flowing hair on her shoulders. Her young age, the childish smile of a girl from the outback, her original headdress, all this made an indelible impression on the audience. After all, Eurovision is, first and foremost, a television show. At the all-German singing competition for a trip to Stockholm, the girl performed the song Ghost in English and, according to the public, was the best among ten applicants.

Jamie managed to win the German version of the show “The Voice” before Cologne. This rhythm of life takes her significantly away from school, but she hopes to receive a matriculation certificate. At a performance in the capital of Sweden, Krivitz will sing the same song Ghost and intends to appear in an outfit without the use of wool, leather, silk and feathers - in a “vegan” suit.

In the meantime, she cannot believe her happiness, as she tells the journalists besieging her. When asked about her idols, Krivitz names the winner of Eurovision 2010, Lena Mayer Landrut, and wants to be like her. Being an obedient daughter, Jamie is eager to finish the interview quickly and go to her parents. Until she becomes an adult, they do not allow her to be on stage after twenty-three hours. After all, the young singer will turn eighteen just in Stockholm during the Eurovision Song Contest.

Russia will be presented at the competition by Sergei Lazarev. This was announced at the Russian National Music Award ceremony at Crocus City Hall, where he was awarded one of the main awards in Russian show business, Singer of the Year. The thirty-three-year-old singer had previously rejected the opportunity to participate in the competition, but then changed his mind. The author of the song he liked to perform at Eurovision was Philip Kirkorov. This time, the participant from Russia was not determined by the “popular selection” method, but was chosen by professionals in this field.

Sergey was born on April 1, 1983 in Moscow. From an early age he began to play sports, participate in competitions and win, but then he realized that he loved music more. Having left sports, he continued to study in children's musical ensembles, such as “Fidgets” and the ensemble named after V. Loktev. Since 1995, in Fidgets, Sergei Lazarev performed together with future members of the Tatu group - Lena Katina and Yulia Volkova, as well as with Vlad Topalov. As part of this children's group, Sergei took part in the filming of various television programs and festivals.

In 2001, the “Smash” project was born, the participants of which are Sergei and his colleague Vlad Topalov. At the “New Wave” competition in Jurmala in 2002, the duet won and released the first video for the song “Belle” from the musical “Notre Dame de Paris”. The work was a huge success; the video stayed at the top of the MTV charts for six months.

In February of the same year, the group's first album, “Freeway,” was released. It almost immediately became “gold”, and five songs from it began to occupy the top lines of famous hit parades. The duo's discs were sold in huge quantities in Russia and the CIS countries. In December 2001, the guys’ second album, “2nite,” was released, but it also became the last in the work of the “Smash” group. At the end of the year, Lazarev leaves the group and begins a solo career.

December 2005 - the release of Sergei’s debut solo album, recorded in London, entitled “DontbeFake”, consisting of twelve compositions. It was distributed throughout Russia in quantities of more than 200 thousand copies. Since the beginning of 2006, Lazarev’s first Russian-language composition, “Even if you leave,” began to be heard on Russian radio channels. Based on the results of this year, he becomes the owner of the title “Best Singer of the Year” of MTV-Russia, as well as the MUZ-TV “Breakthrough of the Year” award.

In 2007, the second album “TV - Show” was released and videos were shot for five songs from it. A Russian-language version of the ballad “Almostsorry” called “Why was love invented” is being recorded.

In addition to his songwriting, Sergei Lazarev takes second place in the “Dancing on Ice” project and wins the first television show “Circus with the Stars.” As a presenter, he participated in the projects “Song of the Year”, “Dance!”, “New Wave” on Channel One, as well as “Maidans”, which can be watched in Ukraine. In 2014, Lazarev was a mentor of one of the teams of the Ukrainian version of “The Voice of the Country”.

For 2008 and 2009, the singer received the most prestigious music awards in Russia:

  • MUZ-TV – “Best Performer of the Year”
  • MTV - “Best Artist of the Year”
  • ZDAWARDS – “Best Performer”
In the period 2010 – 2011, having a contract with the music company Sony Music Entertainment, Sergey presented the album “Electric Touch”, which in the summer of 2011 became “gold” in sales and won the Muz-TV 2011 award in the “Best Album” category.

The fourth album was released in December 2012 and under the name “Lazarev”, already in March of the following year it acquired “Golden” status.

In the entire history of Eurovision, Russia managed to win the competition only once. Then in 2008 the winner was Dima Belan with the song “Believe”. Since that time, all participants have not been able to repeat Dima’s success. The most successful performances were in 2012 by Buranovsky Babushki with “Party for Everybody” - 2nd place and in 2015 by Polina Gagarina with “A Million Voices” - 2nd place. In other years, after Belan’s victory, participants from Russia took places from fifth to sixteenth.

Since 2003, Sergei Lazarev’s candidacy as a candidate for participation in Eurovision has been constantly considered at internal selections. But every time it didn’t work out. Now, when on December 15, 2015, during the ceremony of the First National Music Award, he was officially announced as the representative of Russia at Eurovision 2016, nothing should interfere with the performance.

Belarus Alexander Ivanov (stage name IVAN) will represent the competition. He was born in Belarus in the city of Gomel on October 29, 1994. He began studying music at the age of eight, entering a music school to study classical guitar. There he began singing in the choir and solo. Alexander's relatives, father and brother, are also musicians.

In 2009, he took part in the Mass Medium Fest competition, the qualifying round of which was successful. This was the beginning of his musical career. The next period of Alexander’s life is associated with St. Petersburg, where he moved to develop his creativity and study rock music. During this period, he participated in the television project “Battle of the Choirs”, where the rock choir, under the direction of Viktor Drobysh, took second place.

Next, Alexander Ivanov and members of the group “BrownVelvet” record several songs - “On the oncoming lane,” “Where,” “Continuing the path,” white soul.” Subsequently, this group, created in Belarus, was renamed, the group began to be called IVANOV.

The next stage of creative life was participation and victory in the “Five Stars” competition, which was held in Yalta in 2014. The main prize of the festival - a precious star made of metals - was awarded to Alexander Ivanov. This gave the right to represent Russia at the international competition “Intervision”, an alternative to the current Eurovision competition. However, it was subsequently cancelled.

In the future, Alexander’s work is associated with the name of Victor Drobysh. In 2015, Ivanov, in the same Yalta, attracted the attention of songwriting professionals. At this time, the “Main Stage” competition was held in Crimea. Alexander’s performance with Nikolai Noskov’s song “I Don’t Settle for Less” was a success. When the time came to choose a team and coach, he chose Drobysh, although Igor Matvienko also showed interest in Alexander. As a result - second place in the competition and the “Producers' Choice” award. Victor Drobysh speaks very highly of this talented guy from the Republic of Belarus and is ready to continue working with him.

The first result of their collaboration was the single “Cross and Palm,” which has already become popular and in demand on air. Now performing in concerts and working on recording his first solo album leaves Alexander almost no free time. Drawing pictures with acrylic is one of the singer’s hobbies, not counting wushu classes and, of course, communicating with friends.

In the national selection for Eurovision 2016, Alexander Ivanov, where he performed under the stage name IVAN, performed the song “Help you fly”. Its life-affirming text encourages, despite the difficulties of life, to always find the strength to rise and fly. Before execution, a team led by Viktor Drobysh worked on it. Its participants are Andrey Slonchinsky, Timofey Leontyev, Milos Raymond Rosas (arrangement and sound) and Mary Applegate (lyrics). Ivanov’s press release, distributed before the competition, states: “IVAN is a bright modern knight who brings goodness and light to the world. IVAN is a synthesis of the noble image of the medieval knight Ivanhoe and the Slavic hero Ivan. “Help you fly” is not just a song, it’s a ballad! A new story, a new image, a new hero IVAN begins with her.”

In his interviews after winning the national selection of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Ivanov enthusiastically says that he himself still does not believe what happened, that he won. But the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 is approaching. Continuing work on the song “Help you fly”, which he will perform there, the singer promises to surprise the audience.

Ukraine at Eurovision 2016 will be represented by a singer named Jamala (Susana Jamaladinova). She was born in Kyrgyzstan (Osh city) on August 27, 1983. The singer spent her childhood in Crimea, where her family returned after the deportation of the Crimean Tatar people. She graduated from a music school with a degree in piano in the city of Alushta. During my studies, at the age of 9, I made my first professional studio recording of twelve children’s and folk Crimean Tatar songs.

After graduating from the music school and the National Academy of Music named after P. I. Tchaikovsky in Kyiv in opera vocal class, Jamala first thought about studying classical music and dreamed of working in the Milanese opera LaSkala. However, over time, she became seriously interested in jazz and began experimenting with soul and oriental music. This changed her plans for the future and determined the direction of her creative activity.

The big stage became available to Jamala at the age of fifteen. Performing at many vocal competitions, including abroad, she received a number of prestigious awards. An important stage in her life was an invitation from the famous Ukrainian choreographer Irina Kolyadenko to play the main role in the multi-genre musical “Pa”. This happened in 2006, when the singer performed at the Do*DJjunior jazz festival of young performers, where she was awarded a special prize.

Jamala became the winner of the International Competition “New Wave - 2009”, where she was awarded the Grand Prix Award. This became a turning point in creativity and gave the opportunity to perform at many concert venues in Europe. In the same year, Cosmopolitan magazine named her “Discovery of the Year.” She also receives the “Person of the Year” award, and in the “Singer of the Year” nomination - the ElleStyle Award.

In 2011, the singer participated in the national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Smile”, but took third place after Mika Newton and Zlata Ognevich. In the same year, Jamala’s first album “For Every Heart” was released with fifteen songs, eleven of which were original.

In 2012, the singer took part in the show “Stars at the Opera” in a duet with Vlad Pavlyuk and won. For the Euro 2012 football championship, the song “Goal” was written, performed by Jamala during the final draw. Then viewers from 150 countries saw and heard her. During this period, the performer actively participates in festivals, such as the largest jazz festival in the CIS “Usadba Jazz” in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Becomes the headliner of the Alpha Jazz festival in Lviv, as well as the international festival of opera, operetta and musical O - Fest in Kyiv.

The second album "AllorNotting" was released on March 19, 2013. As in the first album, the majority of them featured original songs - eleven out of twelve.

In 2015, the performer’s third album, entitled “Podikh,” was released. In it, the author of the music, vocal arrangements and most of the lyrics was Jamala herself. The songs were recorded in different languages - three each in Russian and English and six songs in Ukrainian. In the fall, a tour took place in the thirteen largest cities of Ukraine called “The Way to Dodoma”. At the YUNA 2016 awards ceremony, the performer won the “Best Album”, “Best Song”, “Best Singer”, “Best Duet” awards.

At Eurovision 2016, Jamala will perform with the song “1944,” with which she won the national selection. She wrote it last year under the impression of her grandmother’s story about the events of 1944 of the last century associated with the forced deportation of the Crimean Tatar people. This tragedy is close to many peoples of the world and should find understanding. This is a very personal song for the singer. Jamala hopes that the message contained in her should be heard by as many people as possible from all over the world.

There is very little time left before the start of Eurovision 2016. Participants and organizers are preparing in full swing. The world will know who won very soon. All competition participants are presented with biographies, lyrics, video clips or video performances on this page at the top!

Eurovision 2016 - the results of the competition were unexpected for many. The best performances were chosen through a joint vote of television viewers and jury members according to the new voting system. What is the result of the new voting system?

In 2016, the total score was increased to 4872 due to changes in the voting procedure. Naturally, for such large numbers, an overall result of less than 100 points is very bad. According to the results of Eurovision 2016, 6 countries showed exactly this result:

  • The rock band Minus One took 21st place, representing Cyprus with the song “Alter Ego” - they scored only 96 points.
  • Following Cyprus is Spain with the singer Barej and the song “Say yay!” - 77 points.
  • Croatia and its representative Nina Kraljic, who performed “Lighthouse,” took 23rd position. Not only was she one of the worst performers in the competition, scoring just 73 points, but she also earned the Barbara Dex Award for the most ridiculous costume.
  • Joe & Jake from the UK performed “You’re not alone” and remained at number 24 with 62 points.
  • Czech singer Gabriela Guncikova with the song “I stand” did not deserve a single audience vote, and the result for her was 41 points from the jury.
  • Germany and its representative Jamie-Lee took the last line with the song “Ghost” - she scored only 11 points, and her costume took second place in the list of the most ridiculous.

Thus, the results of Eurovision 2016 showed that the Big Five countries again did not distinguish themselves with successful performances - more than half of them were in the list of the worst.

Eurovision 2016 results - interesting performances

The final table of Eurovision 2016 results showed that many performers can present very interesting and original numbers to the viewer, which makes them stand out from the crowd of participants.

On the 4th line was from Bulgaria with the song “If love was a Crime”, which she performed in a mixture of English and Bulgarian. The girl's outfit was included in the list of the most ridiculous ones, but it was very memorable thanks to the light inserts.

The host country of Eurovision 2016, Sweden, was represented, whose performance was extremely simple. It was supported only by a light screen, spreading with hundreds of lights, like stars. France earned his 5th place with the composition “If I were sorry” solely thanks to his vocal abilities.

France is in 6th place - the best result of the Big Five this year. Amir Haddad performed the song “J’ai cherche”, performed in English and French, accompanied by “cosmic” animation.

Iveta Mukuchyan from Armenia with the song “LoveWave” complemented her stunning vocals with smoke, fire, a rather revealing outfit, as well as a projection, which delighted the audience and gave the girl 7th place.

The eccentric Polish performer Mikhail Szpak earned his 8th place, mainly thanks to television viewers, because in total he scored 229 points, while the jury gave him only 7.

Donny Montel represented Lithuania for the second time - the first took place in 2012. This time, his composition “I’ve been waiting for this night” was on line 8, which is significantly better than the previous result, when he managed to take only 14th place.

The results of the Eurovision 2016 final showed that Belgian Laura Tesoro completed the top 10 performances of the competition with the song “What’s the Pressure?”, accompanied by very energetic dancing.

Eurovision 2016 - voting results, there is room for improvement

The final of the competition was presented by 10 more countries, so it is also interesting which of them took what place at Eurovision 2016.

On the 13th line is the Austrian Zoe with the composition “Loin d’ici” - the only one performed in the state French language without any admixture of English.

Hovi Stra from Israel with the song “Made of Stars” was in 14th place, and right behind him with a gap of 3 points was the Latvian Justs and his “Hearbeat”.

Italy, as usual, showed an average result - Francesca Michielin and “No degree of separation” took 16th place.

  • Azerbaijani Semra and her “Miracle” took 17th position.

In 18th place was Sanja Vučić, who represented Serbia with the song “Goodbye”, followed by the Hungarian singer Freddy with the song “Pioneer”.

The top 20 performers were completed by the rock band from Georgia Nika Kocharov & Young Geotgian Lolitaz with the song “Midnight Gold”.

Of course, these performers have something to strive for. But the fact that they managed to make it to the finals of a world-class competition and showed far from the worst results is in itself a real achievement.

Eurovision 2016 - results of the best

The 2016 Eurovision final took place on May 14 in the Swedish capital of Stockholm. A total of 42 countries took part in this year's event, but only 26 of them were able to show their performances in the final part of the competition. The results of the Eurovision 2016 voting showed that the best performance was the one that represented Ukraine at the competition with the song “1944”.

This conclusion was quite unexpected both for the jury members and for television viewers. After all, both of them gave Ukraine only second place. However, the final sum of votes turned out to be the maximum in this competition and amounted to 534 points.

Second place at Eurovision 2016 went to last year's debutant - Australia and its representative with the composition "Sound of Silence". In 2015, Australia made its debut at Eurovision, which caused a lot of gossip in the press, as the country made it to the final without skipping the semi-finals. The situation softened a little when the competition rules for Australia were announced to be tightened. In order to continue to have the right to participate in Eurovision, a performer from a country had to take one of the prizes. Unfortunately, this did not happen, so Australia was not scheduled to attend the 2016 competition. However, the EBU still allowed the country to present its performer in the second semi-final, where Dami Im took the leading position.

According to the results of the Eurovision 2016 voting, the top three was completed by a performer from Russia with the song “You are the only one”. His performance was accompanied by animation on an interactive screen behind him, creating the illusion of the artist floating in space. Overall, the performance was very impressive and amazed many spectators.

It is interesting to note the fact that the final tables of Eurovision 2016 from the jury members and from television viewers foreshadowed a different final of the competition. The jury members awarded the palm to Australia, and the television viewers awarded it to Sergei Lazarev. Both of them agreed that Ukraine should rightfully be in second place. However, the sum of the votes showed that, as a result, the victory went to Ukraine, and Australia and Russia could only take the following prizes.

These are the results of the Eurovision Song Contest 2016. Will last year's favorites be able to stay on Olympus or will they join the ranks of outsiders - we won't have long to wait for an answer to this question.

The final of the Eurovision 2016 music competition took place in Stockholm. Sergey Lazarev took 3rd place: his performance was incredibly spectacular, and the song foreshadows becoming the main hit of 2016. Bookmakers considered participants from Belgium, Latvia, Georgia, Poland, Israel and Bulgaria among the favorites . However, in reality, the main struggle for leadership took place between the Russian performer and the singer from Ukraine. Spectators and listeners are interested in Eurovision 2016 - the results of the final.

Official sources provided information and a chronicle of the final.

Beautiful design and song by Sergei Lazarev

Sergei Lazarev did not even plan to perform at the famous music competition. However, the Russian committee announced that Lazarev will represent Russia at Eurovision. Initially, Sergei was supposed to perform at number 9 in the semi-finals. Many bookmakers predicted the victory of the Russian performer at the famous competition. In addition, the main producer of Sergei was the “king” of the local stage, Philip Kirkorov. He has previously taken part in Eurovision and produced such performers as Ani Lorak and Sakis Rouvas. Therefore, Philip knew about any intricacies of the music competition.

The Russian channel VGTRK independently chose Lazarev as a Eurovision participant. Therefore, there were no audience votes or any qualifying competitions. Perhaps this was the right decision.

There were different opinions about whether Sergei Lazarev could win or lose in the current competition. Some companies openly stated that the Russian performer would not be able to win first place due to the acute political situation. However, several months before the start of the competition, Sergei’s song occupied the leading positions in the popular charts. In addition, during one of the semi-final rehearsals, the performer fell and received minor abrasions and bruises. However, this only added to Lazarev’s confidence. More details about the Eurovision 2016 music competition and the results of the finals in the table are presented on the official resource.
This time everything worked out for the Russian performer.

Eurovision for Sergey Lazarev

According to many experts and bookmakers, the Russian performer with a mesmerizing performance remained the leader of the music competition. Magnificent special effects, musical accompaniment, and the singer’s performance made an indelible impression on many television viewers from all over Europe. At the famous competition, Lazarev was surrounded by a professional team of experienced specialists and musicians who have represented performers at Eurovision more than once. As mentioned earlier, Kirkorov became the main director and producer of the act. He won second place in the popular competition together with Ani Lorak and Dima Bilan, as well as sixth place with Dmitry Koldun.

To be honest, Sergei Lazarev had great chances to win the long-awaited first place at the Eurovision Song Contest. However, it was impossible to relax for a minute. Since after the end of the second semi-final, the leading position was taken by the Australian singer Demi. In addition, she had already performed in similar competitions before and had a lot of experience. However, everyone expected the main fight for first place between Ukraine and Russia. In this way, it would be possible to place political points and positions. However, the music competition, as is known, is not political, but has some background.

Ukrainian singer Jamala

Mainly in music competition, many countries choose to give their votes to friendly allies or neighbors. Therefore, it is almost impossible to win only thanks to vocals and a beautiful performance. In this finale, many states and countries were divided into several fronts, those who supported the Russian course of policy, and Ukraine's position on this issue. A few days before the final, opinions and scandals constantly circulated around the performer from Ukraine. Jamala refused to give interviews to Russian journalists and answer questions. Accordingly, Ukrainian sources of information quickly embraced the wave of negativity and directed it at the audience of the competition.

Final competition

As the main sources of RIA Novosti reported, according to Russian spectators and the jury of the music competition, the first place was taken by the performer from Armenia Mukuchyan Iveti. According to Sergei Lazarev, the Russian team managed to attract attention and overcome negative emotions from the local and European public.

“At the very beginning, each of us understood certain “nuances” in relation to Russian performers. However, we were pleasantly surprised when we learned that we were able to suppress the negative attitude towards Russian performers. People are wondering how Eurovision 2016 ended: the results of the final, places, which countries won the leading positions?

Lazarev said that he was warned about the attitude towards local performers. For several years, many spectators had negative attitudes and reactions to the performances of Russian singers. Even despite the fact that they performed at a high and worthy level. This final was incredible for the Russian performer, since all viewers in Europe voted for him. It was they who gave their votes to Sergei Lazarev and awarded first place at the end of Eurovision. However, the opinions of the jury, representing 42 countries, were not so unanimous.
According to the voting results, in the final part of the competition the jury from Ukraine did not award even one point to the Russian performer. While the residents of Ukraine unanimously gave their votes to Sergei and awarded him 12 points. Official information was published on the website of the music competition.

The king of Russian pop music and producer Philip Kirkorov wrote the words to the song “You are the only one.” In addition, the famous singer noted that the opinion of the audience is the most important achievement and result. “A huge number of television viewers cast their votes for the Russian performer Sergei Lazarev. Eurovision 2016 music competition: final results, scores for each participant are presented on the official resource. Therefore, the main achievement is their opinion and number one choice.”

Russian singer Lazarev said in his interview that this result is a huge victory for him in terms of achievement at the music competition. The bronze medal is a wonderful achievement, according to the Russian singer. As the performer himself stated, for him participation in the competition is already a big victory. In fact, 3rd place is a worthy result for every musician. Therefore, Lazarev was very pleased that he was appreciated and without bias. The singer noted that his brain “exploded” and he couldn’t wait for the competition to end. He was filled with positive emotions and excitement.

According to the final vote of TV viewers and judges, the winner of the music competition was the performer from Ukraine Jamala. As a result, she scored a total of 534 points. Everyone is interested in Eurovision 2016: the results of the final, 2nd place, who got it? Australian Demi took second place with 511 points. Accordingly, Russian performer Sergei Lazarev won third place and an honorary “bronze medal” with a score of 491. As noted earlier, for the audience, Sergei finished this competition in first place.

The main organizers of the music competition decided to introduce a new system for counting votes. Now it has become competitive and unpredictable in terms of the final result. Thus, as it turned out, the winner could be the one who was determined by the judges. It is worth recalling that a little earlier, only viewers took part in the voting. However, every year the organizers change the rules and introduce some new items or already proven vote counting systems.

According to the rules, judges must give their votes to performers on a point system from 1 to 12. Based on the results of the music competition, judges' opinions will be counted by leading European countries, as a rule. In parallel with this process, TV viewers can give preference to their favorite performer (exception, you cannot vote for your country) from 1 to 12 points. People will not rest until they find out the results of the final: Eurovision 2016.

At the end of the voting, they are summed up and announced after the results of the judge's decision.
The voting process begins with the country with the lowest number of judges' points. Accordingly, at the end of this process, the overall result can be significantly adjusted for a particular musician.

The Eurovision 2016 music competition was broadcast on the first channel and on the official YouTube portal. More detailed voting results can be found in the table below.

May 14, 2016 is a holiday for music and vocal lovers - it is on this day that the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 will take place. The final of the competition, as always, will be preceded by semi-finals. The first of them will most likely take place on May 10, and the second on May 14, 2016.

It will be held in Sweden, since the winner of the last Eurovision was the Swedish singer Måns Zelmerlöw. In 2016, the organizers decided to host this music competition in the capital - Stockholm, on the stage of the Globe Arena. By the way, the Globe Arena stage is no stranger to such responsibility - it hosted Eurovision 2000. And in total, the longest music competition will be held in Sweden for the sixth time.

Who will be the host of Eurovision 2016? It seems that it has become known who will host Eurovision 2016. At least, the Swedish newspaper Expressen reports that the 61st song contest will be hosted by last year's Eurovision winner Måns Selmerlöw and Petra Mede. The singer has impressive experience in hosting such competitions, and Petra Mede was the host of Eurovision in 2013. Then the competition took place in the Swedish city of Malmo. Petra was the only presenter that time, but she coped with her role perfectly. Time will tell whether the Swedish newspaper's assumptions will come true, and who will actually appear on the stage of the Global Arena as a presenter.

Eurovision 2016 is already the 61st song contest. More than half a century of history – that’s solid! October 19 is a special day for Eurovision, and in 2015 it also became an anniversary. It was on this day exactly 60 years ago that the annual General Assembly of the European Broadcasting Union took place in Rome. One of the main issues of this meeting was the approval of the Eurovision Song Contest. Swiss television submitted an application to host the first competition, and the Assembly, in turn, accepted this application. So in the spring of 1956, the annual European music competition was launched in Lugano.

The upcoming 61st competition will be memorable for Eurovision veteran Iceland. The country will celebrate 30 years of participation in the competition. Russia will enter the music ring for the 19th time.

The composition of participating countries is constantly changing. Thus, Portugal, as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina, refused to participate in the competition, citing financial difficulties as the reason for their refusal. But to the great joy of pop music connoisseurs, Ukraine and Turkey, who were absent last year, are returning to the Eurovision 2016 company! To date, 24 countries have confirmed their participation, namely:
Austria
Belarus
Belgium
Great Britain
Hungary
Germany
Denmark
Israel
Ireland
Iceland
Spain
Latvia
Lithuania
Mallow
Netherlands
Norway
Russia
Türkiye
Ukraine
Finland
France
Sweden
Estonia

The appearance of debutants is also likely. They may be Kazakhstan, the Republic of Kosovo, the Faroe Islands and Liechtenstein.

Who will go to Eurovision from Russia?- is no longer a secret. Based on the results of the fourth stage, two duets of Polina Gagarina advanced to the semifinals - with Sergei Lazarev and Dima Bilan. But in 2016, Sergey Lazarev will represent Russia at Eurovision - this is absolutely certain. We have no doubt that he will cope with this task with dignity and will delight his fans with his creativity. We wish good luck and luck to the singer!

All other participating countries are also preparing with all their might for the upcoming competition. It is known that this year the Estonian selection of Eesti Laul received a record number of applications for the country - 238. Most likely, such a manifestation of interest in Eurovision among such a singing nation was facilitated by the successful performance of Elina and Stig, representatives of Estonia at Eurovision 2015. Let us remind you that they took 7th place in the final of the competition.

But the representative of Belarus this year will be determined solely by audience voting.

It remains to add that Eurovision 2016 will differ from previous competitions in some innovations in voting. Thus, the Big Five countries (which are Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Spain and France) will participate in the semi-finals along with other countries. This also applies to Sweden, the host of the show. The innovation is that these countries will be able to take part in the semi-final voting, but their representatives, regardless of the voting results, will still become finalists of the competition automatically. The show's supervisor, Jon Ola Sann, believes that this will benefit the music competition; he has not yet given more detailed comments.

It doesn’t give, it doesn’t give. We just have to follow the news and wait for the brightest musical event of the new year. There is only one thing left until Eurovision 2016... The countdown has begun!
