Proportions of a lion. How to draw a lion with colored pencils

In today's photo tutorial we will show you how to draw a lion with colored pencils step by step. The technique of drawing such an animal is very simple, so even a child can cope with it.

You need to prepare the following materials:

  • a sheet of drawing paper of any size;
  • a simple pencil N or HB;
  • eraser;
  • colour pencils.

So, first we need to create a sketch of the animal with a simple pencil. We start by creating the head and lush mane of the lion. Draw an oval, and then outline the mane around the oval.

Gradually completing the drawing small parts drawing - tail and ears.

And the final stage of the sketch is drawing the fur, eyes, nose and mustache. After which we remove all excess pencil lines with an eraser.

Let's start painting with color. We start this process with an orange tint and draw the lion’s mane with it. We make its ends a little richer than the main tone.

We draw the tip of the tail, its tassel, not in yellow, but in orange.

Now you need to create a contrasting outline of the mane; to do this, outline it with a brown pencil.

We also use it to sketch out the ears and outline the outline of the animal’s body.

Using a black pencil, draw the face. We trace all the lines as shown in the photo.

Paint over the lion's nose, leaving a small highlight of white on it.

We also create animal eyes with it.

Then, so that the tail does not get lost against the background of the lion’s mane, we outline its outline with a brown or black pencil. Draw in black tone inner part ear.

Let's add a plane to our drawing. Green pencil carry out horizontal line and begin to shade the bottom of the sheet with it.

Under the lion's paws we create a dark, dense shadow with brown and black tones.

You can add a few bushes of grass nearby.

That's it, the picture is completely ready!

Everyone remembers such wonderful cartoons as “The Lion King”, “The Lion Cub and the Turtle”. What great graphics beautiful images amazingly realistic! Would you like to be able to draw like that? Or is your child asking for it? Then let's figure out how to draw a lion. Where do we start? Right! From preparation necessary tools. Should lie in front of you Blank sheet paper of any size, oriented horizontally. Pencil (preferably hard), eraser and materials for coloring.

Let's get ready

So, first you need to have a good idea of the lion you want to draw. Come up with him environment, appearance, all the small details and the position of the hero himself: will he lie down or sit. There are a lot of options here. So let’s stop at one thing and look at how to draw a lion step by step if he’s sitting. Let's start with the location of our hero. Give him a place in the center. When this point is completed, you can begin to depict the king of beasts. So, let's start by drawing an oval, which will be the body of our character. It should be extended vertically. A little to the left and above you need to draw a circle, that is, a head. Now we have the base of the figure ready, and we can begin detailed drawing.

Step 1: head

Let's draw the approximate location of the mouth and eyes. Then, also schematically, we will show the mane. Draw the eyes of a lion. They can be both good and evil, depending on the character of your character. They will come out top part mouth, at the very top we place the nose. Remember, the location and the lines themselves show the character’s character. If he is evil, they must be broken. You can draw a grin. So, the mouth comes “from the nose”. The forehead can be wrinkled above the eyes. When the animal's face is finished, we proceed to the mane. We draw it any way we like, it will only decorate the hero. It can be hanging and long, or short and puffy in all directions, like the Lion Cub from the fairy tale of the same name. From the mane you can begin to draw the body, or rather the back, not forgetting about the bends. So, we move on to the next step in the process “how to draw a lion”.

Step 2: Torso

We begin a detailed drawing of the body. To do this, you can look at the pictures and be sure to pay attention to the location of the animal’s muscles. Now let's move on to the paws. Since he is sitting with us, only three of them are visible. There are both front ones, but only one rear one. The paws at first resemble golf clubs that point in different directions. And we draw the hind paw from a semi-oval (the left half of which is erased), the same “stick”. Now you need to draw the fingers (4 on each limb) and, of course, the claws. At this stage, we must not forget about the tail. Add a tassel at its end. To make a lion drawn in pencil look realistic, add hair, light and shadows. To add relief to the image, highlight the bulges of the body. Now you need to delete auxiliary lines, and if you are happy with everything, it’s time to start coloring. Don't forget about shades and tints of color. After drawing a lion in a sitting position has become a completed stage for you, which you have successfully overcome, you can try other poses and even depict the hero running.

Conclusion

Now that the drawing is finished, you can safely tell your child that you know how to draw a lion.

Now we will draw the head of a lion with a pencil step by step, as simply and not difficult as we did. You will get a good result with a minimum of effort, you can use any pencil, you don’t need to know any special drawing techniques. At the end of the lesson there will be two videos on realistic drawing lion's head.

Step 1. Draw a square and divide it horizontally and vertically into three equal segments to make 9 small squares in a large square. Then we draw the outline of the eyes and nose.

Step 2. Above the eyes we draw folds from the eyelids and eyebrows, then we finish the nose and draw the muzzle of the lion.

Step 3. Draw the outline of the head, make approximate lines of fur, and finish drawing a small part of the body.

Step 4. Sketch the eyes, leaving small highlights and begin to draw shades of fur on the face with curves closely spaced. Let's touch the border between the hair and the head by applying small hairs.

Step 5. We continue to draw, so to speak, the hair, applying dark areas to the nose and mouth. You can simply draw the chin, I made a dark area and used an eraser to create the fur on the lion’s chin, using movements similar to drawing strokes. We darken the areas on the side of the muzzle, draw dots and whiskers.

Step 6. Draw more hair on the lion's head, create a dark mane under the neck, it should look like a solid tone and use an eraser to create white areas of the fur. Then we darken the muzzle from the edges, the area of the edge of the head contour, apply faint shading to the hair, and in places at your discretion, go over it with an eraser to create the effect of hair. We draw the silhouette of one ear in the wool, the second is not visible because of it, the edges of the wool have a black tint. The scanner doesn’t care about transmitting the shade, once I scanned the lion there were no shadow transitions at all, the second time I checked the box to restore the faded color, everything became dark, I changed the brightness in Photoshop, but still not the same. This is how you can quickly (relatively) draw a lion without sitting for hours.

Now there will be two videos on realistic drawing, the first video looks a lot like my lion, well, it doesn’t matter, we’ll consider this an addition to the lesson.

African lions are truly majestic and regal animals. The beauty of the lion, its magnificent lush mane and powerful paws cannot but evoke genuine admiration. In order to understand how to draw a lion, you should go to the nearest zoo or circus. After all, it is in these establishments that there are often these dangerous predators. If this is not possible, then you can look documentaries about these African animals, and also carefully look at their photos.
Before you draw a lion you need to prepare:
1). Landscape sheet;
2). Liner;
3). Pencil;
4). Pencils of various colors;
5). An eraser.

It will be easier to understand how to draw a lion with a pencil if you divide the whole process into separate steps:
1. Draw a schematic figure of a lion using rectangles;
2. In the largest rectangle, draw a full mane. At the top of this rectangle, outline the outline of the animal's muzzle. The part where the eyes will be located should be slightly wider than the part where the nose and mouth will be;
3. Draw the eyes, nose and mouth of the animal;
4. Draw the pupils and ears of the animal;
5. Draw the paws and body of the lion;
6. Draw the animal’s tail with a characteristic tassel at the end;
7. Draw the paws of a lion. Draw the ground;
8. Having understood how to draw a lion with a pencil step by step, you can move on to coloring it, but before that, carefully outline the sketch with a liner;
9. Erase the sketch with an eraser;
10. Color the eyes, nose and mouth of the lion;
11. Paint over the lion's face, combining various shades;
12. Color the lion's mane different shades pencils;
13. Shade the lion’s paws with pencils of different tones;
14. Color the body, hind legs and the tail of the beast in the same shades of pencils;
15. Paint the ground with brown tones, and the grass with green.
Now the lion is drawn and colored in pencil. It is not at all necessary to use multi-colored pencils to color a sketch, because paints are also great for this purpose. For example, children really like to color pictures with gouache, and also watercolor paints. Knowing how to draw a lion step by step, you can create very interesting illustrations on the theme of Africa. You can also depict not only a lion, but also a lioness, as well as little lion cubs frolicking under the scorching sun. You can color the sketch together with your children, because they will certainly be captivated by this activity.

Today we will try to learn more about lions, and then you will build on our lesson “ how to draw lions“To learn this art ourselves.

As you all know, lions live in Africa. They are carnivores, which means they are very dangerous animals. But this is putting it mildly in relation to titled persons, whom everyone calls nothing less than “kings of the jungle.” Lions travel in groups and attack larger animals such as zebras, gazelles, bulls, antelopes and other herbivores.

Lions are from the genus of large cats and can weigh up to three hundred kilograms. They are the second largest feline after tigers. Lions can live for eleven to fourteen years in their natural environment. And in captivity, for example, in the zoo of your city, they can live up to twenty years. Their place of life is the endless fields of African savannas. Some lions are known to be killers. They literally hunt people. Although they may seem beautiful and cute, they can actually eat you and your car on any safari. There are many documented facts that lions have attacked people. Therefore, people hunt them and make this species no longer so widespread. Groups of people and entire organizations came together to keep them in captivity.

Male lions, as you know, have large fluffy manes and a tuft at the end of their tail. Lionesses do not have such a mane and have a bare tail. So now you will see how to draw a lion step by step and try all these fairly simple steps with me. I hope you enjoy this tutorial because I had a lot of fun coloring the mane in Photoshop. Good luck everyone!

Step 1.

This lesson will be the beginning of drawings that are quite complex and large in material and beauty. So, I am always glad for your return to the site, despite the fact that I do not always deal with all requests for drawings. I can only ask for forgiveness. Let's take a closer look at the lion's head. Our first lion will be 3/4 rotated and as you can see the lip lines of the lions mouth should be drawn in a bold manner. For the right lion, as shown by the third arrow, the lion's cheeks should be slightly plumped and plump and pointing outwards, with the lower jaw showing prominently underneath. Another tip, the sides of the nose should coincide with the starting points at the corners of the eyes. This is a good way to determine how wide the lion's nose should be in the drawing.

Step 2.

Here you can see a sketch of what a lion looks like when they are in the predator position. As you can see, when he is in this pose, the front legs are spread and the back legs are tense and pointing for instant movement. The mane should be up to the level of the lion's chest because the lion's mane grows even when they are adults.

Step 3.

This simple step will teach you how to draw lions eyes properly. First, the eyes should be tilted upward, and then there is a downward tilt. Secondly, lions have lines under their eyes that emphasize light shade their natural color.

Step 4.

This is what a fully drawn lion looks like. To draw a realistic and simple mane, add buns with light strokes. In the front view of the lion, all four fingers are visible. And when it is drawn turned 3/4 of the way, only three fingers are visible.

Step 5.

This is the first step to drawing a lion on paper. And we will easily go through all the steps. Start by drawing a circle for the head and then add a large almond shape around the head for the lion's mane. Finally, add guidelines to the face.

Step 6.

Now you will begin to lightly sketch out the contours of the face of the lion's head shape. The lines should point to the ends of the hair, this is what gives the effect of hair. Let's outline the chin and lower jaw.

Step 7

Using the facial lines of the first step, we outline the eyes of the lion. You will also use it to fill in the pupils and dark areas around the eyes, and then fill in the lines under the eyes. Then draw the tip of the nose and make sure it is wide and large. Don't forget to draw lines starting from the bottom tip of the nose to the tips of the eyes.

Step 8

All you need to draw now are the points for the mustache and a few tufts of the mustache itself on the sides of the head.

Step 9

Now that the lion's head is ready, let's start working on the mane. Using the almond shape that you already drew in the previous steps, start sketching out the mane. Remember, I said to draw a bun with each stroke. This is an effect for long, flowing hair. As soon as we start to get the mane, we will outline the ears and add details from the structure and hair to them.
