Vadim Motylev Instagram. Slim (Slim from the group Centr) - biography of a rap artist

In 2008 at Russian stage the new one loudly announced himself music project called “Centr” - then the guys won a music award from the MTV-Russia channel for achievements in the field modern music and industry development Russian show business. After existing for eight years, the team disbanded. But his soloist Slim remained on the stage, managing to win the recognition of many fans in Russia and the CIS countries.

Childhood and youth

Vadim Vitalievich Motylev (real name of rapper Slim) was born in Moscow on January 21, 1981. The musician does not advertise his family. The boy received his secondary education at Moscow secondary school No. 569 and 204. Back in early childhood Vadim showed a desire to musical art. Considering that most teenagers are interested in rap, Motylev was no exception. At the age of 12-14, his favorite performers became the then popular American group “Run-D.M.C.” and others.

Possessing naturally good developed hearing, the young man wanted to try writing own music and poems on it. Vadim’s first experiments were intended exclusively for a narrow circle of the guy’s friends, but in 1996, Motylev and a friend tried to create the first serious rap group.

Music

To start with the serious musical career Vadim needed an ally and like-minded person, who became the same aspiring rapper, known to the public under the pseudonym Lexus. At the end of 1996, the friends recorded their first song called “Stone Jungle”. Considering that these were the guys’ first steps in show business, and the financial situation of both left much to be desired, they themselves became the authors of the words and music, and the recording of the composition took place at the illegal recording studio “The Meaning of Life.”

« Concrete jungle" were included in the collection of Russian hip-hop music "Simply Rap" from Rap Recordz. Then the name of the young group “Smoke Screen” appeared. It’s not easy for aspiring rappers to compete in the tough world of Russian show business, so Slim and Lexus soon joined the large hip-hop formation “Dremuchie”. In 1997, the “Dremuchi” released their first album with Slim’s participation, “183 Years”.

In parallel with their work in the alliance, the guys continue to write lyrics and music for the Smokescreen album. Their first disc, entitled “Without Contraception...”, was released only in 2000, which, according to media reports, is due to the guys’ drug problems. He already participated in the creation of the album popular artist– the guys worked with one sound engineer.

Slim in the group "Center"

The unusual and even revolutionary sound of the tracks from the first album “Smoke Screen” attracted attention to the musicians - they gained fans not only in Moscow, but also in other cities of Russia. The guys began giving concerts in clubs, interviews on radio stations and appeared on the covers of fashionable youth magazines.

Three years later, the second album of “Smokescreen” was released, entitled “Did you want the truth?” When creating the tracks, Slim and Lexus moved from experimental to classic rap. When the disc went on sale, no one doubted the group's success. At the same time, Slim met. The young people looked at each other creative potential, which resulted in the jointly recorded track “Wedding,” which was included in the third album of “Smoke Screen” called “Explosive Device.”

Since 2004, there has been a short break in the work of “Smokescreen”. Lexus plunged headlong into family life, and Slim decided to try himself in the new project “Centr”. However, the creative break did not mean the breakup of the group - the guys released their next album, “Floors,” in 2006. Underground tracks from this album brought performers new wave popularity.

Although “Floors” became the last album of “Smokescreen”, the group existed for another three years: the guys gave concerts in clubs, where they were joined by another popular hip hop performer David Nuriev, who performed under the pseudonym.

During this period, Slim completely focused on the new project “Centr” together with the already familiar Guf and Ptah. In 2007, the first album of the group “Swing” was released. Despite the fact that the leitmotif of the disc was the topic of drug use, and the tracks themselves often contained obscene language, the composition “City of Roads” from the album “Swing” took first place in the rating music award for achievements in the field of modern music and the development of the Russian show business industry of the MTV-Russia television channel. By the way, the title of the album “Swing” is slang for a narcotic mixture of cocaine and heroin.

The second album of the group “Ether is Normal” became the best in 2008 in the rating Russian portal Rap. As a result, it received the status of a gold disc, released in a circulation of 50 thousand copies. A year later, Guf left the group to start a solo career, and Slim recorded a solo album without leaving Centr.

Simultaneously with the release of Vadim Motylev’s CD “Cold,” the rapper shot a video for the composition of the same name. The video clip remained at the top of the charts for several months after the album's release. And at the concert in support of the album, Slim performed together with Lexus, additionally performing several old tracks from the “Smokescreen” repertoire.

Without abandoning either “Smokescreen”, or “Center”, or a solo career, in 2011 Slim released a collaboration with the group “Constant” called “Azimuth”, and five months later the album “Legends about...Centr” was released. , which is the result of a collaboration between two Moscow rap groups of the same name. Slim's versatile and vibrant work helped him achieve the title of "Artist of the Year" in 2012. And in the summer of the same year the musician released new record“Saint-Tropez”, the video “Girl” from which was included in the YouTube rating as one of the most successful. The video clip for the track “Center” and “Caspian Cargo” entitled “” was no less successful.

Personal life

Vadim, unlike his stage colleagues, tries to keep his biography and family life secret.

The rapper's wife Elena Motyleva also does not talk about her personal life. It is only known that the couple has a son, whose photo Motylev published on personal page V "Instagram".

Slim now

Despite the obvious success, in May 2016, a Russian rap group, performing at concert venue in Frankfurt am Main, announced her retirement. According to the group members, the guys want to go to new format and perform solo, but this does not mean that they creative ways will not intersect again. And already in November of the same year, Slim presented to the public his fifth solo album entitled “IKRA”.

Despite the conflict between Slim and Guf in 2010, in the summer of 2017 the musicians released joint album"GuSli". However, Slim does not stop there and continues to expand the horizons of his creativity. In July 2017, the album “Ice” was released. Part 2” by Russian-German rapper (or Ya), which included a composition recorded together with Slim.

At the end of the same year, together with Lexus, he organized the group “Smoke Screen”. The first studio tracks were written. The participants of the “Dremuchiye” party were met, and the group received an invitation to join permanent staff of this association.

In 1997, the group made its debut on the collection “Just Rap” and the album “Dremuchikh” “183 days”, and also performed for the first time at a concert organized by “Dremuchikh”.

Since the beginning of 1999, Slim has been experimenting with writing cons. The first experiments that were officially released on the debut album were “Experiment” and the instrumental track “Porno”. It was more experimental hip-hop than just rap beats in the usual sense of these words.

Slim and Lexus perform a lot, attend specialized radio programs, and in 2000 their first album, “Without Contraception...”, was released, 3 years later they released a second album called “Did you want the truth?”, and in 2004 a third, “Explosive Device” ". With the release of each new album, the group's popularity grows.

Starting from the second album, Slim is responsible for almost all the beats of Smokescreen and at the same time begins to work with other rap artists. In 2003, he met Guf aka RoleX-X. The latter takes part in the recording of one of the most successful tracks last album Smoke Screen - "Wedding (feat. Slim)". The result exceeds all expectations of both parties, which contributes to further cooperation. As a result, Slim writes almost all the beats debut album Gufa "City of Roads" and takes part in the recording of some songs as an MC.

At the same time, he receives an invitation to become a member of the "Centr" project, which already includes Princip, Ptah and Guf. Work on the album "Centr"a" is going on in parallel with the preparation of the new album "Smoke Screen", the debut of Guf and Ptakhi.

In 2009, Guf left the Centr group. Slim and Ptah remained in the group.

On September 22, 2009, the solo album “Cold” and a video for the track of the same name were released. Thus began Slim's solo career.

The talented and charismatic rapper Slim included 18 tracks in his debut album, including both solo compositions and collaborations.

“My album is a statement about me as a solo artist, - comments Slim. - Before that, I always worked in a group and, having gained some experience, I decided to try myself in solo career. It seems to me that my solo album is about us all, about our lives today. In fact, I took this work very seriously and put maximum creative effort into it.”

The main thing is to be honest with yourself and not leave the listener indifferent.

After the loud collapse of the cult Russian rap Centr groups fans of the band were worried about the solo fate of each of the musicians. For a long time nothing was heard about the members Guf, Slim and Ptah by the general public. As soon as the scandal surrounding their termination joint activities subsided, the unexpected news of the reunion excited fans of honest “boyish” Russian rap.

The other day, Guf, Slim and Ptakha presented a new single called “Virazhi” and are now actively preparing for a joint tour after five years of silence. In an interview with SUPER, Vadim Motylev, better known as Slim, spoke for the first time about the reasons for the collapse and reunification of Centr, his role as a father and plans for the future.

The first question that interests your fans so much: why is the Centr group back together?

There are a lot of discussions on the Internet, many people think that this is all PR, and we broke up, only to get back together later. Unfortunately, we are not such brilliant PR people. It just happened that way - apparently the time has come. A year ago, nothing predicted that we would be together.

What project with financial point view was more successful - solo or group Centr?

Of course, in the Centr group the financial situation was better and it was more profitable to go on tour, at least for me. I don’t know, maybe not all participants had such a situation. We had fifteen or more cities in a month. During my solo career there were fewer performances, but I always had enough money. The financial side is, of course, important. But if we got together only because of money, then we would need to do this two years earlier.

Who initiated the band's return to the stage?

Everything happened according to mutual consent. But, probably, the connection was spliced by David (Ptah).

There were many rumors surrounding your breakup. The press also wrote about the conflict between you, Ptah and Guf, about Alexey’s addiction to drugs, and even Aiza Dolmatova was involved in this story. And yet, why did you decide to break up at the peak of your popularity?

There was a misunderstanding on some issues. We had a very tight tour schedule, you see each other all the time - apparently, you're tired of each other. This played a big role, and, of course, everyone wanted to try their hand at solo. Yes, but there are always a lot of rumors.

Who was the first to decide to leave the group?

Guf was the first to decide to leave the team.

Did you maintain friendships after the breakup?

No. Guf and I didn’t communicate at all for five years and saw each other for the first time about a year ago. We saw Ptah from time to time.

When your paths diverged, each began a solo career. Tell me what happened and what you did?

There were many tours- visited cities that the Centr group had never even visited. Four solo albums were released, the last one just in March of this year. There were a lot joint work with other musicians. An album of my concerts will be released soon. These five years have been very fruitful, and there are many plans for the future.

Was it difficult to start a career alone after such overwhelming success in the group?

Yes, it is difficult. This was unexpected for me. I was not mentally prepared for this. It was difficult to believe in yourself that you could do something. The Centr group is still famous, but here you are alone without two colleagues, well, it worked for me.

Did someone help? Did you have a producer?

No. I have never had producers, just like the Centr group.

How will Slim exist as an independent unit of Russian show business or are you now limited to the confines of the team?

I'm not limited by Centr in any way. I will continue my solo career in parallel. Too much has been done during this time and there is no point in burying everything. Moreover, many already perceive me as a solo artist. Now you can express yourself both there and there.

During your free voyage, you managed to get married and have a child. How is your family life going now?

Everything is fine with us, I am very pleased. The child is growing, he is already one year and four months old. Leo turned out to be a very funny little guy.

How Centr is going to surprise the public, because it will surpass past glory will it be very difficult?

We have already surprised by the fact that the three of us are doing something again, and we will surprise with new songs and videos. We don’t need to repeat anything, we have already proven everything to everyone. The single “Virages” was released and many thought that it would be nonsense, that we wouldn’t be able to do anything good together, but, as the statistics of views and downloads show, everything is fine. People are interested in this. I'll even say more - new material will be stronger because experience has been accumulated over the years - we have grown.

How did your fans react?

They are very happy and say that they dreamed of our unification. Of course there is negative reviews that we came together for the sake of money is kindergarten. Any popular performer, no matter what direction, receives money for his work.

When will the first big concert be? And when will your first joint album after a long break be released?

February 27 in Moscow and the 28th in St. Petersburg. I'm very worried about how this will all happen, since we haven't given joint concerts since the summer of 2009. It's hard to predict about the album. I hope that we will release it in 2015.

Starting in 1994, I became deeply hooked on rap music, and after a couple of years I decided to try to record something on my own (naturally, at home - using a couple of household tape recorders, as all aspiring rap artists did then - because few people had computers yet ).
At the end of 1996 he organized the group “Smoke Screen” together with an old school friend with the nickname Lexus. This duet produced the first studio tracks at the recording studio, on which even Dolphin was noted.

There is an acquaintance with the members of the rap association "Dremuchiye" (which then included Big Black Boots, Counter Attack, Dynamite, Light Out, Tverdy Znak and others) and the natural joining of the duet, and the group receives an invitation to join the permanent composition of this association.
In 1997, the group made its debut on the collection “Just Rap” and the album “Dremuchikh” “183 days”, and also performed for the first time at a concert organized by “Dremuchikh”.
Since the beginning of 1999 Slim experiments with writing cons. The first experiments that were officially released on the debut album were “Experiment” and the instrumental track “Porn”. It was rather experimental hip-hop, rather than just rap beats in the usual sense of these words.

Vadim developed an interest in rap music Slim back in 1993. Since 1994, Slim I became deeply involved in rap music. Already in 1996, he tried himself no longer as a listener, but as a hip-hop performer - from underground home recordings, but immediately using music own composition, which at that time was written on a cheap synthesizer without the use of a computer or sampler.

Since the beginning of 1999 Slim experiments with writing cons. The first experiments were “Experiment” and the instrumental track “Porn”. It was more experimental hip-hop than just beats in the usual sense of these words.
Slim and Lexus perform a lot, attend specialized radio programs, and in 2000 their first album “Without Contraception...” was released, 3 years later they released a second album called “Did you want the truth?”, and in 2004 - a third ( "Explosive device").
Since the second album, Slimus is responsible for almost all the bits of Smokescreen and in parallel begins to work with others rap artists.
In 2003, an acquaintance occurs Slim with Guf aka RoleX-X.

The latter takes part in the recording of one of the most successful tracks of the latest album of “Smoke Screen” - “Wedding”. The result exceeds all expectations of both parties, which contributes to further cooperation.
After this, it seems completely logical for him to join CENTR (which at that time consisted of Princip and Guf, still without Ptah). As a result, Slim writes almost all the beats for Guf’s debut album “City of Roads” and takes part in the recording of some songs as an MC. Well, and of course, it determines the entire sound of “Swing” and “Ether in Norma” - recorded to this day studio albums CENTER groups.
In September 2009, Slima’s first solo work, entitled “Cold,” was released. Of course, this album was not complete without the participation of bandmates (including Guf, who had already left the group at that time). Many were pleasantly surprised, not expecting so much from Slimus strong work. We didn’t doubt him.

Music career
1996–2006: Smokescreen group

Vadim began to get involved in music back in 1993, after listening to albums by Public Enemy, Run-D.M.C., Ice T, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube.

At the end of 1996, together with Lexus, he created the Smoke Screen group. Ranked in the team leading place: wrote lyrics, made music in tracks.

The first studio tracks are being written. An acquaintance takes place with the participants of the “Dremuchye” party and the group receives an invitation to join the permanent composition of this association.
In 1997, the group made its debut on the collection “Just Rap” and the album “Dremuchikh” “183 days”, and also performed for the first time at a concert organized by “Dremuchikh”.

Since the beginning of 1999, Slim begins to experiment with writing cons. The first experiments that were officially released on the debut album were “Experiment” and the instrumental track “Porn”. It was more experimental hip-hop than just rap beats in the usual sense of these words.

At this time, Slim met Viktor “Mutant” Shevtsov, then the sound engineer of Dolphin and the groups “Oak Gaai” and “Malchishnik”. Shevtsov introduced Slim to Dolphin himself, who really liked his instrumental music.
When creating the first Smokescreen album, Dolphin wrote 2 instrumental tracks for the group, as well as a couple of lyrics. So in 2000, the group released its debut album, “Without Contraception.” He gave Slim the impetus. At the beginning of 2003, “Did you want the truth?” was released. This album propelled the band to the regional level. Work immediately begins on the next album, which was released in 2004, “Explosive Device”. While recording the album, Slim met Rolexx, this acquaintance was the reason for creating the group Centr. The latter takes part in the recording of one of the most successful tracks from the latest Smokescreen album - “Wedding”. The result exceeds all expectations of both parties, which contributes to further cooperation.

As a result, Slim writes almost all the beats for the debut album of Rolexx (who in 2004 changed his pseudonym and became “Guf”) “City of Roads” and takes part in the recording of some songs as an MC. At the same time, he receives an invitation to become a participant in the “Center” project, which already includes Princip, Ptah and Guf. Work on the “Center” album is going on in parallel with the preparation of the new album “Smoke Screen”, the debut of Guf and Ptah.

But after Vadim began to devote himself to a new project, at the end of 2006 the 4th album “Veil” “Floors” was released. After which the Smokescreen project was frozen indefinitely.

2007–2013: Centr group and solo releases
After the release of the album “Floors”, Slim devoted himself almost entirely to writing the first album of the Centr group together with Guf and Ptah, which was released on October 25, 2007 under the name “Swing”. The group immediately became popular in all corners of Russia and the CIS. For the song “City of Roads” the group became the winner of MTV Russia Music Awards 2008 in the Hip-Hop category. In 2008, the second album “Ether is Normal” was released. In 2009, Guf left the Centr group, leaving Slim and Ptah in the team.

At the end of September 2009, Slim’s debut solo album “Cold” was released. The first video from the album was shot for the song of the same name, which even two months after the release was one of the most viewed on the Rap.ru website. In one of the videos posted on the Internet, Slim casually mentions that sales of the album are going poorly and no one is buying it, which caused a heated discussion on the Internet about this, later in an interview with the site Rap.ru, Slim said that it was a joke and that The album is selling well.

In an interview, Slim spoke about his second solo album:
“I will not promise that there will be no more albums under the Centr group brand. Although we might chase the money, quickly write down new album group Centr under the motto “You will find out the whole truth,” and it would sell like hotcakes. But we won't do this. This is not fair to our listener. Maybe we’ll collect our thoughts later, time will tell. I've just started writing my second album. I don’t want to rush, I want to understand which direction to move. “Cold” - I like it a lot good reviews, but I won’t repeat it.”

In June 2010, the track “Spice Baby” appeared, which is a response to Guf’s “100 Lines” video; subsequently, a parody clip was shot for it (for Guf’s “Ice Baby” video). On February 10, 2011, the album “Differentiate People” was released on CD.
The next release from Slim was a joint album with the group “Constant” called “Azimuth”, which was released on June 1, 2011. It was presented on the hip-hop portal Rap.ru. "Azimuth" was originally released as an online release and later went to retail.

Just like that time, for this performance Vadim invited musicians from the Affect-Solo band. Together they prepared big program for this concert: all famous songs were performed to live music.

Conflicts
Conflict with Guf
In May 2010, Guf published online his video “100 lines”, which is a “video message” to the people, where he talked about his family, how much he values it, mentioned the collapse of the Centr group, but did not reveal the secret of why he left it . The clip is a diss on his former friends - Slim and Ptah, as well as Pavel Volya (a gentle mockery in the form of gratitude to his answer), fake pages in social network“VKontakte”, PR over his fans on the Internet.

The video shows Guf walking around the city, slowly walking home, meeting Princip along the way and going into the entrance with him. Accordingly, the video caused a huge scandal on the Internet among fans of not only Guf, but also Slim and Ptah.
Slim responded to this video. He was very touched by this song, before that he recorded the song “Differentiate People” with Guf, where Guf reads that his friend Marcus is very “ good friend", but for some reason Slim’s verse characterizes the opposite this character. The track was recorded in this form, since Guf replaced all the minuses and cut out Slim’s verses from the upcoming second solo album “At Home,” although almost all the tracks had already been completed.

Slim didn’t think for a long time: he shot a video called “Spice Baby”, which is a parody of Guf’s “Ice Baby” video and at the same time a diss response to the “100 Lines” video.
In the video, Slim caricatures Guf: he burrs and uses it catchphrases, wearing a hat in the shape of Guf’s head, hinting at the pseudonym, “reveals” some of Guf’s weaknesses, and also repeatedly calls the enemy a “cunning Jew.”

“In general, it seems to me that it is better to clarify such situations in a personal meeting, but it is probably more convenient for Alexey to communicate through videos. By the way, I learned a lot of new things from them. Lyokha, if you love recording video messages so much, maybe you can make another one and tell us why the Centr group broke up? I think your fans would be very interested in this. Regarding what “they take out” - I don’t know who they are: either I or Ptah - they wash their dirty linen in public, but no one washes their dirty linen in public, because if you take it out, then the people, to put it mildly, oh... yay!” - we quote Slim.

Ptah took part in the “Spice Baby” video, and also showed excerpts from recordings of an interview with Guf and the “100 Lines” video and his other tracks (the unreleased “Under the Balcony” and a verse from the song “In Normal” from the album “Ether” fine").

Slim's music
Slim is also a beatmaker. He wrote most of the backing tracks for his solo albums and for the albums of their groups “Smoke Screen” and Centr; author of backing tracks in the albums “City of Roads” by Guf, “Scales” and “Oxygen” by Swift, “About Nothing” by Ptakhi, “Azimut” (together with “Constant”) and “Legends about...Centr” (together with “Legends” about...")
