Until the eighth grade, Grebenshchikov received secondary education at school No. 421, after which he completed his secondary education at school No. 239 with a mathematical focus. After school, Boris entered Leningrad University at the Faculty of Applied Mathematics.

IN last grades During school, he became interested in music and organized a group together with his school friend Anatoly Gunitsky; the guys held rehearsals in the assembly hall of the university where Grebenshchikov studied.

At first, young people composed and performed English-language songs, and over time they began to write compositions in Russian. Debut album group called "The Temptation of the Holy Aquarium" was released in 1973. By 1974, the Aquarium group included A. Romanov and M. Fainstein. At the same time, the Faculty of Applied Mathematics organized a student theater Club, whose troupe includes musicians from Grebenshchikov’s group.

Over time, Boris met cellist Vsevolod Gakkel, who is part of the group, which was finally and irrevocably formed at that time. The team existed underground, since the music created by the guys did not find understanding or response from the higher officials of the USSR. The musicians had to record their own albums, such as: “From the Other Side of the Mirror Glass” (1976) and “All Brothers and Sisters” (1978).

Over time, thanks to acquaintances, the Aquarium team got the opportunity to record semi-legally in studios and the number of records increased significantly. The group's concert activity in the 70s and 80s was limited to "apartment shows" - acoustic concerts in the apartment of one of the fans. At that time, such events were not only strictly prohibited, but even for attending one could be arrested. The basis of the repertoire of such concerts at that time were the songs from the “Acoustics” album, which spread throughout the USSR.

In 1977, Grebenshchikov founded the first Soviet rock magazine, Roxy, which existed until 1979. In November 1980, the group officially announced itself for the first time with a performance at the All-Union Festival of Rock Bands "Spring Rhythms" in Tbilisi. After this, “Aquarium” received a real national calling, which the authorities did not like very much, since BG sang completely different songs that were originally announced. Upon returning to St. Petersburg, Grebenshchikov lost not only a place for rehearsals of his group, but also his job. The musician was also expelled from the Komsomol.

Boris had no choice but to get a job as a watchman. But after some time, he managed to become a member of the trade union committee of playwrights, which allowed him not to work and to engage exclusively in creative activities legally. Collaboration with one of the most prominent figures of the Leningrad underground, Sergei Kuryokhin, contributed to the even greater popularity of Aquarium.

Soon Grebenshchikov made his first appearance on television in the program “Jolly Fellows”, the group “Aquarium” performed the song “Two Tractor Drivers”. After this, the group repeatedly appeared in the then popular program “Musical Ring” and other television projects of Soviet television.

By the mid-80s, a rock club was formed in St. Petersburg, where musicians from Aquarium took an active part. It was then that the group came out of hiding for the first time and began to actively tour, collecting full halls and stadiums. One after another, records are being released, such as: “Children of December”, “Ten Arrows” and “Equinox”.

Cinematography also contributes to the success of the group - Grebenshchikov’s songs are heard in cult films“Assa”, “Black rose is the emblem of sadness, red rose is the emblem of love”, “House under starry sky", "Mitki in Europe" and "City". BG himself starred in the film "Two Captains-2". In 1986, the first single of "Aquarium" was released in the USA, and three years later two English-language albums were released at once - Radio Silence and Radio London.

In 1999, the group released the album "?", and in 2002 - "Sister Chaos", which were unlike the usual work of the group, which brought the group even more popularity. In the spring of 2013, reports appeared that Aquarium would cease to exist, but these statements were soon refuted.

But in June 1978 they separated, and divorced in 1980 after a scandal in Tbilisi, because of which Grebenshchikov was fired from his job and expelled from the Komsomol. From this marriage was born a daughter, Alice, now a successful actress.

The musician’s second wife from 1980 to 1989 was Lyudmila Shurygina, who worked as a cleaner at school No. 222. From this marriage, a son, Gleb, was born in 1985, now known as DJ gebe. Russian musician, poet, rock band leader "Aquarium", winner of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, IV degree, for his great contribution to the development of musical art.

Boris Borisovich Grebenshchikov born in the fall of 1953 in Leningrad in the family of the director of the Baltic Shipping Company plant and legal adviser of the Leningrad Model House. Grandfather Boris died during the siege of Leningrad, and his grandmother became the closest and dearest person in the family to him.

After graduating from the Physics and Mathematics Lyceum, Grebenshchikov He devoted himself to music with all his might - he and his friends recorded songs in home studios. The group was named "Aquarium". Touring activities did not prevent the musician from studying at Leningradsky state university them. Zhdanov at the Faculty of Applied Mathematics. Moreover, he participated in the activities of the experimental student theater, and after receiving a diploma he became an employee of the Research Institute of Sociology.

Although Boris Grebenshchikov was the leader of the group and the author of most of the songs, he strove to ensure that the listener understood that this was creativity "Aquarium".

– When the concept “Aquarium” exists, there is no one person. That is, Grebenshchikov is not there either. If a group plays, then they all play together; there is not a single individual on stage as such. There is a certain system that plays music and is very slow while doing it. A individuals can be before the scene and after the scene, personally I see it that way.

After the appearance of this band, the concept of domestic rock music changed dramatically. "Aquarium" And "Movie" became the most famous musical projects in the USSR in the 1980s. They packed stadiums and shocked the public.

In 1980 Boris Grebenshchikov they were even expelled from the Komsomol, and the group was officially banned - the reason was a performance at the Tbilisi rock festival. However, the ban was soon lifted.

After tragic death Viktor Tsoi ceased to exist "Movie", "Aquarium" fell apart after him. In 1989 Boris Grebenshchikov recorded a solo album in English "Radio Silence" and created a new musical project "BG-Band".

– When the concert was played in March 1991, the last concert of the old “ Aquarium", then many of its participants are - I won’t say about myself - strange mysteriously were cured of many internal diseases that they had. Purely physical. It stood like a powerful energy barrier, like a traffic jam, and therefore, when this traffic jam was knocked out by joint efforts, and this shadow stopped hanging, then people were cured, and new songs began to emerge.

In 1993, band members "Aquarium" reunited and, as if having found a second wind, began to conquer lovers domestic rock music with new forces.

Behind long years creative activity Boris Grebenshchikov's group received several music awards and has released more than fifty albums.

In 2005 Boris Grebenshchikov became a radio host author's program "Balloon" on Radio Russia, two years later he played a concert on the London stage of the Royal Albert Hall, and two years later in Berlin he underwent surgery - heart bypass surgery.

It is known that Boris Grebenshchikov is interested in Buddhism and translates the written works of famous gurus into Russian.

He also compiled a list of all the miraculous icons in Russia:

– Orthodoxy interests me no less. I just discovered it 10 years later than Buddhism. I have an interest in all non-everyday manifestations of life. Buddhism, Hinduism, Orthodoxy, Taoism - everything that goes beyond the everyday. I think, without pretending, extreme miracles are what interests everyone the most.

Boris Grebenshchikov was officially married three times. He has a daughter from his first marriage Alice , famous film actress, son from the second Gleb who works as a DJ. In 1991 he married his ex-wife Alexandra Titova Irina and adopted her children Brand And Vasilisa.

– I sometimes hear from people: children are the best thing they have done in their lives. What kind of evolution is this - to give birth to someone like yourself?.. In my opinion, such a phrase immediately reduces humanity to zero. If a person cannot do anything in life except give birth to a child, then he is absolutely no different from an animal. In my opinion, matriarchy is coming. And a man must carry evolution on himself...

Boris Grebenshchikov - singer, musician, philosopher.

BG is a cult musician. Fans know that, despite its apparent simplicity, his work is multi-layered and multifaceted. Writing like BG is not difficult at first glance, but feeling and living like him is not an easy task.

"Aquarium" was founded by Boris Grebenshchikov and poet Anatoly Gunitsky in 1972 (according to Gunitsky, the name of the group was given by analogy with the name of the beer bar "Aquarium", Grebenshchikov rejects this version, saying that the iconic word flashed among a dozen other options by chance) , and for the first years the group existed in a semi-basement; one could only dream of concerts and performances. The debut acoustic album was recorded in 1978, and two years later, Aquarium was included in the list of banned groups (in fact, BG became the first Soviet punk), Grebenshchikov was expelled from the Komsomol and fired from his job. In short, the musicians are living a story typical of Soviet times.

Then there were years of underground work, banned concerts, and apartment dwellers. In 1988, the group managed to travel to Montreal, where the musicians performed at a conference against nuclear war. Their songs are liked by the public, but the band members do not receive a fee; the organizers compensate for travel expenses, although this was enough by the standards of that time. IN next year In America, Grebenshchikov manages to publish his first English-language album.

The composition of the Aquarium group changed several times; various musicians were involved in studio work. BG is an experimenter in matters of form and content. In addition to collective and solo musical projects, he is busy with literature, filming films and acting in the theater, and organizing personal photo exhibitions. A special place in his life is occupied by spiritual practices and translations of Buddhist books. By the way, about translations. IN Soviet years Grebenshchikov became famous for making the first translation of Tolkien’s immortal saga “The Lord of the Rings”.

Today, Aquarium has dozens of wonderful songs, some of which were written under the impression of real events events that happened in the life of a musician. Thus, the song “This City is on Fire” appeared in 1987. The musician composed it on a train, when, during a tour of the USSR, he saw oil rigs blazing outside the window like torches.

The versions of the creation of the song “212-85-06” are also interesting. So, according to one of them, this number really belonged to BG. True, the musician himself says that he came up with it arbitrarily, since the numbers fit well with the rhythm. The song quickly gained popularity, but the apartment where this performance was performed was besieged by fans with calls. Someone was constantly trying to call the number, and after six months the phone was simply forced to be turned off.
