Who created the transformers. Origin of Transformers

Transformers- a unique phenomenon. Introduced in 1984, the series of toys for young children has grown into something more over the course of a couple of decades. The saga of robots that can change their shape has matured and become incredibly popular around the world. The colorful universe of Transformers is, first of all, the story of an endless war between two factions of robots that flew to Earth from distant Cybertron.

The distant year 1984 became the starting point in the Transformers universe. It was then that the volcano awakened, and tremors launched the on-board computer on the alien ship from Cybertron.

In the same year, the first toys, the first animated series and the first comics were released. But the story of Transformers began a year earlier. In 1983, a famous American toy manufacturer Hasbro met at the annual exhibition in New York with colleagues from a Japanese company Takara . After weighing all the pros and cons, the companies decided to combine and refine the popular Takarov products “Diaclon” and “Micro Changes” into a new series intended for release on the US market. The series was simply called - transformers . .

For the new toys, a storyline was developed and the characters of all the characters were described, which were reflected in the Transformers animated series released in the same year and comics from Marvel Subsequently, the Transformers universe acquired many sequels - both new toys, comics, and TV series. Some were direct continuations of the original saga, others told about an alternative reality. In this article we will talk about the very first, original universe, which fans call G1, or

First generation

(Generation 1). Other “generations” are briefly described in the box of the same name.

An interesting question is about the origin of the “race” of transformers. There are two different versions about the origins of the Transformers and their home planet of Cybertron. The first, told in comics, says: at the dawn of time, a certain Single Entity created two robots capable of turning into entire planets - Unicron personified evil, Primus - good. What happened between them great battle

, from which Primus emerged as the undisputed winner. After some thought, he decided to forever remain the planet now known as Cybertron. Subsequently, Primus created a new life form on his surface - he gave it a piece of himself and called it transformers.

Cybertron.

The second version is reflected in the animated series. 12 million years ago, Cybertron was a factory run by the Quintessons. The factory produced robots for industrial and military needs. After a million years, they evolved and rebelled against the Quintessons, driving them off the planet. Subsequently, this uprising was called the First Cybertronian War. But peace did not come, because military robots decided to conquer the entire planet, and with it the peaceful robots. Military robots named themselves Decepticons, and peaceful ones - Autobots.

Thanks to

new development , which allowed robots to transform into other forms, the Autobots defeated the Decepticons in the Second Cybertronian War, and the Golden Age of Cybertron began. Coats of arms of Autobots and Decepticons.

The Decepticons took into account their mistakes and secretly created a new unique transformer, their leader - Megatron. Megatron successfully completed the series

offensive operations

The unknown planet became the new home for many Autobots. They made friends with people and made reliable allies. The first acquaintances of the Autobots were the Witwicky family - young Spike and his father, nicknamed Sparkplug.

Spike's son Daniel played an important role in the events of 2005. Then a major battle took place at the Autobot city, as a result of which Rodimus Prime became the new leader of the Autobots, Megatron turned into Galvatron, and the transformers came face to face with their old enemies - the terrible Unicron and the insidious Quintessons. In addition to the classic, First Generation of Transformers, other interpretations of this universe were released. Second generation was a new toy line with redesigns of old characters. After the American “generations,” Japanese sequels appeared. Having thrown out the last, fourth season of the first generation, the Japanese continued the G1 series Headmasters followed by Masterforce And.

Victory After the Japanese, the baton was picked up by the Canadians, who released the first Transformers series with 3D graphics. Series Beast Wars told the story of the conflict between the Maximals and the Predacons, abandoned on prehistoric Earth. A continuation soon followed - Beast Machines.

and Japanese anime Beast Wars II After the story of the Maximals and Predacons, the Japanese tried to rethink the first generation from a new perspective. In the series Armada a third, neutral faction appeared - the Minicons, who could unite with the transformer and increase its strength. Latest series

Cybertron

, has not yet been shown in its entirety in the United States. Autobots In fact, the entire history of the Transformers universe is

eternal war

good Autobots and evil Decepticons. Any war always has its leaders, generals, heroes and true legends. Let's talk briefly about the most remarkable transformers. Let's start with the Autobots.

Optimus Prime

The most famous leader of the Autobots, Optimus Prime, will forever remain the greatest hero of Transformers. He is a brilliant scientist, mechanic and, above all, a warrior and strategist. Optimus Prime has only one weakness - he cannot allow a living creature to die.

Rodimus Prime is a new, redesigned version of the Transformer Hot Rod. Hot Rod was a simple soldier under Optimus, an ardent young man who dreamed of exploits and great battles. And then the dream came true - in the battle with Unicron, he inherited the Matrix of Leadership, changed and became the new leader of the Autobots.

Hot Rod turned into a sports car with flames painted on the sides. Reborn as Rodimus Prime, he received a new alternate mode - an upgraded truck with the same "flame" paint job.

Rodimus Prime

Wheeljack

A mad scientist and brilliant racer, Wheeljack was often involved in the development of Autobot weapons. According to one version, it was he who created a detachment of Dinobots, powerful Autobot warriors, and also participated in the development of aerial bots and protectobots. Alternate mode - Lancia Stratos racing car model 1975, white.

Bumblebee

Bumblebee is the younger brother of the Autobots. Small, nimble Bumblebee brilliantly copes with the role of a spy and intelligence officer. Although his size gives him certain advantages, Bumblebee constantly worries that the Autobots treat him as a younger brother, but not an equal. That is why he often takes unnecessary risks. Bumblebee is one of the best friends of Spike Witwicky and his family. Alternate mode - yellow Volkswagen Beetle.

Transformers(1984) - original film and TV series, 98 episodes

was a new toy line with redesigns of old characters. After the American “generations,” Japanese sequels appeared. Having thrown out the last, fourth season of the first generation, the Japanese continued the G1 series(1987) - alternative Japanese sequel G1, 35 episodes

Decepticons

If the Autobots personify heroism and nobility, then the Decepticons - treachery and cruelty.

Megatron

The greatest, and most importantly, the permanent leader of the Decepticons. Megatron is a unique personality. This is a real evil genius, an excellent strategist who knows all the advantages and disadvantages of his subordinates and skillfully uses them. In 2005, Megatron was severely damaged in a fight with Optimus. His close ally Starscream betrayed him, threw him into space and doomed him to certain death. Unicron picked up a drifting Megatron and, after a brief conversation, transformed him into Galvatron.

Starscream

An "eternal traitor" and close ally of Megatron, perhaps second only to his leader in his lust for power. If Megatron is already the head of all Decepticons, then Starscream is just the commander of their air forces. He is passionate and ready to take any risk just to dislodge Megatron. Alas, Starscream is not very lucky - every attempt he makes ends in failure. Fortunately for him, his superiors appreciate his abilities and are not going to destroy the brilliant warrior ahead of time. Alternate mode - F-15 Eagle fighter jet in red and white.

Soundwave

One of Megatron's close associates.

An excellent and loyal fighter, a specialist in communications and everything related to sound. In his chest, Soundwave carries robotic cassette players that transform into audio cassettes. These are excellent spies and saboteurs. The most famous among them are the bullies Rumble and Frenzy, the panther Ravage, the bat Ratbet and the birds Laserbeak and Buzzsaw. Soundwave's alternate mode is a cassette recorder.

Shockwave A cold-blooded, decisive and absolutely soulless transformer. Shockwave thinks exclusively logically, approaching every problem from the point of view of the problem that needs to be solved. This Decepticon has excellent combat power and good leadership qualities

, causing Megatron to keep him as his second-in-command on Cybertron during the events on Earth.

Alternate mode - laser gun. Shockwave did not come to Earth along with other Decepticons from Megatron's team, so his size is not adapted to earthly conditions - the height of the gun is as much as 10 meters.

Starscream

Soundwave

Unusual cars

Most Transformers have one alternate mode, they are approximately the same size and perform different functions. But among the huge mass of Autobots and Decepticons, there are exceptions.

The term “gestalt” (from German “gestalt” - form, personality) is usually used to refer to an integral personality consisting of many other “subpersonalities”. Transformers have this name for the technology with the help of which combined robots are created, as well as these robots. Gestalt is a transformer composed of smaller, full-fledged transformers.

The most famous Gestalt is the brutal, but slightly clumsy Devastator, consisting of six Constructicons - robots, whose alternate mode is construction equipment from an excavator to a bulldozer. Devastator was the very first Gestalt to be successfully created, and it was he who allowed the Decepticons to achieve an advantage in power.

Autobot Defensor.

Soon this technology appeared among the Autobots.

In the series, three gestalt teams of Autobots are known - aerialbots, protectobots and technobots. The aerial robots transform into airplanes to form the fearless Superion. Protectobots transform into emergency vehicles - from ambulances to fire engines - and unite into Defensor, a loyal defender of people. The Technobots' alternate forms vary widely, ranging from a drilling rig to a motorcycle, but together they nonetheless form Computerron.

The Gestalt Decepticons are Devastator, Menezor, Bruticus, Abominus and Predaking. Stunticons (cars) form Menezor, Combaticons (old military equipment) - Bruticus, Terrorcons (monsters) - Abominus, and Predacons (robotic animals), respectively, Predaking. Almost all Decepticon gestalts were able to perform only one task - mindlessly destroy.

Dinobots and Insecticons Some transformers do not turn into planes and trains at all, but into the likeness of earthly life forms. Dinobots

- a squad of Autobots of impressive size with decent firepower and strength. Each of the Dinobots - Slag, Sludge, Snarl, Swoop and their permanent leader Grimlock - is a remarkable personality who does not particularly shine with intelligence and communicates at the level of “mine will hit you.” Dinobots transform into dinosaurs - pterodactyl, triceratops, stegosaurus and other lizards.

Transforming cities

In the world of Transformers, size matters. Especially if you can turn into an entire city. There are only two such robots, and they are the worst enemies. Metroplex protects the interests of the Autobots, and Trypticon fights for the Decepticons. emerged from the ruins of the destroyed Autobot city in 2005. This amazingly sized transformer spends most of its time in city mode, but can take on two other forms when necessary - a mobile battle station and a colossal robot. The left tower of Metroplex transforms into a Slammer tank, the central tower and six guns transform into a small robot, Sixgun, and a sports car, Scamper, is hidden inside Metroplex.

Trypticon was created by the Constructicons from parts of an ordinary city. This is a merciless and terrible death machine, ready to destroy everything in its path. Immediately after his birth, Trypticon destroyed the Autobots' Ark. Like Metroplex, Trypticon has three modes - a military base, a mobile station and a huge tyrannosaurus. Its activities are supported by two autonomous droids - Full-Tilt and Brunt.

Three-mode

A regular transformer has two modes - robot and one alternative. But there are exceptions here too. Transformers with two alternative modes are called three-mode.

Each side has three three-mode units.

For the Decepticons, this is the warlike Blitzwing, capable of transforming into a tank and a MiG-25 fighter, and his comrade Astrotrain. The Astrotrain's main function is combat transport, and it successfully copes with it in train and space shuttle modes. After the Battle of Autobot City, they were joined by Octane, a fuel transport transformer with fuel tanker and tanker plane modes.

Autobot tri-modes appeared after 2005 - the brave Springer (helicopter and car), Sandstorm (helicopter and sand buggy) and Broadside (plane and aircraft carrier).

Russian adaptation followed by Transformers came to Russia in the early nineties, when Channel 6 of St. Petersburg began broadcasting

. The question immediately arose - how to adapt the names of the characters for the Russian viewer. The translators chose the following option: names “in a high dialect” like Optimus Prime and Megatron were left unchanged, and a Russian equivalent was invented for everyone else. So, Starscream became Brawler , Shockwave - Exploded , Bumblebee - Hornet . There were also incidents - for example, Soundwave became Barkhan.

(apparently, the translators heard Sandwave here - “Sand Wave”), and the character Hotspot - in general followed by, was a new toy line with redesigns of old characters. After the American “generations,” Japanese sequels appeared. Having thrown out the last, fourth season of the first generation, the Japanese continued the G1 series, And, After the Japanese, the baton was picked up by the Canadians, who released the first Transformers series with 3D graphics. Compote Robots in Disguise.

* * *

The development of the Transformers universe continues to this day. Japanese animators are making a strong contribution to the expansion of the saga, who last year completed a series called “Transformers: Galaxy Power” (in the USA - “Transformers: Cybertron”).

At the same time, Hasbro itself never ceases to stir up interest in the universe. It releases a new re-release of the classic G1 in a line of toys called Transformers Universe, excellent quality Transformers toys based on existing prototype machines in the Transformers Alternators series and, of course, toys based on the Cybertron series. But the main event in the Transformers universe awaits us in 2007, when producer Steven Spielberg and director Michael Bay release a full-length live-action film with a simple, but so close to the heart title, “Transformers.”

Transformers is a multifaceted universe with a huge number of characters and alternative stories. Each story is a full-fledged saga, each character is a full-fledged personality. A simple series of toys exceeded all expectations and resulted in a whole world that became close to millions around the world. After all, there is much more to Transformers than meets the eye.

The birth of transformers The story of a race of robots from the planet Cybertron originates in Japan in 1980 - it was then that the “ancestors” of the current transformers were created, not much like those to which we are accustomed. In 1984, at a toy show in Tokyo, the head of Hasbro's R&D, John Dunsay, seeing great potential in robots, decided to release them to the American market. Having slightly modified the humanoid machines to suit the interests of American buyers, Hasbro produces the G.I. Joe: America's Real Heroes." That same year, the US Federal Communications Agency allowed toy manufacturers to create cartoons based on their products, and Hasbro, together with Marvel, introduced a comic book series and an animated series to audiences in America.

There are two versions of the appearance of transformers According to one of them, 11 million years ago the planet Cybertron was inhabited by a race of Quintessons - highly developed technological creatures with five faces (from the word “quinta” - five). Quintessons were divided into several types: judges, bailiffs, scientists, executors and prosecutors.

According to one legend, the Quintessons “invented” the ancestors of the Transformers

They built factories on Cybertron to produce robots to do the hardest work and endowed their creations with artificial intelligence. These were robot gladiators and robot workers, distant ancestors Decepticons and Autobots.

A little later, the Quintessons discovered a source of energy - energon, which has no analogues in the universe. Energon had an unusual radiation that eventually affected the processors in the robots, giving them intelligence.

Tired of the oppression of the tyrants - the Quintessons, the robots rebelled. Thus began the First Cybertronian War, in which the Quintessons were defeated and expelled from the planet

Planet Cybertron before the Transformers Wars

A time of peace began, in which the Autobots were engaged in science, and the Decepticons defended the planet from possible attacks. But the Autobots and Decepticons were too different, and another conflict for power broke out, which escalated into the Second Cybertronian War. During the war, the Autobots discovered transformation technology, allowing them to change not only their shape, but sometimes also their size.

An unconditional victory was won over the Decepticons, and they were no longer perceived as a real threat. But the situation changed dramatically when they also mastered the ability to transform, and they had a cruel leader, Megatron. He collected huge army and rebelled against the Autobots, unleashing the Third Cybertronian War, which continues to this day and has transferred to our planet.

Unicron is a very angry giant transformer

The second legend of the origin of the transformers race claims, that in time immemorial there were two twin brothers, Primus and Unicron, the largest Transformers to ever exist. Primus was the embodiment of absolute good, Unicron was the embodiment of absolute evil.

The brothers waged a constant struggle, pursuing different goals: Primus wants peace and harmony, and Unicron wants absolute power over the universe, for which he constantly absorbs worlds. After Unicron was defeated, he went to wander the universes, and Primus transformed into a new planet - Cybertron, creating all the now known transformers. According to another version, Unicron was destroyed and turned into one of the moons surrounding the planet Cybertron.

The issue of the institution of family is practically not covered either in comics or in cartoons. It is only known that there are women among the transformers, there are fewer of them than men, they are among both the Autobots and the Decepticons

Types of Transformers
Singles and gestalts– several robots forming a single transformer, connecting with each other.

Mechanoids (exclusively mechanical robots):
Autobots are peaceful transformers, mostly scientists, the name stands for “AUTONOMOUS ROBOTS.”
Decepticons are warriors who dream of seizing power over the worlds. They take their name from a combination of the English words “deception” and “construction”.
Mini-cons are miniature robots (smaller than human height) with the most high intelligence and are considered perfect transformers. They form gelstalts. They cannot speak, but they understand any speech. They take sides with both Autobots and Decepticons.

Organoids (robots that include an organic component):
The Maximals are distant descendants of the Autobots, adherents of a peaceful life. They transform into animals or insects, sometimes into plants.
Predacons are distant descendants of the Decepticons. They also transform into animals, insects or plants.

Some Transformers have multiple alt forms available. For example, Maximals and Predacons are dual-mode, able to transform into both animals and military equipment.

Planets of the transformers universe
Earth is the main location of military operations.
The sun is a close object of attention for transformers. It is considered as an alternative source of energy, or as a powerful weapon.
The Moon - the Decepticons planned to knock it out of Earth's orbit in order to control the tide schedule.
Titan is not of interest to transformers, but has powerful reserves of internal energy.
Planet of the Giants- populated by humanoids, in comparison with which giant transformers seem like toys.
Floraan-3 is a planet inhabited by plant-predators Morphobots.
Monacus is an asteroid, the center of intergalactic gambling business.
Planet Tlalocan- a planet lost in the universe, which Megatron is trying to capture because of the “Well of Transformation” located on it. By plunging into this well, you can take on any form.
Antilla was once an Autobot colony planet that became extinct due to “cosmic rust” brought to it by an asteroid.
Unicron is a giant robot, absolute evil, transforming into a planet.
Liton is a planet with a highly developed civilization absorbed by Unitron.
Junk is a planet where transformers export unnecessary scrap metal.
Quintessa is the place of residence of the Quintessons (according to one of the legends, the creators of transformers), after they were expelled from Cybertron.
Chaar is an abandoned planet covered with the ruins of cities destroyed during the Cybertronian Wars.
Ethenia - after the victory of the Autobots in the Great War, was chosen as the site of the interplanetary Olympics.
Mars is the location of the Earth's Space Defense Forces.
Torkulon is a healing planet, a kind of cosmic “psychiatric hospital”.

From the compiler

This text is basically a translation of the corresponding article from the TF-wiki with some additions. The illustrations are also mostly from there. All material is supported by examples from TV series, comics, and films. So it contains reliable and complete information for today about how new transformers are born, and not bizarre theories created by the imagination of various fans and appearing in fan fiction.

In the original article from TF-wiki, the restoration of a previously living transformer was also included in the methods of reproduction (for example, Unicron remaking Megatron into Galvatron in the 1986 film). And since reproduction was understood in such a broad sense, I found it necessary to include cloning here as well. Moreover, in the latest third season of Transformers: Prime and the feature film Predacons Rising, cloning led to the emergence of completely new heroes.

Terms and names when they first appear in an article are usually in bold. The names of transformers can be written in several translations. If the character is little known (at the discretion of the compiler), the name in the original is given in parentheses. The titles of series, comics or films are written in brackets in blue in the original. I hope you find this material interesting and useful.

I. Reproduction methods

So, below are described the ways to create a new transformer life, shown in TV series, films, and comics.

Mechanical construction

Sometimes new transformers are assembled from spare parts and even any scrap material. The body of a new transformer is constructed, and then it gains life.

The Autobots, despite all the machinations of the Decepticons, collect Godbomber– a robot that serves to upgrade Optimus Prime (Jinrai). But over time, the Thunderer begins to demonstrate independence.

Budding

In comics "Transformers: Generation 2" the concept of “budding” was introduced as reproduction not related to the sex of the transformer. A bubble or some kind of swelling appears on the robot’s chest, apparently filled with liquid metal. Its appearance is accompanied by a discharge of energy. It grows more and more intensely, until finally the increased mass of liquid metal is released from the chest. She then slowly forms into a protoform-like faded figure, and then hardens into a full-fledged transformer.

In the Marvel comics, the first Transformers reproduced in this way until they reached the population level that Primus desired. After this, reproduction stopped, and the memory of all transformers was erased. When the Transformers (possibly influenced Liege Maximo) rediscovered this method approximately 4 million years after the loss of the Ark, subsequent generations of new robots turned out to be less and less intelligent and capable of feeling (since, apparently, the life force of Primus was distributed between them less and less), and dangerous life forms called Swarming as a by-product.

It is noteworthy that a transformer that reproduces in this way retains something like a connection with its offspring, even if they are separated by galaxies. First generation Decepticon Osilka (Onslota) a sharp pain pierces when his "son" Mindset dies. And Liege Maximo claims that he will feel if his descendant Megatron dies.

5. Cloning

Transformers have genetic material (analogous to human DNA). It is called CNA, which stands for Cyber/Nano Constructs (in Transformers Animated: The AllSpark Almanac II) or Cyber Nucleic Acid (in Transformers: Prime). This genetic material can be used in the laboratory to create clones of an existing or once living transformer.

Insecticons have the ability to spontaneously clone themselves from scrap materials ("A Plague of Insecticons").

Megatron creates a superior clone of Optimus Prime, and later a clone of Starscream ("A Prime Problem").

There is a subgroup of transformers that are called clones. These are just two Autobots: Fastlane Masterforce Cloudraker. And two Decepticons: Pounce Masterforce Wingspan. They appear in passing in the fourth season of G1 in the episode “The Rebirth, Part 1”. There is no information about their origin, but the name itself may hint at the method of their birth.

At Headmasters

Fastlane, Cloudcracker, Pounce and Wingspan reappear in the Headmasters series. And their peculiarity is also revealed - the clones look completely identical only in the form of a robot, but their transformations are completely different. In addition, it turns out that the Autobot and Decepticon clones were initially connected by friendship (series where Autobot clones appear: “Mystery of the Space Pirate Ship”, “The Final Showdown on Earth (Part 1)”; series where Decepticon clones appear: “ Miraculous Warriors, Targetmasters (Part 2)", "The Final Showdown on Earth (Part 1)", "The Final Showdown on Earth (Part 2)").

In the Beast Era

Megatron in the TV series "Beast Wars" creates a clone Dinobot for a sabotage mission. This clone was later eaten by Dinobot ("Double Dinobot").

At the end of the video game Beast Wars Transmetals, Ravage uses a "cloning device based on transreplication technology" to clone the first generation Decepticons deactivated on the Ark into new protoform bodies.

In Dreamwave comics

Transformer clones such as Pounce, Wingspan, Fastlane and Cloudcracker were created artificially by splitting a spark and injecting it into protoforms. The resulting pairs of twins are less balanced and more attached to each other than other transformers.

After Great Shutdown Shockwave begins cloning research. He developed several clones of famous Transformers, thanks to the technology he received when Megatron made a deal with the Quintessons. But when Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus ruined his plans, the clones were not yet ready. Decepticons from the subgroup Battlechargers stumbled upon his laboratory while looking for medical capsules (CR Chamber), and found some surviving clones. At the same time, the computers were still processing the information that Shockwave had downloaded from Vector Sigma, and distributing it to any memory available at that time... For example, in Sunstorm, clone of Starscream (“Generation One”).

Comic "Descent into Evil"

Deathsaurus clones Insecticons to conquer the universe.

In a comic from IDW

Mad scientist Jhiaxus, experimenting with CNK, creates a new transformer, moreover, female (Arsi).

In "Transformers Animated"

Starscream falls into the hands of a fragment of the Great Spark, and he creates five clones, each of which most clearly embodies one of his traits: cowardice, selfishness, deceit, meanness and... femme Slipstim(“A Bridge Too Close, Part I”).

Twins Jetfire Masterforce Jetstorm were created by Autobots using technology they took from Starscream (“Safeguard’s toy bio”). But in the comic book “First (and Second) in Flight” they are not called clones.

Swindle (Fingal) creates two more clones of Starscream ("The AllSpark Almanac II"). Megatron uses Starscream's cloning technology to create a clone Omega Supreme with personality Lagnata(“Endgame, Part I”).

In the Prime universe

In the game "War for Cybertron" Zeta Prime incites his energy clones to attack.

According to information received from the creators of TFP at the event Comic-Con (2013) The Vehicons "started out as clones but evolved over the course of the series." Meanwhile, many viewers initially thought they were drones without sparks.

Insecticons in the Prime universe, as in G1, are capable of cloning.

In Transformers: Prime, Starscream, in exile, finds a laboratory on an abandoned ship. "The Harbinger" (Harbinger), where there is everything needed for the cloning operation. Having created five clones, he sends them to take revenge on Megatron. To Starscream's surprise, the clones are not only indistinguishable from him in appearance, but also well aware of Starscream's true character and intentions. He is also overcome by an attack of pain if the clone dies. (“Armada”).

In the third season of Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters, betrayed by Starscream and forgotten on Cybertron, Shockwave returns to experiments in cloning the Predacons, a prehistoric Transformer race that went extinct on Cybertron many years ago. He creates Predaking (Pest) and introduces him to Megatron as "the most formidable hunter of the Autobots" ("Scattered"). Later, the Decepticons try to clone more of Predaking's kin, using the bones of Predacons found on Earth (since Megatron once already had an army of cloned Predacons, which terrified the Autobots and inspired the ancient people to create legends about dragons). A real hunt is underway for the bones (“Project Predacon”). But Predaking turns out to be not just a beast, but an intellectual being, a personality, and also has the ability to transform. Megatron begins to see him as a competitor and understands that he will follow through Project "Predacon"" means to undermine his power. The Decepticons arrange it so that the Autobots find the cloning laboratory and blow it up, preventing the monsters from being born. For this, the Autobots are persecuted by Predaking, who is beside himself with grief, rage and restlessness (“Evolution”). However, in the end, Predaking learns the truth from Ratchet and turns against the true culprit of the death of his brothers - Megatron. But he loses in battle (“Synthesis”). In the series finale, the miraculously surviving Predaking ends up on the restored Cybertron and flies away (“Deadlock”).

IN full-length film"Predacons Rising" Shockwave and Starscream, having escaped after Megatron's death, secretly try to create an army of cloned Predacons. But so far they have only got two cocky, not too smart, but strong and beautiful Predacons in their own way: Darksteel Masterforce Skylinks. Predaking, sitting alone on the edge of a plain strewn with Predacon bones, learns about them from the Autobots. But unfortunately, when trying to find his relatives, he encounters the restored Megatron, whose body is under the control of Unicron, and tells him that there used to be many Predacons. Unicron defeats him in combat and learns the details by reading information directly from Predaking's mind. After this, with the help of dark energon, he raises a legion of dead Predacons and sets off to destroy with it the core of Cybertron, that is, Primus himself. Predaking finds Darksteel and Skylynx and emerges victorious in the fight with them, thus forcing them to recognize their dominance. Since Unicron's threat spells destruction for all living things, the Predacons become allies of the Autobots. They turn out to be the only ones who can really hold off the army of rebel Predacons on the way to the Well of the Great Spark until Prime arrives.

6. Sexual reproduction (bot + female)

Finally we got to the most interesting section. J

The possibility of offspring appearing in male and female transformers, similar to how it occurs in humans.

At first glance, it is strange to see the separation of the sexes in robots and their attraction to each other. But transformers are creatures in highest degree reaching out to others. This can be seen in their community, which is so similar to the human one, in interpersonal relationships and even in the extraordinary practice of uniting bodies and minds (Gestalts). Therefore, if transformers are very familiar with the feeling of friendship or hatred, why should the feeling of love be inaccessible to them?

In many works about transformers there is a romantic line, or hints at it. Appearance female characters along with men’s, it is often accompanied by the fact that they develop an interest in each other that is far from the transformer war. And, figuratively speaking, a spark runs between them. As a result, in transformer works one can observe love couples, transformer families and offspring.

There is such a concept "sparkmates" that is, “the union of sparks” or “spark-consort.” It is analogous to the human concept of “marriage”. The term appears primarily in fan fiction, but has been used twice in canon: in the video game "Beast Wars Transmetals" For "Nintendo 64" when describing the relationship between Airazor and Tigatron and in the Transformers magazine "Venus" for Decepticons (“Transformers Animated: The AllSpark Almanac”).

Also in the Unicron Trilogy, the character Downshift has fembot lifebond partner), with which he was “combined, according to the Testament of Primus.”

And in IDW's More Than Meets The Eye comics, Transformers have a concept Conjunx Endura which actually means a spiritually related spark. However, this can mean not only love, but also deep, devoted friendship.

In the book “The Story of Wheelie, the Wild Boy of Quintesson” (1986) there is information that Willie ended up on the planet Quintesson after crashing on a ship with his parents.

In the Victory manga, at the end it is revealed that Desaras and the rest of the Decepticons have been fighting all along to ensure the survival of their families, that the space fortress is the home where their loved ones are. The leader of the Decepticons himself is married to a female Esmiril. Children of the Decepticons can also be seen in the manga. They look like smaller versions of adults.

Sexual reproduction may well have taken place in the Beast Wars series, where Rattrap very often made dirty jokes, especially in relation to Silverbolt Masterforce Blackarachnia. The first was a Maximal, and the second was a Predacon. However, their feelings for each other turned out to be stronger than the ancient conflict of Transformers and continued in the sequel "Beast Machines" Also, in Beast Machines, Transformers become techno-organic creatures. And since sexual reproduction is typical for highly developed organic beings, it could well have taken place there. In what appears to be a dream or vision, Silverbolt and Blackarachnia are shown uniting in some ethereal form and their sparks merge. But perhaps for transformers this process is more significant spiritually than physically.

There are hints in Michael Bay's franchise that Transformers may not only be born through mechanical assembly. At the end of the first film in 2007, Optimus Prime sadly calls him brother over Megatron's body. It might be assumed that he did not mean the kinship literally, but in the Nintendo DS game Transformers The Game it is mentioned that Megatron "took the spark" from their common father. In the movie Revenge of the Fallen, Jetfire proudly talks about his father, who was a wheel (which means Bay's Transformers have some kind of concept of family). And in issue 4 of the comic book “Revenge of the Fallen” Rampage names Sam's parents as the initiators of the release of his protoform batch initiators.

The same term also appears in IDW's Generation 1 comics and Transformers Animated. So, in the comic book “Infiltration, vol. 3" Ratchet remembers the teachings of his protoform initiator. And in "Transformers Animated: The AllSpark Almanac II" Ironhide says that Brawl is "his brother from another protoform initiator."

In the first generation Dreamwave comics, the term is slightly different - proto-hatcher. Autobot Getaway in The Age of Wrath, vol. 2" suggests that his proto-carrier would be proud of him.

In Transformers: Prime, Ratchet, under the influence of synthetic energon, tries to flirt with Arcee ("Stronger, Faster"). And in the same episode, Breakdown admits to the Vehicon that he is not indifferent to the Aerachnid.

In general, the list of romantic couples in the Transformers universe is more than a dozen. You can read it at the link: http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Transformer_romance#cite_note-0

Transformers people

Sometimes increasing the transformer species is possible with the help of people.

People have long been interconnected with the transformer race. They often act as irreplaceable partners. By chance, they even accomplish or help to accomplish global events in transformer history. Transformers draw strength from friendship with them. But sometimes people become more than allies.

In G1 and Headmasters

The first such case is observed in the series "Autobot Spike". Spike's father Torch (Sparkplug) designed a body which he called Autobot X. But when his son is seriously injured, there is nothing left to do but transfer Spike's mind into the body of this robot. However, Spike experiences terrible mental suffering and, having been deceived by Megatron, turns against the Autobots. But everything ends well.

In G1 Season 4 and the Headmasters TV series/comics, the Autobots see the only way to escape and effectively fight enemies only by teaming up with people. Person or inhabitant of the planet Nebulon, dressed in metal armor, can transform into the head of a transformer (hence the meaning of the term headmaster). Seeing what the Autobots were capable of after such an upgrade, the Decepticons followed suit.

However, with this method, there is rather a symbiosis between a person and a transformer rather than the emergence of new creatures. It is noteworthy that not only a person can use such technology, but also a smaller robot to turn into a large transformer. This technology can be seen in Japanese Transformer series up to "Zone".

In "Masterforce"

The main theme of the Masterforce series in general is how transformers emerge from people. Known since the time of Headmasters, technology from the planet Master allows people to connect with transtectors, empty transformer bodies. A person also has to put on metal armor and transform into the head or body of a robot. But in this way, new transformer personalities are actually formed. This is reminiscent of how a spark animates a protoform.

In Transformers: Prime

Driven by bad intentions Silas- leader of a terrorist organization "MECH" creates an evil double of Optimus - Nemesis Prime, which can be controlled remotely. But his machinations are destroyed by the real Optimus along with his earthly allies (“Nemesis Prime”). Later, the seriously injured Silas is integrated into the body of the deceased Breakdown, after which he even tries to join the Decepticons (“The Human Factor”). As a result of a crazy experiment by Starscream and Knockout, Silas, in Breakdown's body, is exposed to dark energon and turns into an energy vampire of sorts, causing a big commotion on the Decepticon ship. In his thirst for energon, he awakens the Aerachnid from the stasis capsule. But in the end, Silas dies at her clutches, accepting death as liberation (“Thirst”).

CONCLUSION

Based on the above methods, it can be assumed that transformers can simultaneously have several methods of reproduction. And if there is an urgent need for procreation, they are able to invent new ways.

II. The concept of protoform

Protoform is one of the forms of a transformer. It is a fairly fluid metallic substance that covers basic robotic systems. The protoform resembles a humanoid figure, colorless or metallic in color, with no distinct features. In many Transformer works, the protoform is the first stage of the Transformer's life cycle. Such protoforms wait until they are given the spark and alt-form information to transform into a full-fledged transformer. It is not uncommon for protoform mode to be used during interstellar travel. Also in some Transformer works, the Transformer can place a spark into a new protoform or remake an old one. This is a radical way of repair.

In "Beast Wars"

Protoforms were mostly kept in stasis capsules when sent to unexplored worlds. On the ship "Axalon" transported many of these stasis capsules, including protoform X (Rampage)- an unsuccessful attempt to create an immortal spark, which was intended for burial due to sterility. When the ship crashed on prehistoric Earth, Optimus Primal gave the command to throw the protoforms into space ("Beast Wars (Part 1)"). A little later, when the first stasis capsules fell to Earth, Dinobot managed to activate the DNA scanner to search for compatible life forms and remake the proto-form inside into Tigatron ("Fallen Comrades").

While Blackarachnia was in her protoform state, Tarantula set her predacon shell program, and she became an enemy of the maximals (“Double Jeopardy”). A little later, Rhinox miraculously saved another protoform and a spark, successfully bringing Airazor (“The Spark”) into the white light. Tarantula's new attempt to create a third Predacon spider failed because the stasis capsule scanned the life form before him, and the proto-form turned into Inferno ("Spider's Game").

As a result of the activities of mysterious aliens Wok the remaining stasis capsules fell from orbit. Two of them were damaged upon impact and reformatted the protoforms into fusors, and the third, found by the Maximals, turned out to be a “dummy” - a proto-form without a spark (“Coming of the Fuzors (Part 1)”). Rhinox saved Optimus Primal from death using this empty protoform ("Coming of the Fuzors (Part 2)"). Protoform X suddenly also turned out to be viable and was turned into a Predacon by Megatron ("Bad Spark"). One of the protoforms, trapped in a malfunctioning capsule, mutated into a defective creature known as Transmutate unfortunately, it seems to have retained the mind of a fully-fledged transformer (“Transmutate”).

Megatron used the dummy proto-form to recreate Dinobot ("Feral Scream Part 1").

In Beast Wars II

Predacon warriors, who appeared to be protoforms, were shown moving around the Predacon ship. But it's unclear whether they had sparks or personalities. Then the Predacons collected enough information about the machines of the past on Gaea and transmitted this information to protoforms through energy waves. Thus, the protoforms turned into Autorollers(“White Lion, Run!”).

The atmosphere of the planet Gaia caused rust on the protoforms (“ The New Forces Arrive!"). Despite this, the protoforms seen on the ship's bridge Galvaburg II, are sent to the planet (“The Insect Corps Arrive”).

In "Robots in Disguise"

The Autobots, and possibly the Predacons, are able to transform into their protoform during long journeys, presumably to conserve energy. Some properties of the original form remain in the new form that the transformer takes. So, Skurge retained the ability to detect artifacts O-Part. The disadvantage of the proto form is that the Autobot is very vulnerable in this state. Megatron managed to use the energy of his spark to convert some Autobot protoforms to his side ("The Decepticons").

In IDW comics

On a crashed planet Clemency Decepticon ship "Worldsweeper" there were faulty prototypes inside the tanks (“Rules of Disengagement”).

In the animated series "Cybertron"

Protoforms are the first stage in the life of transformers. It is usually followed by Primary programming, an analogue of school for people.

In the Michael Bay franchise

Protoforms grow and develop inside energon containers (Revenge of the Fallen). The protoforms themselves represent more than the first stage of life. This is kind of the base form of every Transformer. Protoforms are made of ultra-dense liquid metal and are very difficult to damage.

On rare occasions when Transformers needed to travel interstellarly, they shed their exo-structure and returned in a proto-form state. Such a protoform is capable of accepting transition form: armored, resembling a comet in appearance. After landing on another planet, she transforms back into her protoform, and the transformer immediately begins scanning for a new suitable altforms. When new form selected, the super-dense matter of the protoform and any suitable matter nearby can be used to create a new camouflage exostructure (Transformers: The Movie Guide book).

Starscream's attempts to create a new army fail due to a lack of energon, and the "little ones", as he affectionately calls them, die. Many Decepticons arrived on Earth with Fallen to extinguish the sun. But they didn't bother to choose an alternative form and remained in the form of a proto-form. These Decepticons helped attack the forces NEST in Egypt, but most of them died in a shootout with the Autobots and the earth's military. And the rest were killed by the military during an air strike (“Revenge of the Fallen”).

Many Decepticons in protoforms were hiding on the moon, they arrived on Earth through a space bridge activated by Sentinel Prime ("Dark of the Moon").

In "Transformers Animated"

Protoforms are created from protomatter, which is extracted from Sonic Canyons on Cybertron ("The AllSpark Almanac II"). At the first stage, they resemble faceless mannequins and are stored in capsules that are lined up along the wall in a secret Chamber of the Matrix (Matrix Chamber) hidden in the dojo Autobot cyberninja corps (Cyber-Ninja Corps), who are charged with the duty of protecting them ("Five Servos of Doom"). As a rule, at first the protoforms go through the “casting” stage, acquiring the form of a robot (“Endgame, Part I”). Either the Great Spark or Vector Sigma is then used to imbue the protoform with a spark ("The AllSpark Almanac II"). However, the "casting" stage can be skipped and the spark can be injected directly into the proto-mold ("Five Servos of Doom"). The same casting can be used for many protoforms, resulting in similar body types and transformation patterns. For example, the type was very popular "65356-9292-346", which included Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, Wasp and others (“Autoboot Camp”). If a person says about himself that he was “born,” then transformers can say that they “came out of protoform.” Additionally, the word "protoform" is sometimes used in a derogatory sense to refer to a young and inexperienced Transformer.

In the Prime universe

Protoforms are created by the Great Spark in the Well of the Great Spark and, apparently, are endowed with sparks there. However, on board the Decepticon ship Harbinger, Starscream was lucky to find five protoforms ("Armada").

III. Childhood

In some Transformer works, Transformers are born as fully functional creatures. For example, in many cases in the G1 series. And in others they need to grow, develop and learn. This is seen in the Prime universe, in the Cybertron series, and, apparently, in the Victory manga, where the offspring of the Decepticons appear too small and weak to live full adult lives.

In the toy description Thrust the term was used "Alpha unit" to characterize this character in “childhood”. At the moment there are no other similar official terms. As well as there is no information about the timing of the increase in the transformer, etc.

Many Transformer works lack information about childhood as a special period in the life of a Transformer. But this does not necessarily mean that such a period does not exist at all. It may not be disclosed or discarded as unimportant.

We should also not forget that in the third season of G1 it is revealed that transformers were created by the Quintessons. How exactly is not explained, but, apparently, it was mechanical assembly in factories and conveyors.

Beast Era or "Beast Era" is a franchise that includes the series "Beast War", "Beast Wars II", "Beast Wars Neo", "Beast Machines", as well as text materials and toys "Transtech" and "Universe" (2003 G.).

According to Marvel comics, all Transformers were created by Primus, a transforming god who, by the time the story takes place, transformed himself into the planet Cybertron. They were defense mechanisms created to protect him from his evil brother Unicron.

According to the storyline of the cartoons drawn in the USA, Transformers are huge robots created by the Quintesson race.The animated series also reveal two theories about the creation of transformers: the Quintessons and Primus.

In the movie "Transformers" their name stands for " Auto nominal po bot isolated forms of life."

TOJust like any world on which life originates must begin with the Big Bang. And it's not about theories, but about logic and consistency.So, my vision of the origin of transformers.

The first two giant transformers appeared in the universe - Primus and Unicron, embodying absolute Good and Evil, and therefore irreconcilably at war with each other. After Unicron's defeat, Primus wished to become a new planet and rebuilt itself into Cybertron[Armada: s4с10]. TOlike any transformerPrimusas an analogue of the brain, it has a super-powerful computer, which contains a spark - an analogue of the human soul, hidden in the bowels of the planet.

Cybertron

Planetographic characteristics

Cybertron is surrounded by an oxygen atmosphere, which is close in composition to that of Earth (although transformers, in principle, do not need oxygen to breathe; people can be on Cybertron without a spacesuit).

Currently there are oil lakes and even swamps. According to more recent data, Cybertron's liquid core consists of molten organic matter.

The star that Cybertron orbits has not been identified. Gravity is the same as on Earth (in any case, neither transformers on Earth nor people on Cybertron have problems in this regard).

The planet has two large satellites, also metallic, but devoid of an atmosphere and practically uninhabited.

Minerals

Cybertron has rich deposits of various metals, most of them similar to those on Earth, with the exception of cybertronium. There is no information about the origin and physicochemical properties and characteristics of this metal - it is only known that it is vital for transformers: without it they lose the ability to control their actions and become weaker. Cybertronium ore appears as greenish crystals that emit a faint glow (probably due to radioactivity). It lies deep under the surface of the planet and is mined in mines.

Terrain of Cybertron

Cybertron is completely metallic, from the poles to the equator. When viewed from space, the planet appears to be “gnawed”; its surface is uneven, much of it is covered with mountains and gorges, but it is unclear whether these landforms are natural or resulted from the destruction caused by multimillion-year wars. Under the visible part of the surface is a bulky and intricate system of mechanisms and tunnels leading deep into the planet. It’s not difficult even for a transformer to get lost in them; only a very few know how to get to the Sigma Computer - the main computer of Cybertron, and only a few are aware that 12 floors below the Sigma Computer there is a chamber with plasma energy.

Unicron

Unicron(English) Unicron) - an inhabitant of the fictional Transformers Universe. Embodies absolute cosmic Evil.

As for Unicron, he was expelled by Primus (or flew away himself) to hell and since then began to wander forever in the Universe, absorbing all the planets he came across along the way, and upon his return he was deactivated and turned into one of the “moons” of Cybertron[ The Movie], on which life is impossible.

Description

Unicron is the most gigantic Transformer to ever exist. It is larger than many planets, and a whole planet can easily fly into its eye. spaceship. His goal is dominion over the Universe, and the path to achieving it is the absorption of worlds. There is not a drop of sympathy or compassion in him.

According to the version of the animated series Armada, Unicron created mini-cons (the size of a human child), who subsequently moved to Cybertron. Once upon a time, the planet was inhabited by a race of small, but very gifted and hardworking robots - mini-cons, which each of the warring factions sought to take control of. Wanting to maintain freedom and not be used as weapons, the mini-cons left their home planet and returned only after the cessation of hostilities.

Quintessons

Originally appear in full-length cartoon"Transformers: The Movie." The history of the Quintessons is described in more detail in the mini-series “Five Faces of Darkness”, which opens the 3rd season of “The Transformers”. It is reported here that the Quintessons are the creators of all transformers.

11 million years ago, the planet Cybertron was inhabited by the Quintesson race. These were highly developed mechanized creatures. In the course of scientific research, they discovered a new source of energy - energon, which in its power was many times greater than all existing analogues. At first they treated him with apprehension and carefully studied him. A special radiation emitted by energon was discovered, but in the end it was found to be safe for living organisms and mechanisms. Once upon a time they built factories on Cybertron to produce robots. At that time, the Quintessons were actively using the first prototypes of transformers.The factories produced robots of two types: workers and warriors (in the distant future, Autobots and Decepticons, respectively, descended from them).After some time, robots began to be endowed with artificial intelligence.This was facilitated by mysterious radiation that affected the silicon processors of ordinary manned robots, giving them intelligence.At the same time, the Quintessons themselves delegated almost all the responsibilities for maintaining the plant to robots (including specially created guards - Sharkticons).

Cruel QuintessonsdFor entertainment, gladiatorial fights between robots were organized. Theybegan production of two types of robots:combatgladiator robots (Decepticons), who were forced to fight among themselves for the entertainment of their masters, becausespecifically intended for participation in gladiatorial battlesand robot workers (Autobots), who were assigned the role of workers in factories.The oppression over intelligent machines lasted for a long time, untilcruel treatment and tough games did not create discontent among the latter, which led to the uprising against their masters.Dissatisfied with the tyranny of the Quintessons, the Decepticons, together with the Autobots, participated in the uprising.The uprising was led by a transformer AutobotA-3 [ G1s3c12 ]* against the rule of the Quintessons, so nThe First Cybertronian War began inas a result of whichthe Quintessons were defeated and expelled fromCybertron [ G1s3c 4 ]. After this, the planet Quintessa became their residence. As a legacy for future generations, they left the “Dweller of the Subsoil” - the most terrible of the monsters generated in the laboratories of the Quintessons during experiments on the creation of “transorganoids” - half-machines, half-animals. The “transorganoids,” conceived as workers and warriors, turned out to be stupid and unusually evil, they began to attack the Quintessons, and the “Dweller” crippled its creator, destroying his “most beautiful” face. With great difficulty, the “transorganoids” were defeated; the bulk of them were killed.

Creation by Primus

After exile Quintessonov nThe era of peace has arrived... Intelligent robots were the only ones inhabitants of the planet and they began to explore their home. One of the few who managed to find the way to the heart of Cybertron was A-3. After meeting with the yellow shining ball, he learned a lot about Cybertron, it was revealed to him that the soul of the planet is Primus, whose spark is contained in the Sigma Computer. Primus reformatted A-3, turning him into Alpha Trion and giving him the activation key. Since then, Alpha Trion has become the keeper of the key to the Sigma computer.

The Autobots continued to engage in construction and science, and the Decepticons became warriors, defenders of the planet Cybertron and guardians of order.For some time both races lived in peace and harmony; however, later their goals and aspirations diverged, becauseAutobots and Decepticons were too different in their way of life, thinking, philosophy, and serious disagreements began between them.Subsequently, the Transformers split into two powerful warring races - the Autobots and the Decepticons, who entered into a war for dominion over the planet and its energy sources. The conflict escalated all the time until it turned into an open struggle for power. Thus began the Second Cybertronian War, during which the Autobots invented transformation technology that allowed robots to change their shape (in some cases, size), quickly rebuilding them into weapons/vehicles[G1s3c 4 ] . The Autobots also managed to use the remaining Quintessons giant robots-Guards.During the war toAlpha to TrionThe Matrix of Leadership has passed, which contains a piece of Primus’s spark.Thanks to this, a temporary victory was won over the Decepticons, and the Autobots ceased to perceive them as a serious threat.

Everything changed when the Decepticons also mastered transformation technology; from that moment on, the Autobots lost their main advantage. In addition, the Decepticons have a new sinister leader - Megatron. Taking advantage of the enemy's carelessness, he created a large army and unleashed the Third Cybertronian War, which continues to this day. It was at that time that the new leader of the Autobots, Optimus Prime, appeared, to whomAlpha Trion and handed overLeadership Matrix[G1s3c 4 ] .

Psychology, lifestyle, everyday life and customs of transformers

The lifespan of transformers is very long, it amounts to millions of years. They are supposed to be essentially immortal and not subject to aging. At least in the series, none of them die “by natural causes.” However, although they are very resistant to mechanical stress, they are still not completely invulnerable, and can be injured or even killed. In addition, unfavorable temperature environmental conditions pose a danger to them: for example, at an excessively high temperature, their bodies melt, and at too low a temperature, all their life processes freeze, and they fall into a coma[ G1s1c7; TF: f1**].

There are references to dead Transformers being sent to be melted down; however, those who particularly distinguished themselves by their valor during their lifetime can count on an honorable burial - they are placed in special tombs[ G1s3c73; G1s3c75].

Being mechanical creatures, transformers are nevertheless capable of feeling pain. They have a certain equivalent of the human “immortal soul” - the “spark of life”, which contains the unique individuality of each of them.

The issue of “reproduction” of transformers has been little studied. It is known that there are women among them, although, judging by the series, there are significantly fewer of them than men. One can assume the existence of love affairs and possibly married couples - at least among the Autobots[ G1s2c53] (decepticons, judging by the TV series, for the most part are “convinced bachelors”).

There are even more ambiguities regarding children. Almost all transformers appearing in the series are adults. Only in the film "Transformers: The Movie" and in the animated series "Transformers: The Headmasters" one of characters- Transformer teenager Wily, but nothing is known regarding his origin.

IN feature film“Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” shows that Decepticons (presumably, Autobots too) are hatched, like insects, from “larvae” that develop inside peculiar cocoons filled with slimy contents - a nutrient medium with the addition of energon.

Mentioned in the TV series Beast Wars and Transformers: The Animation protoforms- immature individuals who are in suspended animation and deprived of individual properties (in “Beast Wars” they look like mannequins without facial features[ B.W.:s1c8***], or as shapeless clumps of a transparent jelly-like substance [ B.W.:s1c15]); from them, through further processing (placing a “spark” inside the body and modifying the external appearance), “real” transformers are created.

Addition. The program starts the activation of the future transformer, scanning the environment and choosing the dominant form that correlates with the individual characteristics of the individual. After this, the transformer receives a name and chooses one or another faction[ B.W.:s2c2;3], or, being in long-term suspended animation as an adult, scans the dominant technique that corresponds to his nature[ G1s1c1], while he already belongs to one faction or another. From this we can conclude that the type, presence or absence of an organic component, as well as the number and types of available alt-forms, is largely determined by the scanning program and individual capabilities.

Classification of transformers

You can select following types transformers:

By number of components:

single;

gestalts ( consisting of two or more “single” transformers).

By the presence or absence of an organic component:

mechanoids:

Autobots;

Decepticons;

mini-cons;

organoids:

maximals;

Predacons (“Age of Beasts”).

By the number of available alt-forms:

“two-regime”;

“three-mode”;

having more than three alt forms.

By type of alt-forms:

technomorphs ( transformers that take the forms of vehicles and various technical devices and devices);

zoomorphs ( transformers that take on the form of animals):

dinobots ( taking on dinosaur shapes);

insecticons ( taking insect forms);

pesticons (G1);

Terrorcons (G1);

Maximals and Predacons (“Age of Beasts”);

fusors ( combining the species of two or more zooforms);

mixed:

Who are Transformers and where did they come from?

Transformers are machines endowed with intelligence and the ability to transform into many other things (from cars to animals and birds), and are constantly at war with each other. The creators of such toys have several versions of the origin of these unusual creatures. In one case, a race of transformers originated on the planet Cybertron, thanks to special radiation that gave intelligence to ordinary robots. As a result, Decepticons (robot fighters) and Autobots (robot workers) appeared. The Transformers civilization has experienced several wars, both between different types of robots and a rebellion against their creators. By the way, as for boys’ favorite toys, it is the transforming robot toy that takes the leading position among children from 3 to 10 years old.

According to another option, transformers owe their existence to a pair of primordial giant robots: the embodiment of absolute good, Primus, and the embodiment of absolute evil, Unicorn. Of course they led constant war, in which good ultimately triumphed in the form of Primus, who gave birth to the transformers. The defeated Unicorn even became the core of the Earth).

A little about true transformerology

It is believed that there are countless types of transformers, which differ from each other in the number of constituent elements (single or multicomponent), organic or entirely mechanical, in the number and types of forms taken during transformation. There is even a special subspecies of robots that can take human form.

Transformers of all shapes and sizes have been invented - from microscopic to multi-meter giants. Each robot has a name and even an analogue of the human soul - the “spark of life.” The main highlight of each transformer is the “transformation gear”, without which it becomes an ordinary robot, incapable of transformation.

According to the creators, transformers live in their own world of a huge number of planets, between which they travel on special spacecraft. These robots are capable of existing for many millennia and even millions of years. They are not born and do not die on their own. They have a high resistance to mechanical damage, but like any mechanism they can also be damaged.

The real "parents" of transformers

In fact, transformers are, first of all, toys. This series was launched for sale by the American company Hasbro together with their Japanese colleagues from Takara Tomi. The “grandfather” of transformers can be considered the Japanese company Microman, which at the Tokyo Toy Fair back in 1983 presented a line of toy robots capable of transforming into various technical objects. There, the head of Hasbro, George Dunsay, was inspired by the new idea. After the fair, wide production of Transformers in significantly expanded versions began in the United States. After children fell in love with the unusual toys, cartoons and drawn pictures were used (the characters were invented in just a few days by the editor of Marvel comics magazine Bob Budiansky). In early versions, toy robots were more human-like, both in appearance and in character, but later American designers leaned towards more technological versions of cartoon and comic book characters.

Marketing policy for promoting history transforming robots turned out to be so successful that unusual toys captivated children all over the world, they knew about them even in the conservative former USSR. To this day, children and grown-up children watch cartoons about robots and collect collections of transformers.
