short biography

Regular boy games, ordinary conversations with friends, ordinary family gatherings - Robbie Williams' childhood was quite ordinary for a British boy. He was born on February 13, 1974 in the beautiful English city of Stoke-on-Trent.

Rob - common child Teresa and Peter Williams. In addition to him, the family grew up with a girl, Sally, a child from her father’s first marriage. While the children were playing and exploring the world, the parents were developing their own pub. Three years after Robbie was born, the marriage broke up. Teresa began raising the children alone, and Peter took the pseudonym Pete Conway and decided to make a career as a comedian.

It is unknown whether genes or constant meetings with his comedian father influenced the development of the boy’s sense of humor, but at school he was known as a clown. He was also lazy and a loser. But this did not stop Robbie from participating in theatrical productions on the school stage, singing songs on the guitar and captivating the hearts of those around him with his charm. In addition, in musicals he often got leading roles. If you look at childhood photographs of this British singer, what immediately catches your eye is his trademark slightly askew smile and cheerfulness - he was charismatic from a young age. No wonder people came to school plays just for him.

Robbie's school life ended with failure in exams and... joining the new boy group "Take that". Just the day 16-year-old Rob left the walls educational institution, his mother came across an advertisement for recruitment into a boy band. Teresa, without doubting her son’s talent, invited him to try his hand at it. He took her advice and was right: his audition impressed the members of the new group. Ahead lay 5 years of success as part of “Take that”, recognized as one of the most successful British teams.

Tours, constant concerts, awards, crowds of fans - this is what the life of an attractive young man consisted of in the early 90s. Participation in the boy band turned out to be more than just popularity for Robbie Williams. He became addicted to alcohol and drugs. The young man understood what this meant, but he didn’t care. Even persuasion did not help the intractable guy Elton John , who has already experienced all the harmfulness of the habit. But the musician turned to rehabilitation only in the late 90s, and in the new millennium he will still have to undergo treatment for addiction with antidepressants. In the meantime, the charming Briton is enjoying life and basking in the love of fans.

But, as often happens, the well-coordinated team begins to disintegrate. This happened with “Take that”. After 5 years of working together, disagreements arose. And if someone in the group tried not to talk about it, then Rob decided to rebel. He dyed his hair, started fooling around and eventually left the group in 1995, admitting that it was a real prison for him. Why? All work came down to rules and obligations that pressed on him.

Robbie Williams is out for a year musical world. Fans have a very ambivalent attitude towards him; in addition, problems arose with violating the terms of the contract concluded with “Take that” - in general, the popular Briton had no time for music. Having dealt with all the legal issues, he began his solo career and in the summer of 1996 he released a cover version of George Michael's song “Freedom-90”. The public did not accept this single, nor the subsequent one.

Robbie was not going to give up and at the end of 1997 he recorded the song “Angels”. The touching and tender track not only conquered the British charts, where it was on the chart for 27 weeks, but also became a national hit. It was with this single that the real popularity and demand of Robbie Williams as a solo singer began.

The musician's fame grew. In the UK, sales of his albums and singles reach record levels. In 1998, Robbie was even recognized as the best-selling singer. But besides Europe, there is also America. To conquer it, the artist records the album “The Ego Has Landed” - a compilation from two previous collections. But the American public reacted coolly to the appearance of the British singer on their soil. But the British couldn't wait for the release of his next single and album. The musician tried not to disappoint them and released new hits.

In 2006 - 2007, Robbie slowed down. He actively took care of his health, which was failing. The abuse of various substances and personal problems affected. After refusing bad habits, a confirmed bachelor decided to surprise the public with a wedding. In 2010, he married American actress Ida Field. The pop musician found true family happiness a little later: in 2012 they became the parents of a charming girl, and in 2014 - a boy.

Happy, matured and popular, Robbie Williams admits that his children have changed his attitude towards life. He is ready to sing their praises and admire their every move. But the performer does not forget about music. A crowd of millions of fans are waiting for his performances and new hits. It's not Robbie's style to disappoint them. Therefore, he continues to sing and does not intend to stop there.

When Robbie was three years old, his parents divorced. He stayed to live with his mother. The boy studied at primary school Mill Hill and then at St. High School. Name of Saint Margaret. He studied poorly, was lazy and the first clown in the class, but he had artistic talent, danced and sang well.

During the summer holidays, he spent a lot of time with his father, who shared his experience in comedy acting with him. In addition, Robbie played in school football team, but did not succeed.

Take That

After graduating from school in 1990, Robbie worked for some time as a double-glazed window salesman. Fortunately, he listened to his mother's advice and signed up to audition for a boy pop group.

At the casting, he performed the song “Nothing Can Divide Us” by Jason Donovan in front of the producers and, to his surprise, became one of the five members of the boy band called Take That. Robbie was given the role of the impudent one. Together with Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, Mark Owen and Jason Orange, he recorded three highly successful albums: Take that and party, Everything changes and Nobody else.

Take That – I found heaven

In July 1995, after a weekend with Noel and Liam Gallagher at the Glastonbury Festival, Robbie announced that he wanted to leave the band: “People looked at me like I was a pimple on my back! And it's all because I'm a member of Take That." In the documentary Take That: Look Back, Don't Stare, released in 2010, Robbie said that the main reason for his departure from the band was the competition with Gary Barlow that crossed all boundaries (he dedicated one of his first solo songs, “Ego,” to his opponent a Go Go"). There is also a widespread version that the rest of the group gave Robbie an ultimatum: either he quits alcohol and drugs, or leaves.

After the trial with the BMG label, Robbie began solo career. In 1996, shortly after Robbie Williams announced his departure, the group disbanded. Other members of Take That also set off on their own, but only he managed to surpass his previous success. In 2006, the boy band reunited without Robbie, although in 2010 he took part in the recording of their album “Progress”. The reunion turned out to be short - in the summer of 2011 the singer finally left the group.

Solo career

In 1996, Williams signed a contract with Chrysalis Records and released his first solo single, Freedom, a cover version of a George Michael song. In March, the singer, in collaboration with composer Guy Chambers, began recording his first album, Life Thru a Lens, which was released in September of the same year and started at number one on the UK Album Chart. The single "Angels" created a sensation and sold over a million copies in Britain alone. Sales of the singles "Old Before I Die", "Lazy Days" and "South of the Border" were slightly less high.

At the beginning of 1998, Robbie began work on his second album, “I"ve Been Expecting You.” The first single of the album, Millenium, became very popular in Europe, selling more than 400 thousand copies. Soon after the album’s release in October 1998, the singer signed a contract with an American company Capitol Records and released a collection of songs, “The Ego Has Landed,” intended for the American market. The album was received lukewarmly, ranking only 63rd on the US Billboard Albums chart.

The next album, “Sing When You"re Winning” in 2000, turned out to be more successful. The single “Rock DJ” became one of the best-selling in the UK and was nominated for many prestigious awards: MTV Europe Music Awards, BRIT Awards, Best Single of the Year. In the history of music, only Michael Jackson was offered a more lucrative contract in 1991. He bought a house in Los Angeles and began conquering the American music market.

The benefits of popularity were overshadowed by bouts of depression and self-doubt, although it would seem where they could have come from for an iconic figure of the British pop scene.

Cleansed from bad habits, Robbie began to improve his life: he had a girlfriend with whom everything was serious - in an interview he called her his wife and admitted that they changed his life. Together they moved to England, and in 2009 Williams made a triumphant comeback to the scene with the album Really Killed the Video Star, followed by two greatest hits albums. I got into the last one and new song"Shame" featuring Gary Barlow.

It is believed that Williams' song was inspired by Roman Abramovich's corporate event, where he performed in 2014.

Personal life of Robbie Williams

During the heyday of Take That and thanks to the ambiguous lyrics of the songs, Robbie's image of a gay representative was established. And the singer only fueled interest in himself with jokes on this topic. In fact, Robbie is also a connoisseur of female charms, so during the Take That era he was terribly annoyed by the contract clause prohibiting the boy band members from entering into relationships. After leaving the group, he began dating the daughter of a dentist, Jacqueline Hamilton-Smith. Soon he proposed to her, but in 1996 the couple broke up.

Then the singer seemed to break loose: a short affair with actress Anna Friel, engagement to Canadian TV presenter Nicole Appleton, affairs with Irish singer Andrea Corr, Danish model Tanya Strecker, actress Victoria Schweiser, model Rachel Hunt.

In 2004, Robbie Williams became interested in actress Nicole Kidman, with whom he recorded the single “Somethin’ Stupid” back in 2001. However, nothing serious came of it - the same year the handsome man was caught having an affair with actress Valerie Cruz.

Greetings to all, Gossip Girls and Gossips. I adore Robbie and think he is a talented singer, slightly underrated in the US and his native Britain. Although Robbie's high-profile departure from Take That was widely reported, his first solo single failed to reach number one. Williams had to settle for a respectable second place. All because she was in first place then a new group Spice Girls.

The group formed in 1989 in Manchester and Robbie was the youngest of them all. 4. His father is comedian Pete Conway Robbie's father was a singer and comedian for 4 seasons. Despite the fact that this song became a hit, almost no one noticed that the music was borrowed from Barry White's 1977 "It"s Ecstasy When You Lay Down Next To Me", albeit heavily transformed and modernized.
7. Signed a £80 million solo deal in 2002. In 2002, Robbie signed one of the most lucrative contracts in recording history. The contract was awarded to EMI for £80 million. He famously celebrated the signing of the deal, declaring at a press conference in London: “I am richer than I could have ever imagined in my wildest dreams!”

Over the course of three evenings, Robbie performed in front of an audience of 125 thousand people in one evening. Almost 3.5 million people watched this concert on TV and online, and a live album and DVD were also released. Thus, Love Robbie has the opportunity to stand on the same level with such music legends as Queen, Oasis and Led Zeppelin, who also performed at this famous venue.
9. Dated Cam Diaz, Anna Friel, Nicole Appleton and Tara Palmer Tompkins. We all know that Robbie is now an exemplary family man and a happy father, but no one doubts that he is a womanizer and a breaker of women’s hearts, we hope in the past. Middle name and name given at confirmation. Middle name Robbie Peter, after his father. Maximilian was the name given to him at his confirmation in the Catholic Church as a child.
14. Only one single reached the top of the British chart. Surprising but true! Robbie's only single that conquered Britain and became a number one was "Millennium". The famous "Angels" only managed to reach number 4 on the charts in December 1997.

A kind character, good-looking appearance and immense love for his own fans are the main personality traits of Williams that attract the public so much.

Childhood and youth

Young Mr. Williams early years He loved to fool around, so his studies were not going well. First in junior school, and then in high school he gained a reputation as a “mediocre” and lazy, and the desire to once again please a girl from his class prompted the guy to take risks and get involved in problematic situations. It was difficult for Robbie's mother to cope with the child's rebellious nature, but teenagers rarely pay attention to such nuances.

Music

Robbie gained his first acting experience while auditioning for a local musical group called “Take That”. The lineup held auditions in hopes of finding a fifth member, and, to the guy’s great surprise, after performing the song “Nothing Can Divide Us” by Jason Donovan, he was accepted into the Take That group.

Robbie Williams and Take That

Over the next five years, Robbie was listed in this musical group and performed with four other guys in city pubs. “Take That” initially re-covered famous hits, but already in 1991 the guys released their first album, which not only gained popularity, but became a passport to the world of show business.

For several years in a row, the album “Take That and Party” was considered one of the best in the history of the UK music business. A couple of years later, a second collection of hits from the group called “Everything Change” was released. Repeated success turned the heads of the guys from Take That so much that in 1994 they decided to tour the country and perform live.

Numerous concerts, crowds of fans and public recognition were incredibly captivating and captivating, but after the release of his third album, Robbie wanted change.

Every musician dreams of performing solo, but for Mr. Williams there was one detail he couldn't ignore after breaking up with his former colleagues. According to the terms of his contract with BMG, Robbie could not engage in solo career, if he decides to leave the group. For several years, the guy sued representatives of the company, and at that time depression led the musician down a crooked path - he began to use alcohol and drugs.

After the completion of the litigation, the musician released his first solo song, which is a cover of his work. After that, Robbie recorded the first solo album, whose songs did not attract the attention of the audience, but success came immediately after creating a hit called “Angels”.

Robbie Williams - "Angels"

Not every musician or actor manages to achieve the same success in their career as Robbie Williams did. His song “Angels,” when released, became a hit and earned him the title of “Best Hit of the Last 25 Years.”

Having conquered Europe and home country, Williams did not want to stop there, and already in 1999, immediately after signing a contract with the American company Capitol Records, Robbie was creating his first album aimed at potential fans from the USA.

Robbie Williams - "Millennium"

“The Ego Has Lended” only took 63rd place on the American charts upon release, which could be called a complete failure. The next attempt a year later brought more success, and the song “Rock Dj” (“Rock DJ”) won many international awards at popular festivals, after which the musician’s career took off again.

For his numerous services to British show business, Robbie received another BRIT Awards, which forever immortalized the hero’s name in the annals musical history Great Britain and the whole world.

Russia has always attracted the attention of foreign show business stars, and Robbie was no exception. While on tour in Moscow in 2015, the artist appeared in the studio at a comedy show, where he performed a number of songs together with his musicians.

In 2016, a new project by the musician and singer called “Party Like A Russian” was released, in which Williams performed in the guise of a sort of modern. The main purpose of the single was to make fun of behavior Russian oligarchs, who “buy cars and transport them on their planes.”

Moreover, not only in the Russian Federation this topic disturbs the minds and souls of ordinary people. Perhaps Robbie wanted not only to release another musical project, but also to draw the attention of those in power to the problems ordinary people and compare their current pitiful situation.

Others believe that the singer wanted to attract fading attention to himself with such a topic. By the way, after the release of “Party Like A Russian”, Robbie’s activities were again noticed in the Russian segment of show business. The musician was invited to a conversation by the popular TV presenter of the “Let Them Talk” program. The recording of the broadcast took place in London, where Williams and Malakhov talked on various topics. During a short romance, the singer became pregnant, but after deliberation the girl had an abortion. As she herself told reporters, such a decision was dictated by the terms of cooperation with the group’s investors. After a short period of time, Robbie and Nicole broke up.

After such a failure, the singer started a relationship with famous girls Geri Halliwell (“Spice Girls”) and . But these affairs with women ended too quickly, and the artist’s personal life did not work out. Then Robbie decided to use a different dating method.

In the late 90s, dating via the Internet was just gaining popularity, but this is how the singer met his future wife, a Turkish actress. In the period from 2007 to 2010, the lovers met, after which both decided that it was time to legalize the relationship. In union with Aida, the musician had a daughter in 2012, whom her parents named Theodora Rose. Two years later, the wife gave Robbie an heir - a son, Charlton Valentine. Now the singer lives with his wife and children in a mansion in Los Angeles.

According to Robbie himself, Ida helps him in everything and has a positive influence on his rebellious character. Before meeting the girl, the man smoked 3 packs of cigarettes a day, drank a lot of energy drinks and ruined his own body, but Aida became the person who finally changed his life.

“I quit drinking and smoking, and all this thanks to my charming Aida. I finally felt in my place; it was destined for us to meet. And I am immensely happy."

- states the happy father and husband to all the paparazzi who are trying to find out whether the husband is faithful to his current wife.

Robbie Williams's official profile "Instagram" dedicated to his work, but the artist sometimes places there family photos. He often appears bare-chested in front of the camera, showing off his athletic figure and his favorite tattoos. Williams has about 20 images on his body, the first of which – a Celtic cross on his right thigh – appeared at the dawn of his musical career. Then tattoos in the form of a lion and inscriptions in the language of the New Zealand Maori tribe were embossed.

Over time, the first letters of my grandparents' initials appeared on my neck and wrists. Also on the neck appeared the symbol of the “eye of the god Horus”. As a tribute to his mother, the artist engraved on his hands the inscription in the Gothic style “Mom, I love you.” The singer has shown himself to be a devotee of images in the form of inscriptions. They adorn him everywhere: under his collarbone, on his lower back, on his fingers, and on his stomach Robbie depicted a swallow in flight.

Robbie Williams now

Robbie Williams was a guest star at the opening of the 2018 World Cup. At the ceremony, the star spoke in front of an 80,000-strong audience at the Luzhniki Stadium and a multi-million army of football fans. In the government box were the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, and the head of FIFA. The artist himself was happy to participate in the opening of the World Cup, calling such a performance “a childhood dream come true.” A Russian opera diva appeared on stage together with the British singer.

Robbie Williams, in a creative burst before the end of the song “Rock DJ,” showed his middle finger at the camera, while singing the words: “I did it for free,” which are not included in the main lyrics of the song. Later, the artist himself, in the “This Morning” program on the British television channel ITV, explained this gesture by saying that there was one minute left before the match between the Russian and Saudi Arabian national teams. Robbie was worried that he wouldn't have time to finish the song and started counting down the seconds. Robbie realized that the gesture was provocative some time later, when he had already left the stage.

Childhood
His parents, Teresa and Peter Williams, owned a pub near the Port Vale football ground. They divorced when Robbie was only 3 years old, he and his sister stayed to live with their mother.

At school, Robbie became famous as a clown and a lazy person, but had a natural talent for dancing and singing. The guy’s mother was able to discern talents in her son, and with her light hand Roby stood on Star Trek. It was she who saw the announcement of a casting for a new boy band and invited her son to try himself.

Star Trek
At the age of 16, Robbie joined the group Take That. The project turned out to be very successful; for five years the group dominated the English charts. At the Smash Hits Awards ceremony, the team collected 7 prizes, including the award for best Brit single. In terms of polarity, the guys could rightfully compare with their compatriots The Beatles.

But soon disagreements began within the group. Robbie did not hide his reluctance to sing in a group. He behaved as he did during his hooligan childhood: he was lazy, changed his image without discussing with producers, fought and swore. In 1995, Robbie officially left Take That. However, it was one of the most difficult periods in his life. Unclear future prospects and a violation of the contract with Take That provoked depression. In addition, Robbie was hit by a wave of dislike from loyal Take That fans. He had to once again win the favor of the capricious public. In fact, start all over again.

The singer began to have problems with alcohol and drugs. The singer was in a depressive seclusion for about a year. However, in 1997, Robbie released the single Angeles, which instantly rose to the top of the charts. In 1998, the artist was recognized as the best-selling singer in Great Britain.

The triumph of his musical career was his performance at the British Nebworth festival in August 2003, where he attracted more than 375,000 spectators. In 2009, Robbie returned to Take That, and already in 2010 he released a record. And critics, listeners, and handsome young ladies all over the world are ready to once again admire the bully Robbie. In October 2011, he launched the Rudebox Radio project, in which Robbie himself became the host. In 2012, Williams announced that his new album and will be called Take The Crown.

Personal life
Since the beginning of his music career, Robbie has always been in the spotlight due to his personal life. The lyrics of Take That's songs were ambiguous and constantly suggested the performers' non-traditional sexual orientation. Robbie often laughed off the accusations against him, but this further cemented the opinion of his homosexuality. It was rumored that the artist’s producers even told Robbie to get involved in a serious relationship (and especially marriage) so as not to weed out his loyal gay fans. Either Williams came to his senses and began to obey his superiors, or he himself liked to have affairs without obligations.

In 1998, the singer got tired of provocative articles in the press and started a wild affair with All Saints vocalist Nicole Appleton.

And in 2006, Robbie went on a blind date, where he met actress Aide Field. In 2009, the singer proposed live on the radio. Oh, it wasn't easy for the poor girl when Robbie said it was a joke. Just for the show's ratings! The press laughed at the would-be bride. Trusting such a brawler and womanizer was truly stupid. But apparently, the offended girl managed to take the bull by the horns. It is unknown what kind of scandal she threw at Robbie for a bad joke, but the wedding did take place. In August 2010, the couple got married, the celebration cost the guilty Robbie $12 million. On September 3, 2012, they had a child - a girl named Theodora.
