Contents of chapter 1 Eugene Onegin. Evgeny Onegin briefly

At the age of six, the boy read about how a boa constrictor swallows its prey, and drew a snake swallowing an elephant. It was a drawing of a boa constrictor on the outside, but the adults said it was a hat. Adults always need to explain everything, so the boy made another drawing - a boa constrictor from the inside. Then the adults advised the boy to give up this nonsense - according to them, he should have studied more geography, history, arithmetic and law. So the boy refused brilliant career artist He had to choose a different profession: he grew up and became a pilot, but still showed his first drawing to those adults who seemed to him smarter and more understanding than the others - and everyone answered that it was a hat. It was impossible to talk heart to heart with them - about boa constrictors, jungles and stars. And the pilot lived alone until he met the Little Prince.

This happened in the Sahara. Something broke in the plane's engine: the pilot had to fix it or die, because there was only enough water left for a week. At dawn, the pilot was awakened by a thin voice - a tiny baby with golden hair, who somehow ended up in the desert, asked to draw a lamb for him. The astonished pilot did not dare refuse, especially since he new friend He turned out to be the only one who managed to see in the first drawing a boa constrictor that had swallowed an elephant. It gradually became clear that the Little Prince had flown from a planet called “asteroid B-612” - of course, the number is only necessary for boring adults who adore numbers.

The whole planet was the size of a house, and the Little Prince had to take care of it: every day he cleaned three volcanoes - two active and one extinct, and also felled baobab sprouts . The pilot did not immediately understand what danger the baobabs posed, but then he realized and, in order to warn all the children, he drew a planet where there lived a lazy person who did not weed out three bushes on time. But the Little Prince always put his planet in order. But his life was sad and lonely, so he loved to watch the sunset - especially when he was sad. He did this several times a day, simply moving the chair after the sun. Everything changed when a wonderful flower appeared on his planet: it was a beauty with thorns - proud, touchy and simply soulful. The little prince fell in love with her, but she seemed capricious, cruel and arrogant to him - he was too young then and did not understand how this flower illuminated his life. And so the Little Prince read in last time his volcanoes, tore out the baobab sprouts, and then said goodbye to his flower, who only at the moment of farewell admitted that he loved him.

He went on a journey and visited six neighboring asteroids. The king lived on the first one: he so wanted to have subjects that he invited the Little Prince to become a mini-star, and the little one thought that adults were a very strange people. On the second planet lived an ambitious man, on the third a drunkard, on the fourth a business man, and on the fifth a lamplighter. All the adults seemed extremely strange to the Little Prince, and he only liked the Lamplighter: this man remained faithful to his agreement to light the lanterns in the evenings and turn them off in the mornings, although his planet is so decreased that day and night changed every minute. Don't have so little space here. The little prince would have stayed with the Lamplighter, because he really wanted to make friends with someone - besides, on this planet you could admire the sunset one thousand four hundred and forty times a day!

On the sixth planet there lived a geographer. And since he was a geographer, he was supposed to ask travelers about the countries from which they came in order to record their stories in books. The little prince wanted to talk about his flower, but the geographer explained that only mountains and oceans are recorded in books, because they are eternal and unchanging, and flowers do not live long. Only then did the Little Prince realize that his beauty would soon disappear, and he left her alone, without protection and help! But the resentment had not yet passed, and the Little Prince moved on, but he only thought about his abandoned flower.

The seventh was the Earth - a very difficult planet! It is enough to say that there are one hundred and eleven kings, seven thousand geographers, nine hundred thousand businessmen, seven and a half million drunkards, three hundred and eleven million ambitious people - a total of about two billion adults. But the Little Prince made friends only with the snake, the Fox and the pilot. The snake promised to help him when he bitterly regretted his planet. And the Fox taught him to be friends. Anyone can tame someone and become their friend, but you always need to be responsible for those you have tamed. And the Fox also said that only the heart is vigilant - you cannot see the most important thing with your eyes. Then the Little Prince decided to return to his rose, because he was responsible for it. He went into the desert - to the very place where he fell. That’s how he and the pilot got to know each other. The pilot drew him a lamb in a box and even a muzzle for the lamb, although he previously thought that he could only draw boa constrictors - outside and inside. The little prince was happy, but the pilot became sad - he realized that he, too, had been tamed. Then the Little Prince found a yellow snake, whose bite kills in half a minute: she helped him, as she promised. The snake can return anyone to where he came from - she returns people to the earth, and returned the Little Prince to the stars. The kid told the pilot that it would only look like death, so there is no need to be sad - let the pilot remember it while looking at the night sky. And when the Little Prince laughs, it will seem to the pilot that all the stars are laughing, like five hundred million bells.

The pilot repaired his plane, and his comrades were happy about his return. Six years have passed since then: little by little he was comforted and fell in love with looking at the stars. But he is always overcome with excitement: he forgot to draw a strap for the muzzle, and the lamb could eat the rose. Then it seems to him that all the bells are crying. After all, if the rose is no longer in the world, everything will become different, but no adult will ever understand how important this is.

At six years old in the book " True stories“The author saw an image of a boa constrictor swallowing a wild animal, after which he drew his first ever drawing, which adults mistook for a hat. The boy tried to explain to them their mistake by depicting an elephant inside a snake in the second picture. The adults advised us not to draw elephants or snakes, but to do more natural science. The boy grew up and instead of an artist became a pilot. For a long time he tried to find among adults those who would understand him, but in vain.

Six years ago, after making an emergency landing in the Sahara, the author met little man, who asked me to draw him a lamb. He warned the kid that he couldn’t draw and offered him a picture of a “hat.” The strange stranger immediately recognized the elephant in the boa constrictor, found them too dangerous and large, and again asked the author to depict him a small lamb. The pilot made drawings several times, but the baby was not happy with them. Then he drew a box on paper and said that in it sat exactly the lamb that the child needed.

On the third day of acquaintance, the author learned from The Little Prince about the tragedy with the baobabs, whose sprouts must be pulled out as soon as they begin to differ from the sprouts of rose bushes, otherwise huge trees will grow and tear apart the planet. On the fourth morning, the kid told the pilot about his favorite pastime - admiring sunsets. On the fifth day, the author brought the Little Prince to tears when he said in a conversation the first thing that came to his mind about flower thorns. The kid was afraid that the lamb would eat his favorite flower, even despite the sharp thorns.

The flowers on the planet of the Little Prince were tiny. They opened in the morning and withered in the evening. But one day a new, unknown sprout appeared from the ground, which took a long time to preen and turned into a beautiful Rose. The beauty turned out to be proud and capricious. The little prince was angry at her words and did not immediately understand that he had to love Rose for her wonderful aroma.

Before the trip, he thoroughly cleaned his planet: he cleaned two active ones and one dormant volcano. Rose confessed her love to the Little Prince and asked for forgiveness for her stupidity.

On the first asteroid, the baby met with a reasonable king, who understood that one cannot demand from his subjects what they cannot fulfill. The second planet brought the Little Prince an acquaintance with an ambitious man who saw in him an enthusiastic admirer. On the third planet, the hero met a drunkard who was drinking wine because he was ashamed... to drink. The fourth asteroid turned out to be a habitat business man, who was so busy adding numbers that he did not immediately remember what he was adding. He called himself the owner of the stars, but could not explain to the Little Prince how this would benefit him and the stars themselves. On the fifth, the smallest of all the planets, the traveler met a lamplighter who did nothing but light and extinguish the lantern. The sixth asteroid was ten times larger than the fifth. An old geographer who lived on it wrote thick books and invited the Little Prince to visit the Earth.

The Earth turned out to be an amazing planet inhabited a huge amount kings, ambitious people, drunkards, businessmen and lamplighters - total number two billion adults. The snake was the first to meet the Little Prince. She told him that people do not live in deserts, and told him about her power. The snake wanted to kill the traveler, but abandoned this idea, realizing that he was pure in heart.

While crossing the desert, the Little Prince met one inconspicuous flower, who shared with him his memories of the people who passed by him as part of the caravan. Climbing on high mountain, the hero saw nothing but sharp rocks, from which his greeting to the people echoed. The road found during his wanderings led the Little Prince to a garden where five thousand roses bloomed. The traveler was terribly upset when he learned that his flower was just one of many. When he lay down in the grass and cried, the Fox appeared in front of him.

The little prince asked the animal to play with him, but it refused. The fox said that first the baby must tame him, and then for him he will be the only little boy in the whole world. Complaining about boredom wild animal explained to the child how best to establish a relationship with him: come at the same time, each time sitting closer and closer.

When the Fox was tamed, the Little Prince got ready to go on the road again. He said goodbye to the garden roses, telling them that they were nothing to him, since he had never cared for them. At parting, the Fox gave the Little Prince a gift: he told the most main secret, for a long time forgotten by people that “Only the heart is vigilant” and man “forever responsible for everyone he tamed”.

The switchman he met told the hero about how people travel: not knowing what they are looking for, in a state of boredom or sleep. “Only children press their noses to the windows.”. A pill salesman said that using thirst-quenching pills you can save fifty-three minutes of time in a week. Having finished his last sip of water, the pilot interrupted the Little Prince’s story, saying that he would have to die. For a long time the kid could not understand why at such a moment the author did not want to think about the Fox, but then he said that he was also thirsty and suggested that they go to the spring together. At the rest stop, the child fell asleep. The author took him in his arms and moved on.

At dawn the pilot went to the well. The little prince asked for water. Judging by how reluctantly the kid answered his questions, the author realized that he had been on Earth for a year and decided to return to his home planet. The next evening, the pilot overheard a conversation between the Little Prince and a snake, which promised to kill the child with poison. As a farewell, the boy gave the author his laughter, giving the ability to laugh to all the stars in the sky. He took with him the memory of the well.

For six years the pilot did not tell anyone about this meeting, but he did not stop looking at the sky and thinking about what was happening to the Little Prince, Rose and the lamb, for whose muzzle he forgot to add a strap.

Idea: true values in life: care, loyalty, friendship, responsibility, love.

Issues. Misunderstanding between children and adults.

Main characters: pilot, little prince.

Plot. A six-year-old boy learned from a book that a boa constrictor swallows its prey. The result was a drawing of a snake swallowing an elephant. To all adults this image seemed like a hat. An attempt to draw a boa constrictor from the inside also did not meet with understanding. The adults advised us to do something serious instead of this nonsense. school subjects. Thus, the artist’s future was closed for the boy. Over time, he mastered the serious profession of a pilot, but continued to demonstrate his mysterious drawing to more reasonable, in his opinion, adults. The answer was traditional: it's a hat. Was it possible to have intimate conversations with them? So the pilot was lonely before meeting the Little Prince.

The meeting took place in the Sahara Desert. The plane's engine failed, the malfunction had to be fixed urgently, otherwise the pilot would die: the water supply could only be extended for a week. The pilot woke up at dawn because someone was speaking in a thin childish voice. It was golden hair a little boy, somehow ended up in the desert. He needed a drawn lamb, and the kid asked the pilot for it. He fulfilled his request, because this child saw a boa constrictor in the “hat”. This is how the pilot met the Little Prince, who had flown from a very small planet, or rather, from an asteroid.

The planet's largest size was not more home. The Little Prince looked after her very diligently. He had to clean volcanoes: one of them was extinct, and two were active. In addition, the Little Prince pulled out sprouted baobab trees. This was very important for the planet. The Little Prince lived a sad and lonely life. His only entertainment was watching the sunset. But one day his planet seemed to be illuminated by a wonderful flower - a beautiful rose with thorns. And the life of the Little Prince changed. He fell in love with this proud beauty, but it seemed to him that she was cruel, picky and arrogant. And she was simply naive and vulnerable. The little prince was too young to understand this. He still did not understand what happiness this rose brought into his life. And the Little Prince decided to set off on a journey. Finally, he cleaned out the volcanoes, rid the planet of sprouted baobab trees and said goodbye to his rose, which only told the Little Prince about her love when parting.

On his journey, he first visited nearby asteroids. On one lived a king eager to rule. Another asteroid was the abode of an ambitious man, a drunkard settled on the third, and a businessman settled on the fourth. The little prince liked the inhabitant of the fifth asteroid, unlike the adults from other asteroids. It was a lamplighter. He lit the lanterns as evening fell and extinguished them when morning dawn, although his planet was so small that day gave way to night in a minute. But the lamplighter was faithful to the agreement and tirelessly fulfilled his duty.

The sixth asteroid was occupied by a geographer, he was interested in the stories of travelers. The little prince began to talk about his rose, but the geographer said that he was not interested in flowers because they did not live long. And the Little Prince suddenly realized that his beloved rose would soon be gone, and she was left alone, helpless and defenseless. However, the Jew still felt resentment toward him, and the Little Prince continued on his way, but now he was haunted by thoughts about the abandoned flower.

And here he is on Earth. And how difficult everything is here! This planet is full of kings, geographers, businessmen, drunkards and ambitious people. They all make up billions of adults. The only friends of the Little Prince were the snake, the fox and the pilot. If the prince yearns for his asteroid, the snake will help him out, so she promised. And the fox was very smart. The fox knew about friendship: if you tamed someone, then you are now his friend, but now you are responsible for the tamed one. And he also knew that not everything is accessible to the eyes; the main thing is discerned only by the heart. And the Little Prince decided to return to his asteroid, to the rose for which he was responsible. It was necessary to set off from the same place in the desert where he fell.

Here the kid met the pilot, who made him a drawing of a lamb hidden in a box, and also drew a muzzle for him. The little prince was happy, and then the snake returned him to the stars. He reassured the pilot that from the outside it only looked like death, there was no need to be sad. It's better to let him watch at night starry sky and remembers him. The laughter of the Little Prince will resonate for the pilot with the laughter of the stars - many bells.

The pilot managed to repair the plane and returned to his comrades. Six years passed and he stopped grieving. He also loved looking at the stars at night. But he was always worried that he didn't complete the design with a muzzle strap. As if the lamb ate the flower... Then the pilot imagined the cry of bells. If the rose dies, then everything will change. Can adults understand this?

Review of the work. The tale is amazing. It affects adults more than children; it makes them remember the worldview of childhood and the real values of life.

“The Little Prince,” a chapter-by-chapter retelling of Exupery’s story, can be read in 20 minutes.

"The Little Prince" summary by chapter

When the narrator was six years old, he saw a picture in a book of a boa constrictor swallowing beast of prey. The boy thought about it and drew something very reminiscent of a hat. This was drawing #1.

Aren't you scared? - asked the boy.

Is the hat scary? - they asked him in response.

But it was not a hat at all, but a boa constrictor that swallowed an elephant.

Drawing No. 2 depicted a boa constrictor from the inside.

“Adults never understand anything themselves, and for children it is very tiring to endlessly explain and explain everything to them.”

So the narrator “gave up his career as an artist” and trained to be a pilot. He flew around almost the whole world and met many adults. If one of the adults seemed to him more understanding than others, he showed him his drawing No. 1. “But they all answered: “This is a hat.” And the pilot “no longer talked to them about boa constrictors, or about the jungle, or about the stars.”
2
One day the narrator had to make an emergency landing in the Sahara. There was only one pilot: no passengers, no mechanic. He decided to fix the plane himself, because otherwise he would have died.

“There was no habitation for thousands of miles around.” However, at dawn the narrator was “awakened by someone’s thin voice.”

"He said:

Please draw me a lamb.

Draw me a lamb...

I jumped up as if thunder had struck above me. I rubbed my eyes.”

Instead of a description, the author paints us a portrait of an unusual, serious kid. It didn't look like he was lost at all. Making the excuse of not being able to draw, the pilot draws a “boa constrictor from the outside.” And the boy immediately guesses that it is a boa constrictor that swallowed an elephant! Only at the baby’s house everything is very small. He doesn't need a boa constrictor that is too dangerous or an elephant that is too big. The kid doesn’t like the lambs that the pilot draws either: one is too frail, the other is too big, the third is too old. Then, having lost patience, the pilot simply draws a box with holes.

And the boy sees in the box just the right lamb:

Check this out! He fell asleep...
3, 4
A boy looks at a plane:

So you fell from the sky too?

In the conversation, it turns out that the baby’s planet itself is very small: “If you go straight and straight, you won’t get far...” For adults who love numbers, it is reported that the planet is called “asteroid B-612”

“But we, those who understand what life is, we, of course, laugh at numbers and numbers!”

5
The kid doesn’t talk about his planet all in a row, but when necessary. For example, it turns out that the planet is plagued by harmful baobab seeds. These are trees so big that they can tear the planet apart. If only the lamb ate baobabs when they just begin to grow!

There is such a firm rule,” the Little Prince told me afterwards. - You got up in the morning, washed your face, put yourself in order - and immediately put your planet in order... If you give free rein to the baobabs, trouble will not be avoided.

The narrator draws a picture of a small planet being torn apart by scary trees. He wants to convey to everyone “that this is terribly important and urgent.”
6
“Oh Little Prince! Little by little I realized how sad and monotonous your life was. For a long time you had only one entertainment - to admire the sunset."

On a small planet, you just need to move your chair a few steps - and you don’t have to wait for the sun to start sinking below the horizon. When you are very sad, it is good to watch the sun go down. Once in one day the kid saw the sunset forty-three times. Can you imagine how sad he was?
7
Thanks to the lamb, the narrator learned the secret of the Little Prince. The boy asked why flowers need thorns. After all, lambs eat all flowers - even those with thorns?

The pilot tries to unscrew a naughty nut on his plane and answers with the first thing that comes to mind:

Flowers produce thorns simply out of anger.

I don't believe you! The flowers are weak. And simple-minded. And they try to give themselves courage. They think if they have thorns, everyone is afraid of them.

The pilot doesn't want to think about it. He has no time. He is busy with serious business.

Seriously? - the prince was seriously angry.

And he talks about one planet where “a man with a purple face” lived. He was busy with “serious business”: adding up numbers. And he was literally swelling with pride. “But in fact he is not a person. He's a mushroom."

The fact that lambs and flowers fight with each other is much more important than all the numbers in the world.

If you love a flower, it is the only one that is no longer on any of the many millions of stars... So: if a lamb eats it, it’s the same as if all the stars went out at once!

The boy burst into tears. And the pilot, forgetting about the naughty nut, cradles him and promises to make a muzzle for the lamb, draw armor for the flower... “How to call him so that he can hear, how to catch up with his soul, which is eluding me? After all, it is so mysterious and unknown, this country of tears...”
8
On the planet of the Little Prince, only simple, modest flowers have always grown. And suddenly a huge bud appeared on an unknown sprout (the kid was alarmed: what if this was a new variety of baobab?). The unknown guest kept preening. Dressed up, trying on petals. One morning these petals opened.

Oh, I’m completely disheveled... - said the beauty.

The little prince could not contain his delight:

How beautiful you are!

Yes its true? And note, I was born with the sun...

The beauty did not suffer from an excess of modesty, she was proud and touchy, capricious and demanding. She said that with her four thorns she was not afraid of tigers, and immediately demanded that a screen be installed against drafts and covered with a cap against the evening cool.

The prince took her words too seriously. He got angry and decided to leave the planet. Now he regrets it:

You just had to look at the rose and enjoy its scent. You should never listen to what the flowers say! But I was too young then, I didn’t know how to love...
9
The little prince was about to fly away with the migratory birds. He tidied up his planet more thoroughly than usual, cleaned out the small volcanoes on which it was so convenient to heat up dinner, pulled out the baobab sprouts and said goodbye to the beautiful rose. She suddenly asked him for forgiveness. Not a word of reproach! The prince was very surprised.

She asked not to cover her with the cap anymore. Then she added:

Don't wait, it's unbearable! If you decide to leave, then leave.

She didn't want the Little Prince to see her cry. It was a very proud flower.
10
The prince travels to the asteroids closest to his planet.

On the first asteroid there lived a king. This was a very wise king. He gave his subjects only those orders that they could carry out. After all, if you give such orders, then everyone will obey you unquestioningly. The Little Prince wanted to yawn, and the king immediately ordered him to yawn.

“Authority must first of all be reasonable. If you command your people to throw themselves into the sea, they will start a revolution,” the king asserts quite correctly. The boy becomes bored on the small planet of the king without subjects and he says goodbye to the king, who would like to detain him.

But since the prince prepared to set off without hesitation, the king shouts after him:

I appoint you as an ambassador!
11-14
On the second planet, the prince meets an ambitious man. He asks the boy to clap his hands, and he bows. Without recognizing that he is the smartest, most beautiful and richest on this planet, where there is no one else, this person cannot live.

Well, give me pleasure, admire me anyway!

“I admire,” answered the Little Prince, “but what joy does that give you?”

And he set off.

On the next planet there lived a drunkard who drank because he was ashamed. And he felt ashamed because he was drinking. And he wanted to forget everything. The little prince took pity on the poor man and left the planet, once again becoming convinced that adults are “very, very strange people.”

On the fourth planet, a business man counts the stars for the love of numbers. He doesn't even know that these "little shiny things" are called stars. Business man thinks he owns these celestial bodies- after all, no one had thought of this before him.

The little prince tells the serious man that on his planet he waters the flower and cleanses the volcanoes - and this is useful. “And the stars have no use for you...”

And the simple-minded boy continues on his way, leaving the business man with his mouth open in surprise.

The fifth planet was the smallest. It only held a lantern and a lamplighter. Every minute the lamplighter lit the lantern: “Good evening!” And after a minute he turned it off: “Good afternoon!” Once upon a time, the planet rotated slowly - and the lamplighter, by agreement, lit a lantern in the evening and extinguished it in the morning. He managed to get enough sleep - more than anything else in the world he loves to sleep. And now, in thirty minutes, a whole month passes on the planet. But an agreement is an agreement...

The boy realizes that this ridiculous man is not as ridiculous as everyone he met before. “When he lights his lantern, it’s as if another star or flower is being born... Of all of them, he is the only one, in my opinion, who is not funny. Maybe because he thinks not only about himself..."

The little prince sighed.

“That’s who I could make friends with,” he thought again. - But his planet is too tiny. There's no room for two..."

He did not dare admit to himself that he regrets this wonderful planet most of all for one more reason: in twenty-four hours you can admire the sunset on it one thousand four hundred and forty times!”

And this meant that he was very, very sad...

15
“The sixth planet was ten times larger than the previous one. There lived an old man who wrote thick books.”

He was a geographer - a scientist who knows where the seas, rivers, cities are... But he himself does not know whether there are oceans and mountains on his planet. "The geographer is too important person, he has no time to walk around. He doesn't leave his office. But he hosts travelers and writes down their stories...”

A geographer asks a boy traveler to tell him about his planet. The Little Prince talks about his three volcanoes: two active and one extinct. And also about your flower.

We don’t celebrate flowers... flowers are ephemeral... - the scientist answers. -...We write about things that are eternal and unchanging.

That is, it should disappear soon. That's what the word "ephemeral" means.

“My beauty and joy are short-lived,” the Little Prince said to himself, “and she has nothing to protect herself from the world, she only has four thorns. And I abandoned her, and she was left all alone on my planet!”

He regretted the abandoned flower, but his courage immediately returned to him.

The geographer advised the boy to visit planet Earth.
16-19
"So the seventh planet he visited was Earth."

On Earth “there are one hundred and eleven kings (including, of course, black ones), seven thousand geographers, nine hundred thousand businessmen, seven and a half million drunkards, three hundred and eleven million ambitious people. Until electricity was invented, they also had to keep a whole army of lamplighters...

However, there are places on earth where there are no people. These are deserts. The little prince found himself in the desert. His first interlocutor was a snake.

It’s still lonely in the desert... - said the boy.

It’s also lonely among people,” the snake noted.

The snake tells the boy that although it is no thicker than a finger, it has more power than the king’s finger. She returns everyone she touches “to the land from which he came.”

The snake promised the boy on the day when he bitterly regretted his abandoned planet, to bring him back...

In the desert, the boy came across only one flower - an inconspicuous one, with three petals. When asked about people, the flower replied that he saw them once, a very long time ago. And what’s interesting about them, about these people, is that they are carried by the wind, they have no roots. It is very uncomfortable.

Having climbed a high mountain, the Little Prince saw only rocks - “tall and thin, like needles.”

And only echo responded to him.

Let’s be friends, I’m all alone... - said the boy.

One, one, one... - the echo responded.

The little prince became sad:

At home I had a flower, my beauty and joy, and it was always the first to speak.
20
Through sand and snow, the traveler reached a garden full of roses. And they all looked like his flower! And his beauty said that there was no one like her in the entire Universe!

How upset she would be if she saw all these roses, she would cough and even die - to humiliate the prince.

What did he have? Three volcanoes and a simple rose. What kind of prince is he after this?

“He lay down in the grass and cried.”
21

Suddenly the Fox greeted him sitting under an apple tree. He was not tamed and could not play with the baby. The fox told the little prince that people go hunting with guns and raise chickens. The fox was also lonely and dreamed of being tamed: “But if you tame me, my life will be illuminated by the sun. I will begin to distinguish your steps among thousands of others.” The fox began to teach the Little Prince the art of taming: when to come and what to do. “You can only learn those things that you tame,” said the Fox. “People don’t have enough time to learn anything. They buy things ready-made in stores. But there are no such shops where friends would trade, and therefore people no longer have friends.” But still the time has come to part. The little prince was very sorry that now the Fox would be in pain and would start crying. Saying goodbye, the Fox promised to reveal the secret to the baby, but only after he returned to the garden and realized that his rose was a unique flower. The little prince came to the roses and said that they were “beautiful, but empty” and no one would give their life for them: only the one you tamed, whom you protected and loved, is yours and the only one. Returning, the Little Prince learned the secret of the Fox: “Only the heart is vigilant. You can’t see the most important things with your eyes.” The kid repeated this secret so as not to forget it, and the Fox continued: “...Don’t forget: you are always responsible for everyone you tamed.”

“I am responsible for my rose,” said the Little Prince.
22, 23

Then the little prince met a switchman whose job was to sort and dispatch passengers. The kid could not understand where and why all these people were going, why they were in a hurry and what they were looking for. “Were they not happy where they were before?” - asked the Little Prince. “It’s good where we are not,” the interlocutor answered him.

And the Little Prince came to the conclusion that only children “know what they are looking for.”
Then the boy met a seller of thirst pills. You swallow such a pill, and then you don’t feel like drinking for a whole week. This frees up fifty-three minutes per week. And do whatever you want during this time!

“If I had fifty-three minutes to spare,” thought the Little Prince, “I would simply go to the spring...”
24, 25
A pilot working to repair his plane ran out of water. The boy suggested that he go look for a well. They walked for a long time in silence.

Do you know why the desert is good? - said the kid. - Because springs are hidden somewhere in it...

The child fell asleep and the pilot carried him in his arms. An adult was carrying a child - and it seemed to him that he was carrying the most fragile treasure. The boy's loyalty to the flower was like the flame of a lamp. “Lamps must be taken care of: a gust of wind can extinguish them...”

At dawn the pilot reached the well. It was just like a village one: a gate, a rope, a bucket... And the creaking of the gate was like music.

The boy drank water from a bucket. He drank with his eyes closed. “And it was like the most wonderful feast on earth.”

On your planet, people grow five thousand roses and do not find what they are looking for. But what they are looking for can be found in one single sip of water and in one single rose...

It turned out that the well is located almost in the place where a year ago the Little Prince first found himself on Earth. The pilot hears a boy talking to a snake. An adult is very scared, a premonition of irreparable misfortune takes possession of him. The pilot gives the boy his drawings: a portrait of a Fox, a planet with baobab trees, and, of course, a lamb. And for the lamb - a muzzle so that it does not eat the rose.

Baby, I still want to hear you laugh...

But the boy said:

Tonight my star will be exactly above the place where I fell a year ago... My body is too heavy, I cannot take it with me. I'll be returning home today. And you too.

I know: you managed to fix the plane... You know... Don’t come tonight... it will seem to you that I’m in pain, that I’m dying. But that's not true... Don't go. What if the snake bites you too? Snakes are evil... True, she doesn’t have enough poison for two.

The pilot still followed his little friend. But he turned to him with a request - to allow him to take the last step alone.

The kid sat down on the sand because he was scared. But he remembered his rose - so weak, so simple-minded.

“As if yellow lightning flashed at his feet. For a moment he remained motionless. Didn't scream. Then he fell - slowly, like a tree falling. Slowly and silently, because the sand muffles the sounds.”

Six years have passed since then. The narrator repaired the plane and returned to his comrades. He believes that the prince has returned to his planet - after all, in the morning the pilot did not find his body on the sand.

“...At night I like to listen to the stars. Like five hundred million bells...

But... When I was drawing a muzzle for the lamb, I forgot about the strap! The little prince will not be able to put it on the lamb. And I ask myself: is something being done there, on his planet? What if the lamb ate the rose?

Look at the sky. And ask yourself: is that rose alive or is it no longer there? What if the lamb ate it?

No adult will ever understand how important this is!”

If a little boy with golden hair comes up to you, you will certainly guess who he is. “Then - I beg you! - don’t forget to console me in my sadness, write to me as soon as possible that he has returned...”

Familiar not only to children, but also to adults.

Characteristics of the Little Prince

The Little Prince is a symbol of man - a wanderer in the universe, looking for hidden meaning things and own life. The soul of the Little Prince is not shackled by the ice of indifference and deadness. Therefore, a true vision of the world is revealed to him: he learns the value of true friendship, love and beauty. This is the theme of the “vigilance” of the heart, the ability to “see” with the heart, to understand without words. The little prince does not immediately comprehend this wisdom. He leaves his own planet, not knowing that what he will look for on different planets will be so close - on his home planet. The little prince is a man of few words - he says very little about himself and his planet. Only little by little, from random, casually dropped words, does the pilot learn that the baby has arrived from a distant planet, “which is the size of a house” and is called asteroid B-612. The little prince tells the pilot about how he is at war with the baobab trees, which take such deep and strong roots that they can tear apart his little planet. You need to weed out the first shoots, otherwise it will be too late, “this is a very boring job.” But he has a “firm rule”: “...got up in the morning, washed, put yourself in order - and immediately put your planet in order.” People must take care of the cleanliness and beauty of their planet, together protect and decorate it, and prevent all living things from perishing. The little prince from Saint-Exupery's fairy tale cannot imagine his life without the love of gentle sunsets, without the sun. “I once saw the sun set forty-three times in one day!” - he says to the pilot. And a little later he adds: “You know... when it becomes very sad, it’s good to watch the sun go down...” The child feels like a part of the natural world, and he calls on adults to unite with it. The kid is active and hardworking. Every morning he watered Rose, talked with her, cleaned the three volcanoes on his planet so that they would provide more heat, pulled out weeds... And yet he felt very lonely. Looking for friends, hoping to find true love He sets off on his journey through alien worlds. He is looking for people in the endless desert that surrounds him, because in communication with them he hopes to understand himself and the world around him, to gain the experience that he so lacked. Visiting six planets in succession, the Little Prince on each of them encounters a certain life phenomenon embodied in the inhabitants of these planets: power, vanity, drunkenness, pseudo-learning... The images of the heroes of A. Saint-Exupery's fairy tale “The Little Prince” have their own prototypes. The image of the Little Prince is both deeply autobiographical and, as it were, removed from the adult author-pilot. He was born out of longing for little Tonio, who was dying within himself - a descendant of an impoverished noble family, who in his family was called the “Sun King” for his blond (at first) hair, and in college he was nicknamed Lunatic for his habit of looking at the starry sky for a long time. The phrase “The Little Prince” itself appears, as you probably noticed, in “Planet of People” (like many other images and thoughts). And in 1940, during breaks between battles with the Nazis, Exupery often drew a boy on a piece of paper - sometimes winged, sometimes riding on a cloud. Gradually, the wings will be replaced by a long scarf (which, by the way, the author himself wore), and the cloud will become asteroid B-612.

Characteristics of Rose “The Little Prince”

Rose was capricious and touchy, and the baby was completely exhausted with her. But “but she was so beautiful that it was breathtaking!”, and he forgave the flower for its whims. However, the Little Prince took the empty words of the beauty to heart and began to feel very unhappy. A rose is a symbol of love, beauty, and femininity. The little prince did not immediately discern the true inner essence beauty. But after a conversation with the Fox, the truth was revealed to him - beauty only becomes beautiful when it is filled with meaning and content. “You are beautiful, but empty,” continued the Little Prince. - You won’t want to die for your sake. Of course, a random passerby, looking at my Rose, will say that she is exactly the same as you. But to me she is more precious than all of you...” Telling this story about Rose, little hero He admits that he didn’t understand anything at the time. “We were to be judged not by words, but by deeds. She gave me her scent and illuminated my life. I shouldn't have run. Behind these pitiful tricks and tricks one had to guess the tenderness. The flowers are so inconsistent! But I was too young and didn’t know how to love yet!”

The prototype of the capricious and touching Rose is also well known; this is, of course, Exupery’s wife Consuelo - an impulsive Latina, whom her friends nicknamed “the little Salvadoran volcano.” By the way, in the original the author always writes not “Rose”, but “la Aeig” - flower. But in French it is a feminine word. Therefore, in the Russian translation, Nora Gal replaced the flower with a Rose (especially since in the picture it is really a Rose). But in the Ukrainian version there was no need to replace anything - “la fleur” easily became “kvggka”.

Characteristics of the Fox “The Little Prince”

Since ancient times in fairy tales, the Fox (not a fox!) has been a symbol of wisdom and knowledge of life. The Little Prince's conversations with this wise animal become a kind of culmination in the story, for in them the hero finally finds what he was looking for. The clarity and purity of consciousness that had been lost returns to him. Fox opens life to baby human heart, teaches the rituals of love and friendship, which people have long forgotten and therefore lost friends and lost the ability to love. No wonder the flower says ABOUT PEOPLE: “They are carried by the wind.” And the switchman is in a conversation with the main character, answering the question: where are people rushing? notes: “Even the driver himself doesn’t know this.” This allegory can be interpreted as follows. People have forgotten how to look at the stars at night, admire the beauty of sunsets, and enjoy the fragrance of the Rose. They submitted to the vanity of earthly life, forgetting about the “simple truths”: the joy of communication, friendship, love and human happiness: “If you love a flower - the only one that is no longer on any of the many millions of stars - that’s enough: you look at the sky and you feel happy." And it is very sad for the author to say that people do not see this and turn their lives into a meaningless existence. The fox says that for him the prince is only one of thousands of other little boys, just as he is for the prince only an ordinary fox, of which there are hundreds of thousands. “But if you tame me, we will need each other. You will be the only one for me in the whole world. And I will be alone for you in the whole world... if you tame me, my life will seem to be illuminated by the sun. I will begin to distinguish your steps among thousands of others...” The fox reveals to the Little Prince the secret of taming: to tame means to create bonds of love, the unity of souls.

Regarding Fox, there were many disputes about prototypes and translation options. This is what translator Nora Gal writes in the article “Under the Star of Saint-Ex”: “When “The Little Prince” was published with us for the first time, there was a heated debate in the editorial office: the Fox in the fairy tale or the Fox - again feminine or male? Some people believed that the fox in the fairy tale was Rose’s rival. Here the dispute is no longer about one word, not about a phrase, but about the understanding of the entire image. Even more, to a certain extent, about understanding the entire fairy tale: its intonation, coloring, depth inner meaning- everything changed because of this “little thing”. But I am convinced: a biographical note about the role of women in the life of Saint-Exupéry does not help to understand the fairy tale and is not relevant. Not to mention the fact that in French it is 1e hepags! male. The main thing is that in the fairy tale the Fox is, first of all, a friend. Rose - love, Fox - friendship, and true friend The fox teaches the Little Prince fidelity, teaches him to always feel responsible for his beloved and for all his loved ones.” We can add one more observation. The unusually large ears of the Fox in Exupery's drawing are most likely inspired by the small desert fennec fox, one of the many creatures tamed by the writer while serving in Morocco.
