How and the easier it is to draw on T-shirts. Painting with acrylic paints on T-shirts

Do you want a T-shirt with an exclusive print? Then draw it yourself. By the way, it's very simple.

    Necessary materials:
  • Acrylic paints for fabric
  • Acrylic paint thinner for fabric;
  • Brushes 3 pcs.: synthetic No. 3, 4, 6;
  • T-shirt (preferably white);
  • A container with water for washing brushes;
  • Hoop;
  • A simple pencil (a piece of soap);
  • Small containers for obtaining additional shades;
  • Polyethylene.

FLORAL MOTIF

How to draw a picture on a T-shirt

We will need a white T-shirt. In principle, you can paint on fabric of any color, but, firstly, when painting on a dark material, the paint consumption is greater, and, secondly, sometimes the color of the material interrupts the colors of the design or gives an undesirable shade.

Tip 1: It’s good to draw on thin and smooth cotton fabric. But stretch, rib and any other pattern on the fabric are undesirable. Because a thick layer of paint penetrates the pores and can crack when pulled.

Step 2. TEMPLATE

I recommend reading this part to those who like to say: “I can’t draw!” And those who do not know such words can safely skip this paragraph. You can draw the template yourself by hand or download it online. It is important that the outline is clear and bright so that it is visible through the fabric of the T-shirt. You can also make slits on the template.

Step 3. BRUSHES

You will need at least three brushes of varying thicknesses. It is better to paint with acrylic using synthetic brushes. Be sure to rinse and dry your brushes thoroughly after use.

Step 4. PAINTS AND THINNER

For your first experience, a paint palette of six colors will be enough for you. It is important that the thinner is from the same company as the paint. Acrylic paint thinner allows for fairly saturated and bright colors make it lighter and softer, you can even compose new color. Thinning paint is quite simple: pour a little paint into a small container, and then add solvent. Mix the resulting mixture thoroughly.

Step 5. FINALLY DRAW

Be sure to iron the T-shirt before applying the design. Now take the template and trace the design. For those who skipped step No. 2, I inform you: take a pencil and draw any drawing that your imagination tells you.

Application with a pencil should be thin, barely noticeable because under light paint your pencil lines may show through.

Now take the hoop and polyethylene, which we attach to the wrong side (so that the paint does not accidentally stain the other half of the T-shirt). If you don’t have a hoop, take some container and stretch the product on it, using an elastic band to secure the position of the T-shirt.

Paint light surfaces first, gradually moving to darker ones. Proceed to the next color after a few minutes so that the paint has time to dry (this does not take long, the paint sets quickly), otherwise unwanted stains may occur. Leave some space for the outline.

Tip 2: Necessary paint pour into small containers so that the base paint does not dry out.

Tip 3: In general, it is better to keep jars of paints closed while working. This way you will avoid a “disaster” if you accidentally brush paint off the table.

Tip 4: When painting large surfaces, moisten the cloth with water, this will make the paint go on more evenly.

Tip 5: It is advisable that the paint completely saturates the fabric. Experts even recommend painting special dense fabrics on both sides. But if you are applying a design to a fabric that will only occasionally be washed, you can also try the dry brush effect. It looks very impressive.

When everything is dry, take black paint and draw an outline. To do this, use a thin brush.

Step 6. APPLYING THE FINAL SHINE

After 24 hours, the product must be ironed on both sides for 5 minutes. The thermostat on the iron is set to the “Cotton” mark. The front side of the design is ironed through the fabric.

Step 7. WASH

After 48 hours after complete drying, you can wash the product. The water temperature should not be higher than 40°C; not only hand washing, but also delicate machine washing is allowed.

And lastly, the design on the fabric lasts quite a long time, but it is not eternal.

Hello!!! Defenders of the Fatherland Day is about to come, and the entire fair half of humanity begins to think about what to give to their beloved boyfriend, husband, brother, etc. After all, I really want it to please everyone. This master class will show you how to make a design on a T-shirt at home with your own hands. Believe me, this is not at all difficult and, moreover, it has a huge advantage, since you yourself decide which image will appear on your loved one’s clothes.

So, for work you will need a list of the following materials:

- white T-shirt or T-shirt,
- universal acrylic paints in red and black,
- sponge 2 pieces,
- pencil,
- 2 album sheets,
- a simple pencil,
- cutter (stationery knife),
- brush,
- paper tape.

First, we enlarge the image on the computer to the required size and transfer it to landscape sheets.

Using a stationery knife, cut out the design along the contours. Don't forget to place something under the stencil being prepared so as not to damage the table surface.

We put a cardboard backing inside the T-shirt (in my case it’s a T-shirt) so that the design does not imprint on the back of the clothing. We put a stencil on top.

We fix the stencil with paper tape. Using a brush, apply black paint to a piece of sponge and begin painting the inscription on the T-shirt.

One part of the design on the T-shirt is ready. All that remains is to transfer the image of the tank onto the fabric. We also fix the stencil and paint the drawing with black paint.

After the paint has completely dried, turn the item inside out and iron the design. This is done so that the paint adheres to the fabric.

Guys, every day I answer my friends in “classmates” and “contacts” with what colors I paint on clothes, and where to get them and isn’t it difficult. I decided that it was easier to write once and give everyone a link.

How to use textile paints

It doesn’t matter which of these paints you use, the technology must be followed:

  1. Before drawing, the product must be washed to remove the factory impregnation of the fabric.
  2. Place something under the fabric, the paint will bleed through. I use a flat kitchen mat for hot dishes in A4 format, it is easy to wash afterwards.
  3. If you want the colors of the layers to mix, apply the next layer without waiting for the previous one to dry. If you want a clear shade on the previous layer, wait 20 minutes.
  4. Fix the drawing after it has completely dried, this is 6-8 hours. Iron each element for at least 3 minutes without steam in the “Cotton” mode through the fabric or from the inside out.
  5. Wash by hand or machine wash on delicate cycle at 40 degrees, iron inside out.
  6. Paints are afraid of frost, because... water base. If you buy it, don't let it freeze outside. It’s better not to order by mail yet, wait until it gets warmer.

Review of textile paints

I write only about the colors that I have. The choice in our city is not at all dense. What is:

From left to right:

Jacquard Tetxil.

Description from the manufacturer:

A krill dye for natural and synthetic fabrics Jacquard (USA) Yellow. Jar 60 ml. Approximate consumption: 60 ml per 1.0-1.5 m2. For light fabrics. Ready to use, does not harden the tissue. Permanent color. Does not fade with careful washing and dry cleaning. Lightfast. Directions for use: Shake the jar well. Apply to the product. Allow to dry on the fabric, then heat seal by ironing with reverse side within 30 sec. at the temperature of the appropriate tissue.

My opinion:

Big banks. The thickest and best covering paints in my arsenal. One layer on a light-colored fabric is more than enough. On dark skin they give good coverage in 2-3 applications. The advantage of these paints is their good covering ability. White can be used to prime dark fabric. The downside is the formation of lumps and the need to dilute them well before application. The white one I came across is so thick that you can only paint with it by diluting it by a third with water (I do this in a palette). This takes time, as you need to stir it well and evenly and rub out the lumps. Ocher is more liquid and homogeneous. It’s a pity that you can’t immediately check the quality of the paint in the store (the cans are packed). The paint is very dense, if you apply 2-3 layers, the picture will be quite hard to the touch, so they shouldn’t have written about the hardening of the fabric.

Price 120 rubles per jar, bought in an art store on the second floor of Pyaterochka, Yesenina Street.

Swelling contour on Marabu fabric “FUN LINER MAGIC”

Description from the manufacturer :

Volumetric contours for fabric, cardboard, stone, clay, paper, etc. Application: Clean the surface, apply contour. The drying time for outlines is about 6 hours, but lines and images with a thickness of 5 mm or more can take up to 2 days to dry. On hard surfaces, the contours are fixed with a hairdryer for 10-60 seconds. On fabrics (cotton, silk), the contours are fixed with an iron through a thin fabric at a temperature of 150 degrees (“cotton”) for 1-3 minutes. Recommended gentle washing at 40 degrees.

My opinion:

I had a bad experience with this product. I tried to draw a dragon for them. The process itself is labor-intensive, since the paint is thick and the can must be squeezed quite firmly with your fingers. Your hands get tired quickly. It takes about 8 hours to dry. At first it looks beautiful. You iron it through the fabric - it swells funny, becomes thick and matte. Good too. But after the first wash, it began to fall off in pieces and crumble. Machine washed on delicate cycle, 30 degrees. The entire T-shirt was covered in crumbs. I was upset and decided to wash off the entire outline, since it looked terrible. Not so! Part of the outline ( top part) was easily torn off, the lower one ate into the fabric like stone. I rubbed it and washed it several times, to no avail. The T-shirt was ruined. She saved it with a thick layer of primer (Jacquard paint) and subsequent drawing. You can still feel this contour to the touch. Nasty, nasty, nasty! Perhaps I will use it on cardboard or other surfaces that do not need to be washed or washed.

This is what my T-shirt ended up with:

Right hereThere is interesting master class, after reading which, I bought this product. In vain.
Price 600 RUR for a set of 6 colors.

Good luck with your drawing everyone!
Three fucking wrinkled T-shirts. My first experience with HDR photography. Ha ha ha, just kidding.

Well, in fact, I have four such hand-painted T-shirts, but somehow I can’t find the fourth one (with the chiroptera) anywhere. And I actually took these three out of a bag of dirty laundry, so they are wrinkled, as if I pulled them out of my ass.
I was inspired to write this post by studying the capabilities of Yandex.Metrica. It turns out that my blog, replicated in Ya.ru, is found mainly by the requests “Kovanant Aria Galactica download” and all sorts of combinations “draw”, “acrylic”, “fabric”, “T-shirt” et cetera. I decided to consolidate my success.

Acrylic paint is a water-dispersed polymer-based paint esters acrylic acid - polyacrylates. It's much cooler than any crap like gouache and oil paints. Firstly, since it is water-dispersed, you can try to wash it off with water while it is still wet, and in general, you can dilute it with water and paint it like gouache. But when all the water component has evaporated, acrylic paint can only be removed with the help of special solvents. When dried, it does not crack like gouache or Oil paint. Paint acrylic paints You can do it on anything at all - on wood, metal, glass, ceramics (I have a ceramic snail with an alarm clock painted with acrylic paints on my refrigerator), probably even on skin. Well, on fabric, too.

I painted the T-shirts using stencils that I cut out of paper and attached to the T-shirt with tape. Then I found a self-adhesive film on the balcony and started cutting it out. Actually, the process of making a T-shirt with a handmade pattern can be described as follows:

1) go to the market and buy a T-shirt without a pattern.
2) go to the store and buy acrylic paints and a brush, if you don’t already have them. It's all inexpensive.
3) put the T-shirt on the floor and straighten it with your hands.
4) we put paper in the middle so that the design is not printed on the back. It is better not to use newspapers. Blank printer paper will do just fine.
5) smooth with an iron.
6) if there is no stencil and you need one, then you need to make it somewhere around points 1-3.
7) attach the stencil to the T-shirt and draw. It is possible without a stencil, but then the T-shirt must be attached to the floor so that it is stretched and smoothed out and does not wrinkle.
8) ready, waiting. The T-shirt is drying.
9) let it dry better.
10) peel off the stencil, place a clean piece of paper on top of the drawing, iron it with an iron to secure the result.
11) ready.

It’s better to wash it by hand at least the first time - who knows, maybe the acrylic paint will fade. How well it will stick to a T-shirt depends largely on the properties of the fabric. I’m too lazy to wash that green T-shirt with the biohazard symbol by hand, I wash it in the machine, and the badge has already faded quite noticeably thanks to all sorts of powders and so on. The other two are still quite fresh, since I wash them by hand for now.

T-shirts with original inscriptions have always been popular, but you can’t always find what you want on sale, and not all companies have companies that produce inscriptions or designs on T-shirts settlements. You can, of course, order such a service on the Internet, but we are not looking for easy ways and will do the T-shirt painting with our own hands.

Apply an inscription or design to a T-shirt at home can be done in several ways:

  1. Using your home printer. We sell special transfer paper for printing on inkjet and laser printers. The image is simply printed on such paper and transferred to clothing using an iron. This method allows you to put not only inscriptions on a T-shirt, but also full-color photographs. The downside is that the image will quickly peel off after 10-15 washes.
  2. Painting with acrylic paints or fabric markers. Our small master class will be about this method of painting a T-shirt.

Fabric paints are sold in many craft stores and are inexpensive. They come in 2 types: just for fabric and for batik (for silk).

I have never used batik paints, but I bought several jars for comparison. They differ in that the fabric paints are thick and lie on top of the fabric like all acrylic paints, but for batik they are liquid like water, absorbed into the fabric and are not felt on it when touched, but are almost invisible on dense tissues. They also spread a lot and to use them you need to use special contours (sold in the same place where paints are sold). As far as I understand, batik paints are only used for painting silk (as written on the can).

For the design on the T-shirt I used acrylic fabric paints.

First you need to come up with an inscription and its design. Since the experiment was carried out on a children's T-shirt and specifically for this article, the universal inscription was chosen: “I love everyone.”

You can draw right away without a stencil, but I’m not very good at drawing by hand, so I had to make one.

How to make a stencil? To do this, print using a printer on thick paper ( better than photo paper) image of the desired size and cut it out.

It is better to cut the stencil with a stationery or mounting knife, or a scalpel. Pay attention to how the letters are cut: the holes must not be cut completely so that the internal parts of the letters do not fall off.

Before painting, the T-shirt needs to be ironed; I was too lazy to do this, and it was not very convenient to paint. NECESSARILY under the top layer of the T-shirt you need place paper or film so as not to smear the other side with paint. I used a regular faux brush to apply the paint.

After the stencil design is painted over, remove the stencil and paint over the remaining spaces on the letters that were not cut out. You also need to correct the drawing if somewhere it turned out crooked.

When you are done with painting, we leave the T-shirt to dry for 24 hours (according to the instructions, I waited a little less). When the paint is completely dry, iron the design through a thin cloth for 5 minutes to set the paint. After ironing, the T-shirt can be safely washed at a temperature of 30-40 degrees and there is no fear that the paint will peel off. The drawing lasts quite a long time.
