Linor what is Edgar Poe? "Lenora" G

hands like ice

from son-in-law Högni;

how do I feel, king?

heal you?

[Helgi said:]

"It's your fault,

Sigrun of Sevafjöll

that Helgi is splashed

burning with dew:

you shed tears

decorated with gold

coming from the south,

sunny clear;

tears are falling

against the bloody prince,

burning his chest

filled with grief.

Let's drink

precious drink

at least happiness and earth

We lost!

Don't start singing

the sorrows of songs,

bloody wounds!

From now on in the mound

with me, killed,

noble maiden

will remain together!”

Sigrun made her bed in the mound:

“Here for you, Helgi,

the bed is ready, -

bed of joy,

Ilving's relative;

in your arms

I would like to sleep

as with the king I

I’d fall asleep alive!”

[Helgi said:]

"Now there is nothing

neither late nor early,

what is impossible

in Sevafjöll it would be,

if in arms

you're sleeping dead

in his mound,

Sigrun, daughter of Hogni,

you are alive,

born of a king!

It's time for me to go

along the scarlet road,

on a pale horse

by air route;

I will direct my path

to the west of the sky,

before Salgofnir

will wake up the heroes."

Helgi and his warriors rode away, and Sigrun and her maid returned home. The next evening, Sigrun told her maid to stand guard at the mound. And at dusk, when Sigrun came to the mound, she said:

"If I could come

was going here

Sigmund's son

from Odin's house!

No, he won't come

hope has faded

if eagles

they sit on an ash tree,

and people are walking

to the ting of dreams."

[The maid said:]

"Don't be crazy

don't go alone,

king's daughter

dwelling in the dead!

Stronger at night

everyone is becoming

dead warriors,

than during the day in the sun."

Sigrun soon died of grief and sadness.

Edgar Allan Poe

Linor

It is believed that "Linor" was written under strong impression from Burger's ballad "Lenora", about which Edgar Allan Poe wrote more than once in his essays.

The poem is named after the deceased heroine, Lenor, who was the bride of a certain Sir Guy de Vere. Like some of Edgar Allan Poe's other poems (such as "The Raven," "Annabel Lee," and "Ulalyum"), "Linor" describes loss by the narrator. beautiful woman, who died suddenly. Linor dies of illness, but it is Guy who is blamed by the voices for her death.

Linor

Alas, the golden vessel is broken! the spirit flew away forever!

Ringing, wait longer! - the holy soul must swim into the fatal rivers;

What, Guy de Vere, are you sire without tears? - cry in reproach to yourself!

The whole world has darkened, the idol is in the coffin, beloved Lenore!

Let them perform a ritual over her - sing for her repose! -

They mourn for the most royal one - for such youth -

They create a hymn doubly for the deceased - for the deceased young.

“You despised pride in her - you only loved wealth,

When she fell ill from bitter days, they blessed her for death!

Who will perform the ceremony now? - what words to sing? -

Are you really - your black gaze - a barbed rumor -

Destroyed the innocent - who barely blossomed?

We are all sinners; but the sword is in its sheath! And let him ascend to God

Sunday choir in the midst of silence - away from the dead anxiety.

Sweet Lenore appeared - with Nadezhda behind her,

And you, being sad, cry for the child who did not become a wife.

Sorrow for her, which is more tender than all, cherish the imperishable ashes.

Life flows, but not in the eyes, but only in the hair,

The flax strand is alive again - but death freezes in the eyes.

"Away! away! a rebellious spirit rushes away from the demons, taking off

From Hell to the mountain monastery, up into the confines of Paradise,

Rejecting the groan, before the bright throne, flying up to the King of Heaven!

Let the ringing stop, otherwise it will inflame her soul,

I’m glad to sing to her in the old way - and I’m flying with the angel!”

Lenore
by Edgar Allan Poe

Ah, broken is the golden bowl! the spirit flown forever!
Let the bell toll! - a saintly soul floats on the Stygian river;
And, Guy de Vere, hast thou no tear? - weep now or nevermore!
See! on yon drear and rigid bier low lies thy love, Lenore!
Come! let the burial rite be read - the funeral song be sung! -
An anthem for the queenliest dead that ever died so young -
A dirge for her the double dead in that she died so young.

"Wretches! ye loved her for her wealth and hated her for her pride,
And when she fell in feeble health, ye blessed her - that she died!
How shall the ritual, then, be read? - the requiem how to be sung
By you- by yours, the evil eye, - by yours, the slanderous tongue
That did to death the innocence that died, and died so young?"

Peccavimus; but not like that! and let a Sabbath song
Go up to God so solemnly the dead may feel no wrong.
The sweet Lenore hath "gone before," with Hope, that flew beside,
Leaving thee wild for the dear child that should have been thy bride.
For her, the fair and debonair, that now so lowly lies,
The life upon her yellow hair but not within her eyes
The life still there, upon her hair - the death upon her eyes.

"Avaunt! avaunt! from fiends below, the indignant ghost is riven-
From Hell unto a high estate far up within the Heaven -
From grief and groan, to a golden throne, beside the King of Heaven!
Let no bell toll, then, - lest her soul, amid its hallowed mirth,
Should catch the note as it doth float up from the damned Earth!
And I! - to-night my heart is light! - no dirge will I upraise,
But waft the angel on her flight with a Paean of old days!"

They mourn over the most royal, such youth.

[b] Lenore- the little dead girl (eng. Lenore, the Cute Little Dead Girl) - animated series for adults 2001 American artist and illusionist Roman Durge. The cartoon is full of black humor and a gloomy gothic atmosphere. In Russia it has been broadcast by channel 2x2 since April 2007.

Background

Lenore is a character created by Durge inspired by the poem of the same name by Edgar Allan Poe. First there were comics about a little dead girl, then the idea came to make an animated series about her. The cartoon was made using flash animation technology. The release of comics about Lenore's new adventures is currently ongoing.

Plot

Lenore is a little girl who, at the age of 10, contracted pneumonia and died. But she did not die completely, stuck somewhere in the middle between the world of the living and the world of the dead. She lives in a huge abandoned mansion far from people, she is surrounded by living toys, fairy tale characters and disgusting monsters - her best friends. In almost every episode, Lenore commits some bad, vile act, but she is not driven by anger or envy, she does everything with the best intentions.

Each episode begins with a slightly distorted quotation of lines from a Poe poem:

Let them perform a ritual over her, sing for her repose

They mourn over the most royal, such youth.

"Lenore." Edgar Allan Poe. 1831

It is noteworthy that these lines contain the surname of the author of the animated series - Dirge.

Characters

Lenore(English: Lenore) - main character, a dead ten-year-old girl living in a creepy mansion near a cemetery. Lenore does not have a clear understanding of the concepts of “life”, “death”, “pain”, “good”, “evil” - it is this feature of hers that underlies the plot of most episodes. Lenore costs nothing to kill an animal or a person, which she often does, but almost always does it without malicious intent or by an absurd accident, without feeling any guilt for what she has done. Lenore collects insects and other small creatures preserved in alcohol, as well as individual organs. She loves animals and often gets pets (mostly cats) - but her “love” always ends in death for the unfortunate animals. He often carries a dead cat with him. Despite the obvious cruelty of many of her actions, Lenore evokes only pity in the viewer.

Ragamuffin(eng. Ragamuffin) - a revived rag doll, eternal companion Lenore. Once upon a time, the Ragamuffin was a formidable vampire, but one of his victims turned out to be the sister of a powerful witch, who turned the vampire into a strange rag doll. Many years later, a drop of Lenore's blood brought him back to life - but the Tattered Man never returned to his former appearance. In contrast to the impulsive and extravagant Lenore, Ragamuffin is balanced and pragmatic. He is devoted to his savior and always supports her, even if he does not agree with her.

Mr Ghosh(English Mr. Gosh; “gosh!” is an English interjection, like “damn it!”) - a dead man with a bag instead of a head and buttons instead of eyes. Suffering from unrequited love for Lenore. The girl kills him repeatedly, but he comes back again and again.

Taxidermy, or

Scarecrow(English Taxidermy) - a certain person with a half-decayed deer head. He explains his strange appearance by “medical intervention” (“It’s an... Hmm... A medical condition”). Intelligent and melancholic. Rides in a hearse. Has a strange pet named "Malakai" (possibly an allusion to the Pacific island of Molokai, which served as a leper colony).

The Muffin Monster is a silent character who does not play a special role, but is present in a number of episodes. One of Lenore's few friends - along with the Raggedy Man and the Taxidermist.

(Login to clear the page.) A masterpiece of black gothic humor - cartoons and comics The Gute Little Dead Girl Lenore, about the little dead girl Lenore, whose charm leaves no one indifferent. Quiet, pretty Lenore has long lived in the other world, but wanders in the world of the living, talking about otherworldly customs to mere mortals and torturing her pets. But in general, she is kind, she just accidentally does something bad to someone she wants to be friends with. Yes, and someone is always annoying her, either demons interfere with her sleep, or Gauche with his speeches about love, and even the monsters from the toilet just won’t calm down! In short, a very gothic series.

Memorial service for Lenore

The surname of the author Lenore, underground artist Roman Dirge, literally translates as “requiem.” Maybe that’s why at school he considered himself a vampire, and when he grew up, he became the author of gothic comics about the “sweet little dead” Lenore. He took this name from the poem “To Lenore” by Edgar Allan Poe: there is just a line mentioning the funeral service, which became the epigraph to the comics.

A dirge for her the double dead in that she died so young...

which in translation means approximately the following

Let them perform a ritual over her, sing for her repose,
They mourn for the most royal one, for such youth

Later the theme was widely expanded, naturally with the addition of blood, meat and all sorts of bullying. In total there are 26 episodes of the cartoon, each 2-3 minutes long.

The company that owns the rights to the animated series based on the comics removed Lenore from public access, but Internet users have saved copies of the cartoons, and they can be found on different places, for example at www.mult.ee/lenore or on the Russian Lenore fan site - girllenore.narod.ru. All 26 episodes on English language, weigh about 59 megs.

Characters

Lenore was and will remain 10 years old - it was at this age that she died of pneumonia, after which she was buried. But Lenore had reasons for returning from another world - she was not accepted there. Lenore loves animals, although they don’t live with her for long. Lives in deep forest, next to the cemetery. There is an old, old mansion there that keeps many secrets. In Lenore's wardrobe - a standard long one black dress, which she wears with skull hairpins, a forest fairy costume, a ballerina tutu and a hare costume.

Catchphrases: “This one is broken too!” and "Is this good or bad?"

Kitty - a girl often appears with a dead kitten. For some reason, every time Lenore gets a new kitty, she accidentally kills it without noticing it...

Ragamuffin is Lenore's friend, former vampire. One day he attacked and killed a young girl, but she turned out to be the sister of a powerful witch who turned Ragamuffin into his doll for a hundred years. Lenore saved him from this fate by giving him her blood (albeit by accident). The vampire came to life again, but remained a doll, because Lenore’s blood did not really suit him. Now Ragamuffin lives with Lenore in her old mansion....

Mr. Ghosh is a sock puppet with buttons for eyes, but he's alive. He is unrequitedly in love with Lenore. No matter how much she killed him, Mr. Ghosh still returned with his favorite phrase: “Marry me.” Lenore's friends also don't like Gauche and constantly threaten to deal with him if he returns. But the threats are empty, he always resurrects.

Taxidermy is a Frankenstein man with a stuffed deer head. Claims that his strange appearance is a medical error.
