The 2017 Billboard Music Awards took place last night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, bringing together as many stars of the world music industry as possible in the hall and on the red carpet. The award is awarded annually to the best representatives of the most popular musical genres, determined by the listeners themselves, or rather, by quantitative indicators of sales of albums and individual tracks, as well as the number of rotations on radio, TV and the Internet. The data collection partners this year were Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound, and the information itself was collected for the period from March 18, 2016 to March 16, 2017.
The clear favorite for the award was 30-year-old Canadian rapper and music producer Drake, who took home awards in 13 of the 22 categories on the original list published by the publication in April. Thus, Drake not only became the grandee of the ceremony, but also the record holder of the award, surpassing Adele, who had previously received 12 awards at once.
The next most-cited hosts, Vanessa Hudgens and hip-hop artist Ludacris, were Beyonce, Twenty One Pilots and The Chainsmokers, who are just about to add new honors to their collection of creative trophies.
The three-hour show itself included a performance by Nicki Minaj, accompanied by Jason Derulo, David Guetta and the support of longtime friend Lil Wayne. Performances by Miley Cyrus, Lorde, Imagine Dragons, as well as a joint track by John Legend and the country duo Florida Georgia Line. In addition to them, music industry legends Celine Dion took to the stage with the title track from the movie “Titanic” “My Heart Will Go On”, performed in honor of the 20th anniversary of the composition, and 71-year-old Cher, who once again recalled to the assembled public that age decides absolutely nothing.

The Billboard Music Awards took place last night in Las Vegas. The event was hosted by singer Ciara and actor and singer Ludacris. The largest number of awards at the end of the evening were taken home by musician The Weeknd and singer Adele, who was unable to attend the ceremony in person.

This year the ceremony was especially spectacular. This happened largely thanks to the participation of the “veterans” of the scene - Celine Dion, Pink, Gwen Stefani, Britney Spears and Madonna. The performance of any of them could have been the “icing on the cake”, the highlight of the evening, but each of the stars prepared a special performance for the Billboard Music Awards. Pink flew over the stage against the backdrop of a giant clock, Britney straddled a huge guitar and finally danced like she hadn’t danced for ten years, Madonna made a tribute in honor of Prince, and Gwen Stefani appeared on stage with her lover, country singer Blake Shelton and, it seems, , sang only for him. 
When actress Kate Beckinsale announced the name Adele from the stage (winner in the category “Best Album of the Billboard 200” for the album Adele, 25), it turned out that the singer was not in the hall. However, she sent a video message in which she thanked for the award and said that she had prepared a gift: a new video for the song Send My Love, which was immediately shown on the big screen.

Why didn't Ed Sheeran come to the ceremony?
The authoritative music publication Billboard gathered the coolest celebrities in the West in Las Vegas to present awards for achievements in music and show business.
