50 shades darker best moments. “Bed scenes should tell the viewer the truth

Vietnam's film department has confirmed that seven minutes will be cut from Fifty Shades Darker to allow the film to be shown in local cinemas.

Ngo Phuong Lan, who heads the department tasked with film censorship in Vietnam, says that despite the introduction of a new film rating system that includes an 18+ category, some types of content must still be restricted.

If a film contains scenes that violate the Cinema Theater Act, distributors may have to choose between risking a ban or cutting such scenes, Lan said.

She called the scenes that were cut from “Fifty Shades Darker” “pornographic.”

“Other sex and romance scenes that comply with the rules for 18+ content remain,” she said.

Vietnamese viewers expected less censorship when authorities announced a new rating system based on age classifications, C13, C16 and C18, in addition to the general P category for all viewers.

Previously, there were only two categories in local cinemas - G for general viewing and NC16 for those over 16 years old.

The big premiere of “Fifty Shades Darker,” as well as the action movie “John Wick: Chapter 2,” was scheduled for February 10 in Vietnam, but it was delayed another day. Three minutes of violent scenes were cut from the second film.

In the US, Fifty Shades Darker was rated R due to strong graphic content, nudity and language. The film is considered inappropriate for audiences under 15 in Australia, under 16 in Canada and under 18 in Ireland and the UK.

Sex tends to remain a controversial topic in film and art in Vietnam. In 2015, officials proposed banning all sex scenes that last more than five seconds in domestic films and scenes that include fully naked women. The proposal was not discussed after this due to strong opposition from filmmakers.

The first Fifty Shades of Gray film also faced difficulties two years ago after censors unexpectedly canceled all scheduled screenings. Then the so-called Asian version of the film appeared in cinemas, but viewers lamented that there were no sex scenes left in it.

All three books in the Fifty Shades series that served as the basis for the films were published uncensored in Vietnam.

The film industry in Vietnam is developing well. Lan said ticket sales have grown every year by 20% over the past decade.

Fifty Shades Darker, the second episode of the melodramatic BDSM trilogy based on the super-popular novels by E.L., is being released in Russia. James. After the first film was crushed by critics and a conflict with the writer, the erotic blockbuster changed its director: Sam Taylor-Johnson was replaced by a Hollywood veteran, director of the cult drama of the early 1990s “Glengarry Glen Ross”, who has been making audience and genre films for three decades. Lately, Foley has worked a lot on TV - on such series as House of Cards, Hannibal and Billions. I learned from the director what he wanted to add to the numerous sex scenes and what he learned on television.

“Lenta.ru”: When agreeing to film “Fifty Shades Darker,” did you think about what was good and bad about the first film directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson? What did you think was worth bringing in that was new?

The main thing I took away from the books of E.L. James, it feels like they have created their own very special world. And this world should be appropriate on the screen - sensual, alluring, crafty. Even in the first film I didn’t have enough humor - the James trilogy is very funny. I think we were able to bring this playfulness, the sensuality of the image itself and a sense of humor. It was important to remember that in those numerous, intense sex scenes, the characters did not lose this sense of humor, they were constantly making fun of each other. In the first film, when they have sex, everything is very serious - and for my taste, too prim. So I wanted to not only suggest that these sexual practices are not devoid of emotion, but also to show that these are normal, living, feeling people who just so happen to be practicing this type of sex.

When you come to work on such a project - a big studio film, part of a franchise, based on a popular book series and with its author as a producer - you probably first of all look for something of your own, important in this story. What was it in your case?

It seemed interesting to me to make a movie about the fact that the relationship between a man and a woman is a very confusing and complex thing. The film pays particular attention to how the power dynamic between them changes as their relationship becomes more intense and serious. Anastasia is just entering adulthood, she has her first job - and although Christian says that he will not try to control everything, he still cannot resist doing so. Therefore, she is trying to defend her freedom and equal rights with him. I was intrigued by how this struggle is reflected in sex - it changes from the first film. In general, sex is largely based on fantasies, and this is a very psychologically revealing thing: what preferences a person has often says a lot about his character. Therefore, I wanted the bed scenes to be like dream scenes in some other films - to tell the viewer some kind of truth, to bring new knowledge about the characters. So I was able to use the sex scenes as turning points in the film, where the dynamics in the characters' relationships change. This really intrigued me. Power intrigues me.

Many of your previous films are about just this - the struggle for power. Not to mention House of Cards.

Has working on TV series a lot over the last few years changed the way you approach film directing?

Certainly. Especially two positive points. Firstly, even on a series of such magnitude as House of Cards, you are limited in time and budget compared to a live-action film, but you are dealing with very good material. This taught me to shoot and feature films more productively, to react more quickly to what is happening on set - instead of doing countless takes and figuring it out in editing. On TV, due to time and money constraints, such an approach would be a luxury. And secondly, I learned to work more efficiently over a long period of time. I directed a total of 12 episodes of House of Cards, and six of them were back-to-back. That's six continuous hours of content. So when I was offered to film “Fifty Shades Darker” and “Fifty Shades Freed” at the same time, I was not at all embarrassed by it - I understood that I had such experience. On House of Cards, you shoot two different episodes at the same time, working scenes from both depending on the location. And while working on Fifty Shades, I easily mentally switched between films, plots, depending on what scene we were working on. Overall, the experience of working in TV has definitely helped and made me a better director.

Frame: the film “Fifty Shades Darker”

It is clear that the second films in trilogies are the most difficult: in the first series you introduce the characters, in the third you finish the story and plot. How did you ensure that Fifty Shades Darker was interesting on its own, rather than as a bridge between the premise and the climax of the franchise?

I will note that I really like Fifty Shades Freed in terms of ideas and ending. We are just starting to install it. But to me, “Fifty Shades Darker” seems unique, completely independent. The film's story works on its own. The tension in the opening is such that even if you haven’t seen the first picture, you quickly guess what happened there. The characters in this series change in a very dramatic and interesting way. Their relationship changes dramatically. In some ways, this is the most emotionally active episode of the three. Anastasia and Christian spend most of their time agreeing on the rules and roles of each in the relationship. This is something new for both of them - there's a lot of drama in it. I also like the ending, in which the villain reappears and it becomes clear that we will see him again, in the next film. Of course, this wouldn't happen in a standalone film, but it's important to consider the nature of the audience. Fans of the book trilogy wouldn't need the second film on its own. And for those who haven’t read the books, this ending gives an additional reason to watch the third part and find out how it all ends.

And we already had to get used to each other in the sex scenes in the first film. And since the director changed, it turns out that they had to go through this process all over again.

Not really. Except, of course, that sex scenes are always difficult for the actors and crew. I had similar concerns before filming began, because not only the director, but also the entire film crew had changed. Nude and depicting rather frank, non-trivial sexual acts, Dakota and Jamie should now be looked at by completely different one and a half hundred people than last time. But there was such a sincere, strong connection between them that there was no problem. They are true friends, very close and constantly make each other laugh. The fact that they were comfortable with each other made my job a lot easier. I didn’t have the feeling at all that I was a stranger who was barging into the relationships of strangers. There were no problems - and this is the merit of the actors. It would be much worse if they disliked each other. It's scary to imagine what a disaster this movie would have turned out to be.

It became known that some shots of erotic content were nevertheless cut from the film

The breathtaking premiere of the most anticipated film in the world took place last week, but talk about it still does not stop.

Those who have not yet watched the erotic drama are especially worried. Will the film be as explicit as the book?

Unfortunately no. A number of erotic scenes that were shown in the trailers were cut from the final version of the film. And all because of the age rating of the film. The creators of the film version of 50 Shades of Gray wanted to make the film accessible to children, but then they would have to sacrifice all the pastel scenes.

In England, the rules turned out to be stricter. The British Board of Film Classification has given a "mature" (18) rating to the adaptation of the erotic novel by writer E.L. James. This decision was made due to scenes of "hardcore sex and nudity along with depictions of erotic role-playing based on dominance, submission and sadomasochism."

Here's the result. Every day there are fewer and fewer erotic scenes in “50 Shades of Gray.” What specific episodes were cut out, one can only guess while enjoying the extended trailer of the film. Everything is left in it for now.

The artistic value of the film has been called into question more than once, but there are more than enough piquant moments that can make anyone smile!

We chose the boldest “shades of gray”. 1. - Do you know what I will do with you now? - he adds, stroking my chin. Somewhere inside, in the dark depths, my muscles are contracting with sweet languor.

2. “It feels so good,” he whispers and, grasping my fingers tightly, begins to move my hand up and down. His breathing becomes uneven, and when he looks at me again, I see molten lead in his gaze. - Smart girl.

3. I put a piece of omelette in my mouth, but I don’t feel the taste. “Continue training!” “I want @@@ you in my mouth!” Is this also included in the program?

4. Moving down, I swallow him deeper. Ha! My inner goddess rejoices. I will do it.

5. He kisses my neck. I tilt my head to the side to give him more room. Sitting down, Christian slowly pulls my jeans and panties down my legs.

6. I arch my back with a groan. Christian squeezes and gently pulls his nipples, causing them to swell. I look in amazement at the lust-stricken slut in the mirror. Oh, how good!

7. Putting his hand between my legs, he pulls the blue thread... Oh no! Christian carefully removes the tampon and tosses it into the nearest toilet. Oh mother of God...

8. Christian leans down and slowly runs the tip of the glass over my forehead, my nose - it smells like expensive, well-crafted leather - and over my parted lips, from which heavy breathing escapes. He puts the whip in my mouth and I can taste it.

9. I gasp for air and squeeze my fingers lightly. Christian grins. - I want to be in you. Take off my jeans. You are in command.

10. “Please don’t hit me,” I whisper pleadingly. He furrows his brows, widens his eyes, blinks a couple of times.

11. The dress barely covers my bare butt. With a swift movement, Christian puts his hand between my legs, his finger slowly entering me. With his other hand he holds my waist tightly. I can barely contain my groan.

12. His tongue knows no mercy, persistent and domineering. It moves in a circle, over and over again, without stopping. Pleasure borders on pain.

13. Strikes along the thighs, short sharp blows to the pubis, to the legs, and again to the torso, again along the thighs. The beats don't stop until the music reaches its climax. Suddenly it breaks off. The whip also freezes.

Tomorrow, the third film in the “shades of gray” franchise, called “Fifty Shades Freed” from director James Foley, will be released in Russia. Yesterday, Dakota Johnson, who plays Anastasia Steele, gave a frank interview in which she admitted that the sex scenes in the erotic melodrama were not easy for her. “I had to seriously prepare for filming from a psychological point of view. Of course, because my body flashes more in the frame than my partner Jamie Dornan. Bed scenes were very difficult for me,” said Dakota Johnson.

Dakota Johnson “split” that with each new film it is not easier for her to act. The actress doesn’t have the feeling that “we’ve already been through this”: every time it’s like the first time. Fortunately, the relationship with my partner on the set was trusting. “Luckily Jamie and I worked together comfortably and I felt protected. However, the set of such a film is an aggressive and frightening environment,” admitted Dakota Johnson.

Dakota Johnson said that, despite all the difficulties, filming in the “Shades of Gray” franchise was her own choice. “No one forced me to undress on camera. “I decided to do this myself,” said the actress.
