Probably every woman loves comfortable and loose pullovers, but many novice knitters find it difficult to assemble a model, and the greatest difficulty is attaching sleeves or a sweater knitted in the style of “ bat", just what you might like.

In this article we will learn:

  1. How to make a whole pattern
  2. What are the pattern options?
  3. How to cast on stitches for dolman sleeves
  4. In what order to knit the product

This master class was taken from the magazine “Sandra”

1. How to make a whole pattern

First look at the pattern drawing given here. Solid lines correspond to the contours of the parts, dotted lines indicate that in these areas the part is made in one piece.
Arrows show the direction of knitting. For models with batwing sleeves, as a rule, 1/4 of the pattern is given knitted product. To make a whole pattern, proceed as follows:
a) transfer half of the front onto tracing paper; to do this, place the tracing paper on the pattern drawing from the magazine and draw the corresponding lines.
Attention: Place the front neckline on tracing paper. Make the inscription “1/2 front” on this drawing, mark the middle of the front and the left shoulder line (Fig. 1).

b) Rotate the tracing paper. aligning the shoulder line of your drawing with the shoulder line of the pattern drawing from the magazine. Draw half of the back. Don't forget to draw the neckline here too. Label your drawing “1/2 back” and indicate the middle of the back (Fig. 2).

c) Rotate the tracing paper so that the middle of the back of your drawing coincides with the middle of the front of the drawing from the magazine. Draw the second half of the back. Thus, 3/4 of the pattern drawing is ready and you can label this part and mark the right shoulder line (Figure 3).

d) Turn the tracing paper again so that the middle front and shoulder line of your drawing coincide with the corresponding lines of the pattern drawing from the magazine and draw the second half of the front. Make the inscription "1/2 front". A complete drawing of the pattern has been received (Fig. 4) and you can start knitting according to the instructions.

2. What are the options for patterns on the site?

Knitting models with dolman sleeves usually starts from the lower edge of the front, respectively the back, or from the cuff of the sleeve. The knitting sequence is indicated in the instructions; the knitting direction is indicated by arrows on the pattern drawing.
Often models are made of 2 parts with shoulder seams, which is shown in the pattern drawing with a solid line (Fig. 5).

The front and back with seamless knitted sleeves are done separately and, after finishing the work, the shoulder edges and the upper edges of the sleeves are sewn together. A batwing cut jacket can be started, for example, from the sleeve. Having finished the 1st shelf, the loops are closed and picked up again at the beginning of the 2nd shelf (Fig. 6). If the jacket starts from the back, then from the neckline both sticks are knitted separately (Fig. 7).

3. How to cast on stitches for dolman sleeves

Moving from the front, resp. back, to the sleeves (or vice versa), you should cast on several loops in one row.
These loops can be added by knitting each subsequent loop from the previous one.
At the end of the row, before increasing, make a crossed yarnover and turn the work.
* Insert the right knitting needle into the yarn over, knit a knit stitch and leave it on the knitting needle (Fig. 8).

Using the left knitting needle, remove the crossed loop; to do this, insert it into the loop from right to left (Fig. 9).

Repeat knitting from * until the number of loops required for the job is cast on the knitting needle, then continue knitting on all loops (Fig. 10).

4. In what order to knit the product

If you are doing a pattern with dolman sleeves, then it is important to know the sequence of knitting individual sections; this is usually indicated in the instructions. Let's give two examples.
If pullover starts from the bottom edge of the front(Fig. 11), then first knit the front with sleeves to the front neck (red section), then separately each side to the back neck (yellow and green sections), then do the back (blue section) and end with sleeve cuffs (purple section).

If jacket starts from the sleeve(Fig. 12), then first knit the sleeve to the beginning of the neck (red section) and then the back to the end of the neck (yellow section), then finish the 1st front (green section), start the 2nd front and knit it to the end of the neck (blue section), finish the product with a sleeve cuff (purple section). Then tie the elastic bands of the shelves and back (orange area).

Instructions

A little short of reaching the middle of the shoulder, close the loops on the neck. Find the middle of the knitting and mark it somehow or just remember it. Set aside 1/4 of the neck circumference or the size of the neckline you would like to get in the end. Mark these points too.

Start the row from one of the sleeves, work to the first mark and bind off the loops intended for the neck on one side of the middle and on the other. Remember their number. Knit a row along the second sleeve. If you closed the neckline strictly along the middle line of the shoulder, pick up the loops in the next row. From the beginning of the sleeve, knit to the neckline, make a set of loops and continue the row along the second sleeve.

Decrease the loops on the sleeves in the same order in which you added them. That is, if the sleeve is straight, knit quietly to the bottom of the armhole, and then immediately close the loops on both sides so that only those from which you will knit the front remain on the knitting needles. In the second case, close the loops gradually, not forgetting to try on new sleeve sections to the existing ones.

Product with "flying" sleeve mouse"does not necessarily have a straight horizontal neckline. It can be with a clasp or with a V-shaped neckline. In this case, it is more convenient to start with the part that does not have a clasp. Before the neckline, knit in exactly the same way as in the previous method. But after To do this, you will first have to knit one half to the end of the fastener, and then the other.

Dress or sweater "flying" mouse"You can start knitting from the cuff. First, knit the cuff itself, then knit the sleeve, gradually adding loops on both sides. You can expand it right away. The main thing is to remember how you did it, because you need to lower the loops on the second sleeve in the same ok.

Knit to the side seam. Add loops at the same time from the front and back sides. Work straight to the neckline, then divide the work. Slip one part of the loops onto a thread, and continue knitting the second to the end of the neckline. Then return to the second piece, tie them to the second edge of the neckline and connect the pieces. When you reach the second side seam, decrease stitches in the same order as you added them. Try to maintain symmetry as much as possible.

Description of knitting a bat pullover

Attention! The pullover is knitted in one piece.

For the lower edge of the front part, cast on 52 (56) stitches on needles No. 6.5, knit 2 rows with garter stitch and knit with patent mesh.

After 14 cm from the start of work, add 1 loop on both sides for side bevels, then in every 8th row 7 times 1 loop, you get 68 (72) loops.

Then cast on both sides for the sleeves in each 2nd row 4 times 1 loop, 7 times 2 loops, 3 times 4 loops and 2 times 5 loops, we got 148 (152) loops.

Include added loops in the pattern.

After 48 cm from the start of work, loosely close the middle 8 loops of the neckline and then knit separately, closing 1 loop along the edges of the neckline in each 2nd row 6 times, you get 64 (66) loops.

After 56 cm from the start of work, mark the line of the shoulders.

To cut out the back neckline, cast on 20 stitches between the fronts and knit symmetrically on all 148 (152) stitches.

Assembly: for the cuffs, cast on 34 stitches along the edges of the sleeves on knitting needles No. 5.5 and knit with an elastic band, starting in the 1st purl row with the edge, 1 knit, 2 purl, ending with 2 purl, 1 knit, edge.

After 12 cm, close the loops.

For the collar, cast on 60 stitches on circular needles along the edge of the neckline and knit 20 cm with an elastic band, then bind off the loops loosely.

Sew side seams and sleeves.
