The Russian version of the Spice Girls has been on stage for over twenty years. And all these years, not a single more or less significant party or big concert was complete without “brilliant” girls. Getting into the group “Brilliant” was the dream of girls who knew how to move beautifully and understood notes. The popular girl group has established itself as one of the sexiest projects on the domestic stage.

The idea to create a girl group came to the tandem of producers Andrei Grozny and Andrei Shlykov in 1995. The first lineup was a trio: her friends Polina Iodis and Varvara Koroleva. Two years later, the girls released their debut album. It was then that the first changes occurred in the composition. Varvara, having been a professional athlete before “Brilliant,” returned to sports and took up rock climbing. She came to replace her.

In 2007, with a difference of several months, three soloists left the group at once: Anna Semenovich - in March, Ksenia Novikova - in May and Yulia Kovalchuk - in December. However, “Brilliant” managed to perform during the filming of a concert on Channel One. Natalya Asmolova joined the lineup, but lasted only seven months. All this time, the producers did not show the girl the contract and in the end they never signed it.

Asmolova was replaced by Zhanna's younger sister. The girl didn’t last even a year in “Brilliant.” Officially, her departure was explained by her desire to continue her education. In fact, Andrei Shlykov admitted that Natalya did not want to “plow like Zhanna.”

Semenovich was replaced by a former lead singer of the Strelki group and a friend of a famous tennis player. In the fall, the radio premiered a new version of the song “Like a Star,” recorded with the participation of Yulia Kovalchuk, Nadezhda Ruchka and Anastasia Osipova.

In 2008, following the results of a casting held with the support of LOVE Radio, new participants were selected - Anna Dubovitskaya and Nadezhda Kondratyeva. However, the latter never became a soloist. In June, Natalia Friske’s place was taken by Yulianna Lukasheva. Yulianna participated in the filming of the video and recording of the album “Odnoklassniki”. At the end of 2008, the group shot the video “You Know, Darling.” Lukasheva left the team in 2009 of her own free will. Dubovitskaya worked in the group until 2011.

At the Golden Gramophone in November 2009, “Brilliant” performed with the participation of Marina Berezhnaya. Marina got into the group by accident - she came along with a friend. With her arrival, the atmosphere in the group, previously clouded by frequent changes in composition, became kinder. The girls recorded such popular songs as “Green Eyes”, “Love”, “My Darling”.

In June 2011, Ksenia Novikova returned from maternity leave, and Anna Dubovitskaya went on the same leave in October. In the fall of 2012, Ksenia recorded the song “I Want to Forget You So Much,” making it clear that she wanted to pursue a solo career.

In the summer of 2015, Anastasia Osipova left the group, but not for the sake of a solo career, as is usually the case. Nastya is the official representative of the NEAUVIA Organic cosmetic brand. Ksenia Novikova left Blestyashchie again, this time for good.

In June 2017, it was Nadezhda Ruchka’s turn to go on maternity leave. The singer said that she does not intend to return to the group.

Music

There are many opinions in the assessment and criticism of the “Brilliant” group. As soon as they named the girls, their costumes, plastic movements, songs. But the girls have achieved that light dance music can not only be listened to, but also “watched”.

The arranger of several songs was the musician of the group “Disco Accident”. The videos were shot by popular directors and video makers and Roman Prygunov, while the debut and only album of the first line-up, “There, Only There,” was recorded in the producer’s apartment.

The music and lyrics for “Brilliant” were written by famous authors - Denis Kovalsky, Katya Rakova, Christian Ray. Actually, after Christian delved into the study of religion, the producer of his group “MF 3” Andrei Grozny decided to create a women’s group.

The song “And I kept flying” was used as a soundtrack to the film “Night Watch”. Music critic and expert Alexey Mazhaev called it “a real, one hundred percent, impeccable hit.”

The 2000 album “About Love” is duplicated in a limited edition deluxe edition containing a CD in a slipcase and a booklet. The producers did the same with the album “Beyond the Four Seas,” released in 2002.

The video “Oriental Tales,” released in 2005, caused a wave of indignation among some followers of Islam. On the one hand, the video was called depraved. Other experts urged not to drag pop music into issues of religious morality.

In 2008, the album “Odnoklassniki” was released, which, according to some critics, is better to buy rather than download on the Internet. This collection contained the group's singles over 15 years, covered by 12 members.

In January 2010, the single “Ball” was released, for which a video was later shot. In November of the same year - a new song “Morning”. Over the next three years, the audience will be presented with the songs “From What,” “Birthday,” “To the Equator,” “Lose” and a video of the same name for the latter.

In February 2015, the premiere of the song “Don’t Give Me to Anyone” took place; in October 2015, the video “Brigade of Painters” was presented. The audience saw the new cast of “Brilliant” - Nadya Ruchka, Marina Berezhnaya, Silvia Zolotova and Kristina Illarionova.

The former soloists of “Brilliant”, who left the group for a solo career, with the exception of Zhanna, did not achieve significant success comparable to the group. But they realized something else. Ksenia Novikova, who went through forced separation from her children, created the “Our Meaning of Life” charity foundation. The Foundation promotes the protection of the rights and interests of the family, motherhood, fatherhood and childhood. Yulia Kovalchuk, Nastya Osipova and Nadya Ruchka are happy in their families and have become mothers. Olga Orlova became a TV presenter.

When asked why she would not return to the group, Ruchka replied that after 13 years she had become disillusioned with the project, the producers had no ideas, they had stopped making videos with cool cameramen and makeup artists.

By the way, the former makeup artist of “Brilliant” and friend of Zhanna Friske, Ksenia Stepanova, is credited with a close relationship with. According to Zhanna's father, Dmitry and Ksenia live under the same roof.

History of the group "Brilliant"

The first line-up of the group, created by producer Andrei Grozny and Andrei Shlykov, looked like this: Olga Orlova, Polina Iodis, Varvara Queen.

The group's debut album was released in 1997 and was called “There, Only There.” This was also the name of the first song that the first fans of the group heard performed by “Brilliant”. Dancer Varvara Queen Immediately after the release of the first album, she left the group. In her place came: Zhanna Friske and Irina Lukyanova. In the same year, an album of remixes of the group was released: “There, only there (remixes).”

Officially, Zhanna Friske became the lead singer of the group in May 1997, when they shot the second video for the song “Flowers.” Before this, Zhanna was the artistic director of the group.

In 1998, “Brilliant” released the album “Simply Dreams”. Almost immediately after this, Polina Iodis left, and in 1999, the lead singer of the youth group “Class” Ksenia Novikova joined the group. The group records the singles “Winter will come after autumn” and “Ciao, bambina!”, for which a video is being filmed.

At first, TV channels refused to put the video “Ciao, bambina!” in rotation. due to the fact that he was quite outspoken by 2000 standards.

“Thanks to “Brilliant,” I not only met famous Russian beauties, but also learned what real winter is! I remember how I came to Moscow to promote the “Oriental Tales” video; in addition, we had planned performances at the Golden Gramophone Awards, MTV Music Awards and some other concerts in the Kremlin. I flew to Moscow in December wearing a light jacket. Imagine, I got off the plane, and it was minus 20 outside! I was in shock, and my body didn’t understand what was happening to it (laughs). In 2005, the group took part in the MTV channel program “Full Contact”, where they competed with the group “VIA Gra”, but failed to win. On June 7 and 8, the filming of the “Palms in Couples” video took place, the plot of which was a Playboy beach party in the style of the 1960s. In November 2006, the premiere of the “Agent 007” video took place.

At the beginning of 2007, another bright soloist left the group. Instead of Anna Semenovich in the group - Anastasia Osipova. With the updated lineup, which lasted only 2 months, the group re-recorded the single “Agent 007”, performed on the “Woman’s Riot” show, recorded a new version of the single “Oriental Tales” and performed at the MTV Film Awards with “The Song of Babok Yozhek”. At the MTV RMA awards ceremony in October 2007, Blestyashchiye presented a gift to all their fans: former and current members of the group appeared on stage. The first composition of the group "Brilliant"

In 1995, Andrei Grozny was so inspired by the success of the American group “Space Girls” that he decided to create a girl group. He didn’t have to look for a vocalist for long - he already had Olga Orlova in mind. A beautiful brown-haired woman with a gentle voice suggested that the producer take her friend Polina Iodis into the team, who did not have good vocals, but looked very harmonious in the frame. The third place was the talented dancer Varvara Koroleva. Two blondes and vociferous Olga became a spectacular trio and shot the first video for the song “There, Only There.”

After the release of their debut album, the group lost one member - Varvara left to build a personal life. Irina Lukyanova was taken in her place. The red-haired beauty with big eyes quickly got used to both touring and the hectic life on wheels.

At the end of 1996, an artistic director appeared in the group. The fatal brunette Zhanna Friske came to choreograph numbers for the girls and take on all the responsibilities for organizing the concert. In 1998, Polina left the team. She was always interested in extreme sports, to which she devoted her life after leaving the Blestyashchie group. The lineup was replenished with a former member of the “Class” group. The very young Ksenia Novikova found herself in the hottest time - she just had to shoot a video for the song “Ciao, bambino!” This composition became an all-Russian hit after Alexey Ryzhov made a remix. The clip turned out to be very frank, so it was not released on the big screen for a long time. Unfortunately, Olga Orlova was not able to fully enjoy her success. Due to pregnancy, she had to leave the Brilliant group. The girl’s name and photo often appeared on the pages of newspapers and magazines: there were rumors that she was kicked out of the team for hiding her interesting position. With a reduced lineup, the group toured until 2001.

The fourth “brilliant” girl is Yulia Kovalchuk. Without having outstanding external characteristics or a strong voice, she still occupies a vacant position for a long time. The next two years were eventful: Irina Lukyanova left the group and the textured Anna Semenovich was taken in her place. The former figure skater amazes the entire male population of the CIS with her forms. Her modest vocals do not confuse the producer - the effect is achieved not only due to her ringing voice. New losses

At the end of 2003, Zhanna Friske announced her retirement. She sets off to build a solo career, and she does it very well, unlike Olga Orlova. In place of the “little little one” they take the no less spectacular Nadya Ruchka. Soon two hits will be released at once - “Agent 007” and “Oriental Tales”. These are the last compositions of the group that became hits. In March 2007, Semenovich left the team, and in May, Ksenia Novikova left. Their places are taken by Natalia Asmolova and Anastasia Osipova. The first was unable to find a language with the team and three months later ended her collaboration with Andrei Grozny, and Zhanna’s younger sister, Natasha Friske, was taken in her place. However, after six months she also leaves the group. Kovalchuk also leaves with her.

Fresh faces

This time the producer needed to find two performers at once. He announces the casting and accepts Anna Dubovitskaya and Yulianna Lukasheva. The group did not achieve much success with this lineup. In 2009, Yulianna gives her place to Ksenia Novikova, who decided to return to the stage after a divorce. A year later, Anna Dubovitskaya left the group. Asmolova takes her place. Soon another soloist appears - Marina Berezhnaya. In 2015, Novikova decides to finally say goodbye to the composition of the “Brilliant” group.

Osipova and Asmolova leave behind her. From that moment to this day, the team has three singers - Nadya Ruchka, Silvia Zolotova and Kristina Illarionova. Despite the fact that the group has not released hits for a long time, “Brilliant” are always welcome guests at any group concert. They mostly perform old hits, for which they still receive awards.

History of creation

The first to join the group was 18-year-old Olga Orlova - she was recommended to the producers by the lead singer of the once popular group “MF-3” Christian Ray, in whose video high school student Olga had starred shortly before.

Orlova invited Grozny to take her friends into the group, dancer Varvara Korolev and Polina Iodis, who at that time was studying in Moscow at the Faculty of Law and left the institute for the sake of the group. Olga performed as the soloist of the group, while the rest of the girls worked mainly as backup dancers.

For the first 2 years, even Russian musicians, not to mention listeners, did not know the girls by sight, although the songs from their debut album “There, Only There” were very popular. The artists began to be recognized after the release of the first videos at the end of 1996-beginning of 1997: by that time, “Brilliant” had undergone the first changes in its composition - Varvara decided to leave the group and devote herself to her family.

Koroleva was replaced by 20-year-old art college graduate Irina Lukyanova. Then 21-year-old Zhanna Friske was invited to the group as artistic director. The producers invited the journalism student to select outfits and choreograph numbers for the group members, but in mid-1997, the charismatic Zhanna became the fourth member of the girl band.

With this composition, “Brilliant” existed for 2 years, achieving considerable popularity. Their hits “Clouds”, “Cha-cha-cha” and “Where are you, where?” sounded from every radio, and the video for the song “Flowers” ​​was regularly played on the most famous music channels. At the end of 1998, Polina Iodis announced her departure from the team, deciding to devote herself to extreme sports. Today the girl is one of the founders of the Federation and the Russian Surfing Championship and has been living in Bali for several years.

1999-2002

Meanwhile, a remix of the hit, created with the participation of Alexei Ryzhov, a member of the group “Disco Accident,” was heard in all discos in the country, and the girl band’s album “About Love” was sold out at breakneck speed.

In 2000, due to a conflict with Andrei Grozny, Orlova left the group. The singer was expecting a child, but hid this fact for a long time. As a result, the management told the soloist that they did not need her services. “We ordered a group of beautiful girls, not pregnant mothers,” Olga was told. Pregnant Orlova managed to appear in the video for the song “White Snow,” but a month later the video was remade and all the episodes with the singer were cut out.

In the early 2000s, Zhanna Friske began to engage in solo work, combining her work in “Brilliant”. Suspecting the imminent departure of the lead singer from the group, the producers invited 18-year-old Yulia Kovalchuk, a student at Moscow State Institute of Cinematography, to join the team. Kovalchuk’s debut in the group was the song “Ay-ay,” directed by Roman Prygunov, author of the films “DukhLess” and “DukhLess-2” with Danila Kozlovsky.

2002-2007

In March 2003, Irina found out that she was pregnant, and the doctor gave her a choice: either work or a child. The singer chose the second and left “Brilliant” - later she returned to dancing. In Lukyanova's place they took a former figure skater, 23-year-old Anna Semenovich - the girl interviewed the group, after which she received an offer to become part of it. Together with Semenovich, “Brilliant” released the hit “Orange Song” and the album “Orange Paradise”.

After participating in the extreme reality show “The Last Hero,” Zhanna Friske left the group. Many associate the singer’s departure with the wedding of Andrei the Terrible. Zhanna and the producer once had a short affair, and Grozny even proposed to the singer, but she refused her admirer. “From that moment on, everyone’s personal life went its own way,” says Andrey. Despite this, Grozny and Shlykov remained her producers throughout Friske’s entire creative career.

In 2004, 23-year-old Ukrainian singer Nadezhda Ruchka, who had previously sung in the group “Party” and worked in a casino, joined the group. With the updated lineup, the band recorded the songs “New Year’s Song”, “Palm Trees in Pairs” and “Oriental Tales” (with the Iranian-Swedish singer Arash).

The video for the last song caused a lot of negative reviews - in particular, the chairman of the Islamic Committee of Russia, Heydar Dzhemal, said that the video offends the feelings of Muslims, and the depraved atmosphere of the video has nothing to do with the morality of followers of Islam. Nevertheless, the song became a real hit, and soon “Brilliant” released an album of the same name.

2007-2014

Natalia lasted in the group for only 3 months. She was replaced in “Brilliant” by Friske’s younger sister, Natalya. However, she was able to last only a year in the team - almost simultaneously with her, Kovalchuk left Blestyashchie, whose contract had expired.

At the casting, the producers chose singer Nadezhda Kondratyeva (in the end, she never became a soloist, appearing only once with the group) and dancer Anna Dubovitskaya as replacements for the departing artists. It is interesting that Dubovitskaya’s husband in 2011 became businessman Sergei Anokhin, who at one time met with Novikova and Friske Sr. The members of the group confirmed that many girls liked Anokhin, but this did not bring discord into the group.

In 2008, a bright 18-year-old brunette, vice-world champion in ballroom dancing, Yulianna Lukasheva, came to Blestyashchiye. With her participation, the tracks “Odnoklassniki” and “You Know, Darling” were recorded and the collection “Odnoklassniki” with old hits covered was released.

In November 2009, Yulianna left the group and was replaced by Marina Berezhnaya with “very fashionable r’n’b vocals and outstanding appearance.” In mid-2011, Ksenia Novikova returned to the group from maternity leave, and at the same time began working on solo projects.

2014–2017

At this time, storm clouds were gathering over the ex-soloist of the group, Zhanna Friske. A woman who recently gave birth to a son was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in her brain. She bravely fought the disease for 2 years. Money for the treatment of the people's favorite was collected with the help of Channel One. We managed to collect more than 60 million rubles; but even the doctors of an elite American clinic could not save the singer. In the summer of 2015, Zhanna Friske died. Olga Orlova, who until the last hours of her life was next to Zhanna, experienced the loss the hardest.

In October 2015, the composition of “Brilliant” was replenished with Silvia Zolotova and Kristina Illarionova, graduates of the construction college. In December 2016, on the occasion of the band’s 20th anniversary, the group released the collection “Best 20”. In the summer of 2017, there were again three members in the group - Nadezhda Ruchka, who had long been suspected of having an affair with Alexander Marshal, went on maternity leave after her wedding to businessman Denis Boyarko. Nadya announced that she would not return to “Brilliant”.

In 2017, the girls released three singles “Red Girl”, “Sun” and “This is Love”, as well as a video for the last song, which was filmed in Portugal. The group actively tours, performs in clubs and takes part in concerts.
