How to draw a glass jar with a pencil step by step. Decor of cans from different materials and trendy design ideas

Autumn is the season of harvesting and preparing all sorts of canned goodies for the winter. The most favorite “autumn” fruit of this period is, of course, the apple. But besides eating it, you can also use it in creativity. Yes, it is precisely in creativity that it can become the main tool for creating a future masterpiece. This time we will create and “cook” the most delicious compote of apples and currants using paints and stamps. So let's get started..

60 minutes

about 80-100 rub.

COMPLEXITY

easily

To create a “fruit compote” we will need:

  1. Sheet of watercolor paper A4
  2. Gouache
  3. Brush No. 18 synthetic or kolinsky
  4. Jar of water
  5. Palette
  6. Scissors
  7. Cotton buds
  8. Yellow paper napkin
  9. Satin ribbon
  10. Apples 4 - 6 pcs.
  11. Jar template
  12. A simple pencil.
  13. Black marker

The very first thing we need to do is a template cut out from any newspaper that we don’t mind. The template for the three-liter jar itself can be downloaded here and printed on A4 sheet. We draw our jar of compote on the newspaper or, using the downloaded template, and cut it out. Then we place our finished template on a sheet of A4 watercolor paper in the middle and trace it.

Then, having prepared gouache paints, a palette, a brush and a jar for water, we completely paint our jar of compote with one color (composed of red, yellow and white). We are waiting for our painted “can” to dry.

Take apples, preferably small ones, and cut them into two halves. Apply gouache paint to half an apple using a brush; you can use several colors at once (for example, one half of the apple is red, the other is yellow, etc.). Add very little water so that the gouache has a thick consistency, like sour cream.

And then we apply the apple, with the side where the paint is, to our jar and press it and make an imprint on it. The apple becomes a stamp, creating a masterpiece before our eyes. If it turned out unclear. You can add paint and repeat the print in the same place.

We print as many apples as needed for our delicious “fruit compote”.

We fill the space between the apples with clusters of red and black currants. In order to draw currants we will need cotton swabs. It is with their help that, by loading the stick into the paint, we make a point in the right place. Making up a whole bunch of currants from dots. Draw as many currants as you want.

Our next step will be to draw with a black marker the tails and stems and seeds of the apples, and also the eyes of the red currants.

We draw “eyes” on black currants using white gouache and a thin brush.

When the work is completely ready. We cut out our finished jar of fruit compote, right according to its silhouette. The final touch is to “put” a napkin on the lid of our jar and tie a ribbon.

Our jar of “fruit compote” is ready!

Decorating jars can be done using many techniques. Several techniques can be applied to one jar at the same time, combining them into a harmonious ensemble. To make the product neat and beautiful, you need to put in a lot of effort and spend a lot of time on work. You can use any decorative materials and methods of attaching them, but before that you should consider the design of the can and its further functionality.

Preparation before work

Before you start directly decorating the jars with your own hands, you should think through all the nuances that relate to this procedure. Preparation consists of several main stages:

  • First, naturally, the workplace is prepared. Usually this is a table whose surface is covered with film or newspapers.
  • Depending on the types of materials that will have to be worked with, containers and storage containers are prepared.
  • Selection of material for decoration. This list will depend on the type of finish. In most cases, a means is required to attach decorative elements to the surface of the can. It's better to use a glue gun.
  • Additional means are selected to clean the surface of the cans. For metal ones it can be sandpaper, for glass - acetone, clay ones are not specially treated.

The choice of all materials and the cans themselves depends on where and how the finished decorative product will be used. It is also important to think about the design of the containers. It can first be embodied on paper, and only then transferred directly to the surface.

Decoration of tin cans

The decor of tin jars is considered the simplest. This item can be used to decorate a kitchen, hallway or corridor. Since tin cans are quite durable and practically not subject to mechanical damage, they are often used as flowerpots outdoors.

The decor of the jar begins with its preparation:

1. Using pliers and a file, remove sharp edges where the cover is cut.

2. Using a nail or drill, make several holes in the bottom so that when watering, excess water can pour out.

3. Use sandpaper to remove the factory paint from the surface.

4. Buy plastic or clay saucers in accordance with the diameter of the container, if the jars will stand. When placed vertically, such an element is not needed.

Banks made from this material are usually painted with facade paint, although regular paint can also be used. Painting can be a solid color or using stencils. The container can be decorated with additional elements: beads, ribbons and glass, twigs, bark and wire.

To be able to hang the jar, you can make a handbag out of macrame-style threads or use regular wire to make a handle like on a bucket.

Such products are used as organizers for pencils and pens, towels in the bathroom, small screws and nails in the shed. Decorated tin cans are often used as candlesticks. To do this, holes are punched in the body of the container in the form of a pattern.

Decorating glass jars

The decor of a glass jar is more varied; moreover, this product has a wider range of uses compared to its tin counterpart. Since the shapes, sizes and colors of glass jars can be varied, the methods of use are correspondingly different.

Storage for spices

Small jars, such as baby food, can be reused for spices. It is better to decorate jars for the kitchen with your own hands in a minimalist style so that the decorative elements do not fall off and fall into the food.

First, the factory label along with the sticky glue is removed from the glass. You can make your own decorative sticker from paper or you can paint it directly on the jar with paints. After this, you should decorate the lid. Most often, decoupage technique is used for this. But you can also paint the surface or cover it with gift paper.

For cosmetics and bath accessories

Larger jars are used to make containers for bathrooms and decorative cosmetics. Often, the decor of the cans in this case is minimal and concerns mostly the lids. It is decorated with beads that serve as handles. For a more romantic style, the container itself can be decorated.

The most common decorative elements are ribbons, beads or beads, and combined weaving of them is also possible. Often the entire jar is simply sprinkled with glitter and opened with colorless varnish.

An interesting option is to decorate a glass jar using the dot painting technique. The result is very impressive.

Jar as a candlestick

Often candlesticks or vases are made from such fragile jars. Making such a product is very simple. Since in both the first and second cases the product is subjected to use in extreme conditions, the only correct solution would be artistic coloring.

All kinds of patterns and designs are created with acrylic paints; in extreme cases, it can even be nail polish.

These are the main areas of application for decorative glass jars, but their number can be easily increased. The main thing is to think about the conditions under which the product will be used in order to select the appropriate decoration technique.

Trendy decorating ideas

In addition to the standard DIY decoration of jars, non-etching methods of decorating them are often used. Recently, natural and organic materials have become increasingly popular, which, at least in a minimal amount, simply must be present in the interior of the room.

One such material is textiles, in particular burlap. With its help, you can create stunning compositions on any surface, and jars made of any material are no exception. You can sew decorative covers, flowers from burlap and glue them to the surface, just wrap the container around the perimeter.

Additional decoration can include: cereals, coffee beans, beans, twigs and much more. Similar to burlap, knitting thread can be used.

Another interesting solution in the field of decorating jars was the vine. In addition to its aesthetic value, it also protects the jars from mechanical stress. Thanks to the wicker weaving technique, you can create a variety of compositions in the form of covers and cocoons, which can additionally be decorated or painted with other colors, forming an interesting pattern.

Steps

  1. 1 Draw an ellipse to make the lid.
  2. 2 Sketch a similar ellipse slightly lower than the first one to make the bottom and inner lid.
  3. 3 Draw a slightly larger ellipse under the lid to represent the widest part of the can.
  4. 4 Draw a vertical line from each edge of the larger ellipse to create the sides of the can.
  5. 5 Draw another half ellipse by connecting two vertical lines to create the base of the can.
  6. 6 Draw the smaller half of the ellipse to create the bottom of the can.
  7. 7 Add the remaining parts for the lid.
  8. 8 Add additional embellishments and outline the design.
  9. 9 Erase the sketches and color the sketch. If necessary, indicate the brand of soda.
  • Don't use a pencil that is too cheap. Cheap pencils (graphite) usually contain many impurities that interfere with the creation of a good sketch.
  • Don't try too hard to draw deep, precise lines on paper. Light, sweeping movements of a pencil (or pen) give good results. In drawing, less is often more.
  • Try different types of paper. Sketching paper is often where a lot of the fun comes in. Heavier, more textured paper encourages more interaction between the pencil and the surface. This creates great results!
  • Alternative shading techniques include using straight lines to create curves. This is a method for advanced people and is best left for later!
  • Try drawing a crumpled can when you can draw a simple can without any problems. Wrinkled metal, shiny and matte contrasts will be fun to display!

Warnings

  • Once your brain understands how to do it, you will want to draw all the time. Any blank piece of paper can become a potential victim.

What you will need

  • Can of soda (optional)
  • pencil
  • paper
  • eraser (optional if you made a lot of mistakes)

Jar of jam can be depicted in several ways at once. There is a very simple option that even a child can handle. There are very complex options, with the correct application of shadows - this, of course, is for professionals.

Let's use the simple method. We need to take a white sheet of paper and a well-sharpened pencil. Then we need to decide on the size and shape of the jar. You can draw a jar on the entire sheet. For example, we do this: first we draw a rectangle, then we smooth its corners a little. The next stage is to slightly extend the rectangle at the top and create a neck. Next we need to make a lid. But just drawing a lid is not interesting). We will draw a jar, like from grandma's stock. That is, we draw such a lid with frills. In the figure they will be depicted like this: in the upper part of the neck of the jar we draw a wave and connect it to the lid. But, of course, the drawing will not be completely finished if the jam is not visible in the jar.

If, for example, the jam is cherry, then you can draw several cherries on the jar and color them and the entire tone in burgundy tones. If you ate sea buckthorn jam, you can draw small berries. In general, to make the jar of jam more colorful, it is still better to color the design with paints.

You can draw a jar of jam or a glass jar with a pencil step by step like this:

The drawing steps include the following:

    1) First we draw the contours of the can:

    2) Then add the lid:

    3) And after that the sticker and internal contents:

Drawing a glass container for jam - a jar, is very simple. Let's look at an example of step-by-step drawing:

Our jar is ready. All that remains is to fill it with jam and stick a label on it. There are many more options for drawing a jar of jam; they are drawn according to the same template; the shape of the jar can be changed as you like. For example, here is the standard form:

Here are some pictures of jam jars for inspiration:

It's not difficult to draw a jar of jam. I advise you to take this picture as a basis and try to draw it exactly the same way.

Next, we draw an arc from below, thus shaping the bottom of the jar, then draw a label on the jar itself. By the way, you can simply make an inscription in the form of jam, or you can draw berries. That's all, all that remains is to color this work of art.

If you paint, it is better to do it as shown in this very photo.

Even if you are not an artist and use a pencil only for picking or gnawing on it during stress, you should know how to draw a jar. Firstly, a child may ask you for this, and secondly, no one is immune from the design of wall newspapers at a summer camp, school or even at work. And it’s just difficult in life without minimal design skills. So, let's stock up on pencils, paper and paints. And go ahead!

With bright lid

Before you draw a jar with a pencil, make sure that you have everything for this: paper, a simple pencil, and also a multi-colored one to make the lid more realistic. Do not need anything else. Let's get started.

Make a sketch with a pencil of a different color. You should now have a cylinder. On its upper plane (ellipse) we draw another ellipse. This will be his cover.

Give the cylinder the shape of a can. We outline the cylinder with a pencil, making the top two ellipses slightly smaller than it. This will be the lid. The angle between the cylinder and the ellipses is slightly rounded and smoothed. These will be the “hangers” of our jar.

The lid is the easiest step. We simply shade the space between the two ellipses. We paint the lower part of the picture, thus marking the table on which our vessel stands.

Now all that remains is to paint the lid with a bright color. To prevent the picture from being flat, lightly paint over its upper outline.

Black and white example

Another option is how to draw a jar step by step. It is a little simpler than the previous one, but with honey.

In order to imitate a metal lid, draw a horizontal ellipse elongated to the sides. To depict the sides of the lid, draw a concave downward line from one edge to the next in its lower part. In the middle we write another oval, but do not complete it.

We sketch out a container for honey. It's just a square, or rather a rectangle with smooth corners. In the middle we make another square.

In the square in the center, write the word “honey”.

With cookies

Here we will learn how to draw a glass jar, not just a simple one, but with cookies inside. To make it attractive, stock up on colored pencils.

First we draw the container itself. To do this, we write a square, slightly elongated upward, so a rectangle. Its corners are also smoothed. The lid is triangular, topped with a small circle.

Let's make the filling. In the center of the rectangle we enter another one, with clearer corners. We draw uneven circles and ellipses around. These are cookies. In a small rectangle we write the word “cookies”.

Let's color it. This is the simplest thing. The inscription can be made bright, and so can the cookies. Be sure to put dark dots - raisins or chocolate.

Nutella jar

First, sketch out a rectangle elongated slightly upward. You need this figure in order to draw a jar of Nutella extremely realistically. Corners should be rounded. In its upper part, the base should be similar to the base of a triangle. This design is crowned with another rectangle - very narrow and with horizontal lines concave downwards. An ellipse stretched to the sides is drawn on top.

We draw the upper rectangle with vertical lines. We draw horizontal lines in the lower and upper parts of the lower rectangle. Here's the label. In the lower part we depict a smiling face: in the corners there are small ovals (“cheeks”) elongated to the sides, next to each - along the upper part of the circle. Another semicircle, or rather, the lower part of the circle is in the middle.

Let's color it. Color the parts of the square on both sides of the label brown. We paint the cheeks pink. We sign the label in black and red, like the original Nutella.

With jam

Before you draw a jar of jam, stock up on pink pencils.

Again we draw a square with rounded corners, but without the top. We draw an ellipse a little higher. There are two lines on both sides, and a wavy line in between. This is how we got the fabric covering the jam.

We depict the “paper for inscriptions” in the center of the vessel as a horizontal rectangle. Here we enter the word Jam.

Coloring. We color the fabric with a gray checkered pattern. The rest of the jam container is pink, leaving only the label white.

You can see for yourself that being an artist is not particularly difficult. The main thing is to enjoy the amazing process.
