Justification of social significance

Kostroma folk crafts and traditions have deep historical roots. Nowadays, culture is divorced from its original Slavic roots. Slavic culture is preserved only in museums, in collections of antiquities, in libraries, including in the surviving individual centers where various types of folk art are supported, but not in the hearts of the Russian people. The problem of root loss is becoming increasingly alarming.
In this regard, it is especially important to preserve traditions and folk crafts from childhood. Centers of traditional folk art play an important role in the preservation of Russian folk crafts in the Kostroma region and the revival of national culture; one of such institutions is the House of Kostroma Crafts.
Preserving the heritage of our ancestors, the House of Kostroma Crafts contributes to the revival of folk crafts, uniting craftsmen within its walls, organizing holidays and fairs of folk crafts.
In the old days, people paid attention to how their children played with dolls. So, if the children were diligently busy playing with dolls, then the family will be strong and good. However, the Russian play doll did not play a major role in people's lives. The main attention was paid to dolls in rituals. Russian dolls played major roles in festive and everyday folk rituals, in the traditions of the Slavs. These were ritual, protective dolls.
It was impossible to imagine the life of the people without rituals with national costumes, without folk art and folklore, without holidays and festivities. It is also impossible to imagine without the folk dolls that accompanied all this. As a rule, ancient Russian dolls were made from what was at hand. Straw, trees, branches, pieces of fabric, ropes, dry grass, moss - all these were materials for the manufacture of folk crafts.
Almost every Russian hut had traditional folk dolls. From generation to generation, the people passed on their traditions and experience. This is how wonderful craftswomen appeared in Rus', and with their creativity they developed and continued the original art of puppetry.
In the Kostroma region, traditional ritual dolls are revered; it is not for nothing that one of the most famous is named Kostroma. Each doll carries a certain meaning: for family well-being, for the birth of children, for marriage, for health, for the harvest. The traditional doll is the guardian of goodness, peace, faith and hope. By creating a doll with his own hands, the master is charged with the energy of the ritual and it is believed that everything planned will come true.

"at VDNKh. In many ways, the event was nominal in nature, since it was organized more for the mayor of Moscow Sergei Sobyanin than for the citizens: some of the premises were rented out only on June 17, and some of them remained empty. Nevertheless, the new zone of the country’s main exhibition included public workshops, manufactories, fairs and a farmers’ market, and residents of the site were selected through a specially organized competition.

Finding the “Crafts Park” is not difficult: it is located near pavilion No. 32 “Cosmos” and consists of three zones - the “House of Crafts”, the “Dymov Ceramics” pavilion and the “Farmeria” market. The Village visited the opening of the new space and explored how you can spend your time there.

"House of Crafts"

In pavilion No. 47 “Pig Breeding” the “House of Crafts” was opened, where, in addition to a small hall with chairs (serves as a lecture hall), there are seven spaces of different directions. These are a coffee laboratory, Olesya Shevchuk’s cheese making school, the Avoska store, the Mai-Mai flower shop, a glass workshop and school, a workshop of the Uniquely architecture and furniture and interior design studio, as well as the SM-47 carpentry workshop.

In the coffee laboratory of the SmartCoffee project from the co-founder of the network DoubleB Olga Melik-Karakozova can taste coffee-based drinks and watch the roasters at work. On weekdays they plan to conduct trainings for industry professionals, and on weekends they will communicate with amateurs: organize master classes and lectures. However, the site does not yet have a schedule or prices. According to Olga, the team has only recently moved into the territory and is still keeping an eye on the visitors. SmartCoffee also plans to open a coffee shop.
