We also had a lesson on drawing - however, this is a completely different species. When drawing plants, we try to make them as realistic and beautiful as possible. So, at the same time we applied probably the most complex shadows of all our lessons. By the way, the shadow will also be present on our guest today. Let's start the lesson and learn how to draw a strawberry!

Step 1

First, we outline the contours of the berries and the lines that will later become the central veins of the main leaves. Our entire drawing will be at the top of the sheet. In terms of composition, focus on the central berry - it is the largest and closest to us. So, this berry is in the center of the entire composition - if you draw a vertical line of symmetry through the entire leaf, then this line will divide not only the leaf, but also the berry itself into two equal parts.

Another berry is located very close to the central berry - so much so that the central one covers a significant part of it. The last berry is strongly shifted to our right; it is located significantly higher than the central one and is located at the edge of the leaf.

Step 2

Let's work on the leaves. Using the lines outlined in the last step, we will draw the leaf to the left of us, give it a jagged outline, and draw veins on one side. Under this leaf we will outline the outline of another berry, then we will draw the outline and veins of another leaf - on the left side of our drawing it will be the tallest. Let's draw a jagged outline of the smallest leaf, which extends from the central berry and partially overlaps the neighboring berry. Draw a stem line from the central berry.

Let's move on to the right side of the picture. Let's outline the cuttings of the berries (by the way, the same needs to be done for the central berry), draw the contours of the leaves and draw the veins inside the top leaf.

Step 3

During the ripening period of strawberries, already ripe fruits can be on the same branch with flowers that have not yet set. And in our drawing exactly this phenomenon occurs, so immediately behind the central berry you need to outline the stem and three small shoots that extend from it. In the next step, we will place a small one on each of these processes.

But we got ahead of ourselves - first we will draw the stalk of the central berry and outline the three stems that visually extend from it. On the left side of the drawing, draw a jagged outline of the leaf. Under the berry, behind which this leaf is hidden, draw a stem and stalk that is bifurcated at the top but converging at the bottom.

On the right side of the picture we will outline the outline of a high-lying leaf.

Step 4

Let's draw three sheets on the right side of the picture, or rather, outline their contours with a jagged line. Then let's move to the center and draw two buds and one flower, which should be located on the previously outlined shoots behind the central berry.

Now let's move on to the berries themselves. Let's first cover them with small circles of seeds, and then apply shadows. For now, we will only apply shadows to two berries located on our left side. And the shadows themselves will be applied in several stages, of which this is the simplest. At this stage we paint the rough, contrasting, darkest areas. It is best to do this in two stages - first we outline the outline of the shadow, and then shade it crosswise, preferably 2B. I think many of our readers will immediately remember the comic style of applying shadows, as, for example, in the drawing lesson. But the difference is that the comic style involves stopping at this stage, while we will draw all the elements of the shadow.

Yes, we forgot to mention the actual location of the shadows - those present at this stage are formed by the contours of the leaves shading the berries, as well as by the berries themselves, casting a shadow on the stems.

Step 5

In addition to the shadow itself, our plant will also have areas of partial shade and light. We apply the penumbra with very light, barely noticeable strokes, leaving a small spot unpainted - this is what will be the illuminated area.

The penumbra will be located on the two berries we already processed in the last step. Please note that the intensity of the penumbra is uneven, it is very thick at the border with the shadow and is almost invisible at the light spot - this is exactly how penumbra should be applied, it should be a very smooth transition from shadow to light. Pay attention to the area of ​​penumbra, which is located on a narrow leaf covering the second berry from the left edge.

In the same step, we will apply a shadow spot, which is cast by the berry, on the outermost leaf on the left and shade the stems.

Step 6

Let's complete this lesson by applying shadows and penumbraes to the right side of our drawing, as well as to the central berry. Notice that the right side is overall much less shaded than the left, and the actual shadow areas are very small. The penumbra here is even lighter than on the left side of the picture, the only exception is the leaf, on which a fairly thick shadow from the berry falls on the right side of the picture.

One berry

In the first example we will look at a drawing method that shows us how to draw a strawberry with a pencil. Therefore, prepare an eraser, regular and colored pencils and a blank sheet of paper.

This is a very simple example that is suitable for both children and novice artists, because we will depict our drawing in just four simple steps.

The first step is to draw a leaf that connects the bush with the berry. Usually it is not eaten, it is torn off and thrown away.

Now we draw the contours of the berry itself. It has a shape similar to a rounded triangle or heart. If you end up with an uneven shape, that's okay. Walking around the garden, you will find that strawberries grow completely asymmetrically, so in the picture, its right and left sides may be slightly different.

Cover with grains and short pencil strokes. As is the case with the shape of the berry, the grains can differ greatly from each other, have different sizes and directions. If you draw them perfectly straight along the ruler, they will look unnatural. Therefore, you need to draw by hand.

The final step will be coloring. We take a red and green pencil, color the leaf green, and the berry itself red.

Another example of one berry

If the previous drawing method was aimed at artists who draw with a pencil, then this time we will look at how to draw a strawberry step by step using absolutely any tools. You can choose markers, pen, crayons, watercolor paints and more.

We depict an oval and a trapezoid under it. If you draw with felt-tip pens, we recommend that you immediately go to the third picture, since we will have to erase this trapezoid in the future, because it is only an auxiliary element.

Using regular lines, we outline the direction of growth of our leaf. In the future, of course, we will detail them.

Based on the trapezoid that we drew in the first stage, we draw the contours of the strawberry. In other words, we round the edges making them look like a real berry.

We draw the greenery; it should not be too thick and have a rather chaotic shape.

We draw the grains, they look like an elongated oval.

We have come to the most difficult stage in this drawing, coloring. This time we decided to make our strawberry more realistic and put shadows on it. In the next two pictures you can see the boundaries of the shadows.

Prepare colors for strawberries: mix cadmium lemon, quinacridone red and add a little Winsor blue (green tint) for the light green areas at the top of the strawberry; quinacridone red and cadmium lemon for the middle; cadmium red dark and pink persistent for the bottom. Make liquid washes of the mixtures and apply them quickly, starting from the top.

Moisten with water and apply paint. Let them dry.

3. Use a damp brush and paper towel to create highlights. Mark the edges of the strawberry.

Wait for the paint to dry. Peel off the paint to identify the location of each seed. First, gently touch the paper with the end of a damp brush. Blot the paint with a clean napkin or cloth. The paint must be removed cleanly and carefully.

4. Deepen the color with drier paint mixtures. Blur the highlights between the seeds. As before, apply water with the tip of the brush (make sure the brush is not wet). Color the seeds with a mixture of light cadmium yellow and dark cadmium red. Quickly drip the dark green, distributing it over all the leaves. Let dry.

5. Continue applying red, varying the depth of tone and pattern depending on what you see. On small areas, use a dry brush to avoid smearing the paint. Use a dry brush to highlight the veins on the leaves to show texture.
