Design research work on MHK. Topics of research papers and projects on the MHC

Brief annotation

The project method is an integral part of MHC training, because allows students to be active both in school hours and outside of school hours.

The theme of the project "The Word" was chosen taking into account the educational situation in the subject for students of different ages (grades 6-11) for a deeper acquaintance with the spiritual and moral values of Russian art through the study of local history material. In the course of work, students make excursions to the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, meet with graduates of the St. Tikhon Theological University (Faculty of Arts), study the materials of the official website of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra related to architectural monuments, use library material, get acquainted with additional literature on the subject.

As a result of the joint activities of students, teachers and parents, creative works should be created: the Slovo newspaper, the Rodniki almanac, presentations, scripts for the performances of the Slovo volunteer detachment in the form of a “living newspaper” (head of the volunteer detachment Istomina E. E.) to school students and parents.

The project is creative by type of activity, by the nature of the subject-content area - cultural, by the nature of coordination - open, explicit coordination, of medium duration.

Working with children is based on the principles of voluntariness.

Educational and educational goals

1. To form the ability to analyze works of art, evaluate their artistic features, and express their own judgments about them.

2. To form motivation to study the life of the lamp of the Russian land Sergius of Radonezh.

3. Formation of national self-consciousness of students in the course of studying the cultural heritage of their native land, immersion in the world of national history while studying its fateful moments (the Battle of Kulikovo).

3. To enrich the vocabulary of the project participants with words of spiritual and historical and cultural significance, to increase the general erudition of children, to introduce students into speechChurch Slavonicisms that define the high style of Russian classical fiction.

4. To form value orientations towards the moral, traditional in the culture of the native land.

Tasks educational and pedagogical

1. Introduction to the values of ancient Russian culture.

2. The study of the masterpieces of ancient Russian literature.

3. Statement and formulation of the theme of their creative work, personal motivation for choice.

4. Formation and development of creative work skills.

5. Collection and systematization of the material, the ability to apply the acquired knowledge in practice.

Project relevance

Modern education is currently experiencing a period of growth, and this is primarily due to the appeal to eternal values. This project is aimed at studying the artistic and cultural heritage of their native land and should help students acquire accurate spiritual guidelines, learn moral norms, values that are embodied in the Trinity-Sergius Lavra and the life of its founder Sergius of Radonezh.Work on the project involves integration into various disciplines studied at school (history, Moscow Art Theater, literature, fine arts).V.A. Sukhomlinsky wrote that “a child by nature is an inquisitive researcher, a discoverer of the world. So let a wonderful world open up before him in living colors, bright and trembling sounds, ... in his own creativity, in the beauty that inspires his heart, in the desire to do good to people.

Expected results

Work on the project "Word" contributes to the development of children's creative understanding of national culture, develops a sense of beauty, forms high aesthetic tastes, the ability to understand and appreciate works of art.

The media is the most important means of self-expression of adolescents, causing increased interest. Therefore, the work on the project will allow through the media (Slovo newspaper, Rodniki almanac) to most productively acquaint school students with the results of the development of the artistic and cultural heritage of their native land. In addition, with the help of theatrical techniques, through the “live newspaper”, students can convey their material to the primary school students and parents who are interested in the topic.

The creative works performed within the framework of the project (newspapers, drawings, photographs, models, etc.) will find their real practical application in the design of classrooms and school recreations, thus acquiring a lively social meaning, becoming work for the benefit of others.

Implementation of the project.

The project is led by MCC teacher Istomina E.E., coordinating the actions of students, providing the necessary information, controlling the selection of material. The teacher develops the design of publications. The Slovo newspaper is decorated with a headband with a photograph of a student reading a book, the name is typed in capital letters (Georgia font). The almanac "Rodniki" is 5-6 sheets on color photographic paper (A4), the cover contains questions that reveal the subject of the publication.

At the beginning of the school year, an editorial board is created from students in grades 6-10, which, under the guidance of a teacher, determines the areas of work, publishes a newspaper and an almanac. The editorial board includes proofreaders, correspondents, photojournalists, members of the Slovo volunteer detachment.

Achieving the goals and fulfilling the tasks of the school media (the Slovo newspaper and the Rodniki almanac) is carried out through the publication of the following types of information: reports written in an accessible form and reports on school events on spiritual and moral topics. Analytical articles and materials aimed at studying the artistic and cultural heritage of the native land. Materials reflecting the participation of school students in the spiritual and moral activities of the school, city, district, region.

Stage 1 work includes posing a problem, formulating a topic, choosing topics by students, visiting the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. General theme: "Bow to St. Sergius."

2 stage of work- search.

Range of questions: "Temples of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra". "What did the Trinity Convent look like in ancient times?" Trinity-Sergius Lavra: history and modernity. “What deeds did Sergius of Radonezh glorify in Russian history”? “Tell us about the plot of the painting by M. V. Nesterov “Vision to the youth Bartholomew.” “What spiritual testaments of Sergius of Radonezh do we learn from the “Life ...”, created to the glory of the saint by Epiphanius the Wise.” « The image of St. Sergius of Radonezh in the monuments of the Kulikovo cycle of ancient Russian literature". "Why Andrei Rublev is considered a student of Sergius of Radonezh." The range of questions can be expanded at the request of students.

Stage 3- practical work. Making a creative report in the form of newspaper and almanac issues, as well as in the creative form chosen by the student (multimedia presentation, presentation with a report or message at a conference, parent meeting, creative classes, participation in the work of the Slovo volunteer group, etc.)

Numbers of newspapers, almanacs, creative works are placed in recreation areas, stored in the conference hall of the school.

The electronic version of the newspaper is posted on the school website.

Introduction

What is the relevance of this topic? Modern technologies are trying to "voice" digital photography, using brightness, saturation. But they still do not have an algorithm for creating a composition. And we tried to find another way of "sounding" pictures, more accessible, simple. The musical reproduction of paintings by the proposed methods can be used in the lessons of the Moscow Art Theater, fine arts, music and computer science. As a task: voice the picture in the first or second way. Science does not stand still, and, perhaps, there will be more areas of application for this “discovery”.

The interconnection of the arts manifested itself in ancient times in the countries of Latin America, in ancient Greece, in ancient Rome. In ancient Russian artistic culture, examples of synthesis are many monastic ensembles, kremlins, and churches. The variety of architectural forms, their connection with sculptural decoration, fresco painting and the natural landscape contributed to the creation of expressive compositions based on synthesis in Gothic ensembles, where architecture, sculpture, and painting were organically combined, mainly in the form of colored stained-glass windows.

In the Renaissance, Baroque and Classicism synthesis acquired the most complex and developed forms. Painting has inspired many composers to create musical works. Franz Liszt admitted that Raphael and Michelangelo helped him understand Mozart and Beethoven. A. Vivaldi, P. Tchaikovsky opened the world to the "song" of Russian nature. The beneficial role of music also affected the work of artists. “Without music, I can’t imagine life,” said Repin. And all his paintings are "visible music"

I chose this particular topic for my work, because I think that it is very interesting, like the very combination of such arts as music and painting ...

In the information society, when any information can be obtained in a matter of seconds, the issue of synthesizing musical works with other art forms has become relevant. The purpose of this work was to study the works of painting for the relationship with music.

Object: perception of painting through music.

Hypothesis: any picture can be voiced by a non-associative method

We were given the following tasks:

Consider the associative perception of art

Draw a parallel between classical works and contemporary art.

Find a non-associative way of sounding pictures.

To achieve this goal, we used the following methods:

    Observation

    Comparison

Examined and studied the paintings of different eras and studied the paintings of modern and classical artists. We studied the historical features of the creation of works of art, analyzed them.

Main part

  1. Relationship of the Arts

In folk rituals, vocal and program music, compositions for the theater and cinema, music appears in an inseparable unity with other forms of art. But even "purely musical" works sound brighter and more convincing when surrounded by poetry, painting, and architecture. They help to create a special artistic atmosphere, give deep reasons for meaningful comparisons and analogies. It is they who are able to be a bright stimulus for independent creativity, inspiring the creation of their own vocal and instrumental improvisations.

This connection is valuable in that figurative associations arise at the junction of various types of art. The richer they are, the more creative is the perception of a work of art. N.E.Basin and O.A.Suslova in their manual "Introduction to the language of art" note five different levels of polyartistic associations.

The simplest are associations with visible objects and phenomena of the natural world and the human world. The principle of simple visual similarity works here. General artistic themes and concepts, for example, such as "home" or "spring", depicted by means of music, painting, literature - underlie this level of associations.

The next type of associations is associated with physical sensations: tactile, weight, loudness, dynamic, etc. We do not see it, but we feel it with the help of touch, smell, hearing and taste. Therefore, "heavy" music turns out to be emotionally consonant with dark colors, monumental architecture, etc., while the sound in a high register is associated with light transparent watercolor tones and fine graphics.

The third type of associations are associations associated with emotional experiences, with shades of different moods. Despondency and joy, anger and goodwill - all these emotional spheres have their refraction in music, and in literature, and in painting. A selection of "emotional impressions" of these moods from different types of art, of course, contributes to a deeper penetration into a particular mood, emotion; and a richer perception of its specific expression in a particular work of art.

The fourth type of associations refers the imagination to the images stored in our subconscious, the so-called archetypes, for example, to the images of the world elements, light and darkness, motherhood, earthly and heavenly, etc.

The fifth type is associations arising from communication with complex socio-cultural phenomena, which include both visual images and abstract ideas. In this case, associations are formed on the basis of "information" about some social or cultural phenomenon, about a work of art, style, direction, artist.

Another important aspect is the language of art. Expressive means are sometimes very close in different types of art. This is, first of all, its genre basis: both in music, and in painting, and in poetry, chamber and monumental genres, lyrics and epic are distinguished; genres of portrait, landscape, everyday sketches, a number of other genre features.

There are also general patterns of construction of works of art: symmetry and contrast, rhythm and form, the logic of development, the opposition of the main and the background ... These and other "component elements" of an artistic statement, based on the laws of human perception, will also be related in different types of art. And perceiving these patterns through, for example, visual arts, it is possible to reveal them more clearly and convincingly in music as well.

  1. Classical combination of music and painting
    1. Pictures as a source of inspiration

Melodies usually evoke certain thoughts and feelings in the listener, give rise to memories, vague or more or less clear pictures of a once seen landscape or scene from life. And this picture, which arose in the imagination, can be painted. And with a good artist, the picture itself acquires musicality, from the canvas written by him, melodies sound, as it were.

“Good painting is music, it is a melody,” said the great Italian artist Michelangelo

It would be naive to think that every picture, which depicts people playing any instruments or singing, "radiates" music. Many artists did not think about this at all, although they often resorted to "musical" subjects. The first images of people playing music came to us from ancient times. In Egypt, entire musical ensembles are depicted on the walls of temples - boys and girls playing citharas, lutes, oboes. In ancient Greece, not a single image of the singer Orpheus was complete without a lyre, which he certainly held in his hands. In the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, many paintings and sculptures with singing angels appeared. The saints played the organ. Or itinerant musicians performed their ingenuous melodies, extracted from bagpipes, pipes, viols, in front of an admiring crowd of people.

If, until the middle of the 19th century, artists played music and the image of people playing and singing, then from this point on, musicians began to try to convey works of fine art in sounds.

Let's start with Franz Liszt, who quite often relied on quite specific paintings in his writings. In his piano cycle "Years of wandering. Year two: Italy" there is a piece called "Betrothal" ("Sposalizio"). This is how the Italians call the altarpiece by Raphael Santi "Betrothal of Mary" - a picture of absolutely amazing beauty, enlightened sadness and wisdom .

Inspired by the fresco "The Triumph of Death", according to some reports belonging to the brush of Andrei Orcagna, according to others - to Ambrogio Lorenzetti, Liszt creates the "Dance of Death" for piano and orchestra, using the motif of the Gregorian chant Dies Irae.

The symphonic poem "The Battle of the Huns" was written by Liszt based on the undoubtedly best work of Wilhelm von Kaulbach: a majestic fresco with the same name. At one time, Liszt seriously considered creating a whole cycle of symphonic poems, which he wanted to call "World History in Pictures and Sounds of Wilhelm von Kaulbach and Franz Liszt."

Following Liszt, the names of the paintings, this time by Arnold Böcklin, were used by Max Reger in an orchestral suite of four symphonic poems. These are the following paintings: "The Hermit", "Playing in the Waves", "Bacchnalia" and "Isle of the Dead".

The last canvas became a source of inspiration for Sergei Rachmaninov, who created his rather gloomy "Isle of the Dead". Rachmaninov's music is full of poignant melancholy, at the same time one can hear in it the numbness of boundless sadness, and stormy sobs, and an alarming foreboding of death,

In sharp contrast to the music of Rachmaninov, the music of the piano piece "Islands of Joy" by Claude Debussy, written under the impression of a painting by the French artist Antoine Watteau, sounds. In the melodic curves of the piece, one can hear laughter, singing, the murmur of streams, and even swift, cheerful dances.

Looking into the seeming immobility of a good picture, you can see that it is still full of movement, and this is already a property of music. On the other hand, listening to a piece of music, the human imagination draws picturesque images. Thus, music becomes visible, and painting audible.

The famous painting by Sandro Botticelli (1445-1510) "Spring" depicts a clearing in an orange garden. It is all dotted with flowers. Botanists have counted more than 500 flowers ("there is no number of them"), belonging to more than 170 species. Moreover, they are reproduced with photographic accuracy, such as the German iris in the lower right corner. Despite the name "Spring", among them there are many that bloom in summer, and even in winter.

"Spring" was written by Botticelli commissioned by the young offspring of the Medici family. The plot of the painting “Spring” is based on a myth that tells how the spring wind Zephyr, by the power of his love, turned the nymph Chloris into the goddess of spring and flowering. The composition of the picture is built in such a way that the storyline develops from right to left. In the upper right corner we see a flying figure with wings in a fluttering cloak. This is Zephyr, his cheeks are swollen, the trees bowed from his swift flight. The wind of spring catches up with the fleeing Chloris.

The frightened nymph turned her face towards him, and with her hands, as if praying for protection, touches the figure of another girl in a bright elegant dress decorated with flowers and with a wreath of flowers on her head. But she, not noticing anything, continues to move on. She takes roses from the folds of her dress and scatters them around. This is the goddess of flowers and plants Flora - the same Chloris, but in a new guise of a goddess. The nymph's dress is almost transparent, flowers in the meadow shine through it, and in Flora's magnificent outfit they create a bright pattern on the dress.

These three figures personify the transformation of the nymph into the goddess of flowering and symbolize the first month of spring, because the first breath of Zephyr was considered its beginning. To the left of this group is placed the figure of Venus, the goddess of love and beauty. Cupid hovers above her head with an arrow and a bow, trees parted around her in a semicircle, denoting the semantic center of the picture. Venus stands with her head thoughtfully tilted to one side, and with her right hand she blesses the three Graces. This group symbolizes the second month of spring - April. On the left edge of the canvas is placed Mercury, the god of reason and eloquence, the patron of the arts, a worthy companion of the Graces. He is the personification of the last spring month, named after his mother Maya.

Let us compare the features of the composition of this pictorial canvas with a piece of music with the same name. "Spring" is the first concert in the cycle "The Seasons" by Antonio Vivaldi (1678-1741), the most popular work of the Italian baroque composer. The composer prefaced each of the concertos with a sonnet. It is assumed that the author of the poems is Vivaldi himself. Music exactly follows the images of the poems. The first part of the concert - "Spring is Coming" - opens with an unusually joyful motive, illustrating the jubilation caused by the arrival of spring - the whole orchestra plays.

Here comes Spring, and Venus is coming, and Venus is winged

The messenger is coming ahead, and, Zephyr after, before them

Flora-mother walks and, scattering flowers on the way,

It fills everything with colors and a sweet smell ...

Winds, goddess, run before you; with your approach

The clouds are leaving from heaven, the earth is a masterful lush

A flower carpet is laid, sea waves are smiling,

And the azure sky shines with spilled light

The second part is "The Peasant's Dream". Vivaldi, not without humor, painted a picture of a sweet dream - the solo violin sings a melody, the very quiet sound of all the violins of the orchestra in a soft rhythm depicts the rustling of leaves, and the voices of the violas - the barking of a dog guarding the owner's dream.

The breath of flowers, the rustle of herbs,

The nature of dreams is full.

The shepherd is sleeping, tired for the day

And the dog barks a little audibly.

Listen and see how music, painting, poetry have merged here! And you involuntarily ask yourself the question: what was written at the beginning, the picture or the music?

    1. Polyphony in music and painting

A new continent, but not on Earth, but in art, was discovered by the Lithuanian composer and artist M. Čiurlionis. He strove to make his music picturesque, and with his paintings to evoke in the audience the feeling of sounding music. "Sonata of the Sea" is the most famous pictorial suite of Čiurlionis, a Lithuanian composer and artist. The universe looks like a big symphony to me.

His music is soft, lyrical, colorful, reservedly dramatic. It was born of Lithuanian folk tunes, native nature - quivering, like autumn air, slow and smooth, like the flow of rivers along the plains of Lithuania, discreet, like the hills of his homeland, thoughtful, like a haze of Lithuanian early morning fogs.

And most importantly, it is picturesque. While composing music, Čiurlionis himself saw these pictures “with the eyes of his soul”. They lived in his imagination so vividly that the composer wanted to transfer them to the canvas. And Chiurlionis becomes a painter. Not an ordinary painter. And an artist-musician.

Without leaving music, he paints one picture after another - about three hundred pictorial compositions. And each is a philosophical poem in colors, a symphony of pictorial rhythms, musical visions.

The musicians call a sonata a complex instrumental piece in which various, often opposite themes collide, fighting each other, in order to come to the victory of the main melody in the finale. The sonata is divided into four (rarely three) parts. The first - allegro - is the most intense, fastest, most active. In it, the conflict of contradictory feelings most fully reveals the spiritual world of a person. This struggle is difficult to put into words, only music can do it.

Čiurlionis decided to call on painting for help. It is also wordless and sometimes "sounds" like music. The artist conceived the idea of creating pictorial sonatas, building them according to the laws of musical form.

    1. Music sounding from Russian canvases

Russian artists and poets, Russian musicians have always had an amazing ability to penetrate deeply into the psychology of the people and convey in their compositions the national flavor of the country.

It is impossible to imagine art without nature. Nature and art are simply inseparable from each other. Permeated with the beauty of nature, music and painting merge and interpenetrate each other. The prominent Soviet musicologist, academician Boris Asafiev, expressed the opinion that from the painting by Alexei Savrasov "Rooks Have Arrived" Russian artists felt the song of Russian nature, and Russian composers felt the landscape of Russian folk songs.

Thus began the heyday of Russian landscape painting, imbued with the elements of Russian songwriting and Russian music, filled with the aroma of poetic Russian nature. Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Isaac Ilyich Levitan are the highest expressions of these aspirations of Russian art, which brought music closer to painting.

A truly incomprehensible influence on Tchaikovsky was exerted by the mysterious beauty of nature. In one of his letters, he exclaims: “Why is a simple Russian landscape, why a walk in the summer in Russia, in the countryside, through the fields, through the forest, in the evening in the steppe, used to lead me to such a state that I lay down on the ground in some kind of exhaustion. from the influx of love for nature, those inexplicably sweet and intoxicating impressions that the forest, the steppe, the river, the distant village, the modest church, in a word, everything that made up the miserable Russian native landscape brought over me. Why all this?

None of the Russian composers managed to find the melody of the Russian landscape so sensitively as Tchaikovsky did. And this was especially evident in the cycle "The Seasons", twelve pieces of which are dedicated to the twelve months of the year. The plays of the cycle amaze with their incredible simplicity and equally incredible inner picturesqueness. Listening to these plays, we always see them!

Already in his First Symphony "Winter Dreams" the composer paints wonderful landscapes of a winter road and a foggy region with sounds. The music of this symphony is compared with the elegiac canvases of Levitan, in whom the Russian open spaces evoked no less strong spiritual response. The artist's relatives recalled that from an early age he loved to wander through the fields and forests, contemplate "some kind of sunset" for a long time, and when spring came, "he was completely transformed and fussed, worried, he was drawn to the city." Leaving Russia, he soon began to yearn for the Russian nature he passionately loved. So, in the spring of 1894, he wrote to A.M. Vasnetsov from Nice: "I can imagine what a delight it is now in Rus' - the rivers have overflowed, everything comes to life. There is no better country than Russia ... Only in Russia can there be a real landscape painter."

Levitan had an amazing gift: everything that was born under his brush began to sing. Here is how one of the best connoisseurs of Russian painting, Academician M.V. describes the painting "Spring - High Water". Alpatov: "Thin, like candles, girlishly slender birches look like those that have been sung in Russian songs from time immemorial. The reflection of birches in clear water, as it were, constitutes their continuation, their echo, melodic echo , they dissolve in the water with their roots, their pink branches merge with the blue of the sky. The contours of these bent birch trees sound like a gentle playful-plaintive flute. , separate voices of more powerful trunks break out of this choir, all of them are opposed by a tall pine trunk and dense green spruce.

The central part of the painting "Evening Bells" is occupied by the river. Its grey-blue hues have a soft effect on the beholder, as if calling to enjoy the tranquility and magical charm of the summer landscape. The main focus is on the monastery and the bell tower, which are surrounded by greenery, the contemplation of which elevates a person above the worldly bustle. It makes you want to linger on the peninsula flooded with evening rays of the sun: the holy monastery, the crosses of domes melting in the sky, the wide road to the gates of the monastery. It was no coincidence that I.I. Levitan depicted two monks dressed in black right by the river. They are so small that overcoming the path to the sparkling white arch seems to be something impossible. And yet the road to God, far from the temptations of the world, is quite spacious, and only the one who walks can master it.

The upper part of the picture is the sky. Almost white above the forest, a little higher - with air clouds and in the upper left corner - blue, the sky is striking in its piercing beauty. The skill of the painter allowed Levitan to fill the picture with evening chimes. In the heavenly heights depicted by him, the music of church bells is heard, flying over the tops of trees, a river with a boat with people floating downstream, a tiny wooden pier and a man sitting in a small boat near the shore, whose figure you do not immediately notice.

Isaac Ilyich Levitan was able to find extraordinary depth in any landscape, harmoniously combining the complex philosophy of human life with the virgin purity of Russian nature. (Ivan Kozlov and music by A. Alyabyev)

Another picture of Levitan "Golden Autumn" produces, perhaps, the most pacifying and healing impression. Accordingly, the colors of the wondrous canvas sing in tune. Everything in this picture seems to be sung in one breath, written in one touch. The cornflower-blue sky burnt out from the summer heat, the river, slightly blue and cold from the bottomless autumn nights, and the golden crimson brown bushes of trees and the emerald field wedge green in the distance. Gold, crimson, blue are all the rainbow of the Motherland, and Levitan, who has been going all his life to understand this symphonic structure, finally comprehended it to the end. He found the right way, and each of his strokes sounds clean, complete and true. It is with this picture that Tchaikovsky's play "Autumn Song" from the cycle "The Seasons" is consonant.

Dmitry Kabalevsky's description of the music of this piece is filled with picturesque epithets: "A sad melody full of gentle melancholy. We see how a "major" sunbeam is constantly trying to penetrate through the gray, "minor" autumn clouds. Just about, it seems, it will look out, but then again suddenly, he looked in another place, in a third, it seems, he finally broke through, but again everything was covered with sad gray clouds ... and it is precisely this unrealizable desire for the sun, for a bright major sonority that gives a special picturesque charm and a special humanity to this seemingly modest but genuine pearl of Russian art".

    1. Music paints pictures

In the work of another Russian artist, Mikhail Aleksandrovich Vrubel, we find the influence of musical works. Impressed by Rimsky-Korsakov's opera The Tale of Tsar Saltan, the artist created the painting The Swan Princess. It is known that Rimsky-Korsakov wrote the part of the Swan Princess for Vrubel's wife, the famous singer Nadezhda Ivanovna Zabela, whose image undoubtedly influenced the writing of the picture.

True musicality is in the painting itself, in the way airy, weightless colors shimmer and shimmer in the foreground, in the finest gradations of gray-pink, in the truly intangible pictorial matter of the canvas, “transforming”, melting. All the languid, sad beauty of the image is expressed in this special pictorial matter. The charm of native nature, the proud and tender sincerity of a fabulous bird girl. Arcane charms yet subjugated evil sorcery. Loyalty and firmness of true love. Might and eternal force of good. All these features are combined into a wonderful image, marvelous with its unfading freshness and special majestic beauty.

It is believed that Vrubel's repeated listening to Anton Rubinstein's opera "The Demon" later served as one of the impetuses for writing a series of paintings united in a demonic way: Demon sitting, Demon flying, Demon defeated.

The famous painting by Ilya Repin "Ivan the Terrible and his son Ivan" was written under the direct influence of the music of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. Repin himself wrote: "I heard Rimsky-Korsakov's new thing," Revenge ". It made an irresistible impression on me. These sounds took possession of me, and I thought if it was possible to embody in painting the mood that was created in me under the influence of this music. I remembered Tsar Ivan.

3. Contemporary musical associations 3.1. Modern "singing pictures" by D. Dolgov

Creative individuals, as a rule, do not limit themselves to one area of art. Painting and music are linked by special ties, and not so much plot or creative, but deeply internal, having one and the same basis - the diverse manifestations of life.

21 century. Using associations, some artists began to write music for the paintings they saw. And the concept of "Singing Pictures" was born. What it is?

To unite visual and musical art is the intention of the organizers. The idea, born in Kursk, has already "infected" other cities - Vladivostok and Samara.

The original installation includes two types of art at once - painting and song. The idea of the competition is a synthesis of music and painting

Dmitry Dolgov, an acquaintance from his performances at the Balaklava Holidays festival, winner of the Grushinsky Festival and other international competitions, presented his new paintings to the guests of the exhibition, which became the backdrop for the author's solo concert.

The initiator of this format of the event is the Sevastopol poet and bard Andrey Sobolev. As he said, he knows Dmitry as a poet, singer-songwriter for a long time. And after seeing his paintings, the idea arose to combine painting and music and organize an exhibition-concert, showing the creative versatility of the author.

Dmitry Dolgov is professionally engaged in music and is a fairly well-known person in bard circles. He travels a lot with concerts in Ukraine and Russia. Now the author conveys his experiences, feelings, his vision of what is happening around us, not only through songs, but also through the canvas.

He started painting about three years ago. And he approached this exhibition with humor. In addition to the presented portraits, still lifes and genre works, three works stood out that perfectly justify the name of the exhibition.

Literally a few weeks before the opening of the exhibition, Dmitry had the idea to make some ironic works. He bought inexpensive prints in the store, which are essentially kitsch. And he decided to give them a new content, adding some images that, in his opinion, correspond to certain songs. “It was important for me to preserve as much of the picture itself as possible, which was there, and to place in this picture some of my hero, whom I consider important. And then the meaning of the whole picture changes,” said Dmitry Dolgov.

Seeing the picture, each person interprets it in his own way. The explanation of how the author sees it sounded in his songs at the concert, thanks to which one could also hear what could not be expressed with the help of brush and canvas. Among the songs performed: "Kovyli", "Yalta tragic". For example, the image of Marusya from a Russian folk song is reflected in the work of the same name “Marusenka Soaps White Feet”. The author depicted it on a print with the city of Chicago, Lake Michigan. Images were also selected in the works "In vain the old woman is waiting ..."

In addition, the bard shared with the viewer the moments of inspiration that accompanied the birth of a particular work, canvas, melody or verse. According to Dmitry Dolgov, all those present had the opportunity to make sure that songs can become a musical continuation of visual images, and sounds can complement pictures.

3.2. Photography has a great future

But can modern technologies “voice” digital photography? At the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2013), the Mhoto application was introduced. Using patented technology to analyze image properties such as brightness, saturation and contrast, an original soundtrack is created, adapted to the "feeling that photography conveys".
The user just needs to upload an image, and he will hear the corresponding composition. He also has the opportunity to select a specific musical genre of the soundtrack: hip-hop, rock, pop, etc.

The founders of the application worked on the composition creation algorithm together with the music producer Dub Killer. The developers plan to add a face recognition function to the application so that the soundtrack matches the mood of the person in the portrait.

The application is still under development and the official website offers registration for interested beta testers.

Soon we will be able to "hear" any photo. These are achievements of the 21st century!

4. Heard painting

Speaking about the "musicality" of the paintings, they believe that this concept is conditional - the paintings themselves, of course, do not make sounds, even if they depict people playing any instruments.

And with my work I want to show that paintings can “sing”. Let's return to the reproduction of Botticelli "Spring".

Any musical instrument can serve as a musical instrument. The most common is the piano. There are many online emulators on the Internet. The site http://pcblogg.com/ presents interesting options. With their help, we create a fragment of a melody. To do this, we analyze the picture. We select the main line of the image, along which we place the stave. The faces of those depicted serve as notes. Alternatively, other key moments of the picture can be used: hands, feet, oranges on tree branches. We'll get a tune. [Appendix 1, Appendix 2] The arrangement uses a standard combination of chords.

Using this algorithm, you can make any picture sound.

4.2 Color coded version

There are different directions of painting. Somewhere it is easy to determine the key moments of the picture. And if we take the abstractionism of M. Larionov, P. Filonov, the cubism of Pablo Picasso, the Suprematism of Malevich and others, then we will encounter difficulties. For such paintings, a variant of color encryption is possible.

Let's take the color spectrum. Each color defines its own note, 7 colors - 7 notes. [Appendix 3] By breaking the picture into semantic areas, we create a melody. For example, consider the picture of K. Malevich "Athletes". The resulting melody is presented in Appendix 4

Conclusion. The triumph of music

Thus, we got a product - the melody of the picture. The musical reproduction of paintings by the proposed methods can be used in the lessons of the Moscow Art Theater, fine arts, music and computer science. As a task: voice the picture in the first or second way. In computer science: to encrypt any information and make it sound, etc.
