What style does David Guetta play? David Guetta: list of studio albums

The development of science and technology is often reflected in culture. For example, the advent of technology that made it possible to record and play video and sound led to the emergence of cinema, and the advent of synthesizers further expanded the boundaries of what musicians could do. It is not surprising that in the current situation, some professions disappeared, while others had to transform in order to somehow survive in the harsh world of competition.

Such professions include the profession of a DJ. Today's popular David Guetta simply played records in a certain order at local parties in the mid-eighties, and today earns millions of dollars by writing hit tracks. However, just like almost forty years ago, David calls himself a DJ.

Childhood and youth

Guetta was born in the capital of France. This event occurred on November 7, 1967. The boy became the third child in the family of a Belgian woman and a Moroccan Jew - before this, the couple had already acquired a son, Bernard, and a daughter, Natalie. The parents named their third child David Pierre - later Guetta would refuse to use the second name, and change the first one in the American manner.

The boy became interested in music early, so it is not surprising that at the age of fifteen he was already a regular at local discos, and a couple of years later he himself played music at similar events in the capital’s Broad club.

It is difficult to say for sure how long this would have lasted if, at the age of twenty, David had not heard a track on the radio that changed his life. It was a composition by the American DJ Rude by Farley Keit, written in the then new house genre. Guetta realized that he wanted to create something similar, and began to implement his plans. He presented his first compositions to the world already in 1988.

Music

In 1990, David, as a producer, together with his old friend, French rapper Sindey, released the debut album Rap Nation, which became a hit on a local scale. Four years later, together with the singer of Fingers, Inc. Guetta released the track “Up and Away”, which also became a big event in his circles and led to David becoming the manager of the Palace nightclub.

In the period from 1996 to 2002, the DJ, together with his wife, was involved in organizing and holding events of various sizes and themes - in which, by the way, he succeeded quite well.

In June 2002, Guetta, with the support of Virgin Records, Richard Branson's label, released his debut album, entitled Just a Little More Love. The album contained 13 compositions, most of which were created with the participation of Barbara Tucker, Chris Willis and Juan Rosofor. All tracks were written in the house or electro-house genre. The album did not become the hot new release of the year, but this did not stop David.

Two years later, the DJ released his second album “Guetta Blaster”, in which, in addition to house, Guetta decided to play on the electroclash field. The experiment turned out to be successful - out of the twelve tracks on the album, three became chart leaders, and one became a kind of anthem of the house genre (we are talking about “The World Is Mine”).

This was followed by remixes of hits and The Egg, which became no less popular than the original compositions.

On June 18, 2007, Guetta presented his third album. The original edition of Pop Life had 13 tracks, but the record was released in different editions, which varied in the number of bonus tracks.

The third album was also marked by a large number of collaborations with other artists. The results of this work were the hits “Everytime We Touch” and “Baby When the Light”.

Next year, David and his wife are organizing the Unighted concert, a large-scale musical event at which, in addition to Guetta himself, the Frenchman Martin Solveig, the Englishman Carl Cox, the Dutchman Tiesto and many other prominent figures of the genre appeared.

In 2009, Guetta began hosting his own radio show on Internet radio stations, which he continues to do to this day.

In August 2009, the DJ’s next album “One Love” was released, and the following year its updated re-release “One More Love”, in which the number of tracks changed from 15 to 18. This time David managed to work with Akon, Black Eyed Peas, Kid Cudi, as well as other groups and performers. The hits of “One Love” were “Memories” and “Sexy Bitch”.

This was followed by a Grammy Award, which David received on January 31, 2010 in Los Angeles, as well as getting into the top three TOP 10 DJs according to the authoritative English publication Dj Magazine.

The following year brought the musician’s fans a new album – “Nothing But The Beat”, consisting of 12 tracks. A year later, a re-release will be released, in which the number of tracks will unexpectedly increase to 21.

The fifth album pleased fans with collaborations between David and Ne-Yo, and other equally popular artists. Nothing But The Beat's hits included "Titanium", "Turn Me On" and "Play Hard". The video shot for the last of the listed compositions has almost a billion views on YouTube.

The DJ's latest album to date was released at the end of November 2014. As with the previous one, the album was marked by a large number of guest compositions, which formed the basis of “Listen”. Almost all the tracks managed to reach the top of the international charts, but the best performance was observed for the songs “Dangerous”, “Bang My Head” and, of course, “Hey Mama”.

Personal life

From 1992 to 2014, Guetta was married to a girl named Katie (maiden name unknown), who gave birth to David's son, Tim Elvis Eric, in 2004, and a daughter, Angie, in 2007.

After the divorce, David began dating Cuban fashion model Jessica Ledon, with whom the relationship has lasted for three years.

Also, 2017 was marked for David by working together with “2U”, as well as receiving another award from MTV, as evidenced by what was posted in "Instagram" photo of the DJ.

Childhood and youth of David Guetta

David Guett was born on November 7, 1967 in Paris. The mother is Belgian by origin, and the father is a Jew from Morocco. At school, David was a rather mediocre student. At the age of 14, he organized school discos, charging visitors 10 francs for entry. And already in 1980 (17 years old) he began working at the Broad nightclub.

Young Guetta was noticed and after a short period of time his hits were heard on Parisian radio stations. David did not have a specific musical style; he worked with all directions - house, grunge, hip-hop.

The beginning of David Guetta's career

In 1990, David Guetta, together with his friend Sidney Duteil, released the album “Nation Rap”. A couple of years later, the DJ made friends with the legendary Robert Owens. The fruit of this friendship was the composition “Up & Away”. The song instantly gained popularity in the country, and the musician began his working days in the new French house style. In 1995, Guetta became manager of the La Palace club. Soon he opened his own nightclub, Le Bain-Douche, in Paris. David's performances were attended by John Galliani, Calvin Klein, Roger Sanchez and others.

However, things were not going well for the inexperienced businessman. At this very moment, Chris Willis, the lead singer of the Nashville band, appeared in David's life. Within two days, Guetta and Willis came up with the song "Just A Little More Love". In 2001, the single conquered all the European charts and also became the anthem of the summer in the Ibiza club scene. Things were looking up in the studio.

The fourth solo album “One love” was released in 2009. The main difference between this album and all previous ones was not only the high quality, but also the fact that the disc contained very diverse types of music. The album featured contributions from Akon, will.i.am, apl.de.ap and Chris Willis.

In November 2010, the disc was re-released under the new name “One More Love”. At this time, music was making such joint singles as “Who’s That Chick?” with Rihanna, as well as "Commander" with Kelly Rowland.

"Nothing but the Beat" is Guetta's fifth studio effort. The album was released in two records (the first - vocal, the second - electronic compositions). The first single for the album, “Where Them Girls At,” was recorded with the participation of Flo Rida and Nicki Minaj, and released in May 2011.

David Guetta - Lovers On The Sun

For several years now, critics have been calling David a “master of remixes.” He is not too obsessed with ratings and is relatively calm about fame, since “music has become his calling.”

Personal life of David Guetta

In 1990, David met Katie, his future wife, in one of the nightclubs in Paris. Without hesitation, the couple tied the knot, literally a few months after they met.

Almost immediately after marriage, the couple created another tandem - a creative one. Katie also worked on most of David Guetta's projects.

Guetta calls himself a French Jew. His financial fortune is estimated at approximately thirty million dollars.

The musician loves to share his emotions and often plays in the studio for his friends. Interestingly, the DJ's music plays during the Christian Dior fashion show.

He is a French DJ and world-class composer. His compositions are used for the shows of John Galliano (House of Cristian Dior) at Paris Fashion Week. He is one of the most desirable personalities on club dance floors. His hit The World is Mine became the anthem of the club movement. He is the highest paid DJ on the island of Ibiza. His tour schedule is scheduled for several years in advance. HE IS DAVID GUETTA.

David Guetta is a true legend. An excellent musician, a DJ with a keen sense of audience, a successful promoter and a real socialite today shows the world an amazing example of success in life. Like King Midas, he turns everything he touches into gold.

French discomacho, author of the popular hit “The World Is Mine” and the “party” brand “F**K Me I"m Famous” David Guetta is going to a party at the club “DаgileV project”. This brand appeared three years ago and has already managed to conquer the love of famous sybarites like Kate Moss, David Bowie and Winona Ryder, and also register at the Pacha club in Ibiza.

David Guetta is a successful promoter, an excellent musician, a star of mainstream dance floors and one of the most famous French DJs. He started his career in Paris in the 80s (clubs Folies Pigalle, Le Queen, Palace and Les Bains), in the early 90s he tried to write his own music (“Up&Way” 1992 in the French touch style), in the mid-90s he did parties in Ibiza, but became popular only three years ago after the release of the album “Just a Little More Love” on the Virgin label. The disc sold a quarter of a million copies, and in 2003 David released another successful product - the compilation “F**k Me I"m Famous” with a cover version of David Bowie’s song “Just for One Day”. The Bowie remix sold a million circulation only in France and got into rotation on almost all European radio stations. At the same time, Guetta made a popular series of parties “F**k Me I"m Famous, which soon settled in the Pacha club in Ibiza and Cross in London, and a year later he released a new the album “Guetta Blaster”, which broke all popularity records. The track “Love don't let me go” from this record was used by John Galliano at Paris Fashion Week, the video clip for the song “The World is Mine” did not leave television screens, and club heavyweights Deep Dish and Black Strobe remixed it. Also in David Guetta's portfolio - afterparty of the Monte Carlo Grand Prix of Formula 1 racing, which was attended by Michael Schumacher, Jacques Villeneuve and Juan Pablo Montoya.

David's fourth studio album is called "One Love". The following people took part in the recording of the album: Will.I.Am, Akon, Kelly Rowland, Kid Cudi, Chris Willis, Estelle, Novel, Wynter, etc. If we talk about the album as a whole, then “One Love” is a daring mix of hip- hop, soul and electro. Uniting two polar camps into which lovers of dance music and hip-hop/R&B culture were divided in the early 90s was a very bold step on David’s part. There is no doubt that Guetta, with his subtle sense of producer, vast experience (last year alone he performed in front of more than 5 million audiences at over 200 events), successfully solved this difficult problem and gave the world a new musical “hybrid”. Batr guetta!!!

DAVID PIERRE GUETTA - French DJ, musician, producer.

  • Musical trends in youth: acid-house and hip-hop.

  • Confession: No. 1 DJ on the planet

The name of David Guetta appeared in the music field in the eighties of the last century, when he began to serve as a DJ and promoter in popular Parisian clubs. Gett quickly became an idol of club culture, and then became its significant figure. David's own parties (F**k Me I`m Famous) began to be a huge success; not only the Parisian elite attended them with pleasure.

Due to his sociable nature, David quickly made friends, so it is not surprising that not only oligarchs, but also music stars appeared in his circle ( David Morales, Eric Morillo, Roger Sanchez, John Galliani, Calvin Klein and others), friendship with some of them later transformed into a creative union.

But the talented DJ, who has excellent musical taste and natural talent, became cramped within the mastered framework. In 1992, he unexpectedly introduced the public to his own single, written in the new French House style. The single will eventually be considered a classic of this musical genre. And in ten years, David’s star will shine in full force on the world music horizon. But let's talk about everything in a little more detail.

They say that during his school years, David was not a diligent student, but he was sociable and was fond of music. With vinyl discs at the age of 13, he took his first steps in mastering DJing. In high school, not a single disco was complete without this guy, and then he took his music through all the Parisian clubs, playing popular tracks in them professionally and with pleasure. But when I discovered a new direction in electronic music – house, I immediately fell in love with this style. DJing at the radio station was added to club nights at that starting time Paris's Radio Nova.

1990 g. - release of the first album called Nation Rap together with rapper Sidney Duteil.

Real start time

1992 year – a full-fledged contribution was made to the country’s dance music with the release of a single of his own composition called Up & Away.

It was recorded with vocalist Robert Owens and immediately gained wild popularity. David's compatriots consider this time to be the birth of French house. The unusual composition made Guetta even more in demand. The dream of real recognition in the music world has become a reality. And it was really inspiring.

The DJ himself commented on this event at the time: “... we are the first French people to hold a show in Ibiza!” Here, after another party, David Guetta came up with the name of the future compilation - Fuck Me I'm Famous. She will be born much later - in 2003.

David Guetta's friendship with the vocalist of an American band who once dropped into the club Nashville Chris Willis consolidated their joint creative activity. Created in 2001 single Just A Little More Love sounded in all the charts, and then was recognized as the unofficial anthem of Ibiza, where David in 1996 carried out its musical takeover - mastering it - held a grandiose show in Ibiza.

Creative passion settled in the musician’s soul, his unprecedented performance was surprising.

IN 2002 The full-length album Just A Little More Love has been released.

The album sold more than a quarter of a million copies. Singles Love Don't Let Me Go, People Come People Go, Distortion, which appeared one after another in a short period of time, excited lovers of the dance floor and just good music.

By the way, many put the album Just A Little More Love on par with the then popular Depeche Mode. At this time, David begins to explore Australia, Singapore, the USA, Japan and Israel. He receives the status of residents of elite clubs: Barcelona Discoteca, London Cross, Pacha in Ibiza and Lausanne Mad.

2003– the collection F**k Me I`m Famous was published.

He presented an innovative compilation and delighted the audience. The track Just for One Day (Heroes) (and it was a cover version of the famous hit by David Bowie) hit the top ten charts on all European radio stations.

2004, autumn – Guetta’s second solo album Blaster.

Two hits - The World Is Mine And In Love With Myself- from the new album Blaster were heard on all continents of the planet. And the video clip filmed for the song The World Is Mine is constantly shown on television at the request of viewers. Interestingly, in the chorus of this song there are prophetic words that now the whole world belongs to David and Katie...

2007, summer – third solo album Pop Life.

The circulation of album No. 3 has already reached 530 thousand copies. The main single of the album was Love Is Gone- later the leader of the American Dance Chat. The single also entered the top 100 hits on the Billboard Hot 100.

2008– David Guetta held over two hundred events, attended by more than 5 million people. And then the audience only grew.

David's music conquers the world

year 2009, summer – release of the second single I Gotta Feeling(with the Black Eyed Peas, which David produced).

Subsequently, this single became a hit and was in the highest positions in chats in 17 countries around the world! It was the most downloaded audio track in the UK (circulation - more than 1 million), as well as the best-selling hit in the USA (more than 6 million copies!).

year 2009, end of summer - the release of the fourth solo album One Love, which was subsequently released in seven (!) variations (incredible, but true!).

The first number in it was the single When Love Takes Over, which David performed together with Kelly Rowland. It is not surprising that the single immediately became one of the leaders of the UK Singles Chart. Soon the second single of this album, called Sexy Bitch, joined him.

Other celebrities also took part in the recording of the fourth album. In general, his “batch” represented hip-hop, electro and soul - the musician’s unexpected and bold decision gave the public an original and delightful hybrid.

2010, autumn - re-release of the fourth album One Love with a new, slightly changed name - One More Love.

In it, the DJ left the tracks already loved by the public and added new ones, written in recent months.

2011, summer – the fifth album Nothing but the Beat is released on two discs at once.

The first disc of album No. 5 offered vocal tracks, the second disc featured electronic music with electronic tracks. This album received platinum in many European countries and entered the top five charts not only in France, but also in the UK and the USA.

Music on the podium, in Formula 1 and a grand show

David Guetta constantly experiments and tries himself in different formats. The following facts prove this:

  • The fashion house of John Galliano (C. Dior) is showing its collections to the music of David Guetta - the track "Love don"t let me go."
  • Special musical accompaniment for the Formula 1 Grand Prix events in Monte Carlo was also composed by David Guetta. The afterparty was attended by famous racing drivers, including Michael Schumacher, Juan Pablo Montoya and Jacques Villeneuve.
  • In 2008, David held an unprecedented grand show, which attracted more than forty thousand people, together with his wife Katie and famous DJs Tiesto, Joachim Garraud, Martin Solveig and Carl Cox.

A little about personal...

According to David himself, he is a French Jew. Married. His wife's activities Katie was also connected with the musical sphere. It happened that they held their own exciting parties together. His friend Bob Sinclair also formed an interesting tandem in such events.

Sometimes difficult times come in the work of a famous DJ, when he feels a loss of strength and is not delighted with the music he has written. But this happens to all creative people - a lot of stress takes its toll. David sees a way out of this state in rest, when the body calms down and everything returns to “normal” - inspiration comes again, strength and desire appear to write new music and share your emotions with people.
