Rapper Lil Wayne. The best songs and albums of Lil Wayne

On September 27, 1982, in some dirty maternity hospital, or maybe even at home, in the disgustingly criminal and incredibly hot area of \u200b\u200b"17 ward", a baby was born, who was given the name Dwayne Michael Carter (Dwayne Michael Carter). He was the only and completely unwanted child in an already shaky family. Obviously, the baby was the last straw for the real father of the future rap star, and the father abandoned the family when Dwayne was not yet a year old. A typical start to a story of incredible success, isn't it? What can you do, as Louis Logic said: “All those Cinderella stories are true, because it happens.”

Despite everything, a certain Reginald Carter, nicknamed Rabbit, tried to somehow raise his family throughout Dwayne’s childhood; he replaced the future rapper’s father, and at the same time gave him the presidential surname “Carter.”

Vizzy's studies were extremely bad: of course, it's hard to study and hang around on the street, in crime-ridden Orleans, with friends, listening to rap, at the same time. And then on the streets of this, there’s no other word for it, we listened to absolutely amazing and unique performers in this exotic city. Here it would be worth delving a little deeper into the history of New Orleans music: that completely incompetent label “bounce”, which haters of southern rap so love to hang these days, is in fact a hip-hop style whose roots are in Miami Bass Music, and whose soul is forever in New Orleans. So, instead of the usual “I was influenced by Big Daddy Kane and Rakim!”, Dwayne recalls: “I was influenced by Pimp Daddy and U.N.L.V. (Uptown Niggas Livin Violent).” One can only be surprised how well Wayne was aware, because at that time neither Pimp Daddy nor U.N.L.V. were not signed to any label, although they were already underground stars (and a little later they were signed to Cash Money, but that's another story.

NEW DAD

At 93, at the age of ten, Vizzy met an artist signed to the fledgling Cash Money Records label named Lil Slim. As often happens, he amazes him with his rap. We can only guess how a ten-year-old child could impress a grown man, but Slim promises to introduce him to the management of his own label - Brian "Baby" Williams and Ronald "Slim" Williams. This happens after six months.

It is worth noting that the policy of the Cash Money label was radically different: they tried to take quality, to gather the best rappers in New Orleans under one flag, so they failed to immediately impress the label’s CEO. As a consolation prize, Baby leaves Dwayne her business card, saying “call me when you grow up.”

Vizzy wasted no time dialing Cash Money, whereupon the label head generously, ala Tyler Durden, said, “Now I see that you really want to be a rapper.” And he joined him with the second child on the label - Gangsta D aka Lil Doogie. This is how the group B.G.’z (Baby Gangstaz) appeared, which, however, lasted only a couple of months. However, they managed to release their debut promo EP “True Story” in the same year 93.

An interesting story happened with him: Lil’ Doogie read an order of magnitude more on this EP, due to the fact that he was older than Wayne and it just so happened that the name B.G. stuck with him, and Baby D (as Dwayne called himself at that time) was credited as a guest on several tracks when the full album “True Story” was released.

At that time, Cash Money had an active beef with another New Orleans label, Big Boy (known only for the fact that Mystikal came out of their ranks). One day, Vizzy’s mother heard her beloved only son’s diss at an enemy company and... forbade him to communicate with Cash Money and wear military clothing (don’t forget that the guy was only 11 years old).

But her ban did not last long... Soon Dwayne's stepfather is killed, and the only person who was nearby was Baby. “I remember how I called him and calmly said just a couple of words, something like: “OK, yes, he died ...”, Wayne will recall much later, “Baby picked me up, put me in his car, and I cried there in the backseat, I was shocked... Then he looked me in the eyes and said, “Hey nigga, you're crying like you lost your dad, what the fuck,” and from that day on, Baby became my only father, and we're friends We won’t lose a friend.”

THE BEST THING LIVING

Time passed, Vizzy (under the more familiar name Lil’ Wayne) appeared from time to time on the albums of Cash Money artists, but there were no active projects with his participation. Everything changed when in 1997 a turning point decision was made for the label - a group was formed consisting of B.G., Juvenile, Young Turk and Lil' Wayne - Hot Boys, an all-star group, as they were called. In fact, “Hot Boys” is the name of a New Orleans gang of the first half of the twentieth century. According to legend, when they were finally caught, the city's crime rate plummeted.

The group's first album blew up Louisiana, although the scattering of fragments did not exceed the state's borders. It sold about 400 thousand copies, which was an incredible amount for an independent label, thanks to which the major Universal drew the attention of Cash Money Records. A contract was signed for 30 million, according to which Cash Money Records came under the wing of this giant.

During this time, Wizzy changed his style significantly. His new idol was his namesake Jay-Z, hence the peculiarities of the reading. On his albums since 2000, this kind of imitation of Jigga can be heard more clearly, which Wayne does not deny.

The next Hot Boys album broke the bank: a platinum certificate plus wild popularity, but according to the laws of the genre, the fairy tale ended in a timely manner. One by one, the band members left Cash Money, but the comparison with rats fleeing a sinking ship was inappropriate here.

This ship was kept afloat by the minor Lil' Wayne. The beginning of his solo career was marked in 1999, when he was not yet 18 years old. Wayne's specific rapping + Mannie Fresh beats combined perfectly, the first single "Tha Block Is Hot" blew up as expected, and the album sold millions of copies. Then in 2000, Wayne + Fresh cemented their success with the gold-plated “Lights Out.”

When Cash Money fell on hard times and artists began to leave, the label's CEO decided to call Vizzy's next album 500 Degreez, as a supposed sequel to Cash Money's most successful album, Juvenile 400 Degreez. As might be expected, Juve, who left the label, was offended. No joke!

In anger, he whipped up either a bootleg or a mixtape of dubious quality called “600 Degreez,” on which he presented the world with his diss track on Lil’Wayne called “A Hoe.” Претензии стандартные: «Ты никого не убил, а у тебя набита слеза, я тебя не видел на районе, ты не ниггер, ты дыра», и все в таком же духе. Vizzy commented on this attack calmly: “I have no idea what the diss is, I didn’t hear it. Maybe there was something there, it doesn't matter to me. I do not forget my own and, if anything, I will give my life for any of our former team, be it B.G., my Niger Turk or the same Juve. ”

Of course, this surprised the hip-hop community a lot, especially those who remembered how smartly Weezy dropped Big Boy Records, which never hurt him personally. Moreover, on his next album, Tha Carter, there was a song “I Miss My Dawgs”, dedicated to the escaped Juvenile, Turk and B.G., and there were no threats in this track.

By the way, this album (“The Carter”) is interesting at least because it is the first album of an adult Wayne, his lyrics became deeper, the themes were broader... and his pride increased: in the very first single he declares “I'm cash money Makaveli, ya ain't ready... The best rapper alive since the best retired rapper (I'm Cash Money's Machiavelli... (Tupac allusion) I'm the best rapper alive since the best retired (Jay-Z allusion))" .

PRESIDENT CARTER #3

Time, as we already noted, passed, performers came and went on Cash Money, one thing remained unchanged - Lil' Wayne and Baby, who called each other relatives. Therefore, again, out of the blue the statement made by Wayne himself in 2005 that he was leaving the label where he spent more than half his life and was moving to Def Jam to the beloved Jigga. True, in the end, the statement did not justify itself and Vizzy remained on Cash Money, but he himself commented: “In fact, I was really going to Jay-Z. But the situation at Cash Money changed for the better, and I stayed,” which did not at all exclude the possibility of leaving. Baby said: “Wayne was part of the label and will always be. We are Family!".

There are many rumors that Wayne is under some influence of Baby and does everything that his “master orders” him, but authoritative publications prefer to attribute this to paranoid fiction, which means you and I will do the same.

Despite the fact that Vizzy has a 6-year-old daughter from his own stylist, he is still a single man, but what adds to his authority is the fact that he constantly has affairs with the most beautiful girls, and what kind! Wayne's girlfriend was once none other than da baddest bitch, Trina from Miami. Their union was also just a rumor for a long time and in interviews they stated that they were “just friends,” but after the joint song “Don’t Trip” in an interview with Sister 2 Sister magazine, Trina admitted that they were having an affair and giggled stupidly for a long time. Later, in an interview with Vibe magazine, she said that they “are both incredibly happy and we, the readers, don’t need to know anything more.” Weezy limited himself to the stingy “we fucking understand each other, because we are both rappers.” True, Eden did not last so long, and soon Lauren London, a famous model and courtesan, fell into the insidious network of Wizzy, who had already grown his now famous dreadlocks. The drug addict with the eternal glass in his hand charmed the girl so much that she instantly became pregnant. In September 2009, she gave birth to Carter's new, now third, offspring. And soon the fourth arrived, whose mother is the singer Nivea. Our hero, Dwayne Michael Carter, turned out to be such a ladies' man.

By the way, about the rapper's name. In interviews, the artist often admitted that he asks people to call him Wayne, without the “d” at the beginning. “I dropped the “d” because my father is still alive and I don’t want to be a junior. I prefer the name Wayne."

By mid-2005, B.G. and Juve finally quarreled with Lil’ Wayne, however, all that can be heard from Carter about them is a short “F**k” in the next interview. He did not organize diss songs or any actions like G-Unot. The f**k list was eventually joined by Mannie Fresh, a former Cash Money beatmaker who, in turn, “abandoned the boat.” After his departure from the label, Vizzy was elevated to the rank of "President of Cash Money Records".

What this title gives is still a mystery, because the owners of the label are still the Williams brothers. But things become clearer when Wayne Carter is announced as president of Cash Money's new division, Young Money Records. “Finally, I have complete freedom, and nothing fucking bothers me now,” says Vizzy, grinning his serrated teeth with joy.

His 2005 album Tha Carter II sold millions of copies and received the title of "Best Cash Money album ever" from critics, and Wayne himself was named one of the best lyricists in the south.

NEW PROJECTS, NEW CONCERNS

In 2006, he is also up to his neck in business: first, Vizzy is working on a joint album with Baby aka Birdman, the title of which “Like Father, Like Son” again emphasizes their “kinship”. In addition, another interesting project has gone into development - the album “I Can’t Feel My Face” with “diplomat” Juelz Santana, which was first conceived as a mixtape, but should be released as a full-fledged album.

In addition, there were many rumors about the revival of the Hot Boyz: supposedly B.G., Juvenile and Mannie Fresh were ready to record a new album, but on the condition that the hated Baby would not be on it. Wayne seems to stand behind his stepfather. But there is no fire without smoke. The old gang seems to have crawled to the studio and are recording a new album. Release is scheduled for 2010.

The release of Tha Carter III was planned for 2008. The fate of this miserable album is amazing. During almost all of 2007, it was postponed from one date to another. Finally, the fans breathed freely: Cash Money announced that the final release was set for early summer 2008. And then, a new scandal: a few days before the premiere, the finished album was leaked to the Internet. And it’s all because of Wayne’s “innocent” phrase in an interview with Foundation magazine: “F*ck all mixtape deejays.” The angry DJs immediately took revenge on the rapper. But this action did not suffer any serious losses in sales, and all thanks to the loyal fans who gave their idol the first million copies sold in the first week. This level has not been achieved by any rapper since 50 Cent launched his mega-successful “The Massacre” in March 2005. As a result - 3X platinum and a wild success of the tour.

Vizzy considers 2009 to be the happiest and most fruitful year for the label. “We've signed a lot of new artists, from Bow Wow to brand new entertainer Drake. I don't want to know what happened between Bow Wow and Jermaine, but he's my dude now. And Drake - we found him in Canada, and believe me, he has a great future! We are currently working on several albums at once. Baby, Jay Sean and Kevin Rudolf have already launched new releases. Me and Drake are on the way. Plus a compilation from my label. All OK."

But now, reviewing news blogs, you can disappoint Vizzy: the court sentenced the rapper to a year in prison for illegal possession of weapons. And although the release date for the seventh album has already been set - February 1, 2010 - it is possible that we will have to wait. But our hero hopes that he will do without extremes; he also needs to work in the studio.

A legendary career, a unique style, a unique flow, notoriety, millions of albums sold around the world, the self-proclaimed title of “the greatest rapper alive” - all this is about one man. Lil Wayne is undoubtedly one of the most exciting artists of his generation and has been delighting us with his music for two decades. Wayne Carter began his journey in rap at the age of 9, so by the age of 35, the musician’s catalog includes an incredible number of songs. 11 solo albums, several collaborations with other artists, more than 2 dozen mixtapes and hundreds of joint tracks on other people’s releases - a lot of cool material has been collected, so there are also plenty of opinions about Mr. Carter’s best songs among his fans. We do not pretend to name exactly your favorite works. Instead, here's a mixtape of some truly iconic songs from Wayne's career.

Lil Wayne Music Albums

As mentioned earlier, Lil Wayne has released 11 solo albums, as well as several collaborations (notably with Birdman and 2 Chainz). And of course, we shouldn’t forget about the legendary group “Hot Boys”, in which Vizzy began his long career and took part in the recording of two LPs.

But we are still more interested in Lil Wayne's independent works. The first of them was recorded back in 1999, and the last in 2015. Among them were both true masterpieces and creations that, to put it mildly, raised doubts among listeners. To begin with, we will highlight the most successful, in our opinion, Wayne Carter albums.

  • Tha Carter, 2004

The most successful creative streak in Lil Weezy’s life is undoubtedly the “Tha Carter” album series. The first part was released in 2004 and marked a stage in the rapper’s noticeable maturation. Compared to the previous three albums released in his early teens, “Tha Carter” sounds closer to what we are used to hearing from Wayne. On it he scored such hits as “Go DJ”, “This Is The Carter”, “Bring It Back”. Almost all the tracks were produced by Cash Money's in-house beatmaker Mannie Fresh. The album received mostly positive reviews from critics and was certified gold by the RIAA.

  • Tha Carter II, 2005

"Tha Carter II" was released in 2005 and went platinum. It is considered by many to be Wizzy's best album and includes such cool tracks as “Fireman”, “Tha Mobb”, “Best Rapper Alive”, “Hustler Musik”, “Shooter” and others. It is on the cover of “Tha Carter II” that “the best rapper alive” first appears in his now familiar form - in dark glasses and with dreadlocks. The album became one of the best examples of southern rap of the 2000s, and if anyone had previously doubted Lil Wayne’s potential, then after the second part of “Carter” these doubts were completely dispelled.

  • “Like Father, Like Son”, 2006

Probably everyone knows the story of Lil Wayne and Birdman: the latter, having heard the freestyle of 9-year-old Wayne Carter, signed him to his label “Cash Money” and after that became practically a father to the boy. Despite the fact that in recent years their relationship has completely deteriorated, they also experienced great times together. In 2006, “father and son” teamed up and recorded a joint album with the eloquent title “Like Father Like Son”. This was the beginning of the “golden era” for Cash Money. The release received mostly positive reviews from critics in the United States. Although some publications noted that it was aimed more at making money, this did not stop the New Orleans duo from recording such excellent songs as “Stuntin Like My Daddy”, “Leather So Soft”, “You Ain`t Know”, “Cali Dro " and others. The album went gold and is still perceived by Cash Money fans as a nostalgic reminder of the times when “everything was good in the family.”

  • Tha Carter III, 2008

If you ask a passerby on the street to name a Lil Wayne track offhand, then 90% of the time he will tell you a song from the album “Tha Carter III”. This creation of Wizzy is rightfully considered a classic and deserves the highest praise. Almost all critics and fans of rap music agree that it was in 2008 that he reached the peak of his career (although, of course, what the hell is not joking, if “Tha Carter V” is released, this could still change). The third “Carter” differs from Lil Wayne’s previous works both in the variety of topics addressed by the artist and in the novelty of the production. David Banner, The Alchemist, Cool & Dre, Kanye West, Swizz Beatz, Bangladesh and others worked on the music. It was a step away from typical Southern rap. As it turned out, the step was 100% correct. The album went triple platinum and cemented Wayne's place among the most influential and original rap stars of his era.

Almost every song on “Tha Carter III” claims to be a masterpiece. And yet the most famous were probably “A Milli”, “Lollipop”, “Mrs. Officer" and "Mr. Carter".

  • "Tha Carter IV", 2011

This album by Wayne caused conflicting emotions among most critics and listeners. It was delayed for a long time due to the fact that the rapper was serving a sentence in prison, was re-recorded several times and was accompanied by not the best mood of Wizzy. The consequence of this was a more depressive mood of the texts. According to many, it was after “Tha Carter IV” that Lil Wayne’s career went downhill. The record contains many big names (like, in general, almost all previous albums), but is significantly inferior to the third part of “Carter”. Guest appearances included Cory Gunz, Rick Ross, Tech N9ne, Nas, Jadakiss, Drake and many others. Even though this is not Vizzy's strongest album, there are some very powerful songs on it. The most notable ones are “6 Foot 7 Foot”, “She Will”, “John”, “How To Love”.

"Tha Carter IV" went double platinum and showed that even if Lil Wayne isn't at his best, his album is still better than 90% of mainstream rap albums.

Other albums by Lil Wayne

Above we named the most successful (in our opinion) Lil Wayne records. But his musical heritage also includes other, not so bright albums. Let's talk briefly about them.

Vizzy's first solo works were released in 1999 and 2000. The albums “Tha Block Is Hot” and “Lights Out” are characterized by youthful immaturity and minimal use of profanity (which sounds somewhat surprising considering the subsequent work of Wayne Carter). Colleagues from the Hot Boys took part in the recording, and Cash Money's permanent beatmaker at that time, Mannie Fresh, was responsible for the production. These works introduced the young rapper to the general public and showed that in the future he has the potential to become a very interesting artist.

Wayne's 500 Degreez album was recorded and released in 2002, a tumultuous time for his label. At that time, the main “moneymakers” of Cash Money - the Hot Boys group broke up due to the Juvenile riot. Naturally, Lil Wayne stayed with Birdman and company.

Without exaggeration, this work of his can be called one of the most “empty”, not original and, to be honest, the most unsuccessful in general. Despite some decent songs like “Look At Me,” “Bloodline,” and “Young`N`Blues,” it sounds like a passable album for Southern rap at the time.

We also didn't mention “Rebirth”. Lil Wayne released this creation in 2010 and, according to everyone, he did it in vain. Apparently our hero got bored and decided to play rock star for a bit. It turned out frankly weak because Vizzy’s “auto-tuned” vocal abilities were not enough to sing passably, and the music was not original for such a multifaceted style as rock. This is definitely the worst album of Carter's entire career, notable for the fact that it contains a bright collaboration with Eminem - perhaps the only bright spot in the entire playlist.

In 2011 and 2013, Wayne released two albums in the “I`m Not A Human Being” series. The first part was received quite warmly by critics and fans. Although the album was inferior to “The Carters,” it was significantly better than “Rebirth” and deserved its “gold” certificate. The main single from the album was a collaboration with Drake, “Right Above It”.

The second part did not receive such favorable criticism and although it also earned its “gold,” it was clear that Wayne’s past merits played into Wayne’s hands. The album sold significantly worse than its predecessors and marked the beginning of a real “black” streak in the career of the once main star of the South.

In 2015, Lil Wayne signed a deal with Jay-Z and released the album “Free Weezy Album” exclusively for Jay’s streaming service Tidal. The work was released due to another delay of “Tha Carter V”. But at the same time, both American music experts and fans around the world assessed the work done by the rapper quite positively. The former noted that “Wayne sounds confident and more like his old self for the first time since “Tha Carter III,” while the latter simply enjoyed songs such as “Glory,” “My Heart Races On,” “London Roads,” “Psycho.” " and others. “FWA” was streamed more than 10 million times in its first week of release on Tidal.

Lil Wayne is perhaps one of the most successful and popular rappers to ever grace the American scene. The biography of this man is a classic success story of a dark-skinned guy from a dysfunctional family who, against all odds, “made his way” and proved to the world that he is talented and deserves more.

Childhood and youth

The artist's real name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. The future idol of millions was born on September 27, 1982 in the Holly Grove area of New Orleans. Dwayne’s mother was barely 19 years old at that time; the girl worked as a cook. Two years later, the boy's father, Dwayne Carter Sr., left the family, leaving his former lover with a small son in her arms and virtually no means of support.

This act forever predetermined Dwayne’s attitude towards him: the rapper changed his own name at the first opportunity, not wanting to be in any way similar to this man. By removing the first letter, the young man received the name Wayne, under which he became famous.

From early childhood, Wayne attracted the attention of teachers, on the one hand, with his talent and artistry, and on the other, with his disgusting behavior and constant pranks. Already in elementary school, the boy began to write poetry. In addition, Wayne participated in all school plays and even participated in a theater club.

In 1991, Wayne met Brian Williams, who later became known under the pseudonym Birdman. He drew attention to the talented boy and already in 1995 helped to record his first album. 11-year-old Wayne prepared this record in a duet with another teenager, 14-year-old Christopher Dorsey, known as B.G.

The first success inspired Wayne Carter so much that after a couple of years the young man left school to devote all his time and effort to his musical career.

Music

The album “Get It How U Live,” recorded with Terius Gray and Tab Wegel Jr., can be considered the beginning of Wayne Carter’s serious creative work. The team was named “Hot Boys” and instantly gained popularity among fans of rap music. In 1999, “Hot Guys” pleased the audience with their second album, called “Guerilla Warfare”.

The album “The Block Is Hot” is considered to be Carter’s first independent creation, although some of the songs from this record were also performed with the group “Hot Boys”. The album surpassed Wayne's previous records in popularity, receiving platinum status in its first week of sales. It also earned Carter a nomination for Best New Artist.

The year 2000 was marked for the musician with the release of his second solo album, entitled “Lights Out”. This record was inferior in popularity to the previous one, but was awarded the title “gold” by many music channels and publications. And two years later, Lil Wayne presented his third album to the public - “500 Degrees”, which, unfortunately, did not gain the love of listeners.

However, the most important records in Lil Wayne’s creative biography were the records from the “The Carter” series. Their special atmosphere, Carter’s unique style of recitative and the consistent quality of recording gave the musician fans all over the world.

The first album from this collection, “The Carter,” was released in 2004. According to some media estimates, the record sold more than a million copies, and these are only legal copies. Months of number one on all sorts of hit parades and charts raised Lil Wayne's popularity to new heights.

Deciding to strike while the iron was hot, at the beginning of 2005 Lil Wayne released the album “The Carter II”, the title track from which was played everywhere in the United States for a long time. The album itself sold three hundred thousand copies, falling short of the success of the previous one. The musician did not forget about other projects: in 2006, Carter released a joint record with Birdman, which the rappers called “Like Father, Like Son.”

But there were problems with the third album in the “The Carter” series. Shortly before the announced release, several compositions were leaked onto the Internet. Lil Wayne announced to fans that he was postponing the release of the record, and would release the released songs in a separate album, adding four more tracks to them.

As a result, “The Carter III” appeared only in 2008. It is noteworthy that the scandal with the songs posted on the Internet benefited the record: in the first week, more than a million people bought this album. Subsequently, the album became triple platinum and even broke the record of 50 Cent with his album “The Masscare,” which previously held the title of the most commercially successful rap album.

The next album in this series was released in 2011. The fact is that the recording of the tracks and the release itself were constantly postponed either because of the artist’s health or because of his constant problems with the law.

Lil Wayne's subsequent records also turned out to be "problematic": the musician managed to ruin relations with his record company, end up in prison, be released, undergo serious dental surgery, star in a couple of films and release a dozen singles, which were later included in various albums. However, even constant failures to meet the promised deadlines did not make Lil Wayne’s fans turn away from their idol.

Personal life

The rapper's personal life was no less stormy than his musical career. The musician's first wife was a school friend named Anthony Johnson. The woman gave Lil Wayne his first daughter. The girl was named Regina. Unfortunately, this marriage broke up in 2006.

Two years later, in 2008, the man had a son, Dwayne. Lil Wayne's new lover, Sarah Vivan, became the baby's mother. However, Carter did not stay with this girl for long. The rapper's next chosen one was the beautiful model Lauren London, who gave the musician a son, Cameron. In the same 2009, Lil Wayne's fourth child was born - the boy Neil, whose mother was singer Nivea.

In 2014, fans learned about Lil Wayne's new novel. This time, the passion of the charismatic musician (by the way, Carter’s height is 1.65 m) was the popular singer and actress Christina Milian. But this girl also failed to capture the rapper’s heart for long. A year later, the couple announced their breakup.

After this, Lil Wayne was often credited with having relationships with various models and singers, including, but there is no confirmed information on this yet.

Lil Wayne now

Now, unfortunately for fans, the attention of the music community is focused not on Lil Wayne’s work, but on the musician’s health. The press is not discussing the singer’s clips and photos, but his latest hospitalization: in the fall of 2017, Carter was admitted to the hospital after an epileptic attack. Let us remind you: this is not the first case of the disease. A year earlier, Lil Wayne was already undergoing treatment for epilepsy.

That's why "Instagram" and other social networks are full of posts with condolences from fans and wishes for Lil Wayne to return to music as soon as possible.

It's amazing how much hip-hop is influenced by fashion. And the point here is not only the popularity of all kinds of trends and their fans, it’s a matter of love for “dislike”. Like in the old song: “I love to hate you.”

It’s no secret that the Russian folk rapper feels the greatest hatred for southern rap and all kinds of performers with the prefix “Lil”, because they are “small”. Although these hated rappers are often much more mature than their fellow haters.

What am I getting at? To the terrible enemy of all opponents of “not rap, but southern ass shaking”, the potential victim of all those who like to throw mud at the already “dirty” south - Lil Wayne, also known as Birdman Jr., Young Tune, Weezy F. Baby, Weezy Fuckin Baby and much more.

I advise all haters to close the page and go write on some forum (preferably not a forum site) something like “damn, what a piece of crap this Lil’ Wayne is!” and calm down, and we will begin...

On September 27, 1982, in some dirty maternity hospital, or maybe even at home, in the disgustingly criminal and incredibly hot 17th ward neighborhood of New Orleans, a baby was born, who was given the name Dwayne Michael.

Despite everything, a certain Reginald Carter, nicknamed Rabbit, tried to somehow raise his family throughout Dwayne’s childhood; he replaced the future rapper’s father, and at the same time gave him the presidential surname “Carter”.

Vizzy's studies were extremely bad: of course, it's hard to study and hang around on the street, in crime-ridden Orleans, with friends, listening to rap, at the same time. And then on the streets of this, dare I say it, exotic city we listened to absolutely amazing and unique performers. Here it would be worth delving a little deeper into the history of New Orleans music: that completely incompetent label “bounce”, which haters of southern rap so love to hang these days, is in fact a style of hip-hop, the roots of which are in Miami Bass Music, and the soul is forever in New Orleans. So, instead of the usual “I was influenced by Big Daddy Kane and Rakim!”, Dwayne recalls: “I was influenced by Pimp Daddy and U.N.L.V. (Uptown Niggas Livin Violent).” One can only be surprised how well Wayne was aware, because at that time neither Pimp Daddy nor U.N.L.V. were not signed to any label, although they were already underground stars (and a little later they were signed to Cash Money, but that's another story).

FUTURE DADS

It is worth noting that the policy of the Cash Money label was radically different: they tried to take quality, to gather the best rappers of New Orleans under one flag, so they failed to immediately impress the label’s CEO. As a consolation prize, Baby leaves Dwayne her business card, saying “call me when you grow up.”

Vizzy wasted no time dialing Cash Money, after which the label head generously, ala Tyler Durden, said: “Now I see that you really want to be a rapper.” And he joined him with the second child on the label - Gangsta D aka Lil Doogie. This is how the group B.G.’z (Baby Gangstaz) appeared, which, however, lasted only a couple of months. However, they managed to release their debut promo EP "True Story" in the same year 93.

An interesting story happened with him: Lil’ Doogie read an order of magnitude more on this EP, due to the fact that he was older than Wayne and it just so happened that the name B.G. stuck with him, and Baby D (as Dwayne called himself at that time) was credited as a guest on several tracks when the full album "True story" was released.

At that time, Cash Money had an active beef with another New Orleans label, Big Boy (known only for the fact that Mystikal came out of their ranks). One day, Wizzy’s Mother heard her beloved only son dissing an enemy company and... forbade him to communicate with Cash Money and wear military clothing (don’t forget that the guy was only 11 years old).

But her ban did not last long... Soon Dwayne's stepfather is killed and the only close person who was nearby turned out to be Baby. “I remember how I called him and calmly said just a couple of words, something like: “Okay, yes, he died ...”, Wayne will remember much later - Baby picked me up, put me in his car, and I cried there in the back seat, I was in shock... Then he looked me in the eyes and said: “Hey, nigga, you're crying like you lost your father, what the fuck” and from that day on, Baby became my only father, and we are not each other We'll lose."

THE BEST THING LIVING

Time passed, Lil’ Wayne, under a name more familiar to us, appeared from time to time on the albums of Cash Money artists, but there were no active projects with his participation.

On his albums since 2000, this kind of imitation of Jiga can be heard more clearly, which Wayne does not deny.

Wayne's specific rapping + Mannie Fresh beats combined perfectly, the first single "The Block Is Hot" blew up as expected, and the album sold millions of copies. Wayne + Fresh then followed it up in 2000 with the gold-plated "Lights Out".

When Cash Money fell on hard times and artists began to leave, the label's CEO decided to call Vizzy's next album "500 Degreez", as a supposed sequel to Cash Money's most successful album, Juvenile "400 Degreez". As might be expected, Juve, who left the label, was offended. No joke!

In anger, he whipped up either a bootleg or a mixtape of dubious quality called “600 Degreez,” on which he presented to the world his diss track on Lil’Wayne called “A hoe.” Претензии стандартные: "Ты никого не убил, а у тебя набита слеза, я тебя не видел на районе, ты не ниггер, ты дыра", и все в таком же духе. Vizzy commented on this attack calmly: “I have no idea what the diss is, I didn’t hear it. Maybe there was something there, it doesn’t matter to me. I don’t forget my people and, if anything, I’m for any of our ex I will give my life to the team, be it B.G., my nigga Turk or the same Juve."

Of course, this surprised the hip-hop community a lot, especially those who remembered how smartly Wizzy put down Big Boy Records, which never hurt him personally.
Moreover, on his next album The Carter there was a song “I Miss My Dawgs”, dedicated to the escaped Juvenile, Turk and B.G., and there were no threats in this track.

By the way, this album (“The Carter”) is interesting at least because it is the first album of an adult Wayne, his lyrics have become deeper, the themes have become broader... and his pride has increased: in the very first single he declares “I'm cash money Makaveli, ya ain't ready... The best rapper alive since the best retired rapper (I'm Cash Money's Machiavelli... (Tupac allusion) I'm the best rapper alive since the best retired (Jay-Z allusion))" .

PRESIDENT CARTER-3

Time, as we already noted, passed, performers came and went on Cash Money, one thing remained unchanged - Lil' Wayne and Baby, who called each other relatives. Therefore, again, out of the blue the statement made by Wayne himself in 2005 that he was leaving the label where he spent more than half his life and was moving to Def Jam to the beloved Jig. True, in the end, the statement did not justify itself and Vizzy remained on Cash Money, but he himself commented: “In fact, I was really going to Jay-Z. But the situation on Cash Money changed for the better, and I stayed.” , which did not at all exclude the possibility of leaving. Baby said: "Wayne was part of the label, and will always be. We are family!"

There are many rumors that Wayne is under some influence of Baby and does everything that his “master orders” him, but authoritative publications prefer to attribute this to paranoid fiction, which means we will do the same.

And in general there is always an amazing amount of rumors swirling around Wizzy. For example, when Young Jeezy left Boyz N Da Hood, and the group was looking for a fourth member, everyone vying with each other to get Trick Daddy or Wayne there.

Despite the fact that Vizzy has a 6-year-old daughter from his own stylist, he is still a single man, but with a girl, and what a girl! Wayne's girlfriend is none other than the baddest bitch Trina from Miami. Their union was also just a rumor for a long time and in interviews they stated that they were “just friends,” but after the joint song “Don’t Trip” in an interview with Sister 2 Sister magazine, Trina admitted that they were having an affair and giggled stupidly for a long time. Later, in an interview with VIBE magazine, she said that they “are both incredibly happy and we, the readers, don’t need to know anything else.” Wizzy limited himself to the stingy “we fucking understand each other, because we are both rappers.” Just like that.

By mid-2005, B.G. and Juve finally quarreled with Lil’ Wayne, however, all that can be heard from Carter about them is a short “Fuck” in the next interview. He did not organize diss songs or any actions like G-Unot. The fuck list was eventually joined by Mannie Fresh, a former Cash Money beatmaker who, in turn, “abandoned the boat.” After his departure from the label, Vizzy was elevated to the rank of "President of Cash Money Records".

What this title gives is still a mystery, because the owners of the label are still the Williams brothers. Wayne himself, when asked what kind of position this is, answers this way: “I work more creatively. I answer thousands of questions: “Wayne, what do you think about this? Wayne, what should we do?"

His latest album, "The Carter II," sold millions of copies and received the title of "Best Cash Money album ever" from critics, and Wayne himself was named one of the best lyricists in the south.

At the moment, he is up to his neck in business: in addition to a new solo album, “The Carter III,” scheduled for 2007, Vizzy is also working on a joint album with Baby, the working title of which is “Like Father, Like Son,” again emphasizing their “kinship.” In addition, another interesting project is being prepared - the album “I Can’t Feel My Face” with “diplomat” Juelz Santana, which was first conceived as a mixtape, but now apparently will be released as a full-fledged album.

In addition, there were (and continue to be) a lot of rumors about the revival of the Hot Boyz: supposedly B.G., Juvenile and Mannie Fresh are ready to record a new album, but on the condition that the hated Baby will not be on it. Wayne stands up for his “father” and refuses.

Hurricane Katrina forced the New Orleans star, along with “daddy” Baby, to move to his beloved Trinochka in Miami, and as Wizzy himself sings in the track for DJ Khaled’s album, “Until the rebuild New Orleans that's where I stay (until New Orleans is rebuilt, I will stay here in Miami)".

This is the story of a boy from the ghetto, whose mother did not allow him to swear and wear paramilitary clothing as a child... a real American dream! But this is just the beginning!
