We are going to Nessebar with a child. VII International Art Festival “Constellations in Nessebar” Airport in Burgas

Impressions from a holiday in June

Considering that the summer this year was not very hot, I was glad that we went to sunny Bulgaria in June. We took a last minute trip, especially since we already had Schengen visas. So the vacation turned out to be spontaneous, but very interesting. The weather already allowed not only sunbathing, but also swimming, although in the morning the water was still cool. We set aside several days for excursions, so our trip turned out to be very eventful.

Family holiday

This is a beautiful historical resort town with ecologically clean sandy beaches, cozy family restaurants, colorful narrow streets and beautiful buildings. It is very calm and good to relax here with children, the hotels and restaurants have a fairly high level of service, and the climate is very mild and favorable. And a nice bonus is affordable prices, so you can relax here inexpensively and comfortably with the whole family.

What to take with you on vacation?

When going to the Bulgarian Nessebar, as well as to any other southern resort, you definitely need to take hats, sunglasses and creams with you. It is especially worth choosing good creams for children, since the sun has been very hot since the end of May. Well, you shouldn’t forget about the first aid kit; proven medications should be carried with you on any trip. For walking around the city, I recommend taking shoes with comfortable soles, since the old part of the city is almost completely paved with stones and cobblestones; by the way, driving here with baby strollers is also inconvenient. And so, Nessebar is not a very expensive resort, so even if you forget something, you can always buy swimsuits, some clothes or beach accessories on the spot.

Where is the best place to stay?

If you come to Nessebar to sunbathe and swim, then be sure to choose a hotel on the seashore. As a bonus to the beautiful view, you will receive free daily access to the beach, this is very important, since renting umbrellas and sun loungers on the city beach will hit the budget hard. The sun loungers on the public beach are located so close to each other that it is simply impossible to fit on your own towel or blanket.

What to do at the resort?

The resort is divided into two parts: old and new Nessebar. Old Nessebar is separated from the new part and is a small peninsula, which can be reached by bridge. Here you can walk along narrow streets covered with red tiled roofs, looking at ancient buildings and feeling like a resident of the Middle Ages. The new part of Nessebar is filled with hotels, shops and restaurants. There are plenty of souvenir shops and cosmetics shops here, so you can simply shop and dine at the local taverns and cafes all day. You can also walk along the promenade every day, listening to the sound of the surf and looking at the architectural beauty of the hilly old city.

Shopping in Nessebar is very developed, they sell everything here, but before you find something of high quality and originally Balkan, you will have to go through a bunch of shopping arcades with Chinese trinkets and replicas of famous brands. For souvenirs, we bought magnets and postcards, by the way, we bought them at the post office, the prices are inexpensive, and there is a choice.

About the quality of food and service

There are plenty of cafes and restaurants in Nessebar, the cuisine is mainly European and seafood. The prices are pleasantly surprising, especially after the resorts of Western Europe. There are a lot of meat and fish dishes, here they are served with fresh vegetable salads. No frills, just very filling and tasty. Meat is often grilled here and served with French fries.

How much does it cost to eat? About food prices.

The prices are quite affordable, although in the old part of the city the prices are slightly higher than in the new one, but this is quite justified, and the point is not in the quality of the food, but in the fact that you can overpay for dinner on a narrow rocky street overlooking the church. On average, lunch for two with two meat dishes, drinks and salad cost 25-30 Bulgarian leva, that is, 1000 Russian rubles or a little less.

Advantages of a holiday in Nessebar

Holidays in Nessebar are good because here you can find ancient sights, golden beaches, and cozy restaurants. The prices are pleasantly pleasing. The city is small, so you can explore its beauty without any excursions and feel like a real traveler.

Perhaps the circus, named after the famous Balkan dynasty, can be considered one of the most famous troupes in the country: the troupe’s artists performed in front of the Pope and royal families, set records, toured in dozens of European countries and staged revolutionary acts using animals from all over the world. At the same time, the fate of “Balkansky” itself, woven as if according to some sad pattern inherent in most circuses, cannot be called easy and happy. There was poverty, conflicts with the authorities, and forced escapes of artists...

The history of the dynasty usually begins in 1820, when Joseph Giuntini, an enterprising native of Italy and the great-grandfather of Alexander Balkansky, the current director of the circus, founded his own entertainment establishment under the loud name “Circus Giuntini”. Much later, in 1879, the family of the successful entrepreneur created two subsidiary circuses in Samara and Moscow. Subsequently, the circuses will be renamed, and the chain of tents will receive a romantic, but somewhat faded and expected name - “Virginia”.

In 1916 the circus was nationalized. The previously happy family has to leave Odessa, where the artists were guaranteed triumph, and rush to Italy, a foreign, perhaps inhospitable and demanding country. However, having stopped along the way in the cozy port town of Varna, the family decided to stay in Bulgaria forever.

It was here that four years later, in 1920, one of the family members, performing under the pseudonym Charlie the Clown, dared to found another family circus, Rex. Later the group was renamed “Levsky”, but before the start of World War II the troupe was known under the name “Europe”.

It would seem that, having endured the hardships of war, the circus should have revived. However, no miracle happened. In 1948, when the team barely came to its senses and tried to give performances, the circus was nationalized. To survive, artists, including family members, were forced to join state troupes. This continued until 1989.

And nine years later, in 1998, the family, having collected enough money, bought two large tents in Italy, each designed for 1,800 seats. In 2000, Alexander Balkansky, together with his sons Alexander and Nikolai, created a new family circus in one of them. The second tent is known as the Taj Mahal. Now more than eighty people work in two tents.

"Balkan" is a traditional circus. One of the few, this group attracts not with the brightness of the scenery, rare species of animals and non-trivial approach to the presentation of numbers, but with the skill of the troupe, united and hardworking. The core of the current team that we know now was formed back in 1980. At that time, the artists had only a few areas at their disposal: acrobatics, balancing act with perches, trapeze acts and the wheel of death. The troupe debuted with its five acts in 1981 in Sofia.

A year later, the artists travel to Denmark, where they perform in the famous Benneweis circus, and in 1983 the troupe is invited by the Swiss group Knie. In 1984, the troupe worked in Greece and Italy in the Medrano circus, and from 1985 to 1999 the artists lived in Germany, performing with the Krone circus.

In winter, the artists tour as part of the Americano circus: in 2000-2001 they manage to perform in their homeland, Bulgaria, in 2002 and 2005 they visit Turkey, in 2003-2004 the troupe works in Israel, and in the winters of 2006 and 2007 the troupe again performs at home.

In the history of the group there are dozens of events that one should be proud of: for example, in 1986, 1993 and 2000, the artists gave performances before the Pope in the Vatican, and also participated in performances for the English, Danish, Swedish and Dutch royal families.

In 1983, just three years after its founding, the troupe won the Silver Clown at the Monte Carlo festival, and in 1999 the group received the Golden Lion. And in 1982, Nikolai, the youngest son of Alexander of Balkan, entered the Guinness Book of Records by performing a double somersault on one and two stilts.
