Taist Vervest born on January 17, 1969 in the Dutch town of Breda. His interest in music began very early; at the age of 12 he was already composing something. When he was 14 years old, he was already playing at the local club The Spock on Fridays and Saturdays from 10 pm to 4 am! At that time Breda was not the center of House music, but this created his style of music and the resulting “sound.” DJ Tisto"There were no other DJs there, so he wasn't influenced by anyone else's style of work. Spock is a very small club, but very extravagant, like the Roxy. There was room for 200 people. "It didn't matter if there there were fewer people, I could do what I wanted. The "isolation" from other DJs was only useful. I could develop my music and myself."

Having developed massively in Europe, club culture entered the mainstream, thus raising its level. Thus a new generation of performers, musicians and producers was born. Tijs Verwest aka DJ Tiesto, is one of its representatives.

DJ Tiesto showed a passion for bringing his music to listeners and at the beginning of his career he lived and worked in his native Holland, playing acid house, new beat and some pop music at little-known discos. He liked Madonna's work because her music showed that she loved to dance. Before the release of her albums, dance mixes were already prepared. Just at that time, Madonna's famous hit "Vogue" came out and it was one of the songs played in Spock.
There he was noticed by representatives of the Rotterdam label Basic Beat. For them Thijs mixed his first DJ compilation "Forbidden paradise", which had serious success in Holland.

He soon moved to more famous clubs, where he focused on club and popular music from the Dutch charts. As a result, he settled on house music, a simple hybrid of beats layered with deep bass, and began to create his own musical style. This recipe yielded great results.

Tiësto"brought" trans culture to Holland in 1993, but success came only Tiësto first abroad and only then at home. "A few years ago I was asked to come and play my records all over England and Scandinavia. At the time I was the #1 DJ in Scandinavia, but in my home country no one, except for a certain group of people, was aware of my abilities as a DJ." Jay. It took me about two years to conquer Holland,” says Tiësto.

Like all the greats of the music industry, he went through a tough school of life before reaching the heights. For several years, Tiesto was an ordinary DJ at the Amsterdam party, and then worked on the stage of cheap nightclubs in Germany and England. His first success came in 96, when the Dutch breakthrough occurred. trance/house sound led by such legendary personalities as Vincent De Moor And Ferry Corsten.

In 1997 DJ Tiesto together with his friend and colleague Arnie Bink, he founded his own label Black Hole Recording and begins to release collections of quality house music. The "Forbidden Paradise" and "Guardian Angel label" series were Arny's idea. The compilations of the "In search of sunrise" series and, in particular, "Magik" made Tiesto's name known far beyond the borders of his native Holland. Today, 7 collections have already been released under this brand.

Tiësto loves to play 7-8 hour sets. “Because when you play for about two hours, you never know what happened before you and what will happen after you. You can’t play the same songs by which you will always be recognized... Seven hours is a long time game, and after such a performance I am completely exhausted, because when I play, I need to transfer my feelings into the music. It requires very serious concentration. 15 minutes before the start, I become so lost in myself that I don’t even hear what they are saying to me There's a lot more to playing music than just putting a record on my equipment, tempo is the most important thing in house music. You can play the same tracks two nights in a row, but on one night the audience will be bored, and on the other they will have a blast! Being a DJ and playing is like a sport." There is one musical theme that everyone knows - one of those that DJ Tiesto played on the first Innercity. It was a career explosion for him and his music.

"Innercity was one of the best parties for me that year, not only because it was my breakthrough. I didn't even realize it at the time. But the party was very big and very good. The first Innercity was the first big night for me DJ career, and I think that track was the best I've ever had. It was a super set for a super crowd!"

After Innercity DJ Tiesto was invited to play at festivals Love Parade, Nature One, Gatecrasher Summer 1999 and Hyperstate. He also visited (and continues to visit) Ibiza. "The people who come to Ibiza want only one thing - good music and party! They are all very open and receptive. You don't sleep there at all, because... Party on Ibiza continues 24 hours a day."

Since November 1999, he has been playing every month at Gatecrasher, one of the most famous clubs in England. “Gatecrasher is amazing! When you stand there, you see an ocean of people. It's like a tin can filled with people. Gatecrasher isn't very big, but up to 25,000 people can hang out there. And the public believes you so much! If you're a little depressed while you're playing, they literally save you. They love the breaks, when the beat stops they start screaming and yelling, clapping their hands like the English football team has scored a penalty! It gives you the feeling as if you are giving a concert. The interaction between Gatecrasher and the audience is very special."

Then, in the fall of 1999, he founded a record shop called Magik the recordshop in the center of his hometown Breda in West-Brabant.

In 2000, the collection "Summerbreeze" was released, on which a remix was presented Tiesto to the song "Silence" by the British band Delirium. His success was simply phenomenal. "Silence" spent 4 weeks at the top of the UK charts and reached third place on the American Billboard chart.

Tiesto became incredibly famous among British club owners, although he never played in any club in London. He captivated with his amazing sound Ibiza. Unlike his British colleagues, he enjoys working in Germany, Belgium and even Scandinavia. In 2001 he appeared at all of Britain's major dance festivals and was universally acclaimed for his stunning Homelands, not to mention his Essential Mix on Radio 1. Tiësto also highly rated on Mayday and Nature One.

The fact that it was his professional qualities that formed the basis of his tremendous success can undoubtedly be judged by his first-class remixes of Delerium "The Silence" and "Innocent", Shiller "Das Glckenspiel", Jan Johnston "Flesh" or from his own mixes "Fight 643" and "Suburban Train". Following the success of his compilations "In Search of Sunrise" and "Magick", he recorded his first double DJ CD mix - "Revolution", which was released on Virgin Records in 2001.

Today Tiesto is at the zenith of its glory. Two years in a row (and this is a unique achievement) the influential British magazine DJ Mag calls him the number 1 DJ in the world. Also Tiesto received the title of best DJ at such festivals as Nokia TMF Awards, Dutch DJ Awards, Dancestar USA, MTV Music Awards and many others. He is a resident of the famous British club Cream and, together with Paul Van Dyke, performs at the label's signature parties in Ibiza. His DJ set warmed up the audience before the concerts of such world stars as David Bowie and Moby. In Holland, 25,000 (!) tickets were sold for his joint performance with a symphony orchestra. Tiesto- a global celebrity whose performance was admired by P Diddy, Naomi Campbell and Cameron Diaz. His tour schedule is scheduled a year in advance. His second studio album " Just Be“Critics dubbed it “the biggest sensation of 2004.”

Despite the amazing success in his work, Tijs Verwes the same guy as before. He wants to do something good for the people who were already his friends before his meteoric rise.

Tiësto takes the time to shake the hands of eager fans flocking to his DJ spot during his set (giving security a major headache). One day, at the end of his own set in Amsterdam at 7:00 am, he lingered in the DJ spot because he was signing autographs and talking to his fans. When he ran out of autograph paper, he signed several records of his set and gave them to his fans. This rarely happens among famous DJs.

Tiësto collaborates with such musicians as Armin Van Buuren (Major League and Alibi projects), M.B. de Goeij (Kamaya Painters), Cor Fijneman (Allure), Ferry Corsten (Vimana and Gouryella).

On account Tiësto There are also many great tracks and remixes: Sparkles- one of his most successful hits, Delerium featuring Sarah McLachlan - Silence (Tiësto made a very successful remix) Lunatic Asylum - Cabal (DJ Tiesto Remix), Green Court feat. Division - Shining (DJ Tiesto remix), Flight 643, Subspace Interference.

Producing abilities DJ Tiesto also exhibits extraordinary: Magikal Remake things like Aria One - Willow, Allure - We Ran At Dawn, and especially a great track Yahel - Going Up.

At a time when many DJs are trying to follow the blinding trend of playing only tracks popular with the masses, DJ Tiesto He tries to choose compositions that will surely be remembered for a long time.

In 2004 DJ Tiesto was invited to the opening of the Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, where he played a 90-minute set. This is the highest achievement for a DJ.

A unique blend of it Progressive Trance, mixed with up-beat House, touches the heart strings in every listener. He has an unquenchable passion for music and is not afraid to show this passion in every work he does. Although what he does can hardly be called work - this is a fairly general idea of what he does. Anyone who has ever fallen under the shelter of a passion for creation will understand how the sense of space and time disappears at the moment of immersion in this state. Tiësto is no exception in this sense, at the moment of creating his own music or performing a set at the turntables. Entering a state of trance on the dance floor, this musical genius can perform six-hour sets in high-end clubs like Amnesia on the island of Ibiza. It is as if he is connecting to the source of energy emanating from the dance floor and his connection with the dancing mass of people, which in turn receives an energy charge. This energy feeds his soul, which is the resonator between his music and his fans. Myself Tiësto admits that most of the people experience emotional experiences from his music.

Reasons for success
Understanding the reasons for phenomenal success Tiësto, one cannot fail to mention his character, appearance, unique smile, and manner of communicating with the press and fans. And all this is in addition to the skills required for any good artist to sense his audience, and the ability to leave unforgettable moments in memory. His fans are people of absolutely any age, race and religion.

1969

Then, in 1995

Understanding the reasons for Tiesto's phenomenal success, his initial predisposition to the status of a world star becomes obvious. His character, appearance, unique smile, manner of communicating with the press and fans, even his nickname are simply better than any other contender for the title of the most popular DJ on the planet. And all this is in addition to the skills required for any good artist to sense his audience, and the ability to leave unforgettable moments in memory. His fans are people of any age, race and religion. Tiesto is a man who literally unites continents.

Thijs Vervest - with exactly this name on January 17 1969 The future master of turntables and a legend of dance music was born in the Dutch city of Brada. His interest in music manifested itself at a fairly tender age. Listening to a radio show by Ben Lybrand, who mixed parts of various songs live and created remixes, young Thijs became inspired to do something similar.

Already at the age of 12, he began creating his first records and performing in the vicinity of his hometown with his own “mobile show.” Soon Tiesto - as his friends called him, pronouncing his real name in Italian - was already spinning records at student parties, and at the age of 16 he became a resident of The Spock nightclub. Interestingly, the Dutch club culture at that time was only in its infancy, and the young DJ was left to his own devices in choosing his playing style. Mixing Dutch pop music and the emerging acid house of that time, the talented Thijs Vervest managed to develop his own style of performing and become famous among the local public.

However, in those years it was difficult to support oneself by working as a disc jockey - so during the daytime, Tiesto had to work as a postman and a salesman in an audio-video store. “Music has always been my first and main love, but back then I could not even imagine that I could make a living as a DJ. Perhaps now I would be a chef - I love to cook, and chefs make mixes too!” – Thijs himself jokes.

Selling records in the Rotterdam Basic Beat store, Tiesto easily made useful contacts and received invitations to perform in various clubs in the Netherlands and neighboring countries - England, Norway, Germany. His passion could not go unnoticed, and soon Thijs received an offer to record a mix collection for his own employer. The disc, called "Forbidden Paradise", was a great success in the country and gave a significant impetus to the DJ's career.

Then, in 1995 year, Tiesto for the first time seriously took up the creation of his own music - and also quickly achieved success in this. “The house music I was playing back then wasn’t too complicated,” says the Dutchman. - I thought - these are just drums and a bass line, everything is quite simple by ear, why don’t I try to do the same. So I just went to the store, bought myself some hardware, some programs, and began to study it all.”

As you know, the study was successful, as a result of which for more than 10 years Tiesto’s creations have regularly taken music charts across the planet by storm.

In November 1997 Thijs Vervest, together with his friend and colleague named Arnie Bink, founded his own recording company - the Black Hole Recordings label. It was the “Black Hole” that later became the home for all the records, albums and collections released by Tiesto. Mixes of the series “In Search Of Sunrise”, “Nyana” and, especially, “Magik” made his name known far beyond the borders of his native Netherlands.

Within a few years the label had grown to significant size, and 2001 year, Tiesto decided to create his own personal division on it for the release of selected recordings, called Magik Muzik. “I founded Magik Muzik for my own compositions and the works of people in whom I have high hopes,” Thijs notes. “Everything that is released here can be heard in my sets, which makes this label something of my little personal project.” It was this “project” that for the first time sheltered many talented world-famous musicians, including Umek, Mark Norman and Mojado.

Today, Black Hole Recordings is one of the largest independent labels in dance music, releasing dozens of hit songs every month.

Tiesto's performance at the Innercity festival in Amsterdam in the fall turned out to be a real breakthrough. 1998 of the year. This is exactly the case when Thijs woke up famous the next day. The disc of the same name, which he recorded specifically for this event, sold more than 100,000 copies in the Netherlands alone. From that moment on, the smooth transformation of an ordinary club DJ into the main conqueror of thousands of stadiums and squares began.

Soon Tiesto was invited to the famous Love Parade, Nature One, Gatecrasher and Mayday festivals. His debut in the best clubs of Ibiza was not long in coming. The popularity of the DJ, supported by the success of his own music, grew like a snowball. Tiesto was the first in the world to play multi-hour solo sets - surprisingly, the audience was willing to pay money and dance all night to the music of a single DJ. His longest set took place in Amsterdam, lasting more than 13 hours. Well, the real record was the debut “Tiesto in Concert” - the world’s first concert show by a DJ using live vocals and percussion, held in 2003 year in Dutch Arnhem. A whole stadium gathered to watch this action - more than 25,000 tickets were sold out long before the start of the event.

The concert was extremely popular with the public and aroused many rave reviews, as a result of which a DVD with a recording of the performance was sold all over the world. The following year, “Tiesto in Concert” already attracted 35,000 people for two nights in a row, and for dessert another 20,000 a week later in Belgium.

Among the huge number of awards and prizes that Thijs Vervest has since begun to receive more and more often, the most important is the title of the first DJ on the planet in the annual ranking of the authoritative British magazine DJ Mag. Beginning with 2002 year, his readers and Internet users recognized Tiesto as their top favorite for three years in a row - no other DJ can boast of such an achievement. Tiesto was and remains the most popular DJ on the planet - this is evidenced by the number of his fans who are ready to instantly gather for his performance in any country in the world.

Without a doubt, the unsurpassed pinnacle of Tiesto's career is his performance at the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games in Greece. 2004 year. For two hours, during the traditional Parade of Athletes, Tiesto performed exclusively his own compositions in front of 75,000 spectators and a huge television audience, which various sources estimate at a whopping 2 - 4 billion people. “Once I was performing in Greece, and a guy came up to me and simply said: “I like the way you play, would you like to perform at the Olympics?” Tiesto says, not without a smile. “That’s how it all happened!”

For their successes and real popularization of Dutch culture on the planet, in May 2004 Thijs Vervest was awarded the title of Knight of the Orange Order - receiving it from the hands of the Royal Family of the Netherlands. Since then, almost every Dutch boy dreams of becoming a DJ: “When Holland wins the European Football Championship, all the children dream of becoming football players,” says Dutchman Misja Helsloot, a friend of Tiesto. “In the same way, when Thijs became the first DJ on the planet, performed at the Olympics, and even received the title of Knight - there were a lot of little DJs around!”

IN 2000 year, the Tiesto remix of the song "Silence" by the British group Delerium, with the vocals of the famous singer Sarah McLachlan, was released. The success of the composition was simply phenomenal - the remix stayed at the top of the UK charts for 4 weeks, and reached third place on the American Billboard chart: it was the first electronic dance track to receive such active rotation on American radio stations during the daytime. By the way, “Silence” remains one of Thijs’ favorite compositions to this day, and is rightfully considered a classic of dance music.

However, remixes are not Tiesto’s main trump card, although compositions by such performers as Madonna, Saint Etienne, Radiohead, Moby, Cirque Du Soleil and many others have been processed. Chart hits 2001 -2002 years, the compositions “Flight 643”, “Lethal Industry”, “Suburban Train” - all of them were included in his debut album “In My Memory”, the melodies of which forever settled in the memory of fans of Tiesto’s talent.

Much greater success awaited his next album “Just Be”, the singles of which – “Love Comes Again”, “Traffic” and the song of the same name “Just Be” with the vocals of the legendary singer Kirsty Hawkshaw, were probably heard by everyone. It was these compositions that first made such a massive breakthrough of dance music into the pop charts, while remaining “at home” in the club world: during the day, Tiesto’s videos can be found on any music channel, and at night, the public dances with pleasure to the same music in discos.

At the end 2005 year, Tiesto decided to take a short break and somewhat slowed down his activity: to soon return with renewed vigor and begin to conquer new heights. Already in the summer of next year, the masses started talking about him again: Tiesto created a remix of the title theme of the Hollywood blockbuster “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.”

At the same time, Thijs Vervest took on the duties of a goodwill ambassador for the international organization Dance4Life (“Dance for Life”), whose activities are aimed at combating HIV/AIDS. For her, Tiesto created an anthem: the song of the same name “Dance4Life” with the vocals of the lead singer of the group Faithless – Maxi Jazz. This work is still played by many radio stations, and all royalties received from them are directed to the organization’s charitable activities.

2007 The Dutchman began the year with a grand tour of Latin America, where he also performed at a free party on the legendary city beach of Rio de Janeiro: about 200,000 people gathered to listen to Tiesto!

The fruit of long work and the result of many experiments, Tiesto’s new album “Elements of Life” began going on sale in early April. On the very first day it received “golden disc” status in the Netherlands - the premiere batch of the album was sold out instantly. Most likely, a similar fate awaits it in other countries, because most music critics predict the title of “best dance disc of the year” for the album “Elements of Life”.

At the same time, Tiesto has already prepared the next mix of the “In Search Of Sunrise” series for release, and is going on a world tour in support of his album. Over the course of a year and a half, he plans to perform in all the major cities of dozens of countries - Europe, Asia, Australia, in the Middle East, North and South America. The “Elements of Life” show that accompanies his performances promises to surpass the legendary “Tiesto in Concert” in its technical level, and the line-up of accompanying musicians and vocalists is more than impressive.

IN 2008 received a Grammy Award for his album "Elements of Life".

IN 2009 In 2009, Tiësto released his fourth studio album, entitled "Kaleidoscope", which featured collaborations with such musicians as Nelia Furtado, Tegan and Sara, Calvin Harris and Priscilla En.

March 16 2010 year, the DJ released an album with a collection of his best hits called "Magikal Journey: The Hits Collection 1998 2008 ".

In December of the same year, Tiësto was one of the headliners at the ZoukOut music festival 2010 in Singapore.

IN 2011 In 2009, Tiësto released a collection of mixes entitled "Club Life: Volume One Las Vegas", as well as his fifth studio album entitled "Kiss from the Past".

IN 2013 In the year he released another mix album, "Club Life: Volume Three Stockholm", which reached number 16 on the Billboard Top 200 chart.

June 13 2014 Tiesto's sixth studio album, "A Town Called Paradise", was released. The first two singles from the album, "Red Lights" and "Wasted", entered the Billboard top 100 chart.

DJ TIESTO biography, which begins its march from the small Dutch city of Brad, where on January 17, 1969 the favorite of all dance music lovers was born. His real name is Theis Vervest. From an early age he showed a keen interest in music. He absolutely loved listening to Ben Librand on the radio, who mixed excerpts from various musical works and created interesting and unforgettable compositions. Then Theis realized that he also wanted to do similar things.

When the guy was 12 years old, he created his first record and began performing in his hometown. Friends began to call the guy Tiesto Concertos, who began to be very popular not only among friends, but also at various student parties. At the age of 16, real success came to him; he was appointed a resident of The Spock club. An interesting fact is that at that time, the stage of the formation of club music was just beginning in Holland, everyone was in search of the necessary and suitable style. It was thanks to this, and the fact that Theis managed to successfully combine pop music and acid house, which was in its infancy at that time, that DJ TIESTO became so popular.

But those times were so difficult that it was almost impossible to earn a living playing in clubs. Therefore, young DJ Tiesto was forced to work as a salesman and postman in order to somehow provide for himself. At that time, Theis could not even think that someday he would be able to become a famous musician whose creations would excite the blood of many dance floor lovers.

Working in a record store, he easily managed to make necessary and useful contacts, which gave him the opportunity to perform in clubs not only in Holland, but also in England, Norway, and Germany. The guy's hobby attracted the attention of many. And perhaps it is not surprising that one fine day he received an offer to record his first album. This is how the world saw the first DJ TIESTO collection called “Forbidden Paradise”. This work brought him great success in the country and led him to believe that his calling was to be a DJ.

Realizing all his chances of success, in 1995 DJ Tiesto took up his own music. After all, the music he created seemed quite simple; its creation did not require any extra-natural instruments. And besides, she really attracted attention. He made every effort to learn all the intricacies of this music and his training went simply brilliantly. Since for almost 16 years he has been pleasing us with his sounds and melodies.

DJ Tiesto decided not to limit himself only to musical works, so in 1997 he and his friend Arnie Bink created their own music recording studio. It was called Black Hole Recording, which translated means “Black Hole”. It is here that all the famous DJ collections and records are released.

Tiesto's career developed at a rapid pace, but real success came to him in 1998 during a performance at the Amsterdam Innercity festival. Especially for this event, DJ TIESTO released an album of the same name, which was purchased in the amount of 100 thousand copies in the Netherlands alone.

In 2003, DJ Tiesto gave his debut concert in the city of Arnhem, located in Holland. That would be a real success. After all, this was the DJ's first live concert performance. More than 25 thousand people came to see the performance, which was a real sensation.

The concert “hooked” the public so much that it was decided to release a DVD with its recording. This was a real breakthrough, as the video quickly captivated the whole world. The next DJ TIESTO concert was an even greater success and was able to attract more than 35 thousand spectators.

2007 was marked by the fact that DJ Tiesto began his tour in Latin America, and also attended a free party in Rio de Janeiro, where he performed several of his compositions. More than 200 thousand people came to his performance, which could not go unnoticed.

At the moment, the DJ is working on creating his new album, which could please his many fans.

Seven hours is a long game , and after such a performance I am completely exhausted, because when I play, I need to transfer my feelings into the music. It requires very serious concentration. 15 minutes before the start, I become so lost in myself that I don’t even hear what they say to me. Play "Music is so much more than just putting a record on my equipment. Tempo is the most important thing in House music. You can play the same tracks two nights in a row, but one night the audience will be bored, and the next they will have a blast! Be DJing and playing is like a sport." There is one music. a theme that everyone knows - one of those that Tiesto played on the first Innercity. It was a career explosion for him and his music."Innercity was one of the best parties for me that year, not only because it was my breakthrough. I didn't even realize it at the time. But the party was (*very big and very good*). The first Innercity was my first big night DJing and I think that track was the best I've ever had. It was a super set for a super crowd!"

After Innercity, Tiesto was invited to play at the Love Parade, Natur One, Gatecrasher summer 1999 and Hyperstate festivals. He also visited Ibiza. "The people who come to Ibiza want only one thing - good music and party! They are all very open and receptive. I was there three times this summer, a week and twice for 4 days. That's enough! Because you don't sleep there at all. The party in Ibiza goes on 24 hours a day. When you come to Ibiza for a week, that's enough and it's still fun."

Since November 1999 he has played every month at Gatecrasher, the most famous club in England.

Despite his amazing success in his work, Tijs Verwes is the same guy he was before. He wants to do something good for the people who were already his friends before his meteoric rise. In the autumn of 1999 he founded a record shop called "Magik the recordshop" in the center of his home town Breda in West-Brabant. Together with Arny, his business partner, he also founded the Blackhole Recordings label. The Forbidden Paradise series and the Guardian Angel label were Arny's idea.

He then released a number of singles under various aliases, such as Allure, Drumfire, Hammock Brothers, Paradise in Dubs, Passenger, Roze, Stray Dog, Tom Ace and Wild Bunch.

In 2000, the collection “Summerbreeze” was released, which featured Tiesto’s remix of the composition “Silence” by the British group Delirium. His success was simply phenomenal. “Silence” spent 4 weeks at the top of the UK charts and reached third place on the American Billboard chart.

Tiesto became incredibly famous among British club owners, although he never played in any club in London. He conquered Ibiza with his amazing sound. Unlike his British colleagues, he enjoys working in Germany, Belgium and even Scandinavia. In 2001 he appeared at all of Britain's major dance festivals and was universally acclaimed for his stunning Homelands, not to mention his Essential Mix on Radio 1. Tiesto's performance was also praised on Mayday and Nature One.

The fact that it was his professional qualities that formed the basis of his enormous success can undoubtedly be judged by his first-class remixes of Delerium “The Silence” and “Innocent”, Shiller “Das Glckenspiel”, Jan Johnston “Flesh” or by his own mixes of “Fight” 643" and "Suburban Train". Following the success of his In Search of Sunrise and Magik compilations, he recorded his first double DJ CD mix, Revolution, which was released on Virgin Records in 2001.

And today Tiesto is at the zenith of his glory. For two years in a row (and this is a unique achievement), the influential British magazine DJ Mag calls him the number 1 DJ in the world. Tiesto also received the title of best DJ at festivals such as Nokia TMF Awards, Dutch DJ Awards, Dancestar USA, MTV Music Awards and many others. He is a resident of the famous British club Cream and, together with Paul Van Dyke, performs at the label's signature parties in Ibiza. His DJ set warmed up the audience before concerts of such world stars as David Bowie and Moby. In Holland, 25,000 (!) tickets were sold for his joint performance with a symphony orchestra. Tiësto is a global celebrity whose performance has been admired by P Diddy, Naomi Campbell and Cameron Diaz. His tour schedule is scheduled a year in advance. His second studio album, “Just Be,” was dubbed “the biggest sensation of 2004” by critics.

Despite his amazing success in his work, Tijs Verwes is the same guy he was before. He wants to do something good for the people who were already his friends before his meteoric rise.

Tiesto takes the time to shake the hands of eager fans flocking to his DJ spot during his set (giving security a major headache). One day, at the end of his own set in Amsterdam at 7:00 am, he lingered in the DJ spot because he was signing autographs and talking to his fans. When he ran out of autograph paper, he signed several records of his set and gave them to his fans. This rarely happens among famous DJs.

Tiesto collaborates with such musicians as Armin Van Buuren (Major League and Alibi projects), M.B. de Goeij (Kamaya Painters), Cor Fijneman (Allure), Ferry Corsten (Vimana and Gouryella).

Tiesto also has a lot of great tracks and remixes: Sparkles - one of his most successful hits, Delerium featuring Sarah McLachlan - Silence (Tiesto did a very successful remix), Lunatic Asylum - Cabal (DJ Tiesto Remix), Green Court feat. Division - Shining (DJ Tiesto remix), Flight 643, Subspace Interference.

DJ Tiesto also shows outstanding production skills: Magikal Remake of such things as Aria One - Willow, Allure - We Ran At Dawn, and, especially, the magnificent track Yahel - Going Up.

At a time when many DJs try to follow the blinding trend of playing only tracks that are popular among the masses, DJ Tiesto tries to choose songs that are sure to be remembered for a long time.

In 2004, DJ Tiesto was invited to the opening of the Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, where he played a 90-minute set. This is the highest achievement for a DJ.

In August 2005, Tiesto played for thousands of fans in the United States, namely in Los Angeles and California. The performance was organized in a stadium that was completely filled with clubbers. For the second year in a row, Tiësto celebrated the New Year at the console, playing live first in Las Vegas, then in Nevada. Although some dates on the US tour were canceled due to weather conditions, his popularity was firmly cemented on the continent.

In the fall of 2005, the DJ was on a tour of Central and Eastern Europe, during which he was constantly at the head of a dance floor of ten to fifteen thousand people. Stops were made in Ukraine, Slovakia, Serbia, Macedonia, Romania, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Turkey, Croatia and Poland. Tiesto also performed at the UNITY festival in South Africa. There the show took place at the Gallagher Estate Arena (Midrand) in front of 18 thousand people.

However, the 2005 tour was immediately overshadowed by Tiesto's performance at the largest festival in Holland today, "Sensation White", where the number of dancers broke all records and amounted to 45 thousand people. But this event also faded into the background after a summer performance in Brazil, on the banks of Ipanema, in front of 250,000 people. It is the second largest worldwide concert in human history, after Robie Williams' concert.

Years of early creativity

He pushed the future turntable master onto the musical path in his teens Ben Lybrand. His on-air assortments of fragments from a variety of songs created unusual remixes. And Thijs wanted to try to do the same himself. The boy made his first musical recordings at the age of 12. Then I started playing records at parties. And then his name Thijs, with the light hand of his friends, sounded in the Italian manner - Tiesto.

And then his musical life as a disc jockey simply spiraled, absorbing all his free time. Warming up student parties, the young DJ became a resident of a nightclub at the age of 16 "The Spock". Tiesto continued to successfully make cocktails from Dutch pop music and a new direction - acid house, delighting the youth audience.

There wasn’t enough money to live on, and the guy worked first as a postman, then as a salesman in a music store. But it’s not for nothing that they say that nothing in life is accidental! His sociability expanded his circle of useful contacts and pushed the boundaries of DJ popularity in the Netherlands. Dough's music sounded on the dance floors of Germany, England, Norway and other countries. The musician received an unheard-of offer from his employer to record his own mixes. The collection was a huge success. The circulation of "Forbidden Paradise" sold out very quickly, giving a good start to the development of his career. it was 1995.

Own label and "Magik Muzik"

Plunging headlong into writing his own music, Tiesto only strengthened his image as a talented person. The house direction was in tune with his soul and mood. Mixes “Magik”, “In Search Of Sunrise”, “Nyana” and many others sounded all over the planet. The titles of the works, along with the name of the author, were replete with the lists of prestigious music chats on various continents.

At the end of 1997, Tiësto and Arnie Bink opened their own recording company, which made it more convenient to release their own albums, records and compilations. The label "Black Hole Recordings" became famous and by 2001 had grown to impressive size. It was then that Tiësto organized his personal division on the basis of “Black Hole” (that’s how the label sounds in translation), where he began releasing selected recordings under the name “Magik Muzik”. As you know, "Magik" is one of his most popular songs.

"Magik Muzik" also releases compositions by musicians and DJs, in whose work Tiesto sees great potential. Among the clients of this personal “project” were even world-famous musicians: Mojado, Umek and Mark Norman. And the fate of “Black Hole” is very successful - the independent label has become one of the largest in the world and releases many discs of wonderful dance music every year.

When Tiesto woke up famous

What musician doesn't dream of being famous? For Tiësto, this happened in the fall of 1998, after his performance at the grand Innercity festival in Amsterdam. In the Netherlands alone, the 100,000th edition of the disc of the same name sold out instantly! The same picture was observed in other countries. His name never left the lips of music lovers from all over the world. There were rave reviews posted online. So the club DJ, having appeared on a grandiose stage, immediately won hundreds of thousands of ardent hearts and gained new fans.

Tiësto opens the “long” set

This was followed by performances at the famous Love Parade, Mayday, Nature One and Gatecrasher festivals, as well as debuts in elite clubs in Ibiza. And here Tiesto realized that the audience only wanted to dance to his music from evening until morning! And he began to do long sets, for which there was no end to those interested. The longest set - over 13 hours - was recorded in Amsterdam.

Tiesto also held the first dance floor show in the world music community (with his debut “Tiesto in Concert”), which featured percussion along with live vocals. The venue for this show was Arnhem/Holland (2003). Tickets for this event sold out in a matter of watches, although over 25 thousand of them were printed. This show attracted the interest of hundreds of thousands of fans in different countries of the world. The music delighted fans not only with its content, but also with high quality, since the DJ uses only professional equipment.

Conquest of Olympus

Over the years, Tiesto has received many different awards and prizes, but the main award among them is the title of the First DJ on the planet. He was brought to this Olympus in 2002 by the rating of the British magazine DJ Mag. Tiesto was number one for three years in a row! Also, for three years in a row, starting from 2007, he was the best according to the International Dance Music Awards. Not a single DJ in the world has been awarded such long-term national recognition! In almost all unspecified years, Tiesto did not leave the TOP 3 of the world rankings.

Thanks to his unsurpassed popularity, Tiesto became a participant in the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games, which took place in Greece in 2004 and gathered 75 thousand spectators in the stands. Almost 4 million more sports fans watched this action on their television screens. Tiesto provided musical accompaniment for the Parade of Athletes for two hours. The composition consisted only of his own compositions and was amazing - to match the grandiose event. So here Tiesto conquered Olympus in the most literal sense of the word.

Not a day without creativity and creation

2007 was an incredibly eventful year for Tiesto: a party on the city beach of Rio de Janeiro, which was attended by almost 200 thousand people; tour of Latin America, release of the new album “Elements of Life” (which became a Dutch Golden Disc on the first day of sales); the beginning of an almost two-year worldwide tour with the presentation of a new mix of the “In Search Of Sunrise” series - accompanied by famous musicians and vocalists .

In 2009, the collection of albums was supplemented by “Kaleidoscope”, in the creation of which Jónsi Birgisson, Emily Hines, Nelly Furtado and Kele Okereke participated. The album contains music of different styles.

In 2012, DJ Tiesto accompanied the British debut of the Skoda Citigo. At the same time, Tiesto began collaborating with Guess, whose specialists developed a long-term project. The company's stores, opened around the world, have already presented a collection of watches in the style of Tiesto by Guess and fashionable collections of men's and women's clubwear, created according to the sketches of the DJ in his own company CLVB LIFE.

Tiesto is considered one of the highest paid DJs in the world, he is also included in the honorary list of the greatest people who made Holland famous. But these circumstances did not reduce his creative potential. The showman successfully tours, does charity work and continues to write wonderful music.
