Pictures of leaves using mosaic technique. Crafts from leaves: new photo ideas, tips, instructions

An autumn girl was walking, teasing with her outfit,
Warming in the velvet light.
And with that girl, having met the gaze,
We suddenly forget about summer...

Svetlana Efimova 2

D Good afternoon, my dear friends!

Today, I share with you my new experience in needlework. It will be a picture of autumn leaves, I wanted to call it: girl - autumn. Actually, I didn't plan to do this job. But at work, there was an annual competition of crafts made from autumn materials. The manager asked me to make some kind of craft from natural materials. As a boss, would you refuse a request? And I wasn’t going to refuse this request, it’s handicraft! And I really like handicrafts. This is what I ended up with.

Painting of autumn leaves: girl – autumn.

For work I took:

  • Fibreboard – 50 x 40 cm;
  • Natural materials - ears of wheat, a bunch of autumn leaves, twigs, acorns, rowan berries, flowers, grass, millet;
  • PVA glue;
  • Acrylic matte varnish;
  • Acrylic paints - gold, bronze and white;
  • Watercolor paint – yellow.

As a basis for the picture, I took a piece of fiberboard measuring 40 x 50 cm. For the front side of the picture, I chose the back side of the fiberboard, i.e. not smooth))) There was a scratch right in the middle, but it doesn’t matter, I’ll decorate it.

I decided to decorate the picture frame using the terra technique. For this, I needed a mixture into which I would press ears of wheat and millet. Usually putty is used for this, and I was sure that I had it. But during the whole break, I didn’t find it, it turned out that it was over, but I didn’t want to go to the store... But I had dry glue for tiles and I decided to experiment. Let the glue be the basis of the mixture. I needed to get a medium-thick mass into which wheat and millet could be pressed. In this case, the mixture should eventually harden and stick firmly to the frame. And I did this, mixed: tile glue (6 parts) + flour (3 parts) + PVA glue. I actually used PVA instead of water. That is, as soon as the mass became the consistency I needed, I stopped adding it.

Frame mix

First, I generously coated the canvas with PVA glue along the entire perimeter, in the place of the future frame. After letting the PVA dry a little, I began to apply the experimental mass, in a layer of about 1 cm, in advance.

Applied the base for the frame

And she immediately began to press ears of wheat into this mass, and then sprinkled it generously with millet. She pressed everything in so that the wheat and millet were pressed in, but at the same time were clearly visible.

Pressed wheat and millet

Pressed wheat and millet

Then, she put the picture on its edge and shook off the excess millet.

After about 30 minutes, I mixed PVA glue and acrylic varnish in equal proportions and covered the wheat and millet with this composition. When you apply this composition, it is white, but after drying it becomes transparent.

Covered with a mixture of PVA glue and acrylic varnish

When the mixture of glue and varnish had dried, I painted the frame liberally with gold paint. I painted with a wide brush. And after drying, I went over the ears of wheat with bronze paint.

Now, finally, the picture itself of autumn leaves. I want to say right away: I am not friendly with drawing, and especially with painting with paints! I painted it as I thought.))) I poured white acrylic paint into a separate container and diluted it lightly with water, so the paint would be applied more evenly. Then, I painted the surface of the fiberboard (without touching the frame). Thus, I prepared the canvas by lightly priming it. By the way, in the end, it looked like the painting was made on canvas. Once the white paint had dried, I began painting the background of the painting. I made all the strokes smooth, semicircular or something (I don’t know what artists call it). In the middle, closer to the top, I painted it with white paint again. Then she began to darken the background, bringing it closer to the edges. To do this, I gradually began to add gold to the container with white acrylic paint. The further to the edges, the more gold I added, making the tone darker.

Painted the fiberboard while making the background

After looking at the result, I wanted to add a yellow tone. I didn’t have yellow acrylic paint, so I took watercolor paints. Mixing white and yellow watercolor paints, I went right behind the edge of the white background. That's it, I put the painting aside until the paints were completely dry.

For this work, I collected a few different autumn leaves, thin birch branches, and grass. Also, twigs with rowan berries, acorns, flowers from narwhal flower beds (luckily they weren’t fined))). But my husband found the highlight for me. While helping to collect acorns, I found a sleeping dragonfly (it’s good that it was no longer alive).

I placed the leaves and flower petals between the pages of the books, so they stayed with me for about two days. I had them in my work, only slightly dried out.

But first, I drew a silhouette of a girl on paper (I found it on the internet) and applied it to the picture to determine the size.

I drew a silhouette of a girl

Then she cut off the skirt and painted the girl with gold paint. It could have been acrylic, but I had gold spray paint))). From the waist, I cut off a small pointed piece, these will be eyelashes.

Painted the “girl” with gold paint

Then, she glued the girl to the place that she had decided on in advance. I didn’t take pictures of my further steps, because... I'll tell you in words.

She formed a wreath for the girl from grass, leaves and twigs with rowan berries. Everything was glued using a mixture of PVA glue and acrylic varnish (in proportions 1/1). In the future I used this composition. Let me explain why I used exactly this composition. Before I started making the painting, I scoured the Internet in search of how to preserve the color of autumn leaves. And I found information that the color and elasticity of autumn leaves can be preserved, including with the help of this composition. Other options did not suit me (I won’t write about them).

I continue. The skirt was made from leaves. I glued it in rows, starting from the hem, going higher.

The bodice of the dress was made from flower petals.

Since, initially, there was a scratch on the fiberboard, I glued a twig with leaves in its place. And she glued the dragonfly, spreading its wings. I really liked this dragonfly.

I made a girl, glued a dragonfly and a twig

On both sides of the girl, I glued twigs and leaves, trying to imitate trees. I started gluing from the top level, then, going lower, I glued the next branches and leaves.

And in the lower left corner I glued panicles, small twigs of flowers and a few acorns.

And further! While examining the work, I discovered that there were unpainted areas on the frame. Therefore, I once again went over the frame with gold paint.

Glued grass and acorns

Then, I went over all the leaves, twigs and flowers again with a mixture of glue and varnish.

That's all. My painting of autumn leaves is ready. Of course, this is most likely not a painting, but a panel... But let it be a painting, I want it so bad)))

Friends, if you found my master class useful, share it with your friends!

In order for your craft to turn out beautiful and retain its original shape, you need to properly prepare the material. Flowers with leaves should be collected only in sunny and dry weather. Dry the blanks between book pages. Be sure to place a heavy press on top. Drying will take you approximately 2-3 weeks. The prepared material makes very beautiful paintings and crafts.

DIY leaf panel

Necessary materials:

Dried natural material
- thick cardboard
- tweezers
- scissors
- tassel
- blade
- glue

Stages of work:

The picture must be glued from top to bottom. First of all, make the sky and the river. To create a sky, the leaves must be placed at an angle. Leaves for the river are glued in a horizontal position. Now start creating the distant shores. Pastel shades (peony or rose petals, raspberry leaves) are very suitable. Take green blanks and make hills of the second bank out of them. The house is created as follows: first of all, glue the walls, and then the window with the roof. Place trees near each house. Use various dry blades of grass as a crown. Banana peels and birch bark can be used to make trunks. Lastly, make a hedge, small bushes, and sheaves. Place the finished picture in a frame and cover it with protective film or glass. Remember that the painting should not be placed in bright sunlight, otherwise it will quickly deteriorate.

What do you think? It will be a great addition to any room.

Panel of autumn leaves

You will need:

Leaves from various trees
- spray paint
- foil
- basis for the picture
- glue
- foil

How to do:

On the street, collect fallen leaves and clean them from dust and dirt. Using a napkin, wipe the workpieces to remove moisture. Prepare the basis for the picture, attach leaves and think about what the composition will be. Lubricate the surface of the base with glue. Drop a little glue onto the leaves. Glue them right side down so that the veins are on top, giving them a relief texture. Apply glue again and place foil on top. The piece of foil should be large enough to cover the entire base. Decorate the foil beautifully so that it fits tightly to the wood base. Prepare black spray paint and apply on top. Once it's dry, start creating tones.

Take a scraper and start scraping off the paint. Try not to damage the foil, but there is no need to worry about this, since everything can be corrected with a black marker. This painting will be an excellent decoration for any interior.

Do and.

Panel of dry leaves

Necessary materials:

Compass
- ruler
- sheet of cardboard
- a simple pencil
- leg-split
- tassel
- PVA glue

Stages of work:

Prepare the base for the wreath. Using a compass and ruler, find the middle on the cardboard, draw one circle with a diameter of 24 centimeters, and the second with a diameter of 12 centimeters. Cut out the wreath blank. Tie a piece of twine, fold it in half, and glue it to the base of the wreath from the front side. Dilute PVA with water and glue the sheets. Lubricate the cardboard with glue, stick on the leaves, put the work aside to dry. As soon as the glue dries, decorate the wreath with berries, cones and dry inflorescences.

Panel of leaves on the theme of autumn

You will need:

White impregnation for wood
- plywood with a thickness of 50 by 50 cm
- glue “Moment”
- rowan leaves
- dark brown wood stain

Work process:

First, apply a dark impregnation to the plywood and let it dry completely. Check the packaging for the drying time required. All recommendations must be followed. As soon as the first layer is completely dry, apply a light impregnation. Apply it very thinly so as not to cover the dark tone or cover the grain of the wood. Iron the rowan leaves and fold them between magazine or book pages. During ironing, the color of the workpiece will change slightly, so do not be alarmed.

On the board, draw the outlines of the future branch with a pencil. Each leaf will consist of 5-6 separate rowan leaves. Glue the blanks to the “Moment”. Move from one piece to another gradually until you have collected them all. Hang the panel on the wall.

It will turn out incredibly beautiful too.

Autumn leaf panel

Necessary materials:

Multi-colored leaves
- colored paper
- scissors
- quilling stick
- tassel
- PVA glue

Stages of work:

Cut out an oval from soft blue paper. This will be the basis of the craft. Glue leaves on top. They must first be dried or kept under “press” for several days. You can speed up the drying process. To do this, place the sheets between two book pages and iron them. Start gluing all the leaves from top to bottom to create a forest effect, dry the glue.

Glue the base with leaves to yellow paper or cardboard. You can also take light green color. Glue colorful birds on top or draw them with a black marker. Decorate the picture with flowers. Cut them out of double-sided paper. Cut 3 strips with a width of 1 cm, cut them into a “fringe”. Wrap the paper strips onto a stick and secure with glue. Once it’s dry, “open” the flowers and carefully straighten the petals.

To create a leaf, prepare green double-sided paper, make strips ½ cm wide. Wind them tightly onto a stick, release what you twist and you will get a curl. Use your fingers to squeeze the curl to form a leaf shape, secure with glue. Glue leaves and flowers.

Thank you for your attention, dear colleagues! Happy creativity to you and the children!

It’s very sad to watch how autumn comes after a sunny summer: the leaves on the trees turn yellow, it almost always rains, it becomes cold outside, you have to take warm things out of the closets.

Despite this, autumn can also become beautiful and full of colors during the onset of sunny days. Cheerful children run through city parks, play, and collect colorful bouquets from fallen leaves.

At home I start collecting various crafts for school and kindergarten, and sometimes just for myself. There are a huge number of exciting ideas, and our article will be about them.

Leaf crafts for kindergarten

The child loves to take part in creating various crafts. Show him what can be made from the colorful leaves that filled all the streets of your yard, and he will be incredibly happy to take part in it.

Creating crafts is not only fun; thanks to such activities, children can get wonderful, exciting lessons in getting to know the world around them, develop thinking and creativity. The presented options for working in kindergarten will help you with this.

What is needed for crafts from autumn leaves:

  • The leaves themselves, of different colors, sizes and types;
  • Stationery (Glue, pencil, scissors, paper, white and colored cardboard);
  • Threads;
  • Wish.

Possible options for crafts made from leaves

Applique of autumn leaves

It is considered the simplest type of crafts made from leaves. You and your child can easily make an applique in the form of animals or birds.

You can create a lot with dry leaves, PVA glue and paper. To make your work more vibrant, use leaves of different colors.

Crafts from leaves and cardboard

Making a craft from cardboard and leaves is not difficult. You just need to cut out the base from cardboard and glue dry leaves to it.

Herbarium

One of the most exciting and common types of crafts for children is an amateur herbarium. You can collect many types of natural material, which will help your child to study with interest the variety of plants growing in your area. Include as many plant species as possible to create a beautiful herbarium.

Garland of autumn leaves

Dry the leaves, then dip each of them in yellow paint to give the leaves a brighter color. Then we hang the leaves to dry in the form of an elegant garland.

You need to take maple leaves of different sizes and colors, then cover them with transparent varnish. After the leaves have dried well, you need to hang them on strings, decorate them with beads or beads and hang them. The resulting pendant will be an excellent decoration both outdoors and indoors.

Bouquet of flowers from autumn leaves

Flowers created from maple leaves look very impressive.

Vase of leaves

You can use any leaves you like. For one vase you can use several types of leaves, different in color and shape, or you can make them from the same ones.

Instructions on how to make crafts from leaves Applique First, you should prepare all the necessary materials and cover the table with oilcloth.

To create an overlay applique, you should draw the picture itself on cardboard, then put leaves on the drawing, there is no need to cut the leaves, they are used entirely. Anything that is not enough can be painted on with paints or made from other materials.

Silhouette applique is created from cut leaves. The leaves are cut to realize the intended design with their help.

The most difficult way is to create a modular application. It is made from leaves of the same size. Fish scales or bird feathers are made in this way.

To obtain a symmetrical application, it is necessary to select paired leaves that are identical in all respects.

Note!

Tape - with its help, many details are created in one drawing.

Herbarium

It is better to collect leaves for the herbarium in dry weather, since wet leaves require additional processing. Each part of the herbarium must be straightened with a cold iron; before this, all creases in the sheet must be carefully removed.

If there is constant dampness outside and there is no time to wait for dry weather, then they should be given the opportunity to dry on their own. After the leaves have dried, they are ironed with a warm iron, placing them between two sheets of paper. There is no need to press the leaves with an iron, just press a little so as not to flatten them.

The prepared elements are placed on a sheet of paper, which will serve as a background and at the same time a frame. Fix the leaves with threads or glue.

Bouquet of flowers/rose

In order to get neat and beautiful flowers, the leaves must be even and clean. Place the piece of paper directly in front of you and fold it in half. Then you need to twist half the leaf into a tube, but do not twist it very tightly, the flower should be voluminous.

The result is the core of the flower; we make the petals from the remaining leaves. The core is placed in the second maple leaf. Take turns folding the edges of the sheet to form petals. The sheet can be secured with thread so that it does not fall apart later.

Note!

To make the flower voluminous, you should twist at least six or seven maple leaves in this way, each of which is secured with a thread. To create a bouquet you need several of these flowers.

Vase

To make this craft you will need:

  • PVA glue;
  • Leaves of different colors;
  • An ordinary balloon.

You need to inflate the balloon to the desired size of the vase. Take glue diluted half and half with water. Lubricate one half of the ball with adhesive solution.

Each sheet must be properly glued and lubricated with another layer of solution on top so that the upper layers of the sheets adhere just as well. When you have glued the top layer, it should also be lubricated with glue.

After this, remove the ball for several days until it hardens completely. When our fake is completely dry, you will need to burst the balloon. A vase of leaves is suitable for use. Making such work is not difficult, but it is very interesting, so it is good to do it with children.

Flower toys

From beautiful plants, florists came up with the idea of creating not only bouquets, but also such charming toys. To give such an original gift, see how to make flower figurines yourself, and quickly begin a pleasant and exciting activity.

Start simple. For example, make this funny snail.

For needlework you need the following:
  • floral sponge piaflora - 3 bricks;
  • bush yellow and green chrysanthemums, 4-5 branches of each color;
  • large leaves of monstera, palm or others;
  • round dish or plate;
  • floral fixative or straws, sticks;
  • for the face: 2 buttons or beads, thread, paper, wire.

Before making such figurines from flowers, you need to decorate the plate. In this case, we spread the leaves on it.

Soak the piaflora bricks in water, letting them dry without using your hands. Then we cut out several parts from it. For the job, we cut off the 2 upper corners of the brick, from the second we cut out the rounded part for the back and the head of the toy from flowers.

From the third brick we create her neck. Using a floral fixative or a straw, we fastened the sticks together as shown in the photo.

Now you need to pick off or trim the flowers so that they remain with a short stem 2 cm long.

Starting from the bottom of the snail’s “house,” we line it with green chrysanthemums. We decorate the second part with yellow, from the top of the head.

Flowers should be placed as close to each other as possible so that the piaflora is not visible. If small gaps nevertheless form, we close them with smaller buds.

After the entire body of the flower figurine is decorated, we take 2 yellow chrysanthemums, trim its petioles so that the length remains 4 cm, and put these horns in their places.

To make the snail's face, poke one end of the wire through a hole in the button, remove it from the other, and poke the sponge in the appropriate places to attach the first and then the second eye in place. Cut out a mouth from red paper and glue it on.

Now you can give such a beautiful and original gift of fresh flowers.

You understand the principle of this floral idea, so now you can create other toys from flowers. You will need almost the same materials. If you have larger flowers, the figure will turn out fluffier.

It is important to cut out the details of his body from piaflor bricks so that they are proportional, and then fasten them together using pins. Wooden skewers, pencil. To do this, these elements need to be cut to a length of 5-8 cm. Stick one end into one part, and the other into the other. Thus, you will fasten the 2 parts of the animal’s body.

For such a flower toy, first cut out the following parts from water-soaked floral sponge bricks for the body, nose, and head. Two for legs, paws, ears.

To ensure that the bear rests securely on the base, cut out sponges to the shape of the dish. To do this, cut the piaflora brick into 2 narrow pieces, place them side by side, and place a dish on top. Press it on the lips to get an outline. Cut along it. Place the piaflor on the dishes, and attach the parts of the body and legs on top, and on this base - the rest of his body.

Start decorating the base by attaching small green chrysanthemums to the face. Then use 3 of these flowers instead of toes, and one large one at a time to decorate the foot and ears of the flower toy.

Decorate the remaining areas of the animal’s body with large chrysanthemums. Then you will get a fluffy bear. Tie a light bow around his neck, border the dish with leaves, and drape the piaflora on it with small flowers, for example, gypsophila. This is such a wonderful bear made from flowers.

Living three-dimensional paintings

If you want to create long-lasting beauty that will delight you for many years, then make a picture from unpretentious house plants.

To create this little child you will need:

  • succulents;
  • a wooden box with a plywood bottom or 4 blocks and a sheet of fiberboard;
  • picture frame;
  • plastic mesh;
  • the soil;
  • scissors;
  • shoulder blade;
  • wand;
  • dye;
  • silicone gun;
  • hammer;
  • nails;
  • brush.

Many adult houseplants produce “babies”. It is often a pity to throw them away, so use these small and unpretentious indoor plants to create an original picture.

Look at the condition they are in; if there are dry leaves, remove them.

If you do not have a box that is the right size for the frame, then saw off 4 pieces of wood and knock them down into a rectangle shape.

Cut a piece of construction mesh to the same dimensions and attach it to the furniture bars.

Glue the picture frame to the same side of the bars using a silicone gun. Now turn the work over so that the frame is at the bottom. Nail a sheet of plywood to the bars. To prevent it from getting wet, it is better to first glue the mesh to it, and only then attach it to the base.

Paint the picture frame with varnish and let it dry.

Now pour soil into the tray through the mesh and water it well.

Then plant succulents to create a living picture.

Leave your creation horizontally for 2 weeks to allow the plants to take root. You can then place the painting vertically or hang it on the wall.

You can create not only living pictures, but also beautiful compositions from dried flowers. Before you begin such work, find out how they need to be prepared.

How to make dried flowers

They can be bought or prepared from spring to autumn, collected in the forest or at the dacha. Donated bouquets should also not be thrown away when they begin to fade, because they make excellent material for creative handicrafts.

Flowers for compositions should be collected on a dry day in the late morning, when the dew has dried. Use fresh, beautiful, undamaged plants.

When choosing a color scheme, pay attention to the fact that when dried, red flowers become darker, while light ones turn yellow. But the blue, pink, lilac, and orange colors of plants are perfectly preserved when properly dried.

The easiest way is to air dry flowers, but always in a dark place. Under the rays of the sun they will simply lose their beautiful color. Large plants are laid out on paper in one layer. Do the same with individual elements if, for example, you only need buds, leaves or flowers.

Medium-sized plants are tied into small bunches, turned upside down with flowers, and hung several at a time on a rope or stick. The dark room should be warm, dry and have air flow.

If you need to get dried flowers quickly, then you can use a microwave oven. The main thing here is to bring the plants to the desired condition without drying them out. Therefore, turn on the oven on low power for a few seconds. Turn it off, see what condition they are in, if necessary, dry them further, also by turning on the microwave oven for a few seconds, setting it to low power.

If you want the plant to retain its natural color for a long time, dry it in sand for 3-4 weeks. Unlike air-dried flowers, these flowers will be less brittle.

You can also use silica gel, which quickly absorbs moisture. Using this method, only the inflorescences are dried.

Dried flower arrangements

After you have been able to buy dried flowers or have made this material for needlework yourself, it’s time to start amazing creativity.

Bouquets of dried flowers are in perfect harmony with stones. Therefore, this material was used in this work. Here is a complete list of what is needed:

  • dried flowers: amaranth and yellow craspedia;
  • oblong (rectangular or oval) dish;
  • scissors;
  • large and small pebbles.
Trim the bare stems and place the flowers on the container on which they will be placed. See if they look good and if the stems need to be trimmed further.

Place dried flowers on a dish, press them down with large pebbles, and sprinkle small ones on top.

Trim 3 branches of craspedia a little, place it at the top of the composition. For another 3-4, cut the cuttings larger. Stick these plants into the pebbles.

The work is finished, now you can admire to your heart’s content what a wonderful composition of flowers and stones you have created.

Dried plant painting

You can also create such an interesting composition with your own hands. Even in winter it will remind you of a colorful summer. For needlework prepare:
  • A4 paper;
  • cardboard;
  • masking tape;
  • pistachio shells;
  • PVA glue;
  • toilet paper;
  • hot glue gun;
  • acrylic paints.
Cover the cardboard with white paper and attach tape around the perimeter, along the edges, so that they are even.

You can tint the background a little this way: crumble the leads of colored pencils with a knife, and then rub the resulting colored powder onto the sheet with a cotton pad.

Here's how to make a picture frame, take...toilet paper. Unwind a strip from it, coat it with PVA, and twist it into a rope. Then place the cardboard along the edges, and when the glue dries, paint the resulting frame.

Here's how to make pistachio flowers. Cut out a circle from not very thick cardboard. Using a glue gun, glue the nut shells to it so that each one touches the center and edge of the circle.

Now take dried flowers, place them in one corner of the picture, decorate it with elements of pistachios and greenery. The painting is ready from scrap materials.

How to make earrings, pendants

Dried flowers in combination with epoxy resin provide very interesting ideas. As a result, these are the amazing designer jewelry you will get.

For such work you will need accuracy, patience, and also:

  • dried flowers (here used: speedwell, heather, forget-me-nots);
  • epoxy resin;
  • files;
  • pencil;
  • paper;
  • scissors;
  • syringe;
  • earring earrings;
  • fine sandpaper.
Mix the resin according to the instructions and leave for 2-3 hours so that the mass becomes more viscous.

At this time, place small dried flowers on a sheet of paper, outline them, giving them a teardrop shape.

Cut out the resulting stencils.

Next, you need to find a perfectly flat surface; check this indicator with a building level. Place the cut out stencils on it and the files on top.

After the resin has infused, pour it from a syringe onto the workpieces in a layer 2-3 mm thick. If the outline is blurred, correct it with a toothpick. Let the epoxy resin dry a little for 20-30 minutes, then straighten the edging again using a toothpick.

To prevent dust particles from sticking to the workpieces, cover them immediately after pouring. In this case, it is better to isolate each separately.

Leave the blanks to dry for a day, then separate them from the files and sand their edges with a nail file or fine sandpaper. Attach dried flowers to the transparent elements. Prepare a new portion of resin in advance, after it has stood for 0.5-1 hours, pour a small layer of dried flowers over the blanks.

Again, give them a day to dry under cover. Turn the blanks over and fill them with epoxy resin (a small layer). After it is completely dry, turn the products over and fill the front surface.

After a day, make a hole in their upper part with a thin drill and thread it into each hook. Here's how to make your own earrings. If you want to make a pendant, thread a chain ring through the hole.

Here's how dried and fresh flowers will help you look beautiful, make unforgettable gifts and decorate your home.
