Is it possible to pray prayers of thanksgiving for Holy Communion? Thanksgiving prayer after communion

The communion itself takes place as follows: those receiving communion or communicants approach the Holy Chalice, this should be done with deep humility, accept the Holy Mysteries and immediately swallow them. Next, the deacon, using a special cloth, wipes the lips of the communicant. Then the communicant needs to kiss the Holy Chalice and make a bow before. After which you need to go to a special table where there are prosphora and cups of water (warmth), eat the prosphora and wash it down with warmth. At the same time, you need to wash your mouth so that not a single particle of the body of Christ remains in it. Participants should know that only after receiving the warmth will they be able to approach and venerate the icons. At the end of the service, those who received communion come to the cross, where they listen to prayers of thanksgiving after communion, and only after that can they go home.

In what cases are prayers of thanksgiving for Holy Communion read at home?

If, for some reason, prayers of thanksgiving for Holy Communion were not read in church, you need to do this yourself when you return home; you can find them in any prayer book. On the day of communion, you need to maintain the purity of your soul, cleansed of sins, for as long as possible. If possible, it is better to devote this day to studying the word of God. You should refrain from everything unspiritual and idle: avoid empty conversations, watch less TV, do not join in, refrain from smoking. It is necessary to observe moderation in food. Archpriest Andrei Tkachev advises that on the day of communion, after listening to the prayers of thanksgiving for Holy Communion in church, read them again at home. It is advisable to do this several times, because they are filled with meaning; reading them many times, or at least repeating them once on the day of communion, increases the feeling of gratitude to God in the soul. Communion is medicine for the soul and body, it is unity with God.

Prayer 3, Saint Simeon Metaphrastus

Having given me Your flesh for food voluntarily, You are the fire that burns the unworthy! Cleanse my soul, sanctify my thoughts, strengthen my knees and bones, enlighten the five main feelings, nail me all with fear of You. Always protect, protect and protect me from every deed and word harmful to the soul. Cleanse, wash and arrange me; decorate, admonish and enlighten me. Mother of the merciful God, loving mercy, have mercy on me and give me to me tenderness and contrition in my heart, and humility in my thoughts, and calling to good thoughts when my mind is captivated. And grant me, until my last breath, to accept, without condemnation, the shrine of the most pure Sacraments for the healing of soul and body. And give me tears of repentance and thanksgiving, so that I may sing and glorify You all the days of my life, for You are blessed and glorified forever. Amen.

Now do You let Your servant go, O Lord, according to Your word, in peace, for my eyes have seen Your salvation, which You have prepared in the face of all nations: a light for revelation to the Gentiles and the glory of Your people Israel.

Glory, And now.

Lord have mercy. ( Three times)

Glory, And now.

Our Father.

And now: The protection of Christians is reliable, the intercession to the Creator is unchangeable! Do not despise the prayerful voices of sinners, but come quickly, as the Good One, to the aid of us who call upon You with faith: “Hasten with your intercession and hasten your prayer, Mother of God, always protecting those who honor You!”

Lord have mercy. ( 12 times)

With the highest honor of the Cherubim and incomparably more glorious than the Seraphim, who virginally gave birth to God the Word, the true Mother of God - We magnify You.

Bless in the name of the Lord, father.

Christ, our true God, through the prayers of His Most Pure Mother, our reverend and God-bearing fathers and all the saints, will have mercy and save us, as the Good One and the Lover of Mankind.

We are: Amen.

To Saint Gregory the Dvoeslov, Troparion, tone 4

Glory:

Kontakion, tone 3

You, Father Gregory, appeared as an imitator of the Chief of the Shepherds of Christ, guiding hosts of monks into the heavenly courtyard, and therefore you taught the sheep of Christ His commandments. Now you rejoice with them and rejoice in the heavenly abodes.

And now: Protection of Christians is reliable: – see above .

The Sacrament of Communion or Eucharist is one of the most important Christian Sacraments, on a par with Baptism or Confirmation, which every Orthodox Christian must perform. Usually Communion is celebrated after each service on Sunday, but only those who went to confession on Saturday can take communion. Before and after the breaking of bread, prayers of thanksgiving are read.

Prayers of Thanksgiving for Communion

Jesus Christ left his disciples right before his death the commandment to celebrate Communion in memory of the Teacher. He said that the bread and wine eaten at this moment are the Flesh of Christ and the Blood.

Icon of the Communion of the Apostles

There are serious discrepancies in the literal understanding of this statement. But every Christian denomination considers the breaking of bread a prerequisite.

As soon as the service ends and the Eucharist ends, the clergyman reads a prayer of gratitude to God for all parishioners.

Advice! You don’t have to wait until the end of the service and immediately leave after the Eucharist, but in this case, upon returning home, you should independently read these holy texts from the prayer book. It is only important to be in a calm mood and read them with gratitude.

Rules for reading prayers

Prayers of thanks include 5 separate texts:

  • Thanksgiving - it is pronounced as a sign of gratitude to God for accepting Christians as a grafted branch to His people, despite their sinfulness. A petition for physical and spiritual healing, as well as for protection from all enemies is also read here. An important point is also the request to strengthen the Christian’s faith.

I thank You, Lord my God, that You did not reject me, a sinner, but deigned me to partake of Your Holy Things. I thank You that You have honored me, unworthy, to partake of Your most pure and heavenly Gifts.

But, Lord Lover of Mankind, who died for us, and rose again, and gave us these terrible and life-giving Sacraments of Yours for the benefit and sanctification of our souls and bodies, make them be for me, for the healing of soul and body, for the reflection of every enemy, for enlightenment the eyes of my heart, into the peace of my spiritual strength, into firm faith, into unfeigned love, into the fulfillment of wisdom, into the observance of Thy commandments, into the increase of Thy divine grace and the acquisition of Thy Kingdom.

So that, preserved by them in Your sanctification, I always remember Your mercy and live no longer for myself, but for You, our Lord and Benefactor. And thus, having left this life in the hope of eternal life, I reached a place of eternal peace, where the unceasing voice of those celebrating and the endless pleasure of those looking at the indescribable beauty of Your face.

For You are the true goal of aspiration and the inexplicable joy of those who love You, Christ our God, and all creation sings to You forever. Amen.

The text in the name of Basil the Great - it also contains thanks to the Lord for the fact that He endows a believer with faith and gives him the opportunity to come and perform the Sacraments with a pure soul, which is purified by the Spirit of God. All the gifts given by the Lord to man are also sung.

Lord Christ God, King of the ages and Creator of the whole world! I thank You for all the blessings that You have given me, and for the communion of Your most pure and life-giving Mysteries. I pray to You, Good and Humane, keep me under Your protection and in the shadow of Your wings and grant me with a clear conscience, until my last breath, to worthily partake of Your holy things for the forgiveness of sins and eternal life.

For You are the Bread of Life, the Source of sanctification, the Giver of blessings, and to You we send up glory with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and always, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Prayer service of Simeon Metaphrastus - in his prayer he compares the Lord with fire, which can both cleanse and burn a sinner. Therefore, the text contains a petition for cleansing from sin and thanksgiving for this mercy;

Having given me Your flesh for food voluntarily, You are the fire that burns the unworthy! Do not burn me, my Creator; rather, go through the parts of my body, into all the joints, into the insides, into the heart, and burn up the thorns of all my sins. Cleanse my soul, sanctify my thoughts, strengthen my knees and bones, enlighten the five main feelings, nail me all with fear of You.

Always protect, protect and protect me from every deed and word harmful to the soul. Cleanse, wash and arrange me, adorn, admonish and enlighten me. Show me to be Your abode, the one Spirit, and no longer the abode of sin, so that after receiving Communion every evildoer, every passion will flee from me, as from Your house, as from fire. As intercessors for myself, I present to You all the saints, the Commanders of the disembodied armies, Your Forerunner, the wise Apostles, and above them, Your immaculate, pure Mother.

Accept their prayers, my merciful Christ, and make your servant a son of light. For You, the only Good One, are the sanctification and radiance of our souls, and to You, as befits God and Master, we all send up glory every day.

Communion is a sacrament for the soul of a believer

Petition to Christ - this canon is spoken to Jesus, and in it a person thanks the Son of God for His Blood, which was shed on the cross for man;

May Your Holy Body, Lord Jesus Christ our God, be for me for eternal life, and Your precious Blood for the forgiveness of sins. May this thanksgiving bring me joy, health and joy. At Thy terrible and second coming, grant me, a sinner, to stand to the right of Thy glory, through the intercessions of Thy all-pure Mother and all Thy saints. Amen.

A petition to the Mother of God is a kind of canon of purity and righteousness, which is read for the intercession of the Virgin Mary on behalf of a person before the Creator.

Most Holy Lady Theotokos, light of my darkened soul, hope, protection, refuge, consolation, my joy! I thank You that You have vouchsafed me, unworthy, to become a partaker of the most pure Body and precious Blood of Your Son.

But, O One who gave birth to the true Light, enlighten the spiritual eyes of my heart. Source of immortality, O One who gave birth, revive me, deadened by sin. And grant me, until my last breath, to accept, without condemnation, the shrine of the most pure Sacraments for the healing of soul and body. And give me tears of repentance and thanksgiving, so that I may sing and glorify You all the days of my life, for You are blessed and glorified forever. Amen. Your servant.

For You, the only Good One, are the sanctification, as well as the radiance of our souls, and to You, as befits God and Master, we all send up glory every day.

Attention! After reading these prayers, troparia and kontakia are read, but they should be read to the saint in whose name all the services were performed.

Prayers of Thanksgiving for Holy Communion

In the life of every Orthodox person there are events that go far beyond everyday joys and sorrows. These are the days when the sacrament of Holy Communion is performed over him. They lie on a completely different plane of life. They bring joy, but this joy is of a special kind, not commensurate with the joy that earthly life gives us. These are the days of our unity with God.

What is the meaning of Holy Communion for us?

The great sacrament of the communion of the body and blood of the Lord makes our human nature akin to God. His body and blood become part of us, organically part of our soul and body. Just as a person inherits from his biological parents, of which he became a part by virtue of blood kinship, certain inherent qualities, so by taking into ourselves the body and blood of the Lord, we become heirs of his qualities.

The Lord in his earthly life, making an atoning sacrifice, died and then rose again in a completely different flesh. This flesh was endowed with properties inaccessible to an ordinary person. But Holy Communion makes us - the creations of his hands - heirs of both this flesh and this immortality. In addition, Jesus Christ, having become incarnate from the Virgin Mary, accepted everything except sinfulness. The Lord is sinless.

Reading the prayers included in the Follow-up to Holy Communion, we ask God to deliver us from the slavery of sin that has weighed on us since the fall of the first people - Adam and Eve. And our prayers are justified. After all, by becoming partakers of the Divine body and blood, we must get rid of sinful captivity. For the great joy of spiritual renewal and the acquisition of immortality, we thank the Lord God, offering him prayers of thanks after Holy Communion.

Where and how are these prayers read?

Communion of the Holy Mysteries of the body and blood of Christ is performed in the church during the liturgy. At the end, a prayer of thanks after Communion is read on behalf of all who were honored with the holy sacrament on this day. Usually it is read by a psalmist. But sometimes parishioners, returning home from church, open the prayer book and read it themselves.

He wrote many theological works that have come down to us. The prayer of thanksgiving after Communion, written by St. Basil the Great, is full of deep and sincere feeling. He begins it with words of gratitude for all the blessings God has given him. The saint asks the Lord to always protect him with grace and divine power. In conclusion, he prays that the Lord will grant him the privilege of keeping his conscience unsullied and always approaching the holy sacraments with the consciousness of his spiritual purity.

Prayer three

Its author is the holy Venerable Simeon Metaphrastus, who lived in Greece at the turn of the 9th-10th centuries. He entered the world as an outstanding theologian and historian. He created an extensive collection of the lives of saints, edited and annotated. The prayer of thanksgiving he wrote after Communion is read third. Starting it, he likens the Lord to burning all the unworthy. The monk prays, saving his life, to burn the sinful thorns nesting in him, and to make him the abode of the Holy Spirit. The monk entrusts himself to God's providence and trusts in his protection.

Very short, fourth prayer

This small prayer is filled with very deep meaning. It contains an appeal to God with a request for the gift of eternal life - the main and desired goal of every Christian. Then the words of the prayer appeal to the Lord for the sending of mercy at the Last Judgment, which will follow the second coming.

The Most Holy Theotokos enjoys special love and veneration among all Christians. There is a very special attitude towards her. With her purity and holiness she surpasses the hosts of angels. Even cherubim and seraphim cannot compare with her. Therefore, the prayer addressed to her begins with words full of sincere love. “Light of a darkened soul, cover, refuge, consolation and joy” - these are the epithets with which the gratitude offered to her begins for the fact that she has made us worthy to partake of the blood and body of her Son.

In prayer, we, recognizing ourselves as dead by sin, ask the Most Pure One to revive us. For her, who gave birth to the source of immortality, nothing is impossible. We ask you to direct our thoughts to good deeds and fill our hearts with Divine love. And like all previous prayers, the prayer of thanks to the Mother of God ends with a request to grant us the opportunity to receive the shrine of the most pure mysteries for the rest of our lives.

A fragment of the Gospel text and subsequent troparia

At the end of the prayer to the Most Holy Theotokos, a short biblical text is read, including the words of the holy Venerable Simeon the God-Receiver, spoken by him when, through the Holy Spirit, he saw the incarnate God in the baby Jesus brought to the temple. His “Now you let go...” ends after communion, the description of which is given above.

But our thanksgiving does not end there. Next, troparia and kontakia are read, and which ones depend on which saint’s liturgy was performed. This could be the Liturgy of St. Basil the Great, or it could be - In addition, if the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts was served, then the troparion to St. Gregory the Dvoeslov and the corresponding kontakion are read. A prayer of gratitude to the guardian angel is not included in this list of prayers, but it is quite clear that we cannot help but thank the guardian of our soul and body, not give him credit for everything we owe him, including the grace of Holy Communion. There are many prayers to our guardian angel. You can read any of them. The main thing is that it comes from a pure heart. In preparation for Holy Communion, everyone reads a large number of prayers prescribed by the church charter. Among them there is a canon to the guardian angel. It is very good to re-read it even after performing the holy sacrament.

Our day after Holy Communion

But prayers of thanksgiving for Communion do not complete the circle of our responsibilities associated with this most important sacrament. The Holy Church strongly recommends devoting this day to studying the word of God, thinking about God and caring about maintaining spiritual purity. It is better on this day to get rid of everything idle and devoid of spirituality. It is recommended to abstain from all kinds of entertainment. Even those that are not condemned by the church on ordinary days may be inappropriate on the day of Communion. Marital intimacy and smoking are also prohibited. The lips that have received the body and blood of the Lord must not be defiled by anything. Therefore, the use of swear words is completely unacceptable.

The Lord has given us a powerful and reliable means of communicating with him - Orthodox prayers. Grateful, petitionary and repentant - they elevate our souls and hearts. Regardless of whether we are talking about church prayer read in church, or about home prayer in a cell, they become grace-filled only under the condition of our deepest faith and the sincerity with which we pronounce them. And every time we approach them, we must remember that at this moment we are performing the great sacrament of communication with God.

Prayer of gratitude to the guardian angel
Prayer of thanksgiving, St. John of Kronstadt, read after healing from illness
Prayers of Thanksgiving for Holy Communion
Thanksgiving for every good deed of God

It is advisable to read prayers of thanksgiving every day. Thank the Lord for every day you live, for the blessings sent down to you, for the great gift of health, for the happiness of your children. For everything you have at the moment, even if, from your point of view, it is not that much.

Saint Gregory the Theologian wrote: “The Lord thirsts to be thirsty, and fills those who want to drink; He accepts it as a good deed if they ask Him for a good deed. He is accessible and generously gives great gifts, giving with greater joy than others accept on their own. Just by not revealing a low soul, asking for what is unimportant and unworthy of the Giver.”

Great doxology:
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. We praise Thee, we bless Thee, we praise Thee, we praise Thee, we thank Thee, great for the sake of Thy glory. Lord the King of heaven, God the Father Almighty. Lord, Only Begotten Son Jesus Christ, and Holy Soul. Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, take away the sins of the world, accept our prayer. Sit at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us. For you are the only Holy One, You are the only Lord Jesus Christ, to the glory of God the Father. Amen.
I will bless You every day, and I will praise Your name forever and ever.
Grant, Lord, that on this day we may be preserved without sin. Blessed are you, Lord, God of our fathers, and praised and glorified is your name forever. Amen.
May Thy mercy be upon us, O Lord, as we trust in Thee.
Blessed art thou, Lord, teach me by thy justification (this is repeated three times).
Lord, you have been our refuge throughout all generations. Az said: Lord, have mercy on me, heal my soul for those who have sinned against You. Lord, I have come to You, teach me to do Your will, for You are my God, for You are the source of life, in Your light we will see the sowing. Show Your mercy to those who lead You.

Song of the Lord Jesus Christ:
The only begotten Son and the Word of God, immortal, and willing for our salvation to be incarnate from the Holy Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary, immutably made man, crucified Christ God, trampling death by death, the only one of the Holy Trinity, glorified to the Father and the Holy Spirit, save us.
In Your Kingdom, remember us, O Lord, when You come to Your Kingdom.
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for for them is the Kingdom of Heaven.
Blessed are those who cry, for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who are hungry and thirsty for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.
Blessed ones are merciful, for they will receive mercy.
Blessed are those who are pure in heart, for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for these shall be called sons of God.
Blessed is the expulsion of truth for the sake of them, for those are the Kingdom of Heaven.
Blessed are you when they revile you, and destroy you, and say all sorts of evil things against you for lying to Me.
Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is abundant in heaven.

Psalm 22

The Lord shepherds me and will deprive me of nothing. In a green place, there they settled me, on the calm water they raised me. Convert my soul, guide me on the paths of righteousness, for Your name’s sake. Even if I walk in the midst of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me: Your rod and Your club will comfort me. Thou hast prepared a table before me to resist those who are cold against me: Thou hast anointed my head with oil, and Thy cup makes me drunken, like a mighty one. And Thy mercy will marry me all the days of my life, and let us dwell in the house of the Lord for the length of days.

A short version of a prayer of gratitude to the guardian angel.

Having glorified the Lord, I pay tribute to you, my guardian angel. Glorious be you in the Lord! Amen.

Grant me from now on, Master, the strength to firmly do Your will for the salvation of my damned soul and for Your glory with Your Originless Father and Your Consubstantial Spirit, now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Prayers of thanksgiving for Holy Communion.

Glory to You, God. Glory to You, God. Glory to You, God.

Prayer of thanksgiving, 1st

I thank you, Lord, my God, for you have not rejected me as a sinner, but have made me worthy to be a partaker of your holy things. I thank You, for You have vouchsafed me, who is unworthy, to partake of Your Most Pure and Heavenly Gifts. But the Lord, the Lover of Mankind, for our sake, died and rose again, and granted us this terrible and life-giving Sacrament for the benefit and sanctification of our souls and bodies, grant this to me for the healing of soul and body, for the driving away of all that is resistant, for the enlightenment of the eyes of my heart , into the peace of my spiritual strength, into unashamed faith, into unfeigned love, into the fulfillment of wisdom, into the observance of Thy commandments, into the application of Thy Divine grace and the appropriation of Thy Kingdom; Yes, we preserve them in Your shrine, I always remember Your grace, and I live not for myself, but for You, our Master and Benefactor; and thus having gone from this life to the hope of the eternal life, I will achieve everlasting peace, where those who celebrate the unceasing voice and endless sweetness, who behold the ineffable kindness of Your face. For You are the true desire and the inexpressible joy of those who love You, Christ our God, and all creation sings to You forever. Amen.

Prayer 2, St. Basil the Great

Master Christ God, King of the ages, and Creator of all, I thank Thee for all the good things He has given me, and for the communion of Thy most pure and life-giving Mysteries. I pray to Thee, O Kinder and Lover of Mankind: keep me under Thy roof, and in the shadow of Thy wing; and grant me with a clear conscience, even until my last breath, to worthily partake of Your holy things, for the remission of sins and eternal life. For You are the living bread, the source of holiness, the Giver of good things, and we send up glory to You, with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.

Prayer 3, Simeon Metaphrastus

Having given me flesh by Your will, fire and scorch the unworthy, do not scorch me, my Creator; rather, go into my mouth, into all my parts, into my womb, into my heart. The thorns of all my sins fell. Cleanse your soul, sanctify your thoughts. Confirm the compositions with the bones together. Enlighten the simple five of feelings. Fill me with Thy fear. Cover me always, keep me, and save me from every deed and word of the soul. Cleanse and wash and adorn me; Fertilize, enlighten, and enlighten me. Show me Your village of the one Spirit, and not to anyone the village of sin. Yes, like Your house, the entrance of communion, like fire, every evildoer, every passion flees from me. I offer prayer books to You, all the saints, the orders of the disembodied, Your Forerunner, the wise Apostles, and to this Your undefiled, pure Mother, graciously accept their prayers, my Christ, and make Your servant a son of light. For You are the sanctification and the only one of ours, the Good One, of souls and lordship; and like unto You, like God and the Master, we send all glory every day.

Prayer 4

May Thy Holy Body, Lord Jesus Christ, our God, be unto me for eternal life, and Thy Honest Blood for the remission of sins: may this thanksgiving be unto me joy, health and gladness; at Thy terrible and second coming, vouchsafe me, a sinner, to the right hand of Thy glory, through the prayers of Thy Most Pure Mother and all the saints.

Prayer 5, to the Most Holy Theotokos

Most Holy Lady Theotokos, light of my darkened soul, hope, protection, refuge, consolation, joy, I thank Thee, for Thou hast vouchsafed me, unworthy, to be a partaker of the Most Pure Body and Honest Blood of Thy Son. But She who gave birth to the true Light, enlighten my intelligent eyes of the heart; You who gave birth to the Source of immortality, revive me, killed by sin; O most merciful Mother of God, have mercy on me, and give me tenderness and contrition in my heart, and humility in my thoughts, and appeal in the captivity of my thoughts; and grant me, until my last breath, to receive consecration of the most pure Mysteries without condemnation, for the healing of soul and body. And give me tears of repentance and confession, to sing and praise Thee all the days of my life, for Thou art blessed and glorified forever. Amen.
Now do You let Your servant go, O Master, according to Your word, in peace: for my eyes have seen Your salvation, which You have prepared before the face of all people, a light for the revelation of tongues and the glory of Your people Israel.
Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us (three times).

Most Holy Trinity, have mercy on us; Lord, cleanse our sins; Master, forgive our iniquities; Holy One, visit and heal our infirmities, for Thy name's sake.
Lord, have mercy (three times).
Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.
Our Father, who art in heaven! Hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, as it is in heaven and on earth. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, just as we forgive our debtors; and do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

Troparion of St. John Chrysostom, tone 8

With your lips, like the lordship of fire, grace shining forth, enlighten the universe: do not gain the love of money and the treasures of the world, showing us the height of humility, but chastising with your words, Father John Chrysostom, pray to the Word of Christ God to save our souls.

Kontakion, tone 6

Glory: You have received Divine grace from heaven, and through your lips you have taught us all to worship the one God in the Trinity. All-blessed John Chrysostom, Reverend, we worthily praise you: you are a mentor, as if you are manifesting the Divine.

If the Liturgy of St. Basil the Great was celebrated, read

Troparion to Basil the Great, tone 1:

Thy message went out into the whole earth, as if it had received your word, which thou hast divinely taught, thou hast clarified the nature of beings, thou hast adorned human customs, the royal priesthood, reverend father, pray to Christ God that our souls may be saved.

Kontakion, tone 4

Glory: You have appeared as an unshakable foundation for the church, giving to all inconspicuous dominion by man, sealing with your commands, the unappearing Reverend Basil.
And now: The intercession of Christians is not shameful, the intercession to the Creator is immutable, do not despise the voices of sinful prayers, but advance, as the Good One, to the aid of us who faithfully call Thee: hasten to prayer, and strive to supplicate, ever interceding, the Mother of God, who honor Thee.

If the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts was celebrated, read the troparion to Saint Gregory the Dvoeslov, Basil

To the Great, voice 4:

Whom have we received from God above divine grace, O glorious Gregory, and whom we strengthen with strength, who thou hast deigned to walk in the gospel, from whom thou hast most blessedly received from Christ the recompense of labor: pray unto him that he may save our souls.

Kontakion, tone 3

Glory: You appeared to the Chief to be the shepherd of Christ, the monks of the succession, Father Gregory, instructing the heavenly fence, and from there you taught the flock of Christ with His commandment: now you rejoice with them, and rejoice in the heavenly roofs.
Lord, have mercy (12 times). Slava: And now:
We magnify Thee, the most honorable Cherub and the most glorious without comparison, the Seraphim, who gave birth to God the Word without corruption, the real Mother of God.

Thanksgiving for every good deed of God.

Troparion, tone 4

Give thanks to Thy unworthy servants, O Lord, for Thy great good deeds upon us; we glorify Thee, bless, thank Thee, sing and magnify Thy compassion, and slavishly cry out to Thee in love: O our Benefactor, glory to Thee.

Kontakion, tone 3

As a servant of indecency, having been honored with Your blessings and gifts, Master, we earnestly flow to You, giving thanks according to our strength, and glorifying You as the Benefactor and Creator, we cry out: Glory to You, All-Bountiful God.

Glory even now: Theotokos

Theotokos, Christian Helper, Your servants, having acquired Your intercession, cry out to You in gratitude: Rejoice, Most Pure Virgin Mother of God, and always deliver us from all our troubles with Your prayers, One who will soon intercede.

Song of praise, St. Ambrose, bishop Mediolansky

We praise God to you, we confess the Lord to you, the whole earth magnifies your eternal Father. To You all the angels, to You the heavens and all the powers, to You the unceasing voices of the cherubim and seraphim cry: Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of Hosts, the heavens and earth are full of the majesty of Your glory. To you is the glorious apostolic countenance, to you the prophetic number of praise, to you the bright martyr’s army praises, to you throughout the entire universe the Holy Church confesses, the Father of the incomprehensible majesty, the worshiped
Your true and only begotten Son and Holy Comforter Spirit. You are the King of glory, Christ, You are the ever-present Son of the Father: You, having received man for the deliverance, did not disdain the Virgin’s womb. Having overcome the sting of death, you have opened the Kingdom of Heaven to believers. You sit at the right hand of God in the glory of the Father, come and believe in the Judges. We therefore ask you: help your servants, whom you have redeemed with your honest blood. Make it worthy to reign with Your saints in Your eternal glory. Save Thy people, O Lord, and bless Thy inheritance, I will correct and exalt them forever: we will bless Thee all the days, and we will praise Thy name forever and ever. Grant, Lord, that on this day we may be preserved without sin. Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us: may Thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, as we trust in Thee: in Thee, O Lord, do we trust, that we may not be ashamed forever. Amen.
