Fortunately for most users, only a few encounter the problem I want to describe today. We are talking about the so-called black screen, when when you boot the computer the image remains black and you cannot do anything.

The most important thing in this case is not to panic, as some people do, because this problem can be fixed in 99% of cases and it is not at all as difficult as you might think. Follow my simple tips and hopefully everything will work out for you.

First solution

I'll start with the simplest and most logical solution - restarting the computer. Yes, oddly enough, but it is this extremely simple operation that often helps correct most errors.

If it doesn’t help, then try after booting the system by pressing ALT+CTRL+DELETE or CTRL+SHIFT+ESC. Thus you can. In it, go to “File” - “New task” - explorer.exe. If after this the desktop starts, it means there is a software problem that you need to try to solve. For now, you will have to use your PC only this way.

Reinstalling video adapter drivers

I will say right away that reinstalling drivers for a video card is only possible if the operating system itself boots and, in addition to the black screen, you have the opportunity to use it.

Theoretically, there may be a problem with the drivers (they are outdated and simply do not function fully), so go to the official website of the manufacturer of your video card and download the latest drivers for the device, then run the file and follow the instructions.

You can also update drivers. To do this, go to the task manager (Computer - Properties - Device Manager), find your video adapter, hover over it, right-click and select Update Drivers. Then follow the instructions on the system.

Editing the registry

The next possible option is problems with the registry, as a result of which some files will need to be corrected. This is not as difficult to do as it seems.

So, we boot up the computer and see a black screen. Launch the task manager again and enter explorer.exe in the “New task” item. Thus, the desktop appeared before your eyes. Wonderful.

Now you need to launch the Registry Editor. To do this, click on the “Start” button and in the “Search programs and files” column, enter the word regedit.

Then press Enter and the editor will launch. You must follow the following path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon. Here you will see the names of the parameters. Find among them the option called Shell. Its value should be: explorer.exe.

We use the AVZ utility

And now I will tell you about one of the simplest and at the same time effective methods that will certainly help you cope with the difficulty.

There is such a utility called AVZ. It cannot be said that it fights viruses very well, but it copes well with various SpyWare, AdWare, BackDoor, Dialer and other Trojans. It also has a lot of different additional properties that you may need at any moment.

You need to download AVZ from the official website and run it.

Select File - System Restore.

Then check the box next to “Recover Explorer startup key”, and then click on the “Perform selected operations” button. That's it, nothing more is required from you.

Restoring the system to an earlier date

In order to restore the system, it is recommended to enter safe mode. This is done simply: when loading the operating system, you need to press the F8 key (in other cases, other options may be used, as I already wrote about in one of them). If you have one operating system installed, the download will begin immediately, but if there are several, you will be given a choice to launch the desired axis.

You will have a choice of additional options, like I have on. Select "Safe Mode" and press Enter.

When the operating system boots, go to Start, select System Restore and click Next. Then select the one on the creation date of which your system was functioning normally and click “Finish.”

Scan the system for viruses
