EXPLANATORY NOTE
The educational program "Circus Art" has a physical education and sports orientation with elements of an artistic orientation.
The program is based on teaching experience working with students for 6 years.
Circus art is one of the oldest components of world culture and sport. It was formed from public square performances and theatrical sports competitions. The program included: acrobatic and juggling performances, animal training, illusion rides. The performances of professional circus performers were known in Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, Byzantium and other countries. From the second half of the 18th century, the first dynasties of Russian circus performers began to form. The first stationary circus in Russia was opened on December 11, 1827 in St. Petersburg.
Circus art is unusual and eccentric. The precision and virtuosity with which circus performers perform the most complex tricks has always attracted spectators. Interest in the circus continues to this day.
The NOVELTY lies in the fact that in the field of additional education, programs for teaching circus arts for school-age children have not previously been published, this was the impetus for the development of this program.
The RELEVANCE of the program lies in the demand for training in circus arts in a physical education and sports orientation.

If you want a holiday, go to the circus. A similar entertainment establishment can be found in any major modern city. The performers delight the audience with complex acrobatic performances, magic tricks, animal performances and other amazing tricks. Many people believe that only people born into families of circus dynasties can get into the circus arena. In fact, this is a big misconception. In order to become a circus artist, you need to graduate from a circus school in Moscow. Today, this is the only specialized educational institution in our entire country.

Is circus art a calling?

To spectators, the circus seems like a continuous holiday and magic. In fact, each performance is the result of hard training, nerves and pain. The work of circus performers involves great danger. Even experienced professionals in their field sometimes suffer serious injuries in the midst of their careers.

At its core, any genre of circus art is a symbiosis of complex sports and acting. How successful an artist will be depends largely on his self-control, artistry, and ability to communicate with the public. Many representatives of circus dynasties claim that one should come to work in this field only out of vocation. If your lifelong dream is a circus, it makes sense to think about how to get into a circus school in Moscow.

You can enroll in this educational institution after completing the ninth or eleventh grade of any secondary school. Applicants must understand that due to the specific nature of the profession, entrance tests consist of more than just general education exams. You must have at least basic choreographic or sports training. There is a circus section at the school today, admission to which will be introduced from the age of 5. There are similar institutions of additional education in many other cities of Russia.

Applicants involved in acrobatics, ballet, artistic and some other sports have a good chance of becoming circus performers. All these disciplines are quite complex, and it is believed that you can achieve success in them if you start teaching your child no later than 7 years old. Parents who dream of a circus career for their child should understand that intensive training can negatively affect academic performance in the general education school curriculum.

The history of the only circus school in Russia

In the fall of 1927, the People's Commissariat of Education of the USSR issued a resolution, according to which it was ordered to organize an institution for the professional training of circus performers in the capital of the state. The training was carried out in the format of courses lasting three years. Gradually the educational institution developed, and after some time it was reorganized into a technical school. Along with the new name, the circus school in Moscow received a building with a full-fledged arena. Quite quickly the educational institution earned itself a good reputation. The school changed its name several times. In 1987, the educational institution was once again renamed. The assigned name has survived to this day - State School of Circus and Variety Arts named after. M. N. Rumyantseva. Today the educational institution is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Culture.

Modern everyday life of a circus school

Since 1961, the circus school in Moscow has been training pop artists, speech and original genres. Today, this educational institution remains the only one of its kind in our country. Only here you can get a professional circus education. Every year a large number of applicants from all over the country dream of becoming GUTSEI students. The school is also famous for its teaching staff. The young generation is taught circus and variety disciplines by famous artists, as well as simply talented graduates of colleges and other cultural educational institutions.

Specialties and curriculum

GUTSEI trains circus performers of various genres. The most popular areas: acrobatics, balancing act, clowning, juggling, variety shows. Also at the school you can obtain the specialty of an assistant, assistant animal trainer, entertainer, costume designer or make-up artist. Applicants are recommended to choose the most interesting specialty for themselves before passing the entrance examination. The admissions committee usually evaluates the data of each person wishing to enroll in accordance with the requirements and specifics of the chosen profession.

During the course of training, students acquire highly specialized knowledge and skills related to their specialized specialty. All students admitted to the circus school in Moscow will have to study the world and Russian heritage of the circus. The scientific activities of the educational institution include research and classification of new programs. In addition, students of all specialties study circus pedagogy, basic safety and circus genres.

How to enter GUTSEI?

If you dream of being in the circus arena, it makes sense to visit a circus school in Moscow before submitting your documents. Address of the educational institution: Moscow, 5th street Yamskoye Pole, building 24. Responsible applicants who apply to the school in advance are interviewed. Even 2-3 months before the entrance tests, you can take preparatory courses at an educational institution, the cost of which will be only 1,500 rubles.

The circus school in Moscow has quite strict requirements for applicants. Training circus performers involves serious and dangerous physical activity. For this reason, even upon admission, each applicant must prove that he has no health problems. When submitting an application for admission to the educational application, medical certificates are attached to it. The required minimum: extracts from the psychoneurological and (that the owner of the document is not registered). A certificate from the supervising physician is also required.

Entrance tests

Enrollment is based on the results of entrance tests conducted in three rounds. The first exam includes an assessment of the competitor’s personal and physiological data, as well as his abilities within the chosen profession. The second stage is passing a medical commission. The third exam is the most difficult, during which applicants demonstrate their existing skills in choreography, acrobatics, and show their artistry. Particular attention is paid to the student’s ability to improvise and imagination.

Every applicant must understand that he did not come to an ordinary casting for a modeling agency, but to a circus school in Moscow. Photos in interesting images and the ability to recite a memorized piece of text will not help here. A real artist must interact with the audience without fear or anxiety, and also be able to instantly find a way out of any unexpected situations on stage.

After the exam in their specialty, applicants will be tested in general education subjects. Graduates of 9th grade write a dictation and take an oral exam in Russian language and literature. After 11th grade, the student will need to write an essay.

Famous graduates of GUTSEI

Dozens of artists who became famous throughout the world once graduated from a circus school in Moscow. The history of this educational institution with its famous names sounds impressive: M. Rumyantsev, O. Popov, L. Engibarov are all graduates of GUTSEI. Such talented artists as E. Kamburova, Zh. Bichevskaya, G. Khazanov and E. Shifrin also graduated from the circus school. According to the most conservative estimates, over the years of operation the educational institution has trained at least five thousand specialists in all areas of circus and variety arts.

In essence, acrobatics is the art of controlling your body. The only material at hand is our muscles and training brain, sending precise and complex signals for execution. Acrobatics can be done almost anywhere. And of course, everywhere with great benefits for the harmonious physical development of children and adolescents, to strengthen their health. To practice acrobatics, you must have good flexibility and mobility in your joints. At the age of 10-13, most schoolchildren have satisfactory flexibility, but it still needs to be developed. Then by the age of 15-16 it will reach its maximum value. But all schoolchildren have satisfactory flexibility and some need a lot of work to improve it. Flexibility can be improved through stretching exercises.

Through circus art, systematic training in a circus studio, the skills of collective creative activity, a responsible attitude to the results of one’s work and the work of the team, and the development of a culture of behavior, discipline and composure are developed.

In extracurricular activities, the circus studio occupies an important place. The presented program is developmental in nature - educational and is aimed at the formation of an aesthetically, physically developed personality, at awakening creative active children. Based on my work experience, rural school children are close to physical activity, so I chose circus art, studying exercises, circus sketches and performances in grades 4-6.

Typically, children of this age are a friendly, close-knit team; there is every opportunity to carry out serious educational work with them. At this age, they take on a conscious and meaningful character, show the ability to control themselves, restrain themselves, help each other, and go to classes with pleasure. Classes are conducted in a more complicated version and at a faster pace.

By awakening children to further master the circus arts, this training course provides an opportunity to express themselves as individuals and reveal their inner world.

The purpose of the circus studio is“MICHEER” for this additional educational program is the development of attention, emotional memory, creative imagination, responsibility, willpower, control of one’s body.
