Night of museums Tretyakov on Krymsky Val. Night of Museums at the Tretyakov Gallery

Also in the main building, visitors will be able to see the temporary exhibition “The Artist’s Model in the Camera Lens.” This special project presents photographs of the second half of the 19th – early 20th centuries, which depict the muses of Russian artists, models of paintings from the collection of the Tretyakov Gallery. The viewer is presented with original photographs of people who posed for Ilya Repin, Ivan Kramskoy, Mikhail Nesterov, Valentin Serov, Konstantin Korovin, Viktor Borisov-Musatov. The chosen time frame, with rare exceptions, corresponds to the era of Symbolism and Art Nouveau, when high art, fashion and lifestyle were closer than ever.

The New Tretyakov Gallery will host a special program “It has become possible to love” and will be dedicated to the “Thaw” exhibition. As part of the Farce Major Concert musical program, you will be able to listen to the main songs of the era, performed by actors from the Theater of Nations. Thematic master classes will be held for children and parents in the Museum’s Creative Workshop. In the courtyard of the museum, an international food court will open, dedicated to the VI World Student Youth Festival of 1957, and there will be an interactive photo zone, where all visitors will be invited to take photographs in the interiors of that time. By the evening, a dance floor will open, where you can master dances such as foxtrot, jive and lipsey to live music, accompanied by professional dancers.

Small museums of the Tretyakov Gallery also take part in the action and present the project “Discovering the Personal”.

The 1960s are landmark years in the museum life of our country: the Soviet Union joined the International Council of Museums (1957), the first museum-reserves appeared (1958), the Moscow Kremlin museums opened to the public (1961), documents on the museum fund were published, in professional Wednesday, conversations begin about a unified catalog of museum objects, the history of museum affairs in Russia (1957–1971) is being written, and guides are being trained in institutes.

New trends are emerging in the global cultural community - the theory of “museum communication” (Canada, 1968) set the vector of interaction with visitors and contributed to the arrival of designers, sociologists and psychologists in museums. Museums are trying to speak to their visitors in a new way, and personal intonations are beginning to be heard in this conversation. It was in the 1950-1960s that some of the creative and residential spaces ceased to be just workshops, houses and apartments, and by the will of artists and their heirs they became museums. Some later became small museums of the Tretyakov Gallery.

How does the personal become the property of everyone, how does this happen, what do those who, at a certain moment and of their own free will, allow many to touch the sacred feel? How do the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of artists preserve collections today and what museums do they dream of? The descendants, heirs, and contemporaries of the creation of the museums of Victor and Apollinary Vasnetsov and Anna Golubkina will talk about this.

The project “Discovering the Personal” will involve Olga Alekseevna Vasnetsova, honorary chairman of the Vasnetsov Foundation, great-grandniece of artists, Nadezhda Nikolaevna Dudareva, former employee of the USSR Ministry of Culture, friend of the family of Vsevolod Apollinaryevich Vasnetsov, Nadezhda Prikhodko - artist, friend of Ekaterina Konstantinovna Vasnetsova.

Evgeniy Vuchetich (grandson of the sculptor E.V. Vuchetich), Irina Kondratova (granddaughter of the painter D.A. Nalbandyan), and heirs of other masters will tell about the fate of the collections.

You will also meet collectors – friends and neighbors of museums.

Meetings and conversations will take place in the House-Museum of Viktor Vasnetsov (Vasnetsova Lane, 13), in the museum-apartment of Apollinary Vasnetsov (Furmanny Lane, building 6, apt. 21), in the museum-workshop of Anna Golubkina (Bolshoy Levshinsky Lane, building 12 ).

For one day, the Hermitage Garden will become the site of the educational festival “Open Lectures”, which will take place from 15:00 to 21:00. Here you can find out the latest news from the life of space and the universe, meet visionary artists, talk about urban anthropology and even look at Kazimir Malevich’s “Black Square” with new eyes.

Among the festival participants are the curator of the Polytech festival Olga Vad, director, artist and curator Vera Martynova, photographer Igor Mukhin, art historian Andrei Sarabyanov, director of Russia’s first Design Museum Alexander Sankov, art critic Sergei Khachaturov and others.

Admission to lectures is free,
