In the first year of the group’s existence, the team won the Russian festival Cafe Del Mar Lounge. However, in January 2016, Kapustin left the project and moved to America. In Los Angeles, he began creating a solo album, which was planned to be released under the name “Isaac Nightingale”. This is the artist's creative pseudonym.

The singer’s first single, entitled “It’s not over,” was released in June 2016. The song premiered at a concert in the fashionable metropolitan club “16 tons”. The musician also posted a video for this song on a YouTube account created under the pseudonym Isaac Nightingal.

In the first minute, all the mentors turned to the talented Barnaul resident. , and Polina Gagarina were ready to take Vadim to their teams, but he chose Agutin. Kapustin managed to gallantly refuse Gagarina’s mentorship, saying that he would not be able to think about music on her team.

At the “Knockouts” stage, the musician chose the song “Wonderful Country” by the group “Bravo” and also passed this stage brilliantly. As a result, the musician reached the quarterfinals, where he performed the song “Easy”, but lost to Ksenia Korobkova.

At the same time, Kapustin received more votes from mentors than Korobkova, but much more viewers voted for the girl. As a result, the gap between the contestants was about ten percent. However, Ksenia made it to the semi-finals, but Vadim did not.

Participation in a music competition did not prevent Kapustin from working on a solo project. The musician presented new singles one after another, bringing the release of his solo album closer.

The musician, originally from Barnaul, continues to successfully conquer the international stage. A resident of the legendary club Cafe Del Mar, a former member of the Triangle Sun project, the winner of music awards this year moved to Los Angeles and began a new stage of his creative career under the stage name Isaac Nightingale. Not long ago, Vadim recorded his first single in the legendary Hollywood studio Rusk - this is where Frank Sinatra, Elton John, Tina Turner, the Rolling Stones, and Doors recorded. Now preparing for the release of an EP. Woman`s Day talked with Vadim Kapustin about childhood, music, life in Los Angeles and, of course, about his hometown.

“At school I copied Michael Jackson”

I was born in Moscow, although the city of Barnaul is indicated in my passport. The fact is that my beloved grandmother, aunt, uncles and brothers live here. I have extremely bright, positive memories of my childhood. I was raised by my mother, grandmother, aunt and grandfather. I also remember that we always had a lot of guests - they were very interesting people, professors. My grandmother was a famous pediatrician; a book was even written about her and a documentary film was made. Since childhood, I have felt endless warm love and care. The atmosphere at home was always comfortable, good and calm, except for those moments when I bawled songs from the balcony and the neighbors applauded me.

Then I listened to a lot of records by American bluesmen, which I often borrowed to listen to from Yura from the second floor, the son of a TASS correspondent. Then these records were sent from hand to hand, falling into the hands of my singing teacher, returning in excellent condition in a plastic bag without a single scratch or defect, having done a great job in the minds of all my friends and school buddies.

During breaks, we shared our impressions of listening to BBKing, Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley. This is how music, in fact, entered my life. We gathered in a small square with a fountain opposite the Rossiya cinema, someone shaved their temples, pierced their ears, grew long hair, and my friend Valery Karmanov, the son of a judge in the Central District of our city, and I brought with us a Sharp cassette recorder and a huge smooth plywood: we were breakdancing. For which even the gopniks respected us and shook our hands firmly when they met.

At first I danced, copied Michael Jackson's movements, and then I began to sing like him. And unnoticed by myself, from a good dancer (who was never bothered by anything), I smoothly transformed into a singer. Barnaul has always had a favorable environment, with a lot of creative people. To this day I keep in touch with many musicians from our city. There is a wonderful Barnaul school that has trained many talented and brilliant musicians. I always remember with warm feelings the time when I studied there. It was a lot of fun. And looking back, I often remember the words of one of my good friends: “Musicians are a separate caste of people.”

"I make music for beautiful, curious, cosmopolitan people"

At first my listeners were my friends. They assured me that a great future awaited me and that I needed to study music professionally. I had no musical education then. And I am so grateful to my friends for influencing my decision to enter a music school in the class of “Academic Choir Conductor.”

The most vivid musical impression from childhood was the constant subscription concerts at the Philharmonic, where I constantly went to classical music concerts. I think it was then that music began to degenerate into a real passion in me. I became literally obsessed with her.

For me, quality music is a whole complex of components. Music must necessarily convey something: an image, a mood. Good music can radically change the atmosphere and well-being. Personally, I divide music into good and bad, into music that I like and don’t like. High-quality music is music that is harmonious in itself; it may not be made by a professional, but it is self-sufficient, sincere, and therefore definitely finds a response.

The music that I make is for people who are prepared, have good taste, discriminating, I would say, aesthetes, who appreciate beautiful melodies, relevant and modern sound, mainly young people who love to dance, love a full interesting life, read a lot, are very knowledgeable , strives to be at the forefront. These are certainly inquisitive people who love a beautiful life, beautiful clothes, beautiful films. These are cosmopolitan people: they know languages, travel a lot, have friends all over the world. This includes creative people: film people, artists...

"There are a lot of strange people in Hollywood"

I always dreamed that “summer would not end, that it would rush after me”! Here in Los Angeles, that's exactly what happens. Secondly, palm trees and the ocean! The creative atmosphere is the center of cinema and show business. This is exactly the same “caste”. And there are also a lot of Mexican restaurants, and in general a lot of authentic cuisine, and I really love food!

They definitely won’t call you strange here; almost everything is allowed, within reasonable limits, of course. Why is this not an ideal atmosphere for creativity? There are a lot of strange people in Los Angeles, especially in Hollywood. In a good way. Someone goes and recites some poem, someone talks to themselves. There are also a lot of homeless people. This upset me a little. But the people are very positive, polite, I would even say friendly.

“Plans include a new album and Miami”

My plans for the future are closely related to creativity. This is an important part of my life. Immediate plans: record a new album, engage in full concert activities. I'm happy when I have something to say and give to my audience. Make new and more interesting music. Maybe move to Miami. I like the climate there better than in Los Angeles. And there is also white sand. But I also want to spend a lot of time in Moscow, because I love this city very much and will probably never be able to say goodbye to it forever.

The EP is planned for closer to the new year. It will consist of several songs, three of which will already be familiar to listeners, plus two completely new ones, and there will also be a couple of excellent fashionable dance remixes in the arsenal.
