Watch the morning star program. Elena Pinjoyan

Yuri Nikolaev’s program existed for more than 10 years and during this time it lit up many Russian pop stars. Let's remember the brightest debuts.

Pelagia

Vadim Tarakanov / Legion-Media

One of the brightest participants in “Morning Star” was the then very young singer Pelageya. The leader of the Kalinov Most group, Dmitry Revyakin, donated a tape of a talented girl singing to the competition. “Her voice, of course, amazed me, but what struck me even more was the meaningfulness of her singing,” he noted.

As a result, 11-year-old Pelageya made it to the finals and won. But this might not have happened. Only recently in the documentary “Pelageya. Happiness loves silence.” Yuri Nikolaev admitted that he barely managed to stop the dishonest voting at that time: “When I open the envelope with the winner’s name at home, I read a different surname, not Pelageya. I say: “Why not her?” It turned out that one colleague - a respected member of the jury - asked everyone to choose another girl, since it was her student. I asked all the jury members to write their opinions separately again so that everything would be extremely honest and then the majority would vote for Pelageya.”

“Even the fact that I was in the top three finalists was a miracle for me; my mother and I couldn’t believe it! – admitted in the program “Honest Word”. – Nadya Mikhalkova opens the envelope and says after a pause: “Pppelageya.” I remember it as if it were yesterday... And I also remember this envelope with fabulous money for us - 1000 dollars. We lived on this money for a long time.”

Valeria

The television competition became fateful for the singer Valeria. In 1992, the 21-year-old artist performed in the most adult category. “I was very nervous,” the singer recalls. According to her, in principle she never liked participating in competitions, but she overcame herself. And for good reason! Her performance impressed the jury and she was chosen as the winner.

Yulia Nachalova

“In the early 90s, Yuri Nikolaev did a global job,” says Nachalova. – It was all absolutely alive, real, a huge promotion. They knew the participating children and cared about them. The same “Factory” is not a live performance, and everyone sees it perfectly well. And often it was not talented children from the outback that ended up there, but the children of the director of some Donetsk Coal. And they are not even embarrassed to say it. Irina Ponarovskaya really didn’t like people like that. When the girls sang past the notes at the competition, she wrote down “get married” on a piece of paper. And by the end of the auditions there was a whole column of such “married women.”

Julia met Irina Ponarovskaya backstage at the Morning Star, and subsequently the famous singer was the young artist’s mentor for a long time.

Group "Lyceum"

The debut of the Lyceum group also took place on the stage of the Morning Star. This was back in 1991. Anastasia Makarevich, Elena Perova and Isolda Ishkhanishvili performed the ABBA song “One of Us”.

“We were 15 years old. There was no feeling that we would become some kind of popular group. Only a few years later the song “Autumn” appeared... – recalls the ex-soloist of the group “Lyceum” Lena Perova. “And Yuri Alexandrovich is our ray of sunshine!”

Angelica Varum

“It was 1990 and my first performance on stage as a solo singer. I can't remember anything except terrible excitement. And there was also this habit of holding the microphone with both hands so as not to faint... This was my debut and thanks to this the songs sold out and became popular,” the singer said in the “Tonight” program. – When my grandmother found out that I was participating in some kind of competition, she became worried and said: “Why do you need this?” But when I said that the presenter and author of this project is Yuri Nikolaev, she calmed down and gave her blessing.”

The very next year, the first album “Good Bye, my boy” was released, many of the songs from which became real hits.

Ani Lorak

The singer, when she was 17 years old, performed under her real name and surname - Carolina Kuek. Like many, she dreamed of going on stage at the Morning Star, and in 1995 her dream came true.

“She came and sang. I listened: “Great, what’s your name?” She replied: "Carolina." I say: “Stop, we already have one Carolina. I can’t take two Carolines in one round,” said Yuri Nikolaev. “She walked away and after a while returned and said that she had figured out what to do, and read the name Caroline backwards, it turned out “Ani Lorak” - and they left it that way.”

The singer performed a touching song in Ukrainian and won. “Then I was given a certificate for the purchase of shoes, and I bought shoes made of genuine leather - it was an event!” – the artist recalls.

Sergey Lazarev

From early childhood, Sergei Lazarev also watched this competition, dreaming of getting there. When he was about 10 years old, he came to a bakery near his house and accidentally struck up a conversation with the saleswoman. She, casually, told him that her daughter was the same age as him.

“He shows the photo, I see that the girl is on the stage of the Morning Star. I say: “How did my daughter get there?” It turned out that she was studying in the group “Fidgets,” the singer recalls. “I went there, passed the audition and was accepted. At first I just handed flowers to the participants of the Morning Star, but after some time, when I was already 14 years old, I finally went on stage as a participant.”

Vlad Topalov

Vlad Topalov appeared on the stage of the Morning Star before any of the heroes in our selection. He was only five years old. The boy's parents sent him to the musical group "Fidgets", in which he performed for quite a long time.

“I was a member of the Morning Star program as a child. I completed it to the finals, from the very first day. I was 5 years old. I can absolutely clearly, firmly and confidently say that this is an honest, fair competition for the live performance of songs by young artists. There is no politics here, there are no agreements of any kind. I have been friends with since childhood, who, in fact, raised us all there. And I have never met a more honest and just person in my life,” the artist noted in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda.

By the way, the first joint performance of Vlad Topalov and Sergei Lazarev with the song “Belle” from the musical “Notre Dame de Paris” took place at the “Morning Star” in 2001. There was no group Smash!! then, they sang simply like graduates of the group “Fidgets”.

Zara

Many are sure that singer Zara first appeared on the big stage in the “Star Factory 6” project. However, it is not. She, like other heroes of our selection, began her creative career with “Morning Star”. In 1997, the 12-year-old singer took part in a television competition with the song “Juliet’s Heart.” Zarya managed to make it to the finals, but the victory ultimately went to another participant.

“How scared I was! – the artist admits. – Firstly, I have never been to Moscow before. Secondly, children from “Fidget” took part in the competition. But despite everything, I reached the final. And when I looked back at the shooting later, I saw that while singing the songs, I was looking at the floor the whole time. And it seemed to me that no one noticed this! That’s when I realized that something needs to be done about this. Studying at the Theater Academy certainly helped me. Now I feel free on stage.”

“You have no idea how you changed my life! – Chaliapin said to Yuri Nikolaev in the “In Our Time” program. – I was 15 years old then. And I, a simple provincial, suddenly found myself on the Morning Star program - it was a real fairy tale! And not only because I sang there and made it to the finals. After that, I began to go with my friends to all the “Morning Star” concerts, I was inspired, and from that time on I had a million photographs with famous artists. And Yuri Alexandrovich treated us children kindly and didn’t kick anyone out, thanks to him for that!”

Today, in order to shine or announce your talents to the world, it’s enough to start Instagram or collect views on Youtube. Well, 25 years ago, celebrities were opened or, more precisely, lit by the “Morning Star”!

Let's remember those whose names today we might not even know if not for this popular TV show?

Yes, yes, in 1995, a young talent named Carolina Kuek was already preparing for her performance, when the presenter Yuri Nikolaev urgently demanded to change the name, due to the fact that only Carolina was already announced on the list of speakers. Then the future star simply wrote her name backwards and “torn up” the room. What he continues to do today...

How did you not know this? But back in 1992, Valeria literally managed to “jump into the last carriage” to win the competition. And all because 22 years was the maximum age for the participants...

Despite the fact that her father-producer prepared the girl for the stage from the age of 2, it was the stage of “Morning Star” that became that first launching pad, which gave her long-awaited success and victory at the age of 10!

All fans of Seryozha Lazarev know that he became popular while being one of the “Fidgets”, but you can’t hide his leadership qualities... In 1997, Sergey performed solo on the “Morning Star”, unconditionally winning, and at the same time stealing the hearts of millions of girls on that side of the screen. It looks like nothing has changed since then...

Well, another “Fidget” felt cramped in the team. Yes, Vlad Topalov decided to follow the success of his friend Sergei Lazarev, with whom he performed the song “Belle” from the musical “Notre Dame de Paris” on the stage of the Morning Star. Oh, to the point of hysteria on an all-Russian scale over the duet “Smash!” only a few days left...

Well, it was only in 1999 that the whole world began to sing along with the shocking girls “I’m crazy”, and before that Yulia and Lena sang and won as part of the same restless “Fidgets” in the most long-awaited Sunday music show...

Did you know that in 1996, Pelageya, who had just turned 10 years old, won the Morning Star competition and $1000?

In 1997, with the song “Juliet’s Heart,” Zara only managed to become a finalist in the “Morning Star” competition, but you must agree, this stage is a worthy breakthrough for the first performance!

Well, here’s another discovery for you - at the age of 11, Alexey Chumakov began writing his own songs, with the first of which he won the “Morning Star”!

Are you also humming now - “Don’t offend, don’t offend the groom, the little girl”? It seems that “Morning Star” could calmly rest on its laurels just because of this discovery alone!

Yes, yes, and for Evgenia Otradnaya, the stage of “Morning Star” was the first real feeling of success and victory!

It turns out that not only today the name of Prokhor Chaliapin is mentioned in connection with another scandal or sensation in the world of domestic show business. 20 years ago, Andrei Zakharenkov also loved to play pranks... And then third place with his own song “Unreal Dream” on the stage of “Morning Star” seemed not enough for him - he decided that the rumor that he was a descendant of the famous opera singer Fyodor Chaliapin would strengthen him success is more reliable...

Admit it, have you completely forgotten this name? But Elena might not have had second place at “Star Factory-2” if a few years earlier she had not been brought to the “Morning Star” competition by the chairman of the jury of the television project. By the way, she won then...

In 1995, “Autumn” sounded in a new way in the vastness of our country - with the poetry and music of the song of the same name, which became the calling card of the Lyceum group. But four years earlier these girls were just “warming up” on the “Morning Star” stage!

Come on, strain your memory! You couldn’t forget that in 1990, Anzhelika Varum made her debut on the stage of the Morning Star with the song “Midnight Cowboy”! And yes, we are shocked too...

Competition rules

Two performers took part in the competition. Participants were divided into 4 genres: vocal genre (age from 3 to 15 years), dance genre (age from 15 to 22 years), vocal genre (age from 15 to 22 years) and dance genre (age from 3 to 15 years). The participants' performances were evaluated by a jury of four people. The assessment was carried out using a 5-point system, then the presenters from these assessments calculated the amount of points received by the competition participants. The participant who received the highest amount advanced to the next round, the participant who received the fewest points was eliminated from the competition. If the participants scored the same amount of points, then the presenter asked the contestants to alternately sing a verse from a song or dance a fragment from a dance. Then he asked the jury members to recalculate the participants’ scores. If after recalculation the total points are the same, then both participants advanced to the next round. Also in 1991-1992, the program included a competition for TV presenters among girls. In this competition, presenter Yuri Nikolaev chose participants not for the role of his co-hosts, but for applicants who would be able to work on television. First, a video clip of the participant was shown on the screens installed in the hall, and then the participant went on stage, accompanied by the presenter. Then there was a short conversation (usually the participants answered the moderator’s questions), after which the jury gave marks to each of the participants. There was also a "Freestyle" competition hosted by Maria Bogdanova. After Yuri Nikolaev's partner changed, the competition was cancelled. Also, the program, together with the New Names Foundation, held a competition for young classical music performers, which was judged in the same way as the pop one. Since 1993, the scenery has changed in the program. The screens disappeared, and in their place a musical staff appeared. The rules of the competition have also changed. The participant who scored a large amount of points approached the staff and, using notes with numbers, chose an opponent with whom he was to perform in the next round. Also, the children's vocal genre was divided into two categories: from 3 to 9 years old and from 9 to 15 years old, and a folklore competition was added.

Closing the transfer

In 2002, the general director of Channel One, Konstantin Ernst, despite any persuasion from Yuri Nikolaev, took “Morning Star” off the air, which, in his opinion, could prevent the viewer from perceiving the new project “Star Factory”. The program moved to the TVC channel, where it aired for a year. The last episode of the program was released on August 3, 2003.

On October 3, 2016, the resumption of the program was announced and the competition website was opened now for admission to the semi-finals. It is necessary to obtain a majority of votes from registered Internet users. New nominations have been added: cinema, freestyle and family

Notes

Excerpt characterizing Morning Star (TV show)

“Countess,” the count’s voice was heard from behind the door. -Are you awake? – Natasha jumped up barefoot, grabbed her shoes and ran into her room.
She couldn't sleep for a long time. She kept thinking that no one could understand everything that she understood and that was in her.
"Sonya?" she thought, looking at the sleeping, curled up cat with her huge braid. “No, where should she go!” She is virtuous. She fell in love with Nikolenka and doesn’t want to know anything else. Mom doesn’t understand either. It’s amazing how smart I am and how... she’s sweet,” she continued, speaking to herself in the third person and imagining that some very smart, smartest and nicest man was talking about her... “Everything, everything is in her.” , - continued this man, - she is unusually smart, sweet and then good, unusually good, dexterous, swims, rides excellently, and has a voice! One might say, an amazing voice!” She sang her favorite musical phrase from the Cherubini Opera, threw herself on the bed, laughed with the joyful thought that she was about to fall asleep, shouted to Dunyasha to put out the candle, and before Dunyasha had time to leave the room, she had already passed into another, even happier world of dreams , where everything was as easy and wonderful as in reality, but it was only even better, because it was different.

The next day, the countess, inviting Boris to her place, talked with him, and from that day he stopped visiting the Rostovs.

On December 31, on New Year's Eve 1810, le reveillon [night supper], there was a ball at Catherine's nobleman's house. The diplomatic corps and the sovereign were supposed to be at the ball.
On the Promenade des Anglais, the famous house of a nobleman glowed with countless lights. At the illuminated entrance with a red cloth stood the police, and not only gendarmes, but the police chief at the entrance and dozens of police officers. The carriages drove off, and new ones drove up with red footmen and footmen with feathered hats. Men in uniforms, stars and ribbons came out of the carriages; ladies in satin and ermine carefully stepped down the noisily laid down steps, and hurriedly and silently walked along the cloth of the entrance.
Almost every time a new carriage arrived, there was a murmur in the crowd and hats were taken off.
“Sovereign?... No, minister... prince... envoy... Don’t you see the feathers?...” said from the crowd. One of the crowd, better dressed than the others, seemed to know everyone, and called by name the most noble nobles of that time.
Already one third of the guests had arrived at this ball, and the Rostovs, who were supposed to be at this ball, were still hastily preparing to dress.
There was a lot of talk and preparation for this ball in the Rostov family, a lot of fears that the invitation would not be received, the dress would not be ready, and everything would not work out as needed.
Along with the Rostovs, Marya Ignatievna Peronskaya, a friend and relative of the countess, a thin and yellow maid of honor of the old court, leading the provincial Rostovs in the highest St. Petersburg society, went to the ball.
At 10 o'clock in the evening the Rostovs were supposed to pick up the maid of honor at the Tauride Garden; and yet it was already five minutes to ten, and the young ladies were not yet dressed.
Natasha was going to the first big ball in her life. That day she got up at 8 o'clock in the morning and was in feverish anxiety and activity all day. All her strength, from the very morning, was aimed at ensuring that they all: she, mother, Sonya were dressed in the best possible way. Sonya and the Countess trusted her completely. The countess was supposed to be wearing a masaka velvet dress, the two of them were wearing white smoky dresses on pink, silk covers with roses in the bodice. The hair had to be combed a la grecque [in Greek].
Everything essential had already been done: the legs, arms, neck, ears were already especially carefully, like a ballroom, washed, perfumed and powdered; they were already wearing silk, fishnet stockings and white satin shoes with bows; the hairstyles were almost finished. Sonya finished dressing, and so did the Countess; but Natasha, who was working for everyone, fell behind. She was still sitting in front of the mirror with a peignoir draped over her slender shoulders. Sonya, already dressed, stood in the middle of the room and, pressing painfully with her small finger, pinned the last ribbon that squealed under the pin.
“Not like that, not like that, Sonya,” said Natasha, turning her head away from her hair and grabbing the hair with her hands, which the maid who was holding it did not have time to let go. - Not like that, come here. – Sonya sat down. Natasha cut the tape differently.
“Excuse me, young lady, you can’t do this,” said the maid holding Natasha’s hair.
- Oh, my God, well, later! That's it, Sonya.
-Are you coming soon? – the countess’s voice was heard, “it’s already ten.”
- Now. -Are you ready, mom?
- Just pin the current.
“Don’t do it without me,” Natasha shouted, “you won’t be able to!”
- Yes, ten.
It was decided to be at the ball at half past ten, and Natasha still had to get dressed and stop by the Tauride Garden.
Having finished her hair, Natasha, in a short skirt, from which her ballroom shoes were visible, and in her mother’s blouse, ran up to Sonya, examined her and then ran to her mother. Turning her head, she pinned the current, and, barely having time to kiss her gray hair, again ran to the girls who were hemming her skirt.
The issue was Natasha's skirt, which was too long; Two girls were hemming it, hastily biting the threads. The third, with pins in her lips and teeth, ran from the Countess to Sonya; the fourth held her entire smoky dress on her raised hand.
- Mavrusha, rather, my dear!

“Morning Star” rose in the spring of 1991 and shone for 12 long years, inviting children to musical festivals on Sundays. The first broadcast, released on March 7, became a kind of gift to all mothers and grandmothers for International Women's Day. And it was real happiness to admire the children and admire their successes!

If the stars light up, it means someone needs it. The transfer has become not just necessary, but necessary. The country is on the eve of collapse, lawlessness and chaos reign, store shelves are empty - “Boss, everything is gone!” There’s no other way to say it. “Morning Star” became the straw for that time, which allowed one to be distracted, and to rejoice, and to believe in the future. And so, with great pleasure, we dropped everything we were doing, sat down in front of the screens, followed the competition program and selected young talented heroes for ourselves.
Everything about the program was pleasantly impressive - the scenery, the script, the rules of the competition, and, of course, the live sound. Well, what about the young contenders for victory? They simply touched adults and delighted their peers when they tried on the role of pop performers in a completely unchildish way!
Parents imagined their children as participants, and they, in turn, dreamed of the stage and their finest hour. And if regarding other programs the views of TV viewers could be divided into good and bad, then here there were no two opinions - everything was fine and great!
The contestants performed in song and dance genres in two age categories. There were 4 rounds, with two participants taking part in each. The performer who scored the most points advanced to the next stage. The competition was assessed by a representative jury, which included popular artists. This fact inspired the participants and spurred them on; they seemed to take over the baton from the older generation.
The program also included creative competitions for classical music performers. And for the first time in years, a TV presenter competition was held among girls. So we can say with confidence that Morning Star was a forge of pop and television shots.
TV viewers wanted to see all the kids as winners. After all, they all tried, gave their all. But a competition is a competition. And it was so nice to see that even the losers were not ignored - they were the ones who were given gifts.
We assessed the feasibility of a completely unique transfer a little later. When, literally before our eyes, the stars that lit up on a children's show ascended to the pop Olympus. After all, it was on the Morning Star that we first met Valeria, Ani Lorak, Sergei Lazarev, and Angelika Varum. It’s probably impossible to list all the celebrities for whom the children’s music program was a successful start.
One cannot help but recall the organizer and ideological inspirer of the program, Yuri Nikolaev. It was his idea, his brainchild. He put his soul, energy, and love into the program. Few people believed in the idea, as he stated in an interview. Moreover, they didn’t particularly want to give money for the transfer, and Nikolaev had to take out a loan from a bank. This deserves great respect, and TV viewers of the 90s appreciated the act of a true Master.
Even sitting in front of the TV screens, one could see how the presenter supported the participants with words and inspired with a smile. And although he treated young talents as adult participants, his parental concern for each contestant was visible to the naked eye.
It was a great idea to involve someone the same age as the contestants as a co-host. This gave the program a special charm. The very first was Masha Bogdanova. Next to her, the contestants felt much more confident. And, in general, the creative tandem of two generations of presenters created a cozy and indescribable holiday atmosphere on stage, for which good friends gathered.
I am glad that after some break, “Morning Star with Yuri Nikolaev” again gathers fans at the screens.

To become famous, you first need to start doing and achieving something in life. Many stars have been achieving this since childhood. To become famous, you need to find your favorite thing, a passion for a hobby, and succeed in it.

There is also no need to hide your talents and skills, as they can be useful to other people. This is what the celebrities took advantage of, which we will talk about in this article.

In March 1991, the first musical talent competition in the history of Russian television, the program “Morning Star,” started on ORT (“Channel One”).

The host of the show, Yuri Nikolaev, introduced the country to many future celebrities, but in 2003, the program was pushed off the air by the reality “Star Factory”...

We remembered the musicians who started on the stage of the Morning Star.

"Lyceum"

Anastasia Makarevich, Elena Perova and Isolda Ishkhanishvili shot in 1995 with the song “Autumn”. 4 years earlier, the girls warmed up on the stage of the Morning Star with the ABBA song “One of Us”.

Prokhor Chaliapin

In 1999, Prokhor took third place on Zvezda with the song “Unreal Dream”. The future wife of the young artist was then 43 years old...

Ani Lorak

In March 1995, a certain Carolina had already applied for “Morning Star,” so 17-year-old Carolina Kuek wrote her name backwards and, under an unusual pseudonym, sang the song in her native language.

Valeria

In 1992, Valeria won the Morning Star. 22 years old was the maximum age to participate in the competition.
