12-year-old Darcy Lynn Farmer from Oklahoma City performed yesterday on “America's Got Talent” (“America is looking for talent” or “America has talent”) - an analogue of such shows as “People's Artist” or “Minute of Fame” in Russian television.

Darcy performed a duet with the doll Petunia. Petunia is a rabbit, as Darcy herself explained when answering a question from a jury member. You've probably already figured out that the girl from Oklahoma is a ventriloquist. Ventriloquism or ventrology is a stage technique in which a person (ventriloquist, ventrologist) speaks or sings without moving his lips, creating the illusion that the voice is not coming from him, but from another subject, for example, a doll.

The young artist said that she began to practice ventriloquism to overcome embarrassment. It was difficult for her to communicate with others, and with the help of ventrology it was easier to contact people.

The level of skill of a ventriloquist is measured by the ability to hide the fact that the sound, the voice, comes from himself, while maintaining complete stillness on his face. Even imitating another subject's conversation is quite difficult, but perhaps even more difficult is singing. When singing, you need to inhale much more air than when talking, and inhale unevenly. Humming or performing simple pieces of music is a manageable height for high-level ventriloquists. But Darcy set the bar high...

In the latest episode of America's Got Talent, she (that is, Petunia) sang composer George Gershwin's song “Summertime” from the opera “Porgy and Bess,” which is difficult even for a normal performance. At the same time, not only did Darcy perform an entire performance with Petunia in the title role, she also beautifully performed a complex composition, skillfully hiding her singing through her teeth.

The audience and jury greeted the young talent's performance with applause, and ex-Spice Girl member Mel B pressed the special “golden” button. Each jury member is only allowed to press this button once during the entire show, sending the auditionee straight to the semi-finals, regardless of the opinions of the other judges. The use of the "golden button" (or "golden buzzer") at a show is an exceptional event.

Jury member Simon Cowell, known for his high demands on contestants, said: “I will remember you in a week, in a month, in a year. You’re both great,” he said. “I am sure that the rabbit is a real individual person. I love you. I believe you will go far. You just changed your life, young lady,” said another judge, Howie Mandel.

It's not often that you come across a 12-year-old ventriloquist who can wow the entire room, including the jury, like Darci Lynne did.

Darcy appeared on America's Got Talent accompanied by a toy rabbit named Petunia.

The girl said that she dreamed of getting on the show to keep the art of ventriloquism alive, because it is becoming less and less common today.

At first it seemed that the girl could not surprise the audience with anything. By the way, you could even see how her lips moved when the rabbit started talking

But as soon as she sang the famous song “Summertime” with her mouth closed, the judges and the entire audience simply opened their mouths

At the end of the performance, the entire audience gave Darcy a standing ovation, and as a result, she advanced to the next round

“You know what? I think your doll is very similar to you, just as charming and charming. My heart melted, you were magnificent. I’m trying to describe how incredible it was,” said singer Melanie Brown, after which she pressed the so-called golden buzzer ( golden buzzer), giving the right to automatically skip one of the show participants into the next round, regardless of the opinions of the others, once per transfer to any jury member.

Congratulations to Darcy and Petunia!

The new star of the Network has become a 12-year-old girl, Darcie Lynn Farmer, who, after performing on the American talent show “America's Got Talent,” captivated millions of people. Darcy performed a duet with the doll Petunia on the stage of the show - she sang the song “Summertime” from the opera “Porgy and Bess” from the doll’s perspective, without opening her mouth.

Before the performance, the talent show participant admitted that she is a ventriloquist and can sing and speak without moving her lips. She said that she mastered this skill in order to overcome embarrassment when communicating with others. On stage, Darcy proved that she can not only speak, but also sing beautifully, keeping her face completely still.

The audience and jury of the talent show greeted Darcy's performance with loud applause, and ex-Spice Girl member Mel B could not contain her emotions and pressed the special “golden” button, which allows the audition participant to be sent straight to the semi-finals, regardless of the opinions of the other judges.

After the girl’s unique performance as a ventriloquist at a talent show, a video of her performance quickly spread online. On Facebook, the video was viewed by 108 million people in the first 24 hours after its publication.
