“Disco “Avaria”” is a Russian pop group.

Despite the fact that the official date of birth of the group is considered to be June 5, 1990, the group began its activities back in 1988. Its founders, Alexey Ryzhov and Nikolai Timofeev, first studied in the same class, then played together in KVN, and later began working as DJs in clubs. At first the group was called "Interview", then - "Fire Extinguisher", and only then - "Disco "Accident". The guys owe this name to the “Avaria” club in the city of Ivanovo, which was their main place of work.

For three years, starting in 1990, the duo hosted the “Disco Crash” program on the Europe Plus-Ivanovo radio station. As part of this program, the musicians made remixes of famous hits and also sang parody songs. In addition, every month, until 1998, collections with foreign dance novelties were published, called “Disco Crash”.

In 1992, the duo became a trio - Oleg Zhukov joined the guys, and in 1996 the group already became a quartet, when Alexey Serov joined it.

The “Avarians” regularly performed at local festivals and discos. And in 1997, their first album, “Dance with Me,” was released, which became successful in the musicians’ hometown.

Two years later, Alexey Ryzhov brought several songs of the group to the Soyuz studio. And soon these tracks ended up in the collections “Soyuz 23”, “Soyuz 24” and “Soyuz 25”. The group became famous throughout the country. But real popularity came to “Disco” after the release of the song “New Year’s”, which became a real hit, oddly enough, in the summer of 2000.

In 2001, the disc “Maniacs” was released, which won the “Album of the Year” award.

In the winter of 2002, Oleg Zhukov passed away after a long illness. The group suspended its activities for some time.

At the same time, “Disco Crash” won the “Best Russian Act” category at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Barcelona. The following year, the group received the MUZ TV award as “Best Dance Project” and “Best Pop Group”. In addition, “Disco Crash” has repeatedly received Golden Gramophone statuettes.

In addition, the musicians also tried their hand at cinema: in 2003, they starred in the New Year's musical film “The Snow Queen,” playing robbers.

In the spring of 2006, Disco released the album “Four Guys,” dedicated to the memory of Oleg Zhukov.

The following year, “Disco Crash” was again awarded the MUZ TV award for “Best Duet” and “Best Video”, performing the song “Malinki-Malinki” with Zhanna Friske.

Over the course of several years, the group has become the winner of several awards, including the “MK Sound Track”.

In 2011, the group’s new album, “Non-Children’s Time,” appeared on the Internet.

And on New Year’s Eve, with the participation of “Disco”, the premiere of the film “The New Adventures of Aladdin” took place on the “Russia 1” channel, where Russian pop stars played.

In 2012, global changes occurred in the team - Nikolai Timofeev, who had worked in it for 22 years, left the group and began a solo career. Instead, a soloist was taken - Anna Khokhlova, a participant in the Ukrainian project “X-Factor”.

Nikolai Timofeev is a composer and musician, one of the founders of the popular group “Disco “Avaria”. He performed as a member of this musical group for twenty-two years, after which he began a solo career.

Childhood and family of Nikolai Timofeev

Nikolai was born in the city of Ivanovo. The parents of the future musician and composer were not people of creative professions. My father worked at a factory and was a process engineer, and my mother worked as a lawyer.

The singer recalls that in early childhood, the biggest impression on him was the concert of Alla Pugacheva, which he attended with his parents. The boy remembered the event as joyful and festive, and this despite the fact that he was only four years old.

Everything related to music fascinated little Kolya. His parents enrolled him in the city dance ensemble “Smile”. Soon he began to attend clubs and various sections. At the age of six, the boy went to the first grade of a general education school and the first grade of a music school, where he studied piano. The most painful subject for him was solfeggio. This was the reason that a year later Nikolai persuaded his parents to allow him to leave the music school.

Next to the Timofeevs’ house there was a sports school with an athletics section. It was extremely convenient to study close to home. Nikolai ran long and short distances, long and high jump. This is probably where he stayed the longest. The coach was demanding; young athletes often went to competitions.

Nikolai was an active child. He participated in reading competitions, often took part in public events, played hockey, football, karting, and studied to become a projectionist.

The future artist’s favorite school subjects were: singing, works, physical education, drawing, history, geography, English language and literature. Timofeev did not like precise objects.

The first discos of Nikolai Timofeev

For the first time, Timofeev became the host and organizer of a disco in his sports school. He was great at it, which is why he was invited to hold discos in secondary schools.

Timofeev was a regular visitor to the record library. He needed them to hold discos; in addition, he made recordings from the records on his tape recorder. The teenager’s favorite musical programs were “Morning Mail”, “Melodies and Rhythms of Foreign Pop”, “Peter’s pop-show”.

Nikolai not only played sports, he also attended classes in the musical group “A+B”. Having gone to summer camp, Timofeev met Lyosha Ryzhov there. They turned out to have a lot in common, including a passion for modern music. Together, the teenagers held many discos at the camp, thanks to which Lyosha and Nikolai became extremely popular among their peers. It was in the camp, performing other people's songs on stage, that the guys realized that music was their calling, and then they felt the taste of fame, albeit in a separate children's camp.

Nikolai Timofeev and “Disco “Accident”

After school, Nikolai became a student at the Energy University. Ryzhov also studied there. Having united, they organized their first musical group, which they called “Fire Extinguisher”. Soon the guys won the city ensemble competition.

Two years later, Timofeev’s musical group was renamed. The reason was an incident that happened during one of the discos. When the lights suddenly went out and panic began, the young people, without being taken aback, announced that no one should worry, since “Disco “Accident” was with them. The young musicians liked this spontaneous name so much that they decided to continue calling themselves by this name.

In 1992, Oleg Zhukov joined the duet of Timofeev and Ryzhov. Four years later, after the band released their debut album “Dance with Me,” Alexey Serov also came to them. Zhukov and Serov were the main vocalists. In the seven numbered albums released, Timofeev's singing is heard only in a few songs.

Soon Nikolai began writing songs, but none of his works were included in the repertoire of the musical group.

Split in the group "Disco" Accident ", Nikolai Timofeev today

The team “Disco “Crash”, having existed for twenty-two years, split. Timofeev left it. Then litigation began, during which mutual claims of musicians, copyrights and the rights of the founders were discussed.

Nikolai continued performing, but now solo. During his performances, he performed songs of his own composition. The musician and singer during his interviews repeatedly reported that he did not leave the group of his own free will, he was simply forced to do so.

In the fall of 2012, Nikolai presented his solo program, the name of which is “Start over.” In addition, around the same time, his new video “Happy New Year!” was released. In 2013, Timofeev’s fans appreciated his tracks “My Autumn” and “You Excite Me.”

"Go Russia!" - the name of the video clip, which was released in 2014 on the eve of Russia Day. The co-author of the song and the director of the video is Nikolai Timofeev.

Personal life of Nikolai Timofeev

Nikolai Timofeev first married at the age of eighteen, and at nineteen he became a father. The young couple named their daughter Lisa. A year later, the family broke up, the daughter remained with Nikolai.

The singer’s second wife was Zinaida Kandaurina, who at that time served as director of the MTV channel. The family had two daughters - Anna and Ekaterina. In 2009, Zinaida and Nikolai divorced. Now Timofeev is in a civil marriage with Kristina Yakunina, a backing vocalist.

“Disco Accident” is a Russian musical group from Ivanovo, based on the decline of the USSR. Their main direction is dance music with easy to remember lyrics and layering of musical styles. The artists received special recognition in the early 2000s.

History of creation

The active work of “Disco Accident” began in 1990, although in fact the performers began delighting the public with their DJ sets, if you could call it that, back in 1988. Initially, Alexey Ryzhov and Nikolai Timofeev studied together at the Ivanovo Energy University and played in KVN .

Once upon a time, creative guys were tasked with holding a disco at the Electron student club. During the performance in a room that had seen better years, the lights went out, but either Timofeev or Ryzhov hastened to reassure the people: “Everything is fine, because we are “Disco Accident”.

Disco Crash – Drink beer

A little later, the guys were offered work at Ivanovo radio, where they became real innovators. As part of the show, they reviewed new music, made remixes (although this word was still new) to popular compositions, for example, they could put a house section and cool samples on a song by Alla Pugacheva - young listeners were delighted. The program, of course, was called “Disco Crash.”

The name “Accident” often justified itself in a negative way. The Kiev tour brought the band a broken tire in the middle of a flat road; during a performance at the stadium, right before the band went out to the public, the wiring caught fire; in front of the club where the musicians were holding a concert, a stone fence, which had previously stood there for about a hundred years, collapsed for no apparent reason, and so on. Further. Since each such incident managed to avoid casualties, the artists treated “collecting” their emergency situations with irony.

The main stages of creativity

The tandem turned into a trio in 1992, when they were joined by an actor from the puppet theater Oleg Zhukov, to whom the nickname “Fat Man” quickly became attached. Performances began to be regular, and more than one album's worth of song material had accumulated.

Since the mid-90s, songs from “Disco Crash” began to be included in collections of popular music from the Soyuz recording studio. When selecting albums, the compilers of the albums were guided solely by the demand for a particular composition, and therefore the songs of “Time Machine”, Boris Moiseev or “Agatha Christie” coexisted perfectly with “Disco Crash”.

“Disco Accident” presented the first album “Dance with me” in 1997. After this, Alexey Serov joined the team. There were several memorable songs on the cassette (“Malinka”, “Drink Beer”, etc.), but it cannot be said that the recording made a splash.

The first absolute hit from the “Avarians” was the song “New Year’s” (1999) with a bright animated video. It still remains in great demand on the eve of the holidays. Also, the all-Russian popularity of the group was influenced by remixes of “You Ditched” and “I Won’t Soon” by Lyapis Trubetskoy.

Disco Crash – New Year's

Since there was a lot of developments, one after another the non-numbered albums “Song about you and me” (1999), “Marathon” (1999), “Accident against!” were released. (2000). Their track list contained original compositions by “Accident,” but most were remixes of songs by other artists: “Mumiy Troll,” “Brilliant,” “Zhuki,” etc.

But the album “Maniacs” was released in 2001, which included 11 compositions and included a bonus “New Year’s”. Songs "H.H.H.I.R.N.R." (which stood for "hip-hop, house and rock 'n' roll") and "Sky" were released as maxi-singles, both reaching top positions on the music charts. The clip for the latter was even named the best clip of the year according to Muz-TV.

Disco Crash – H.H.H.I.R.N.R.

In the same year, the hit “You hesitated!” brought the first Golden Gramophone to the Avarians. A year later, they were among the “Song of the Year” laureates. Throughout their career, the group received these awards more than once.

The ninth composition on the album “Maniacs” was the song “Disco Superstar”, which glorified the talent of the “fat DJ” Oleg Zhukov. It was filmed when the seriously ill Zhukov had already resigned himself to the inevitable. The video was released in 2002 – posthumously.

Perhaps the most charismatic member of the group was not only a good DJ, but also a masterful rapper. Alas, simultaneously with the advent of national fame, in August 2001, Oleg was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Everyone’s favorite “Fat Man” hid his illness from the press and public for a long time, underwent an operation, after which there was an improvement, but in November 2001 he was no longer able to perform with his comrades. When asked where Oleg had disappeared, the musicians laughed it off. So the death of 29-year-old Zhukov on February 9, 2002 came as a surprise to fans of the group. The last video of “Disco Accident” with the participation of Oleg Zhukov was the video for the song “At the Edge of the Attack”.

"Discosuperstar" was released posthumously

Timofeev, Ryzhov and Serov decided not to look for a replacement for their deceased friend. Oleg's comrades took a creative break and disappeared from the radar. In 2006, “Disco Crash” returned with a new album, “Four Guys” (the title indicated that Oleg continued to be the fourth member of the group), but a ceremonial comeback did not work out. Although the composition “Malinka”, a collaboration with Zhanna Friske, was actively played on all radio stations, and a provocative video was shot for “Severe Rap,” fans did not accept the new work, and some even accused the team of “opsification.” “We have descended into banality and plagiarism!” the listeners were indignant.

In 2011, “Disco Accident” was awarded the “Silver Galosh” anti-prize in the “Plagiarism of the Year” category: in their song “Aram-zam-zam” they found similarities with the soundtrack from the Soviet “The Hound of the Baskervilles” with Livanov and Solomin. In the same year, a new album, “Non-Children's Time,” was released.

Disco Crash – Aram-zam-zam

In 2012, Nikolai Timofeev went into free swimming. The discord between the old friends was explained by creative contradictions: Ryzhov and Serov said that Timofeev performed solo with the group’s “common” songs at the Slavic Bazaar festival, although he did not have the right to do so. And from Nikolai’s point of view, the reason for his departure was a conflict with Ryzhov - former friends constantly argued over who was doing more for the group. Moreover, he accused Ryzhov of legal fraud, as a result of which the rights to all the songs of “Disco Accident” passed to Alexey.

In November, Timofeev’s place was taken by Anna Khokhlova, a participant in the third season of the Ukrainian show “X-Factor”. Already with the new lineup, the album “Girl Behind the Wheel” (2014) was released.

Fans considered the joint work of the “Avarians” with Philip Kirkorov to be noteworthy. The song “Bright Me” (2016) received its own video, where the band members caught some kind of Pokemon, more like the king of Russian pop music.

Scandals

“Disco Crash” had a very difficult time breaking off relations with team member Nikolai Timofeev. Many unpleasant words were said towards each other on both sides of the conflict. At the end of 2013, Ryzhov even sued his ex-colleague for copyright infringement. In response, a similar lawsuit followed from Timofeev. The litigation dragged on for several years. Everyone was unhappy with the decision: Nikolai was forbidden to perform the songs he claimed, but Alexey did not receive the compensation that he initially insisted on.

In August 2018, Alexey Ryzhov was unable to go on vacation to Italy with his family. The artist was turned away at the airport: he was not allowed to leave the country due to debts and non-payment of taxes.
