On March 6, 2017, after a serious illness, the poet, translator, member of the Union of Writers of Russia, longtime friend of the Humanitarian Center-Library named after the Polev family, Tatyana Nikolaevna Surovtseva, passed away.

Tatyana Nikolaevna Surovtseva was born on October 11, 1946 at the Khapcharanga mine in the Chita region. Tatyana worked for two years after graduating from school. And then I went to study. In the city on the Angara, she published her first poems in the newspaper “Soviet Youth”. I entered the Polytechnic University, choosing a geological specialty, but my heart was not in it. She worked at a long-distance telephone exchange and graduated from the library department of the Irkutsk cultural and educational school. In those years, her first collection of poems “I do not live behind a stone wall” (samizdat of the Communist Party of Ukraine) was published. After graduating from college, Tatyana Nikolaevna found herself among books, working in city libraries. In her free moments, she wrote down her poems.

The famous writer and critic Stanislav Zolottsev called the book “The Wing of Fate” as “solid, solid, strong,” noting that it contained more “sacrifice, a thirst to protect everything near and dear from harm.”

In 1988, the poetess became a laureate of the. Joseph Utkin. A year later, Tatyana Surovtseva was accepted into the USSR Writers' Union. From 1991 to 1993, the young writer studied at the Higher Literary Courses at the Literary Institute. A.M. Gorky. In 1999, the publishing house “Pismena” published the book “Snow Birds,” which included her poems and several magical stories - translations from French of fairy tales for children by Maria Louise Ware. She has been writing poetry for a long time and, it seems, she has always been writing - but she has not written so much. And yet... there are books for which you are not ashamed, marked by talent and originality. There is membership in the Writers' Union. And there is listener love that flares up instantly in any audience with whom she begins to share her thoughts.”

“Poems for me are always the result of an experience - not an instant flash of thought or feeling, but an attempt to connect the present, past, future - and a person in this three-dimensional space... And yet I can say that I do not set myself a small goal, but always a super task , which leads me forward to integrate into a new reality. What will it be like? On the threshold of the third millennium, the future seems wonderful, people seem highly cultured, proud, and pure. Will it be this way or that way? But a poet must always be above everyday life. That’s what I think,” wrote Tatyana Surovtseva.

Tatyana Nikolaevna loved to come to the Humanitarian Center, her literary evenings brought together full houses. She loved to introduce our readers to her students - young authors taking their first steps in literature. The anniversary evening for Tatyana Surovtseva’s 70th birthday in October 2016 was held within our walls.
