Spleen singer name. Spleen group - composition, photos, videos, listen to songs

- Group "Spleen" has existed on the Russian rock stage for more than 15 years. During this time, the group changed musicians several times; only the face of the group remained unchanged - Alexander Vasiliev. Now, rewinding time, it becomes clear that without Sasha the project will immediately wilt.

Almost immediately, “Spleen” decided on a musical stylist, to whom he has been faithful for more than 15 years. In the alternative rock segment, "Spleen" is perhaps the only popular project that can gather a whole room of fans. It must be said that the group has a very thoughtful audience, and since central radio stations and TV really don’t like “this business,” this is the only way to explain the almost complete absence of “Spleen” on central radio stations and TV channels.

The first album of "Splin" - the record "Dusty True" was released in 1994. In subsequent years, the group rarely took long breaks. Each new disc was released every 2-3 years, so fans could always appreciate and really understand what the creator of “Splin” is “breathing” today. All the group's records are imbued with a special atmosphere and deep philosophy. To understand what “Spleen” is singing about, you need to listen to all the released albums. Otherwise, the listener may have an ambiguous impression of the group. That's the point!

Vasiliev emerged as a popular performer in 1998, when a typically pop song, “Orbit Without Sugar,” suddenly became a hit from his “pomegranate” album. Written on a burning topic, in a matter of days it took the top lines of not only rock, but also pop charts. Then many said that the song was written to order. They say that in this way the famous chewing gum was advertised, but Vasiliev never spoke out on this topic.

Sasha rarely gives interviews, preferring to spend time not on empty conversations, but on writing new songs. In the entire history of the project, the group "Splin" has never appeared in the "yellow" chronicle, and Vasiliev does not participate in social events. The closed lifestyle of the main soloist appeals not only to fans of Splin. Even those music lovers who are alien to Vasiliev’s creations appreciate him for his steadfastness and loyalty to himself and his principles in relation to the strict rules of show business.

The Russian group “Splin” has been occupying high positions in various charts for many years. She has a huge fan base all over the world. The concerts of this group always attract a large crowd of fans who sincerely love it. When people get to know this group, they wonder what the name of the lead singer of “Spleen” is. Now the whole world knows him. The name of the lead singer of “Splin” is Alexander. He has been a soloist since the founding of the group.

Youth

“Splin” soloist Alexander Vasiliev was born on July 15, 1969 in St. Petersburg. His parents were engineers. Alexander spent most of his youth in the cultural capital of Russia. He lived in Lithuania with his family for only a couple of years. Vasiliev fell in love with music from an early age. Already in the seventh grade, he organized his first group, and his studies immediately faded into the background. In 1986, Vasiliev met Alexander Morozov. This fateful meeting happened by chance. A friend of Vasiliev invited him to a rehearsal. The future bassist of the group "Spleen" Morozov played in it. The guys regularly went to concerts and dreamed that someday the audience would applaud them. The first group, which was formed while still in school, was called “Mithra”. She became the prototype of the now legendary Russian rock band “Splin”.

First works

In their younger years, the group did not have money to record their songs. At first, the guys recorded their debut tracks at Alexei Morozov’s apartment. Only after this did the Splin group have the opportunity to record tracks in special studios. At that time, the team began to grow. Among the newcomers was Oleg Kuvaev, who later made the cartoon “Masyanya,” and Vasiliev’s future wife, Alexandra. There were many difficulties on the path of beginning musicians. The group “Mirna” did not even manage to join the Leningrad rock club. The team, despite the setbacks, continued to develop.

Military service and theater work

The lead singer of “Splin” Alexander Vasilyev, having dropped out of school, went to serve in the army. There, throughout his entire service, he was a clerk. During the service, Vasiliev did not stop writing songs. A small part of them was later included in the album “Dusty True Story”. After serving in the army, Alexander, with the help of a friend, gets a job as a stage assembler. At the same time, he studied at the theater institute. The lead singer of “Splin” Alexander Vasiliev also worked as a night watchman. In 1993, he and his friend Morozov got a job at the Buff Theater. But the following year they decided to leave there. The time spent there was not in vain. It was at the Buff Theater that they met keyboard player Nikolai Rostovsky.

Formation of the group “Splin”

At that time, the lead singer of “Splin” Alexander Vasiliev, together with his partners, was not yet famous. Therefore, they needed to find funds to record their first album. Aspiring musicians participated in dubbing advertisements and gave concerts in front of a small audience. The creation date of the legendary domestic group “Splin” is May 27, 1994. She celebrated the recording of her first album in a restaurant. There the band met guitarist Stas Berezovsky. The musicians themselves had no idea that their first album would gain such popularity. About 10 thousand audio cassettes were sold in the group’s homeland alone. Several songs from the album were broadcast on radio stations in St. Petersburg. This undoubtedly added new fans to the rock band.

The beginning of the popularity of the group “Splin”

The group’s first album, “Spleen,” was so popular that various popular labels subsequently decided to reissue it on CD. In 1994, the first official concert of the group “Splin” took place in a small club. In 1995, the lead singer of the group “Splin” began work on the album “Collector”. Then he successfully negotiates in Moscow, and the debut video “Be My Shadow” begins to be broadcast on ORT. Thanks to this, the group gained a considerable number of new listeners. Soloist Vasiliev began to be recognized on the streets. Then it became clear that the group had reached a new level.

Career continuation

In 1997, the group presented the album “Lantern Under the Eye”. A large number of people gathered at his presentation. At that time, the lead singer of “Splin” Vasiliev already had a whole army of fans. Their songs were regularly played on the radio. In the same year, the group “Splin” had its first big concert. It received low reviews from fans who attended. Despite this failure, the group continued to work hard and success awaited them at the next concert in Luzhniki. In 1997, personnel changes occurred in the Splin team. They have a new producer, Alexander Ponomarev. And at one of the concerts, Vasilyev’s partner was Yan Nikolenko, although he was not officially in the group.

Release of the album “Pomegranate Album”

In 1998, the guys released their 4th album. At the end of the summer of that year, the group “Spleen” was invited to perform for the legendary group The Rolling Stones. A little later, the group was officially replenished with two wonderful musicians: Yanik Nikolenko and Sergei Navetny. By that time, the group “Spleen” was no longer given rest by numerous fans. Their concerts attracted a large number of people from all over the country. The group released an experimental album “Altavista”. Then there was a lull, after which in 2001 the group “Splin” released the album “25 frames” and went on a joint tour of Russia and abroad with “Bi-2”.

The following year, Splin fans could purchase a recording of an acoustic concert that took place at the Stanislavsky Theater. Then the song “New People” appeared on the New Year’s broadcast of “Our Radio”. Subsequently, the group released an album of the same name, which was a success among fans. In April 2004, the team turned 10 years old. In honor of this significant event, Alexander Vasiliev released the album “Drafts”. It includes the soloist's songs written since 1988.

New album release

In 2004, the press received information that the Splin group had broken up and Vasiliev had gone solo. Despite this, the musician denied all the rumors in every possible way. In the same year, the group “Splin” released the album “Reverse Chronicle of Events” to the delight of its many fans. In addition to hits, it also contained experimental tracks, hard rock ballads and guitar compositions. In those days, the popular band toured regularly, and not all musicians could keep up with the current busy schedule. A significant loss was the departure of drummer Sergei Navetny.

Work on the ninth album “Split Personality”

In 2005, the group “Spleen” went on a big tour of America. In cities such as Chicago, New York and Boston, large numbers of fans of “Spleen” gathered. In parallel with this, the team began work on their ninth album. On April 2, 2006, the “Fuzz Prize” festival took place in his homeland. The popular rock band really surprised its fans. At the festival she performed four unknown songs. Subsequently, the group released many more albums, which were very popular among many fans. Many of her fans are interested in how old the lead singer of “Splin” Alexander Vasiliev is. He is currently 48 years old. The musician feels good and is making long-term plans. The well-known group tours the world a lot and releases new albums, which undoubtedly makes the band’s many fans happy.

For a long time, “Splin” has been one of the main rock bands in the country. Now she already has an army of fans all over the world. But only devoted fans know the following about her:

Soloist Alexander, in addition to music, enjoys painting. In 2008, an exhibition of this artist’s works took place in Moscow.

“Spleen” became the first domestic group to gain more than one million plays on the Last.fm project.

“Splin’s” songs were heard in many famous films. In addition, the tracks of the popular group can be heard in the cartoon “Masyanya” and the Russian version of the game GTA-5.

Personal life of the soloist “Spleen”

The lead singer of “Splin” Vasiliev has been married to Alexandra for quite a long time. His wife collaborated with the Mitra group. At that time, the unknown group was just beginning its journey to the Olympus of Russian rock. At the moment, the couple live in the city of St. Petersburg. There they are raising their son Leonid, who was born in 2006. Alexander is an exemplary family man and spends a lot of time with his son.

The biography of “Splin” soloist Alexander Vasiliev is an example for all aspiring musicians. At first, his career was not as successful as he wanted. But despite this, he has come a long way and gained a large number of fans. The group “Splin” will forever go down in the history of Russian rock. Therefore, you should never stop there.

"Spleen" (from the English spleen - "spleen") is a Russian rock band. The permanent leader is Alexander Vasiliev. The date of birth of the group is considered to be May 27, 1994.
In May 1994, in the sound studio of the St. Petersburg Buff Theater, where Alexander Vasiliev and Alexander Morozov were working at that moment, the first album, “Dusty True Story,” was recorded, one of the songs of which, “Under the swear word” (a poem by Sasha Cherny), gave group name:
I am moth-eaten by spleen...
Sprinkle me with mothballs
Put me in a chest and put me in the attic,
Until spring comes.
The album turned out to be popular and was sold throughout St. Petersburg with a circulation of about 10 thousand audio cassettes. It was subsequently re-released twice on CD by various labels. The group quickly became popular, its songs began to be broadcast on various radio stations, and in 1997 the group was invited to perform at the second Maxidrom rock festival. At the same time, the first concert was played at the Yubileiny Sports Palace (St. Petersburg), which was recognized by everyone as a failure. However, the next concert, played at Luzhniki, became a real sensation.
The newly created ORT Records label signed a contract with the promising group to publish their fourth album, released in 1998 under the title “Pomegranate Album.” He made the group truly famous. In June of the same year, Spleen performed as an opening act for The Rolling Stones. New members joined the group - Yanik Nikolenko and Sergey Navetny, and Alexander Ponomarev became the producer of “Splin”.

The lead singer and leader of the group continued to experiment with style, sound and lyrics. The result of these experiments was the album “Altavista”, which includes several of Vasiliev’s most unexpected songs, imbued with a narcotic and experimental spirit. After some lull, the album “25 frame” was released on March 21, 2001, after which the group, together with “Bi-2” and “Tomas”, organized a joint tour “Fellini”, which took place in several cities in Russia and abroad.

In 2002, a double disc “Acoustics” was released - a recording of an acoustic concert played at the Stanislavsky Theater.

After the release of the first single “Handball” (which, in addition to the song of the same name, featured the song “North-West”, the video clip “Plastic Life” and the flash video “spLin feat. Masyanya”, drawn by Oleg Kuvaev) and the album “New People”, unexpectedly Alexander Vasiliev’s solo album “Drafts” is being released for fans, which contains songs written by Alexander between 1988 and 2003. There were rumors that the group was breaking up, but Vasiliev himself denied them.

On May 18, 2004, the second single “Romance” was released. It featured three versions of the title song, as well as the instrumental composition “Steps”. In addition, “Romance” was released in a new format - on a three-inch CD.

On November 17, 2004, the album “Reverse Chronicle of Events” was released, where in addition to hits (“We sat and smoked,” “Geography lesson” and “Romance”) there were unexpected experimental instrumental tracks, hard rock ballads and soft guitar compositions. A few months after recording the album, drummer Sergei Navetny left the group. Alexey Meshcheryakov was hired in his place.

On October 17, 2005, the group began recording their next, ninth, album. His recording was interrupted by tours in North America - San Francisco, Chicago, New York and Boston. On April 2, 2006, the group took part in the festival on the occasion of the awards of the rock magazine FUZZ. The festival took place in the large arena of the St. Petersburg Yubileiny Sports Palace. To the surprise of the public and music critics, the group played only 4 songs, which were completely new and unfamiliar to most viewers. The band's guitarist Stas Berezovsky was absent from the performance. Instead, two musicians performed - the former guitarist of the group “Oedipus Complex” (former group of flutist Yan Nikolenko) Vladimir Kolyada and Innokenty Agafonov, “comrade-in-arms of yesteryear” Alexei Meshcheryakov. Rumors about the breakup of the group began to circulate again. An indirect confirmation of this was the band’s performance at the Moscow club “Tochka”, where two new guitarists (Vladimir Kolyada and Innokenty Agafonov) performed. To the question “Where is Berezovsky?” At first Vasiliev laughed it off: “In London.” And then he announced that the permanent guitarist of “Spleen” had “gone free.” Later, a message appeared on the official website about the departure of flautist Yan Nikolenko and one of the two new guitarists, Vladimir Kolyada, from the group. Apart from the message on the website, no comments were received from the group. Despite the dramatic changes in lineup, the group continued to record a new album. In June 2006, the second new guitarist Innokenty Agafonov left the group. Alexander Vasiliev still did not comment on anything. At the festival “Invasion” the group played as a four piece.

On January 5, 2007, the group announced a change in lineup on its official website. A new bassist, Dmitry Kunin, joined the group, having previously played in the same band with drummer Alexei Meshcheryakov. Due to a change in lineup, Vadim Sergeev returned to playing the electric guitar.

The current composition of the group:
Alexander Vasiliev - vocals, guitar;
Alexey Meshcheryakov - drums;
Vadim Sergeev - electric guitar;
Nikolay Rostovsky - keyboards;
Dmitry Kunin - bass guitar.

This is one of the most popular rock bands in Russia, known not only in the post-Soviet space, but also abroad. The songs of “Spleen” are broadcast on YouTube as videos, and foreigners ask for translations, admiring the songs unknown to them. Russians joke that the best depression is depression while listening to “Spleen,” and pay tribute to the group by quoting lines from its songs.

It cannot be said that at some moments the listeners most revered “Spleen”. The discography of 1994-2014 shows that during its twenty years of experience, the group released new hits over and over again. "Spleen" is not one of those who, having sung one song, will be forgotten. Their new album "Resonance" produced the same effect among fans and amateurs, adding a couple more hits to the list of the group's hits.

A little about the group

The 1994 album “Dusty True” is the debut of the group “Spleen”. The discography begins precisely from this moment.

What can you say about the group in general? "Spleen" is translated from English as "spleen", and this is an incredibly accurate name. The permanent leader of the team - the group's birthday is May 27, 1994, which means that this year she became an adult: “Spleen” turned twenty-one. The date was chosen prosaically: not from the day the album, recorded with the help of session musicians in the studio of one of the theaters, was released and sold tens of thousands of copies on audio cassettes, but when at a party Vasiliev and his long-time university friend Alexander Morozov met the guitarist Stas Berezovsky. A little later, the drummer, Nikolai Lysov, appeared.

Style and atmosphere

The team "Spleen" is called the main hypochondriacs of the country. This is probably why they are so loved: the Russian classics of literature of the 19th century already showed that the depressive style of art in Russia is very disgusting to its inhabitants, who recognize themselves in it.

The group is classified as a genre of Russian rock, although in essence it can be expressed in very different ways. The group's lead singer, Alexander Vasiliev, says that he does not want to settle on one style and is constantly experimenting. But one cannot help but notice that “Spleen,” whose discography is filled with many wonderful compositions, is still always recognizable by its own atmosphere.

Spleen and poetry

Usually Alexander Vasiliev himself writes the lyrics to songs: he tries on everyday situations that he himself experiences and transfers them to art. But “Spleen” also has a couple of songs, the words of which were taken from famous poems, for which the group can be thanked, because they popularized “Letter to Lilichka” by Mayakovsky, “The End of a Beautiful Era” by Brodsky, etc.

Interestingly, while turning poetry into music, "Spleen" maintains the rhythm of the poem and emphasizes its essence. It is impossible afterwards to read these poems differently than Vasiliev read them, because everything is done in the best possible way: the words are echoed in memory, and memory synthesizes their meaning.

1994 - release of the album "Dusty True"

The complete discography of the Splin group includes fourteen albums, with the last one, Resonance, divided into two parts.

“Dusty True” is a raw album in which a piece of the soul of each of the musicians is embedded. It feels like the group is still trying out its skills, but it must be said that they are doing it well. A song from the album like “They told me the word” already has characteristic solid lines, and all the compositions are imbued with the elusive St. Petersburg spirit. We should not forget that in “Dusty Were” Vasiliev sang his favorite city in the song “St. Petersburg Sky”.

1996 ‒ "Weapons Collector"

"The Collector" was a more mature album with a richer sound and an interesting sound. The sketch began to turn into a full-fledged painting. “Spleen” became more popular - a group whose discography interests fans even after twenty years.

The musicians went to conquer Moscow and signed a contract with SNC. This meant that two more albums were guaranteed to be released.

“The Weapons Collector” was marked by the hits “Black Color of the Sun” and “What Are You Going to Do.” It also contained the radio single “Fish Without Panties” from the previous album.

1997 ‒ "Lantern under the eye"

Just a year later, in April, the group's first album was released on SNC records. This year in general became very important for “Spleen”: Sound Product re-released “Dusty True”, the team took part in the second “Maxidrom”, and they finally got a manager.

“Lantern Under the Eye” introduced a bit of post-grunge, which “Spleen” (albums, discography of 1994-1997 were discussed above) had never played before. In “Byli” and “The Collector” such fabulous compositions were present in abundance.

“English-Russian Dictionary (Come on, Lama)”, “I Don’t Want to Go Home”, “Bonnie and Clyde”, “Nevsky Prospekt” - these hits appeared precisely thanks to the album “Lantern Under the Eye”.

1998 ‒ “Pomegranate Album”

April 1998 - release of the "Pomegranate Album". All the songs included in it had already been played live by Splin at concerts, and yet they still became the subject of numerous disputes and discussions. There were no more “fairy tales” in the album - only life compositions, in addition, the influence of psychedelics was evident. By the way, it was the “Pomegranate Album” that contained one of the group’s most famous songs, “No Exit.” Within its framework, “Orbit without sugar”, “All this nonsense”, “God is tired of loving us” were released.

1999 ‒ "Altavista"

Altavista is a new period of the group "Spleen". Complete discography 1994-2014. can safely be divided into two parts this year, because all the songs from the album are very mature, serious, grown-up.

In 2000, “Altavista live” was released on two CDs, containing concert recordings of the group. In the same year, “The Denominator” was released, a collection of songs from previous albums.

2001 ‒ “25th frame”

The new album was released two years later. At this time, the group first toured, and then took time out to record it. became something unusual - the songs from there were vaguely reminiscent of the times of “Lantern”, but at the same time contained notes of something that “Spleen” had never played before. The album includes the fruit of the group's collaboration with BI-2 - Fellini. It is interesting that the subsequent tour took place under the same name.

In 2001, changes occurred in the composition of the Splin team. Discography, music - all this, the permanent Alexander Vasiliev, was now going to create with Kolya Voronov and Vadik Sergeev. Morozov, who was with Vasiliev from the very beginning, left the group in favor of a quiet family life.

2002 ‒ “Acoustics” and “Handball”

In 2002, one- and two-disc versions of the recording of the group "Spleen" were released. The discography was also replenished with another album in the same year - “Handball”. It was a small collection of five songs, which however included another very famous hit - “My Heart”, which stopped and then started again.

2003 ‒ “Drafts” and “New People”

The release of “New People” delighted fans, but “Drafts”, in fact, was Vasiliev’s solo album. “Drafts” collected Alexander’s songs written in the period 1989-2003. This provided the basis for talk about the breakup of the group. But, fortunately, they were false.

2004 - the same “Romance” and “Reverse Chronicle of Events”

Vasiliev came up with the melody of “Romance” while listening to Chopin. Subsequently, the work became one of the most famous in the work of the Splin collective. The discography received an album dedicated to this song. "Romance" was released on a three-inch CD in three versions. This happened in 2004. At the same time, “Reverse Chronicle of Events” was published with its magnificent “We Sat and Smoked” and “Geography Lesson”. “Romance” was also included in the “..chronicle..”.

2006 ‒ “Split Personality”

In 2006, "Spleen" released another album. By this time, the group had become quite famous not only in the post-Soviet space, but also abroad and went on tour to New York, Boston, Chicago, and San Francisco. In addition, during this period the composition changed several times. Only the leader remained unchanged.

2007 ‒ “13 years in Rock and Roll”

To coincide with a collection of the best songs (some in an acoustic version) for the 13th anniversary of the group, in 2007 "Spleen" released "13 Years in Rock and Roll".

Changes in the group's composition were again announced on the official website.

2009-2014

In 2009 it was released and “Spleen” records a cover of the “Time Machine” composition “It Was So Long Ago.” The album also includes “Letter” based on poems by Joseph Brodsky. "Signal..." received well-deserved success, and the group, among others, was nominated for several awards at the Chart's Dozen awards.

2012 was the year of the release of “Optical Deception”, 2014 - “Resonance” in two parts. Both albums look more static, imbued with the atmosphere of "Spleen". But, despite this, Vasiliev always manages to surprise fans with new, extremely vital lines.

The complete discography of the group "Splin" is surprisingly revealing in terms of the creative and personal growth of each of the participants. In the history of seemingly depressed musicians there is a constant movement forward, and their works inspire with their bright sadness, but not at all with melancholy.
