Association project in Tsarskoe Selo. Project "Associations" in Tsarskoe Selo

“This is more of an image project than a commercial one. And we really liked it, as did our visitors. In 2018, the Tsarskoye Selo Museum-Reserve will be 100 years old, and we chose “Associations” as the brand for our anniversary. This is a unique union of the most outstanding designers of St. Petersburg. Fashion, its development and changes in human appearance are certainly related to the history of culture, art, geography and ethnicity of the country and city. We want everyone to see our fashion designers in all their glory,” said Olga Taratynova, director of the Tsarskoe Selo museum-reserve, at a press conference dedicated to the upcoming show.

Participants in “Associations 2017” will be Tatyana Parfenova, who will present her works in the Freylinsky kindergarten, Leonid Alekseev at the Mirror Pond, as well as Liliya Kiselenko, Stas Lopatkin and Yanis Chamalidi. Special guest - Seta Yandieva, designer of the YAND – Your Amazing Namaz Dress brand. Her dresses will be presented at the exhibition in the Turkish Bath pavilion.

“YAND is a Muslim brand created on the banks of the Neva. We sew clothes that are in great demand in Asian countries, but especially in the North Caucasus. And this is an international project: in our team there are people of different religions and nationalities, but we are all St. Petersburgers,” said Artem Balaev, producer of Aurora Fashion Week, who presented the brand.

The permanent director of the show for several years has been Victor Kramer.

“This project has become dear to me, as well as the people with whom I do it. I won’t be lying at all if I say that it takes us no more than half an hour to create the concept of the next fashion show, and then we develop our ideas and refine them. The fact is that we speak the same language, we have developed a close dialogue and spiritual connection. And the unique space of Tsarskoe Selo is the best backdrop for a fashion show. The Gothic theme is very complex, and all the fashion designers were wary of it, but as a result, everything turns out very original and with humor,” he said.

According to Lily Kiselenko, who will present her collection at the Tsarskoye Selo Admiralty, Gothic implies a certain esoteric component: “These are fires, the Inquisition, the color black... Gothic is always vertical, passion and laconicism combined with the multicolored stained glass.”

Many objects of Tsarskoe Selo bear the imprint of the neo-Gothic style, for which the Russian emperors had a weakness, - this is the Admiralty, the Gothic Gate, and the Ruin Tower.

The latter will feature a “knightly tournament” between Stas Lopatkin and Yanis Chamalidi.

“In my opinion, the main color of Gothic is gold. This is something sublime, subtle... It was the late Gothic that gave humanity all the basic cutting techniques. She laid the foundation for fashion, so it was very interesting to work,” said Stas Lopatkin.

“Stas and I became very close friends on this basis. I am confident that our work will demonstrate the truly St. Petersburg style in creative collections. Gothic is also a glorification of the Beautiful Lady, and we, designers, actually work for the sake of women. In addition to the color black, bonfires and the Inquisition, there was a strict canon within which it was interesting to try yourself. For example, it was with Gothic that the victorious march of the corset around the world began. I reflected this in my collection, narrowing the silhouette to the limit,” noted Yanis Chamalidi.

He said that the musical accompaniment of the fashion show will be provided by singer Arthur Frenev, as well as the group “The Sea Knows”.

The 2017 “Associations,” like all previous ones, were seventy percent funded by philanthropists, said Olga Taratynova. Since 2009, famous designers of St. Petersburg have been participating with great interest in creating clothes on the theme given by the museum. Inspired by Tsarskoe Selo, they have already presented the collections “War and Peace”, “Baroque”, “Game of Antiquity”, “Anglomania”, “Embassy Gifts: Countries and Styles” in different parts of the Catherine Park.

In 2015, a fashion show dedicated to the Chinese theme was held for the first time in Alexander Park. And in 2016, the museum turned to Russian costume, and shows returned to Catherine Park.

It is noteworthy that all designer collections presented at previous Associations shows were successfully sold out. Moreover, the new models also found their buyers.

“My collection for this year’s fashion show is already half reserved. I always try to create clothes to be worn. My things should decorate people,” emphasized Stas Lopatkin.

“Today is the best time for fashion. The world is open and welcomes Russian designers. And projects like “Associations” allow us all to meet with colleagues on the same platform and develop, solving completely unexpected creative problems that Tsarskoe Selo offers. This is a reason to go beyond your creative self and do something new,” said Yanis Chamalidi.

The designer said that the Gothic theme is now captivating the whole world. And on June 24, her charms will affect everyone who decides to walk through the Catherine Park of Tsarskoe Selo under the harsh sky of the St. Petersburg summer.

The Tsarskoye Selo Museum-Reserve will host a show by leading St. Petersburg designers from the Association for the ninth time. Its next topic was “Gothic: new meanings,” inspired by the architecture of the buildings of the Catherine Park and adjacent parks. , and will present their interpretations on the theme of mysticism, romanticism and expressiveness of the Gothic style. The special guest of the event will be Seta Yandieva, designer of the YAND (Your Amazing Namaz Dress) brand, which produces Muslim outfits.

Olga Taratynova

Director of the Tsarskoye Selo Museum-Reserve

“Initially, we planned to create a special occasion for visiting Catherine Park - a real landscape encyclopedia. We proceeded from the fact that design, clothing, and fashion are an integral part of culture, and the creativity of fashion designers fits organically into the museum environment. It seems to me that such an alliance between modern art and tradition makes us look at the world of fashion and the work of clothing designers with new eyes. It is also important that in terms of the degree of emotional impact, an ordinary tour of a palace or park is incomparable with theatrical shows. Therefore, we are not surprised that the “Associations” project arouses great interest among viewers.”

Traditionally, a director known for such projects as the musical “Music of the Silver Birds” and an updated version of the opera “Boris Godunov” will work on adapting the show to a fashion performance. According to him, over the years of working with the Associations design pool, they have developed a special internal connection that allows them to build a concept for a show in a matter of minutes.

Liliya Kiselenko

brand designer Lilia Kisselenko

“At first, the theme of the show alarmed everyone, but then we realized that something very interesting could come out of it. After all, Gothic is esotericism, and bonfires, and the Inquisition, and the color black, and cathedrals - everything that is aesthetically very close to me.”

Stas Lopatkin

brand designer Stas Lopatkin

“Gothic for me is something sublime and subtle. It's no secret that she is a source of inspiration for other followers, from the Renaissance to the Art Nouveau style. It was during the late Gothic era that humanity was given the basic cutting techniques: after voluminous shirts, the suit became narrower and more fitted. This period became a kind of fashion reference point.”

Yanis Chamalidi

brand designer Ianis Chamalidy

“This year, Stas and I decided to team up - at the same time compete and give the show guests the opportunity to compare our ideas. It turned out that within the same topic you can come up with completely different things. After all, in my vision, Gothic is the time of knights, when everything was done and created for and for the sake of ladies. By the way, our joint show will take place in an ideal Gothic place - the Ruin Tower with live music by the group “The Sea Knows” and dance accompaniment by the group “House of Bonchinche”.

For the ninth time, the Tsarskoye Selo Museum-Reserve invited leading St. Petersburg designers to create collections dedicated to the summer residence of Russian emperors. The main theme of “Associations 2017” - “Gothic: New Meanings” - poses a daring task for designers to convey irrationalism, upward striving, mysticism, romanticism and expressiveness of the Gothic style.

Participants of “Associations 2017” are Tatyana Parfenova, Leonid Alekseev, Liliya Kiselenko, Stas Lopatkin, Yanis Chamalidi.
Special guest - Seta Yandieva (designer of the YAND brand) will present dresses in the Turkish Bath pavilion.

Tsarskoe Selo has been inspiring architects, painters, masters of decorative and applied arts, and poets for centuries. This place combines different styles and historical eras and is literally imbued with beauty.

Among the directors of “Associations” are famous theater directors Vasily Barkhatov (2014) and Igor Konyaev (2015). In 2016, Viktor Kramer again became the director, who successfully works with St. Petersburg designers in Tsarskoe Selo.

In 2017, fashion designers will present their collections at the following venues in Catherine Park:
Tatyana Parfenova – Maid of Honor kindergarten;
Leonid Alekseev – Mirror Pond;
Liliya Kiselenko – Admiralty;
Stas Lopatkin, Yanis Chamalidi – Ruin Tower

This project is unprofitable for the museum. We could make it pay for itself, but in principle we do not raise the price of the entrance ticket; it costs 300 rubles. “Associations” has become our brand project. Next year the museum turns 100 years old. And we want to make “Associations” 2018 especially creative and large-scale.

Victor Kramer, director:
– I’ll be honest: it takes us about thirty minutes to create a concept, since there is an internal connection between the designers and the director, a spiritual dialogue. This year the theatrical fashion show is at the intersection of different genres and arts. We stage a fashion show in a historical setting that has been shaped over centuries. Gothic is a difficult topic. Now everything I observe in the process of preparing for shows is original and humorous. Because without humor nothing is possible at all.
Liliya Kiselenko, designer:
– We, as “singers of the black and the sacred,” were pleased with the choice of topic. For me, Gothic has an esoteric component: bonfires, cathedrals, the color black. In general, this topic gives me pleasure when creating a collection.
Stas Lopatkin, designer:
– For me, Gothic is not a dark time, but something sublime and subtle. One of its main colors is gold. For many people, Gothic art is a source of inspiration. At this time, an S-shaped silhouette line appears. This is the most interesting time for me - the beginning of fashion as we understand it now.
Yanis Chamalidi, designer:
– We create not just a seasonal collection, but a creative and special one, it helps us develop. This year we are sharing the stage for the fashion show with Stas Lopatkin, and it looks like a knightly tournament and competition dedicated to a beautiful lady and female beauty. I am close to the Gothic colors associated with icon painting - flaming red, Virgin Mary blue and black. For the first time, our show will be accompanied by a live performance by the group “More Znaet” and the dance group House of Bonchinche.
Artem Balaev, general producer of YAND:
Through beauty and religion we try to understand people of different faiths and faiths. We have an international team. The YAND (your amazing namaz dress) brand was created in St. Petersburg in 2015. Designer Seta Yandieva and her team focused on creating a dress for prayer. The dress from the YAND brand is hand-sewn from high-quality materials. It can take up to three months to work on such a product.

GOTHIC STYLE IN TSARSKOYE SELO

In the 1790s, on the territory next to the Alexander Palace under construction, the creation of a landscape-style park began, designed by gardener Joseph Bush the Son. The park with three ponds, mounds, and paths, easily fitted into a trapezoidal plot, was organically connected with the geometric New Garden in plan. In the 1810s, the work was continued by the architect Pyotr Neelov and the gardener Charles Manners, and from 1817 it was taken over by the architect Adam Menelas, who was tasked with creating a vast park.
Numerous park pavilions created by Menelas - the Arsenal, the Chapelle, the White Tower, the Lamskoy Pavilion, the Pensioner's Stable, the Imperial Farm complex - together formed a unique neo-Gothic ensemble of Tsarskoe Selo. The prototypes of the buildings may have been personally chosen by Alexander I, who during his stay in England in 1814 had the opportunity to see medieval and neo-Gothic architecture. The landscape, or English, park organically included such structures.
Construction, begun under Alexander I, continued after 1825 under Nicholas I, who had a penchant for everything that was associated with the romance of the Middle Ages, and, in particular, for neo-Gothic English architecture.
Neo-Gothic buildings can also be found in Catherine Park - the Admiralty complex, the Ruin Tower, the Gothic Gate.

Tsarskoe Selo has been inspiring architects, painters, masters of decorative and applied arts, and poets for centuries. This place combines different styles and historical eras and is literally imbued with beauty. Therefore, clothing designers happily accepted the idea of the director of the Tsarskoye Selo State Museum Olga Taratynova to demonstrate their collections at a theatrical fashion show in the picturesque parks of Tsarskoye Selo. This is how “Associations” was born - a unique museum project that combines history and modernity, classical and avant-garde art. Every year, starting from 2009, famous St. Petersburg designers create haute couture collections on a theme set by the museum. Inspired by Tsarskoe Selo and its unique atmosphere, they have already presented the collections “War and Peace”, “Baroque”, “Game of Antiquity”, “Anglomania”, “Embassy Gifts: Countries and Styles” in different parts of the Catherine Park. In 2015, a theatrical fashion show dedicated to the Chinese theme was held for the first time in Alexander Park.
