Biography of the artist

Born in 1883 in the village of Sofievka, which was located near the city of Berdyansk. The father of the future artist was a landowner and merchant. In 1892, Isaac became a graduate of the Berdyansk City School. In 1896, he entered the Odessa Art School, as his talent for painting was evident from a young age. In 1902, Brodsky graduated from college and left for St. Petersburg, where he entered the capital's Academy of Arts, where he studied with the famous Ilya Repin for five years.

After the October Revolution, Brodsky created many portraits of the leaders of that time - Lenin and Stalin. In 1932, the painter was awarded the title "Honored Artist of the RSFSR".

Since 1934, Isaac Izrailevich headed the Russian Academy of Arts. He died in 1939, on August 14, in Leningrad.

In addition to depicting heads of state, the painter created canvases on which he was able to convey the uniqueness of nature at different times of the year. These are the paintings “Fallen Leaves”, “At the Cottage”, “Park Alley”, “Golden Autumn”, “Winter”, “Summer Garden in Autumn”. Probably, many people were interested in learning about Brodsky’s painting Summer Garden in autumn and where it is located. So, today I see the picture not for the first time. The first time I saw her was in an art gallery where there was an exhibition of famous artists. This picture immediately attracted my attention, because here I saw familiar places. The painting took me to the beautiful garden of St. Petersburg, because the author depicted the Summer Garden in the painting, choosing the theme of autumn for the work. For some reason, autumn attracts many artists, and Brodsky is no exception. Apparently, artists love autumn, since this time of year, like the artists themselves, loves to paint the surrounding reality in different colors.

The picture, like the color palette that Brodsky depicted, is calm and at the same time, the people depicted in it walking in the garden make the picture come alive. If we make a description, then in the center we see an alley where people are leisurely walking. These are mostly mothers and parents with children. On this autumn day, there are also elderly people in the picture who are happily enjoying the last warmth of autumn on this sunny day. On the left, the author depicted a gazebo. It is made of wood and is probably a good place to hide from the hot and scorching rays of the sun, and in the fall the gazebo saves many from the rain.

Trees are planted on both sides of the alley, figuratively creating a living tunnel. The trees themselves already have yellow leaves, some leaves are lying on the ground, which means that it will soon be cold and winter will come.

If we talk about my impression of Brodsky’s painting Summer Garden in autumn, it is ambiguous. In general, the picture itself is peaceful and calming, but the theme chosen by the artist evokes sadness and, despite the fact that the picture depicts a sunny day, I understand that there are fewer and fewer such days in the fall, and we need to prepare for the cold, but I really don't like them. So the picture makes me feel a certain sadness, melancholy and longing for the passing summer.
