Olympiads that are taken into account for admission to Moscow State University. We enter a university based on the results of school Olympiads

Every year, a list of school Olympiads is published on the website of the Ministry of Education. In the 2016-2017 academic year, their number reached 88. School Olympiads are held by the country's leading universities. The general list of Olympiads for schoolchildren and the levels indicated in it cover the entire variety of these competitions.

Who needs the Olympics and why?

What is the meaning and practical benefit of such Olympiads? Most of them give a student from even the most remote region of Russia the opportunity to try their luck in entering any of the most prestigious universities in the country - from MGIMO and Moscow State University to Baumanka and St. Petersburg State University.

If you are the winner or prize-winner of this intellectual competition and scored 75 points or higher, you don’t have to worry about grades for the Unified State Exam. They don't matter now.

How the system works

There are different levels of Olympiads, there are three in total. Moreover, the appropriation occurs separately in each of the directions. What does this look like in practice? For example, the Lomonosov Olympiad covers about two dozen areas. Of these, only fifteen have first-level benefits, which provide the maximum prize - admission to any specialized university without competition.

The remaining five directions belong to the second of the levels. According to the terms of participation, the winner can add 100 points to his/her assets for the specialized Unified State Examination. The same rule is relevant for the third level Olympiad.

Which benefits an applicant is entitled to take advantage of is indicated in the admission rules of a particular university. Some of them provide significant benefits to winners of the 3rd level of Olympiads. Others (like Moscow State University or MGIMO) pay attention only to first-level Olympiads from among the most prestigious.

How the list is updated

In 2016, several new ones were included in the list of school Olympiads. We can mention Robofest, the school Olympiad of Innopolis University, and programming competitions. Future managers, students of music colleges and many others also took part in the tournaments. This list also includes the school Internet Olympiad in physics, held by three St. Petersburg universities.

Not only graduates, but also students in a younger class have the right to take part in such prestigious competitions. Their goal is not to provide themselves with benefits, but to make an attempt to test their own intellectual capabilities.

About the changes

The All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren stands apart. Its organizer is the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, and the participants are over 6 million students. It is not included in the general list, but the results of passing the levels of the All-Russian Olympiad for Schoolchildren are valid for admission to any university without exception. These competitions are a real chance for talented and hardworking children from any region. Winners of school competitions are admitted to the municipal level of the Olympiad. Here the selection becomes much stricter.

Since 2014, by order number 267 of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, a new Procedure has been introduced, containing detailed information on the regulations for conducting and approving the levels of Olympiads for schoolchildren. It does not apply only to the All-Russian Olympiad. And therefore, all previous orders concerning the approval of the procedures for annual competitions, the criteria for assigning them to one or another level, and samples of diplomas for prize-winners and winners are no longer relevant. They have lost their power.

What is contained in the new Order?

It determines, in particular, the timing and purpose of each Olympiad. They are organized to develop and identify among students interest and abilities for creativity and scientific activity. Other important goals of such events are the promotion of knowledge and

Their dates are set within the academic year from September to March inclusive. Each Olympiad consists of at least two stages. Conducting the final is allowed only in person. Any monetary payments or payment for participation in competitions are strictly prohibited.

Who organizes them

The organizers of the Olympiad can be federal authorities in charge of management in the field of education, as well as authorities of constituent entities of the Russian Federation, in addition, educational institutions implementing activities in accordance with educational programs of the highest level, scientific and government organizations, as well as any public organizations operating in the field of education .

All interested parties are involved in its implementation - from educational and methodological associations to the media. Analytical and expert support for the procedure for organizing each of the Olympiads is in charge of RSOSH - this is the short designation of the Russian Council of Olympiads for Schoolchildren, formed by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.

Who can take part in the Olympiad?

Participation in these competitions is assumed exclusively on a voluntary basis, exists in an individual form and requires the presence of students in all basic educational programs - both secondary general and The same right is given to persons mastering educational standards independently or on the basis of family education, as well as abroad .

The All-Russian Olympiad, the levels of which require the most massive participation of participants, perhaps gives the most realistic chance to everyone.

Each of the subsequent stages involves the participation of the winners and prize-winners of the previous one. Anyone who participated in the Olympiads in the previous academic year, became a prize-winner or a winner and continues to be a school student (or home-schooled or self-study), is allowed to participate this year without going through the qualifying stage.

What is prohibited at the Olympics?

During their conduct, none of the participants has the right to use any means of communication - electronic computer technology, any equipment (photo, video or audio), as well as reference materials, handwritten notes and any other means on which storage is possible and information transfer. The exception applies to individual items included by the organizers of the Olympiad in the list of permitted items and noted in the requirements and conditions for its holding.

Another exception includes special equipment of a technical nature for participants with the status of a person with disabilities (disabled person, etc.). If a student violates this procedure, as well as any of the conditions and requirements related to the competition, the organizer has every right to remove him from the audience with the cancellation of all results obtained and deprivation of the right to further participation in the current year.

Those who became such at the final stage are recognized as winners and prize-winners of the entire Olympiad. They are awarded diplomas of the first, second and third degrees, respectively.

School Olympiads: levels

Now let's move on to the issue that is most relevant for schoolchildren and their parents. What levels of school Olympiads exist, and by what criteria are they calculated? The determining factors include:

1. nominating their representatives to participate in the competition. Each of them must submit at least five participants to the school Olympiad.

2. Age of the competitors (the percentage of students in non-graduating classes in relation to the total number is taken into account).

3. The levels of the Olympiads are also determined by the complexity of the tasks and their creative nature.

Let’s take a closer look at what requirements apply to Olympiads of one level or another.

Level I

Subjects of the Russian Federation, the number of which must be at least 25, take part in such an Olympiad.

As for the age coverage of participants, this criterion has a threshold value equal to 30% of students in non-graduate classes in the general composition.

Regarding the level of complexity and creative nature of the proposed tasks, the final stage must contain at least 50% of them. This applies to questions of an increased level of complexity. And there must be at least 70% of original tasks of a creative nature.

Level II

If we are talking about other levels of the Olympiads, then representatives of at least twelve constituent entities of the Russian Federation or two federal districts are required to take part in this one. At the same time, at least half of the participants must be represented from the regions that are part of each federal district.

25% or more of the number of competitors must be students of non-graduating classes.

The level of complexity of tasks of a relevant nature should be at least 40%. The volume of creative original tasks is half or more. All this also applies to the final stage.

Level III

In terms of the severity of the requirements, the levels of the Olympiads are arranged in descending order. In this case, at least six constituent entities of the Russian Federation must take part in the competition. Another threshold value of this criterion is half or more of the number of regions that are part of the federal district organizing the Olympiad.

The age of the Olympiad participants must meet the following criterion: a fifth or more (i.e., 20%) of all those participating are required to study in a non-graduate class.

As for the level of complexity of the tasks, the final stage must contain at least 30% of the total. The same amount is allocated for mandatory original creative tasks.

A complete list of all Olympiads 2016-2017, levels and conditions of holding was approved by the Ministry for the current academic period before the date of September 1. The same procedure is followed annually. Citizens who have received accreditation as such in accordance with the regulations provided by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation can work as observers at Olympiads.

In addition, the new Procedure provides a detailed description of the samples based on which diplomas for prize-winners and winners are made.

What criteria are used to select the Olympiads included in the list?

There are many of them:

1. The organizer of the Olympiad holds such competitions for two or more years preceding the year in which the application for participation is submitted. If an Olympiad is proposed for inclusion in the list for the first time, the condition of not including another profile of the Olympiad of the same organizer in the said list over the previous three years must be met.

2. If an Olympiad of another type by the mentioned organizer was included in the list in the previous three-year period, then the organizer is obliged to hold it according to the procedure for at least 1 year.

3. Assignments and tests at the Olympiads must be creative in nature.

4. Persons listed in paragraph 15 of the Procedure must be provided with free access to participate in the event.

Other requirements

The organizer's official website on the Internet must contain all essential conditions and requirements relating to the conduct and organization of the competition. Assignments from previous years’ Olympiads and detailed information about the prize-winners and winners of last year’s (at least) Olympiad should also be posted there.

The declared number of participants should not be less than 200 people. Participants of no more than 25% of the total number can become winners and prize-winners at each stage of the Olympiad. Of these, no more than 8% can take first place.

The organizer of the Olympiad is obliged to have all the necessary resources for its implementation - methodological, personnel, organizational, material, economic and financial. The same requirement applies to having experience in conducting similar events.

Everything about the 2018 Olympiads, admission to them, detailed information

Admission to Olympiads is one of the ways to gain advantages over other applicants upon admission. .

IMPORTANT: To take advantage of the benefits of the Olympiad, you must score at least 75 points on the Unified State Exam. In some universities it is higher.

When entering the Olympiads, you can use them as:

  • 100 points in the relevant Olympiad subject;
  • enrollment without competition;
  • additional points for the Unified State Exam based on individual achievements;
There are cases when the Olympiad is held in several subjects at once. What matters is what subject is written in your final document.

Which Olympiads are taken into account and which are not?

There are two main areas of the Olympiad, victory and prizes in which will give you something.

1) All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren

Having the greatest weight, the “main” Olympiad.

Organization of the Olympiad. The Olympiad is free and takes place in several stages (more on them below). It happens that those who make it to the final stages need to visit neighboring cities or even regions in order to continue participating. Everything is free for participants and paid for from the budget by local authorities.

The winners receive. Money or benefits upon admission. 60 thousand rubles for the winner, 30 thousand for the prize winner from 14 to 25 years old. The winners, without entrance examinations, enter a university in a specialty that requires a specialized subject of the Olympiad. There is a second option: they receive 100 points in the core subject of the Olympiad if they choose a specialty whose entrance examination does not include the subject in which they won.

This Olympiad takes place in several stages:

STAGE 1. School. Takes place in October-November. Anyone can participate if they wish. It happens that you may not be invited. Ask yourself if you are interested. Approach your class teacher or principal with these questions. If you are refused, there is a reason to contact the local Ministry of Education.

STAGE 2. Municipal. Takes place in November-December. Winners and prize-winners of the school stage of THIS and LAST years can participate.

STAGE 3. Regional. Takes place in January-February. All children from grades 9-11 who are winners of the previous stage can participate.

STAGE 4. Final. Takes place in March-May. The winners of the regional stage of this year, the winners and prize-winners of the final stage of LAST year are participating.

2) School Olympiads

Unlike the All-Russian Olympiad, the school Olympiad gives fewer bonuses to schoolchildren participating in it. Firstly, it does not oblige universities to take into account its results upon admission and provide benefits upon admission. In the university admission rules, in the “accounting for additional achievements” section, there is usually a list of olympiads that will give you additional qualifications. points. Look up the admission rules and see. In other words, each university independently decides which Olympiads to take into account.

Organization of the Olympiad. The Olympics are free for participants, however, if you need to travel to another city or region to continue, no one is obliged to pay for this. They can, but they don't have to. There are cases when they paid, but it’s not a fact.

The winners receive. Money (they can receive it, but not necessarily), sometimes benefits in the form of additional benefits. points for the Unified State Exam for some Olympiads in some universities. Which Olympiads are taken into account and which are not are indicated in the admission rules of each specific university.

Usually the Olympiad takes place in several stages:

STAGE 1. Qualifying. Held from September to the end of January. Everyone is welcome to participate. You register on the Olympiad website, you receive tasks via the Internet that you complete right at home. As a result, 2/3 of the participants drop out, and those who were successful go to the 2nd stage.

STAGE 2. Final. Held from February to the end of March. Unlike the first stage, not on a computer, but in person. That is, to participate you need to be in person at the place determined by the organizers. This place may be in another region or city. You are not required to pay for the move.

How to take advantage of the Olympics?

If you have won prizes or won any of the competitions, you need to attach the relevant documents to the package of documents that you submit to the admissions committee of the selected university.

Please note that you can apply for the Olympiad only to one specialty at one university. Serve at 5, but using the Olympics as an advantage only at one.

Since the Unified State Exam became mandatory 8 years ago, the procedure for entering a university seems transparent. The graduate passes the exam (the conditions are common to all schools in the country), and the amount of points scored allows him to fairly compete with other applicants. However, even after passing the exams with an absolute score of 100 points, you may not get into a prestigious university - all the places will already be taken by those who are “out of competition”. Today we will tell you a few secrets on how to become one of those who play by different rules.

More Olympics, good and different

In those days, when the mothers of current high school students went to school, students had only one chance to show off their talents - the All-Union (and later All-Russian) Olympiad for schoolchildren. To break into one hundred of the best students in the country, confirming their knowledge in several rounds, solving more than a dozen ingenious non-standard problems... Yes, not everyone was capable of this.

However, our children have much more chances to demonstrate their exclusivity - exactly 88 times, this is exactly how many subject Olympiads are approved by Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia dated August 30, 2016 N 1118.

Introduction to Olympiad Studies

If 88 Olympiads came as a surprise to you, we explain how to use this list. First of all, pay attention to the column “Olympiad level” - there are numbers “I”, “II” and “III”. We can say that these numbers are a type of Olympiad: the first is the best, formally diplomas have the same value as those of the All-Russian Olympiad for Schoolchildren (yes, yes, the same one where “having confirmed your knowledge in several rounds, solving ingenious non-standard problems” ). Please note that Olympiads often have different levels for different subjects. For example, the All-Siberian Open Olympiad for Schoolchildren, which is held by NSU, has level I in chemistry and physics, level II in biology, mathematics and computer science.

In addition to the level of the Olympiad, it makes sense to take a closer look at the organization that hosts it. As a rule, all major universities hold their own Olympiads and are very friendly towards their winners and runners-up. NSU, as we have already mentioned, nurtures the All-Siberian Open Olympiad for Schoolchildren, which is held, of course, in Novosibirsk.

But if you like a university in the capital, then you can also test your strength close to home! For example, the Moscow State University Olympiads “Conquer the Sparrow Hills” and “Lomonosov” have a site in Barnaul every year, and the super-prestigious Higher School of Economics holds its “Highest Standard” Olympiad... in Berdsk!

Have you chosen the right Olympiads? Take the time to find their websites on the Internet. Unlike the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren, in which your teachers will take care of your participation, here you will have to act on your own. Register (some Olympiads have just opened registration, others will do this in the next few days), solve problems from previous years (of course, it’s better if the child decides for himself), clarify all organizational issues (but it’s better not to trust the child with this).

Olympics - everything is fair

A small digression: just five or six years ago, the same confusion was going on in the Olympiads as with the Unified State Exam. And if the state exam was distinguished by all sorts of scandals associated with the “leaking” of assignments, “excellent” regions, where the number of 100-point students exceeded the limits of human capabilities, then the Olympiads were distinguished by the publication of a list of approved competitions at the end of May. Suddenly, the student learned that the Olympiad he won was not included in the list of the Ministry of Education and Science, or, for example, had the third, not the first level. It's unpleasant, isn't it? In addition, the question of corruption at the Olympics arose; Unlike the Unified State Exam, the Olympiad is a behind-the-scenes affair, and organizing a victory for the “right” student is theoretically much easier than for him to get 100 points on the Unified State Exam.

It's not like that anymore! We haven’t heard about “leaking” assignments for a couple of years now; every 100-point student is studied almost with a magnifying glass.

Here we should note that although all universities have already updated their admission rules, many have not yet approved the list of Olympiads that will allow them to count on benefits. And this is a very important point, since it is in this matter that the university is free to make an independent decision - which Olympiads are taken into account, which are not, and if taken into account, what benefits to provide.

Which Olympics to choose?

The situation is more or less clear only with the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren - it is recognized by all universities, the winners and prize-winners of the final stage are guaranteed admission outside the competition in the Olympiad profile (i.e. the winner of the Olympiad in physics is expected at the physics department).

This year's innovation is that now the diplomas of the winners and prize-winners of the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren are valid for four years! If you don’t want to enroll this year, enroll next year, your benefits will remain.

In relation to other school competitions, universities, as a rule, provide the same benefits to the winners of Olympiads of equal level. For example, they accept all first-level Olympiad winners out of competition into the mathematics department, and it doesn’t matter whether it was Interregional Olympiad for schoolchildren in mathematics and cryptography, "Conquer the Sparrow Hills" or let's say "Tournament of Cities", conducted throughout the country by the Moscow Department of Education.

However, there are some subtleties here too, which are best learned from the university admissions office; for example, the Higher School of Economics previously recognized only the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren and its own, snobbishly dismissing the Olympiads of Moscow State University and St. Petersburg State University - they say, who knows what tasks they came up with there, whether they were too simple and banal.

And remember that it’s never too early to participate in Olympiads - some universities are ready to work even with seventh-graders! We asked the NSU admissions committee whether it was important in which class the child won the Olympiad. It turns out that they are ready to take into account the victories of tenth-graders in the All-Russian Olympiad for Schoolchildren, although only graduates will be able to benefit from victories in other competitions.

But we remind you that it is better to find out all the details from the admissions office of the universities to which you intend to apply. Don't hesitate to call, admissions committees are already working!

What will winning the school Olympiad give an applicant?

Admission is out of competition. Check which level of Olympiads and in which subjects offer this benefit, and also keep in mind that the result must be confirmed by a high score in the profile Unified State Examination. An additional bonus: how exactly you pass other exams is no longer important. Moreover, if your core subject is mathematics or Russian, you can only take these two mandatory Unified State Examinations, although everyone else requires three exams for admission!

100 points in a core subject. This is also a good benefit, although not as pleasant as admission without competition. Usually given either if the subject does not correspond to the profile, or if the level of the Olympiad or diploma is low.

Several points (up to 10) for “individual achievements”- this is the case if you were unable to confirm your success with a high Unified State Exam score. Sometimes a few points make all the difference!

For example, let's give last year's lists of benefits for admission to NSU.

Prepared by Irina Ilyina

The benefits of Olympiads for schoolchildren are real help when entering universities throughout the Russian Federation. It is only necessary that the subject competition be included in the List of Olympiads approved by the Ministry of Education. The Olympiads are divided into different levels and provide the opportunity to obtain diplomas of three degrees. This determines what benefits the applicant can count on.

The end of the 2017 winter holidays is marked by the opening of regional competitions of the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren, which starts throughout the country starting on January 11. First of all, young talents will demonstrate their success in studying the French language and literature.

This time, the organizers tried to spread the dates of the Olympiads in various scientific disciplines as far apart as possible. This was done in order to give the children the opportunity to take part in all competitions where they would like to prove themselves.

As you know, the All-Russian Olympiad for secondary school students is the most ambitious competition that has been taking place in Russia for more than fifty years. Winners and prize-winners of the Olympiad are given advantages when entering any institution of higher education in Russia. These students form teams that take part in international competitions in school subjects.

Every year, schoolchildren’s interest in subject competitions is growing, participation in which is very prestigious not only because it gives additional bonuses to applicants upon admission. The tasks for the All-Russian Olympiad are prepared in such a way that in order to complete them, in-depth knowledge of the subject is not enough; the ability to find original and beautiful solutions, and the ability to look at the problem outside the box are required.

One of the important changes in the conduct of the Olympiads was the procedure for publicly announcing the results of the competitions. Previously, they were made publicly available immediately after the end of each specific Olympiad. Now the first results will be announced on February 6, the subsequent ones on February 20. The results of the last competitions will be announced on March 4.

The All-Russian Olympiad has grown by as many as three school subjects: foreign languages have been added, in particular Chinese.

In many regions, it was noted that the largest number of participants registered for competitions in social studies, traditionally in the Russian language, as well as biology, history and law. The smallest teams registered for competitions in ecology, astronomy, French and Chinese.

The All-Russian Olympiad 2017 will end in the spring, as usual at the sites of various cities of our country.

And those guys who did not manage to be included in the regional rounds of the All-Russian Olympiad do not have to be discouraged. They can take part in other subject competitions of varying degrees of prestige.

The list of Olympiads for schoolchildren, which provide benefits for admission to universities, is published annually on the website of the Ministry of Education and Science. Moreover, many believe that winning an Olympiad is easier than, for example, getting a hundred points on a specialized Unified State Examination in mathematics. If you now get 60 points or more on the Unified State Examination tests, then you may well achieve a prize in one of the Olympiads. Just carefully study the status of the competitions: not all of them provide advantages when entering universities.

The benefits that can be received for successful participation in Olympiads have two categories. The first is enrollment without competition, without looking at your Unified State Exam scores. The second category is the award of 100 points for a specialized subject.

Olympiads from the list approved by the Ministry of Education are divided into three levels, according to which different universities provide different benefits. Level 1 competitions are the Moscow “Conquer the Sparrow Hills”, “Lomonosov”, the St. Petersburg Olympiad held by St. Petersburg State University, and others. At all Olympiads, schoolchildren have a chance to receive diplomas of three degrees, except for St. Petersburg State University, there are only two degrees of diplomas.

The benefits that come with winning the Olympics are not tied to a specific competition. For example, the National Research University Higher School of Economics does not have the right to accept winners of its own “Highest Standard” Olympiad without exams. The selection committee is obliged to count equivalent diplomas from other competitions from the List of the Ministry of Education and Science.

To enter the Higher School of Economics without competition, you need a 1-2 degree diploma from any of the 1st level Olympiads from the approved list (naturally, in a core subject). With a 3rd degree diploma in 1st level subject competitions, you can count on 100 points for the Unified State Examination, instead of the results that you actually achieved in the exam. If the Olympiad is level 2, then for the first two degrees of diplomas they give 100 points for the state exam in the corresponding discipline. You will not be able to enter outside the competition for winning the Level 2 Olympiad.

If you win a second-level Olympiad, and your university provides benefits exclusively to the winners of level 1 competitions, then, alas, you will not be given a benefit. What is the right thing to do? At the end of May, universities are required to publish detailed information on their websites about what benefits applicants who have certain achievements and Olympiad diplomas can count on.

Study this information carefully, do not miss your chance to become a happy student at a prestigious university!
