Cities, resorts and regions of Italy on the map and alphabetically

The first thing you should know is that Italy is very big and very different. The South is completely different from the North, and the mainland is completely different from the islands. Therefore, read useful and brief reviews about all provinces and regions of Italy: regions and islands, South, Center and North of Italy.

Cities of history

The “Eternal City” and the absolute center of Italian history, Rome is a must-see for all lovers of bygone times. The number of Roman attractions is so great that in order to somehow facilitate perception, they are usually divided into broad groups of different historical periods: ancient, Byzantine, medieval, etc. The Vatican with its St. Peter's Basilica and the residence of the Pope makes a significant contribution.

An abundance of ancient ruins is located in the vicinity of southern Salerno - there are three famous archaeological parks here: Pompeii, Paestum and Positano. You can walk along the ancient streets and get acquainted in detail with the structure of ancient cities - from the capitol and forum to the brothel and public toilets. Bonus - the most beautiful mosaics, which to this day have not lost their vivid colors.

Known even from school history textbooks, Syracuse is a significant center of the ancient Greek world and the associated variety of architectural monuments. Visit numerous ancient fortified palaces and admire the greatness of the ancient Greeks in the Neapolis Archaeological Park.

Sweet Naples, soaring measuredly in a trembling haze of heat, leisureliness and contentment with life, is the birthplace of no less sweet Neapolitan songs, as well as the now pan-Italian pizza.

Beaches of Italy

There are almost equal numbers of picturesque rocky and gentle sandy beaches in Italy, and any sun worshiper can find a place to their liking here. Italian beaches are for the most part well (and in some cases simply wonderful) well maintained, equipped with umbrellas, sun loungers and other accessories necessary for a comfortable stay at the water's edge. As a rule, these very amenities are paid, but this is only beneficial for the beaches (and the tourists themselves): this way the number of splashing people is limited - if all the umbrellas and sunbeds are occupied, you need to look for another beach. In addition, the beaches of each region of the country have their own pleasant characteristics. For example, the Venetian Riviera is famous for its wonderful fine dolomite sand, in Sorrento you can dive into a marine reserve and travel through underwater caves, on the Ligurian coast there is a picturesque rugged coastline, and the beaches of the Tuscan Riviera, in addition to the ideal sea and a high level of relaxation, offer stormy nights entertainment, often without going far from the surf line. And of course, the proximity of historical monuments, architecture and art pleasantly dilutes the idle lying on the shore.

Thermal resorts in Italy- 5 different springs with water temperatures up to +34 °C, suitable for drinking, mineral baths and mud therapy.

  • Chianciano Terme - cold and hot mineral springs with increased “armor-piercing” properties, the waters of which can relieve a whole range of diseases.
  • Fiuggi - unique mineral waters that dissolve and remove kidney stones.
  • Previous photo 1/ 1 Next photo

What attracted me to this hotel were the excellent reviews on all booking sites without exception, the fresh modern design, the location near the beach and the thermal baths of Grado (yes, there are thermal springs in the city!). You can stay in one or two bedroom apartments; in any case, they will be equipped with everything necessary for a long stay, including a washing machine.

    2. Moneglia, Liguria

    Photo from here

Moneglia, whose beach also has a blue flag for its cleanliness, is located between Genoa and the Cinque Terre and can be a convenient point for exploring the area. In one direction - luxurious Portofino, a little further - controversial Genoa, in the other - the absolute Italian must see Cinve Terre, five towns clinging to the rocks. The coast here is rocky and is said to be excellent for diving.

I would go to Moneglia just for this hotel! Judge for yourself: a former monastery built in the 15th century, antique furniture, the opportunity to use the swimming pool and restaurant of a nearby hotel, tasting local products and wine. I really love places where the owners try to somehow distinguish themselves from their neighbors and put soul into the establishment, and not just put beds and TVs in the rooms.

    3. Monopoli, Apulia

I almost went on vacation to Monopoli, a small town located between Bari and Lecce, two years ago. Just imagine: an absolutely white city with only yellow bell towers visible here and there, a sandy beach, which is a two-minute walk away, a clear sea. Nearby are kilometers of deserted coastline with bays that can be reached by car, an hour's drive away - Bari with the relics of St. Nicholas and Lecce, Florence of the south. My friend, the same one, vacationed in this region a couple of years ago and was completely delighted! You can trust her - in Italy, in my opinion, she was everywhere.

Everything in this hotel is done the way I like it! Design in light colors, sea views, many cozy corners where you can relax in the fresh air, a swimming pool to swim in the morning, fresh and high-quality renovation. You can rent a room, or you can rent a suite with a balcony overhanging the sea. In any case, you will see few people because the hotel is small. Romantic, right?

    4. Alba Adriatica, Abruzzo

There are not many resorts in Italy with long sandy beaches and gentle entry into the water. One of them is Rimini, but you yourself know everything about it. Another one is Alba Adriatica, in Abruzzo. I came across this resort when I was looking for a place to relax with my dad: walking distance to the beach, comfortable access to the water, convenient transport accessibility from the airport (in this case, Rome), no hills to climb, a variety of restaurants and shops. If you are looking for a holiday with children, Alba Adriatica may be perfect for you.

The hotel is located a 5-minute walk from the beach, occupies a separate building. Inside there is a very fresh renovation, apartments with 1 and 2 bedrooms (the second is very rare!), the price of which includes umbrellas and sun loungers on the city sandy beach. Each apartment has a fully equipped kitchen for those who like to cook on vacation, wireless Internet access, air conditioning in every room, new plumbing, and TVs.

    5. Marotta di Fano, Marche

Marotta di Fano is a town on the Adriatic coast of Italy, located between Rimini and Ancona. It is easy to get here through Bologna airport (where tickets, by the way, are always cheaper than to Rome and Milan). The beach here is sandy, with convenient access to the water. If you go to these parts, I beg you, don’t miss the magnificent medieval and green hills of the Marche region!

From the hotel it is just a few steps to the beach. The hotel itself has a lot of light and air, a swimming pool, very modern interior and furnishings, and a good restaurant, judging by the reviews. On booking sites, the hotel's customers highly praise the staff, the cleanliness and furnishings of the rooms and the excellent value for money.

    6. Elba Island, Tuscany

Yes, yes, this is the same island where Napoleon Bonaparte spent his days! Elba is located between Italy and French Corsica and is part of a national park. This means that the climate here is mild, the landscapes are varied, the beaches are comfortable, and the water is clean. Among the vacationers are mainly Swiss and German tourists of advanced age, which means there are a lot of routes for hiking and trekking, peace and quiet.

This hotel is for situations when you want to lie down, do nothing and not go anywhere. Everything is nearby here - a swimming pool with a sun terrace, a sandy beach with sun loungers and umbrellas, a restaurant, a spa center, the center of Portoferraio, the main city of the island. Those who are too lazy to go even for dinner can take half board at the hotel and spend their holiday in a horizontal position, although I would still ride around the Elbe Mountains.

    7. Palinuro, Campania

You will drive here for a long time and along winding roads, but you will come to ringing silence, the sea and beaches awarded the blue flag, small bays and stunning sunsets and sunrises. Those who are not too lazy can make Palinuro the final point of a journey along the Campania coast, which must begin in, continue in, make a detour in and ultimately end in this inaccessible branch of paradise.

What I liked most about this hotel was the terrace of the deluxe room, which you see in the photo. Behind the sliding doors is a hot tub, and beyond is a well-furnished room with all modern amenities. However, all rooms have terraces or balconies and most of them look directly at the sea. The beach is very close, but for the lazy and those who like to swim from side to side there is a pool with sea water. The hotel also features a small spa.

    8. Santa Maria del Focallo, Sicily

I am absolutely convinced that you will not understand why Italy is like this. Sicily is a completely separate Italy, Italy in the absolute, an island literally stuffed with incredible landscapes, archaeological and historical values, an island where the most delicious food in Italy, the most delicious chocolate, the most delicious ice cream, the most tart wine and the most delicious seafood! Santa Maria del Focallo is a place on the southern coast of Sicily, close to Ragusa, Noto and Modica, the must-see places on the island. The beach has a blue flag and the winds are quite strong, making Santa Maria del Focallo one of the best places in Italy for kitesurfing.

I warn you right away: to relax here you definitely need a car, because... The hotel is located not on the beach, but in the depths of the island. However, without a car, as my personal experience has shown, in Sicily it is generally very difficult. The hotel is located in a UNESCO protected area, occupies an ancient but beautifully restored building, surrounded by greenery. The rooms are larger in size, you can drink wine on your own terraces, or relax by the pool with or without a book. The hotel will be happy to provide umbrellas and sun loungers on the beach in Pozzallo.

    9. Ischia Island, Campania

Ischia, of course, can hardly be called a little-known resort, but the mild climate, the proximity of Naples and Capri, which I am in love with, as well as the presence of thermal parks, made me include it on this list. I seriously considered Ischia as an option for a holiday in early May with my parents, but then I realized that I would probably go there in September alone with my husband. Here you can do everything that people usually do at a resort: wear white trousers, go on a yacht, ride a convertible, drink wine. Ischia, in a word, is a holiday with a dolce vita taste, forgive me for this hackneyed expression.

I’m even a little sorry to share this place, it’s so beautiful! This small hotel, entirely nautical in style, is a 10-minute walk from the center of Ischia Porto, the island's liveliest town, and the port itself, from where you can sail to Naples, Capri or Procida. The hotel has its own small beach. The rooms are furnished with love and great taste, and the owners, who even speak Russian, are ready to help their guests in every possible way in organizing their vacation.

    10. La Maddalena, Sardinia

The small island of La Maddalena is located 10 minutes by boat from the northeast coast of Sardinia. The most convenient way to get here is to fly to Olbia airport. La Maddalena, like the whole of Sardinia as a whole, is a place intended largely for a luxurious and secluded holiday.

This hotel is another contender for my September vacation with my husband. This is a five-star resort with a spa, several restaurants and its own yachts. Those interested will be able to scuba dive or snorkel, sail a yacht along the coast, explore the island itself and the island of Sardinia. I would divide a two-week vacation in Sardinia into 2 parts: one spent in this hotel, the second in Sardinia itself, in the depths of the island.

Where to relax in Italy by the sea

The country is divided into several recreation areas. Some resorts are located on the mainland, while others are on islands. Most Italian beaches are well equipped. In addition to sunbathing and swimming, diving, yachting, windsurfing, sea fishing, shopping, as well as trips to interesting places and other cities are popular among vacationers.

The lowest prices for seaside holidays in Italy can be found on the Adriatic coast. For families with children We recommend Riccione, Rimini, Bellaria and the “heel” of the Apennine Peninsula - Puglia.

Excursion tourism good in places with easy access to the historical centers of the country or the world fashion center of Milan. From the Ligurian Riviera, popular trips are to Monte Carlo and Monaco, from Rimini to Rome and Venice.

Where to relax in Italy by the sea elderly tourists? Pensioners choose quiet resorts without nightlife. These requirements are best met by the Sicilian Taormina, Cefalu and the seaside town of Finale Ligure. Those who want to improve their health go to the island of Ischia.

When to go on a seaside holiday in Italy

The northern regions of Italy are in the continental climate zone, and the southern regions are in the Mediterranean climate zone. The full season of seaside holidays in Italy starts in June and lasts until October.

If you are planning a lot of excursions, it is better to choose a time that is not too hot. At the beginning of summer, in September and the first half of October, the air temperature is +24...+27°C, and the sea water is +20...+22°C. These months are ideal for active excursion trips and family holidays with kids.

In July and August the real heat sets in. During the day the air warms up to +30...+35°С, and the sea to +26°С. This climate is difficult for elderly tourists and anyone with health problems to withstand.

In autumn it gets colder on the mainland faster. On the islands of Italy, the sea remains warm for a long time, and you can fully relax. In the low season from late autumn to mid-spring, lovers of excursion tourism and those who want to heal at mineral springs come to the coastal resorts of Italy.

Just look at the map to understand: there are more than enough beach resorts in Italy. Wherever you find yourself, no matter what region of Italy you come to, the sea is always nearby. Even from the alpine slopes you can reach the coast in just 3–4 hours.

It should also be noted that the seaside resorts of Italy are extremely diverse. In Italy there are wide sandy beaches, and secluded bays with pebbly shores, and beaches with a gentle entrance to the sea, and places where the depth begins at the very shore. In short, the choice is extensive - there is a lot to talk about. This is, in fact, what we will do.

However, before we proceed directly, we will make a few reservations (to make it easier for you to navigate, since the text is voluminous).

The review of Italian beach resorts presented in this article is structured as follows. The focus is on popular Italian cities (or rather, airports), where it is not difficult to reach from anywhere in the world, including from Russia (read more about air travel with Italy).

Focusing on these cities/airports, we consider nearby resorts that seem to us the most interesting both in terms of quality and in terms of transport accessibility. (Most of the beach resorts discussed below can be reached by rail - see www.trenitalia.com.) It is not our intention to list all available options, however. If you like any of the areas listed below, then you can (and even need to!) go deeper into the topic - you will find many interesting places that we have not mentioned here.

So, in this review you will find information about resorts located near the following cities:

The beach resorts of Calabria and Puglia will also be briefly reviewed. Outside the scope of this article are the large Italian islands - Sardinia and Sicily ( beaches of Sicily discussed in detail) – since they require special attention.

As you can see, the order of consideration is from north to south, that is, from top to bottom on the map. It seems logical :) However, this order is also determined by the fact that getting to the north of Italy is easier, faster and usually cheaper than getting to the south. However, northern resorts are usually more expensive than southern ones. (Although, as you know, there are no rules without exceptions.)

Finally, it is worth saying that everything stated below is aimed primarily at independent travelers. If you are interested in standard tours, we advise you to turn to sites such as and where you can find and buy these same tours online. However, it is quite possible that you will find something useful for yourself here too.

This is where we can conclude the introductory part. Let's move on to the review.

Where to go to the sea in Italy, and how to get to the best beaches

So, Italy, sea, relaxation, beaches. Go!

Generally speaking, Venice itself can be considered as a beach resort, since there is an island Lido di Venezia(Lido di Venezia), famous for its long sandy beach. You can get here by water directly from Venice airport (sail a little over an hour; see www.alilaguna.it). The undoubted advantage of the Lido is that all Venetian attractions are nearby - for example, St. Mark's Square can be reached in just 15 minutes. Thus, it is quite possible to combine a beach holiday with walks around Venice. Read more about this option in the article “Beaches of Venice”.

Another variant - Lido di Jesolo(Lido di Jesolo). This resort is located east of Venice and has an equally sandy and even longer beach. It is again not far from Venice airport - about 40 minutes by ATVO bus (see www.atvo.it).

Even further east you can find places like Eraclea Mare(Eraclea Mare), Caorle(Caorle) And Bibione(Bibione), which is also quite easy to get to by ATVO buses.

South of Venice is the pretty town of Chioggia with its adjacent resort Sottomarina(Sottomarina). The beaches here are also sandy, and the infrastructure is well developed, but getting there by public transport is not as convenient and fast as to the above-mentioned resorts. In this case (especially if you are going on vacation with small children), it makes sense to order a transfer (see) or rent a car, since this can be done directly at the airport (see www.rentalcars.com, www.economybookings.com and similar sites).

By the way, all these resorts can be reached not only through Venice airport (Aeroporto di Venezia Marco Polo, VCE), but also through the nearby Treviso airport (Aeroporto di Treviso Antonio Canova, TSF), as well as through Verona airport (Aeroporto di Verona Valerio Catullo, VRN). However, it’s worth saying a few words separately about Verona.

    • Venice. General information + Beaches of Venice

Getting to the beach resorts of Italy via Verona is probably not the best idea (unless cheap tickets turn up - see www.skyscanner.ru, www.momondo.ru, www.aviasales.ru and other air ticket search engines). However, one cannot help but notice that from Verona it is a stone's throw to Lake Garda (Lago di Garda), where there are also beaches. It is clear that a beach holiday on the shore of an alpine lake is not at all the same as a holiday at sea. However, this opportunity should not be overlooked. Moreover, Garda is interesting not only as a beach resort, but also as a thermal resort. From this point of view, it is worth taking a closer look in particular at Sirmione(Sirmione).

However, let's return to the seaside resorts and pay attention to the next point. Verona may be interesting as a transit point on the way to the beach resorts of the Adriatic if you plan to travel to Italy by train (read more about the train service between Russia and Italy).

Again, like Verona, Milan boasts its proximity to lakes. In addition to Garda, it is worth mentioning at least two more lakes - Como(Lago di Como) And Maggiore(Lago Maggiore), – where you can also find beaches.

    • General information: about Milan, about Bergamo
    • Flights: to Milan and Bergamo
    • Transfers: ,
    • Car rental points: in Malpensa, at Bergamo airport

Genoa, as already mentioned, is located on the shores of the Ligurian Sea, and the most convenient way to get to the beach resorts of Liguria is not through Milan, but through Genoa. In addition, from Russia to Genoa you can not only fly non-stop, but also take a direct train. There are a huge number of options: Liguria has both sandy and pebble beaches.

To the west of Genoa, for example, there are Sanremo(San Remo), Diano Marina(Diano Marina), Alassio(Alassio), Pietra Ligure(Pietra Ligure) And Finale Ligure(Finale Ligure). The beaches in the western part of Liguria are quite wide, long, often sandy, although pebbles are not uncommon. All these places are not so far from Genoa, but if you wish, you can find beaches closer: for example, in Arenzano(Arenzano)– here the beach is pebbly – or in Kogoleto(Cogoleto)– the beaches are partly sandy, partly pebble.

There are also many interesting places east of Genoa. For the most part, the beaches of eastern Liguria are pebbly and do not differ in length (probably with the exception of the beach in Lavagna, Lavagna). But the water here is clean and the places are picturesque. Attention should be paid, for example, to Sorry(Sori) And Camogli(Camogli)– both places are located near Genoa. A little further is located Santa Margherita Ligure(Santa Margherita Ligure). Even further - Sestri Levante(Sestri Levante); By the way, there is a beautiful sandy beach here. The further you go, the rockier the terrain becomes, but there are also places for swimming. There are beaches even in the Cinque Terre. The most interesting ones are in Monterosso al Mare(Monterosso al Mare): there are both sandy and pebble (more details).

All of the listed resorts in Liguria are accessible by rail. Genoa Airport (Aeroporto di Genova Cristoforo Colombo, GOA), in turn, has convenient connections with the Sestri Ponente train station (Genova Sestri Ponente Aeroporto).

A detailed overview of the beach resorts of the Ligurian coast is presented in this article.

Let's return to the shore of the Adriatic Sea, where, in addition to the resorts discussed, there is a well-known Rimini(Rimini). Wide sandy beaches, calm seas and an excellently developed tourist infrastructure - all this attracts a huge number of beach lovers to Rimini and its surroundings. There is a place here for families with children, and for noisy young people, and for older tourists (read more about hotels and areas of Rimini). In addition, this is a favorite destination of Russian tour operators. Therefore, before thinking about an independent trip to Rimini, you should carefully study the offers of travel agencies (you can look at the same and). There is a high probability that buying a tour to Rimini will be cheaper than organizing a vacation yourself.

Conveniently, Rimini has its own international airport (Aeroporto di Rimini Federico Fellini, RMI), from where you can even walk to some hotels (see, for example, Hotel Ascot). In addition, it is convenient to get to Rimini through Bologna Airport (Aeroporto di Bologna Guglielmo Marconi, BLQ).

At the same time, it is absolutely not necessary to limit yourself to Rimini and its immediate surroundings. If you like the Adriatic, but you are not attracted to either Rimini or Riccione(Riccione), nor Cattolica(Cattolica), nor Milano Marittima(Milano Marittima), then it’s worth taking a closer look at those located further south Pesaro(Pesaro), Fano(Fano) And Senigallia(Senigallia). Here there are the same wide sandy beaches and a smooth entrance to the sea. These resorts are also conveniently accessible via Rimini Airport. It is also worth keeping in mind Ancona Airport (Aeroporto delle Marche, AOI).

North of Rimini you can pay attention to such places as Lido Adriano(Lido Adriano) And Punta Marina(Punta Marina), which is not far from Ravenna.

    • General information: about Rimini, about Bologna
    • Flights: to Rimini, to Bologna
    • Transfers: ,
    • Car rental points: at Rimini airport, at Bologna airport

Pisa is perfect as a transit point on the way to the spacious sandy beaches of the so-called Tuscan Riviera (aka Versilia). In particular, from Pisa Airport (Aeroporto di Pisa Galileo Galilei, PSA), in just over an hour you can take a bus (for more details, see www.pisa-airport.com) to such popular seaside resorts as Viareggio(Viareggio) And Lido di Camaiore(Lido di Camaiore). Nearby also Forte dei Marmi(Forte dei Marmi), Marina di Massa(Marina di Massa) And Marina di Carrara(Marina di Carrara).

Eastern Liguria with its cozy beaches, picturesque bays and other natural beauties, by and large, is also not far away, and if you are interested in this particular region, then Pisa is worth keeping in mind as an alternative to the considered Genoa.

Also, look south from Pisa. There are many interesting places: for example, Marina di Cecina(Marina di Cecina), San Vincenzo(San Vincenzo) And Follonica(Follonica). These are fairly calm resorts, perfect for families with children.

Separately, it is worth mentioning about the island Elbe(Elba), where you can find beaches for every taste: sandy, pebble, and rocky. Elba, by the way, has its own small airport (Aeroporto dell "Elba). You can fly here from Pisa (see www.silverairitalia.it) and some other cities. A more traditional way to get to Elba is by ferry from Piombino, You can get to Piombino by train.

For more information about beach resorts in Tuscany, check out this article. By the way, all of the above places can also be reached through Florence (Aeroporto di Firenze-Peretola, FLR). However, Pisa is closer and flying to Pisa (at least from Russia) is more convenient and cheaper than flying to Florence.

    • General information: about Pisa, about Florence
    • Flights: to Pisa, to Florence
    • Transfers: ,
    • Car rental points: at Pisa airport, at Florence airport

The outskirts of Rome are also not deprived of beach resorts (the beaches here are often sandy). For example, literally a few minutes drive from Rome Fiumicino Airport (Aeroporto di Roma–Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci, FCO) there is a resort town Lido di Ostia(Lido di Ostia). From a logistics point of view, you can’t think of anything better (you can get here from the airport by Cotral bus), but from a quality point of view, there are much more interesting options.

If you focus on the immediate surroundings of the Italian capital, then you should pay attention to Anzio(Anzio) And Nettuno(Nettuno). It is convenient to get to these resorts from Rome by rail - the ride takes about an hour.

But perhaps the most interesting beach resorts are located further south. This is, first of all, San Felice Circeo(San Felice Circeo), Terracina(Terracina), Sperlonga(Sperlonga) And Gaeta(Gaeta). True, getting to these places by public transport is not as convenient as getting to Anzio and Nettuno. Therefore, in addition, let us also mention Formia(Formia): There are beaches here and you can get there from Rome by direct train. In addition, from the Formia railway station you can easily take a taxi or bus to the same Gaeta - the ride is about 15 minutes.

Concerning Sorrento(Sorrento), then directly in the city there are almost no beaches as such. One of the few lucky exceptions is the La Tonnarella hotel with access to a small private beach (small pebbles). However, it is convenient to get to Sorrento from Naples (for example, by train on the Circumvesuviana railway - see www.eavsrl.it). From the point of view of a beach holiday in Sorrento, it makes sense to focus on places such as Meta(Meta) And Marina di Puolo(Marina di Puolo).

On the Amalfi Coast, the situation with beaches is better - you can swim and sunbathe like in the ones mentioned Amalfi(Amalfi) And Positano(Positano), and in other towns - Praiano(Praiano), Majori(Maiori), Minori(Minori) etc. The beaches here are pebbly, small and very picturesque. From Naples to Amalfitana you can travel by bus (see www.sitasudtrasporti.it) directly or with a transfer to Salerno (first by rail, and then again by bus).

South of Salerno you can pay attention to Paestum(Paestum), Agropolis(Agropoli) And Marina di Asceia(Marina di Ascea). The beaches here are sandy, prices are reasonable, but the resort infrastructure is often (in Asheya, for example) not very well developed. But it’s convenient to get to from Naples – an hour and a half ride by rail. Not so convenient to get to places like Santa Maria di Castellabate(Santa Maria di Castellabate) And Cape Palinuro(Capo Palinuro). However, they also deserve mention, and if you travel by car, take a special look at them.

One of the most interesting places in the vicinity of Naples from the point of view of a beach holiday is the island Ischia(Ischia). There are many beaches in Ischia, and in addition to them there are thermal springs. You can get there by ferry.

It is worth bearing in mind in particular airport Lamezia Terme(Aeroporto di Lamezia Terme, SUF). To the north of it there is, for example, Amantea(Amantea), and to the south - Tropea(Tropea) with their wonderful sandy beaches. This is Calabria - the region is far from the richest, but the sea and beaches here are excellent. It is worth noting that many resorts in Calabria, including Amantea and Tropea, can be easily reached by rail from Naples or even from Rome (although the journey, of course, is not close and quite long). Another airport in Calabria is located in Reggio Calabria(Reggio Calabria, Aeroporto dello Stretto, REG). Nearby we note such a resort as Shilla(Scilla).

Don't overlook Puglia either. You can focus on the region here Salento(Salento)– “the heel of Italy” – in general, and places like Galipoli(Galipoli), Otranto(Otranto) and their immediate surroundings in particular. The region is also of interest Gargano(Gargano)- “spur of the Italian boot.” And even in Bari(Bari) And Brindisi(Brindisi), where the main local airports are located (Aeroporto di Bari-Palese, BRI, and Aeroporto di Brindisi-Casale, BDS), you can find places for a beach holiday.

    Saluto! Holidays in graceful Italy

It is impossible to tell about Italy in a few lines. In a few paragraphs. Even in several thousand books. The culture of this country is so rich that even an eternity would hardly be enough to remember all the names and events.

The most pleasant and surprising thing is that the mighty heritage of Italy has very successfully “coexisted” with the most modern recreation. Wherever you go and whatever you do in Italy, you will always be enveloped in the atmosphere of a truly great country. Even a simple trip for morning coffee will become a real journey through the depths and heights of history.

Italy is a cultural infinity of infinities. Even if you have looked at the Sistine Chapel thousands of times, walked around Naples and filled your album with sketches of Etna, each new visit will still be a unique adventure that you will experience for the very, very first time.

Bellissimo! We select an interesting tour to Italy

Italian summer is the time to travel to the beaches of the Mediterranean. Sea water warms up to an average of 25 degrees, and the air temperature stays around 40-45. In a word, a real, sultry, sparkling and absolutely beach summer awaits you with open sunny arms. The most popular resorts in Italy usually include Rimini, Lido di Jesolo, Sicily and Capri.

Be sure to check out Amalfi, a seaside town in the south of the country. The romantic charm of this place is akin to the majestic grace of Florence and Venice. But Amalfi has a certain natural monumentality - this stunningly beautiful city is located on a huge rock and seems to run away somewhere upward. The night view of Amalfi is a spectacle that breaks all imaginable beauty records.

At the end of December, a holiday for ski lovers begins in Italy - the Italian winter season. Ski trips to Italy are so popular that they begin to be booked as early as May-June, and sometimes earlier. Popular winter resorts are well known to all skiers: Val Gardena, Avoriaz, South Tyrol, the Dolomites.

But the excursion list of Italy can be expanded endlessly. Each great city on this list is a little Italy, which you can study (without exaggeration!) for years. Eternal Rome, Florence, Venice, Naples, Milan, Verona, Turin... Before visiting any of these cities, we advise you to gain strength, because you will be surprised a lot. So many.

Run through the Colosseum breathing with power, visit Dante’s house-museum in Florence, take a photo in stunning Venice, “catch” the falling Leaning Tower of Pisa and see Etna with your own eyes - even such a small list of things to do will give you millions and billions of vivid impressions. There’s no need to even talk about photographs, because you won’t be parted with your camera even for a second.

Well, what could be better than refreshing yourself with delicious pizza while traveling? In local pizzerias and cafes they will prepare it for you with special diligence and according to old recipes. As you know, the first pizza was “born” in Naples. Why not try it there, in its historical homeland? Well, then move on to large-scale tasting of various types of pasta and risotto.

Grandioso! Traveling to the most unusual places

Italy will appeal not only to connoisseurs of fine arts, but also to ardent adventure seekers. Are you ready for something new? Stroll through the town of Sassi di Matera, sometimes referred to as the "cave town". Its mysterious streets mystically turn into deep passages and inconspicuous dungeons. An ideal place to feel like a brave hero of a mystical detective.

On the island of Capri you will have an excursion to the Blue Grotto. The light penetrating its small caves colors the water in amazing blue and azure shades. The beauty of this natural miracle amazed the Roman emperors, for whom the grotto often served as a bathhouse. You just have to wait: there are always an incredibly large number of people who want to visit the grotto, but several people in small boats are allowed into the grotto.

Miracles in Italy are found at almost every turn. Especially if you are walking around Rome. In Piazza Navona you will be greeted by the amazing Fountain of the Four Rivers, decorated with powerful sculptures of spirits and gods. There are a lot of famous fountains in the city: just look at the Fountain of Turtles, the grandiose Trevi, the unusual Barcaccia and the Fountain of Books!

After photographing the fountains, visit the Orange Garden on the Aventine (one of Rome's seven famous hills), admire the unusual square Colosseum, and take a walking tour of famous temples and cathedrals. And in Rome there is... Cat Sanctuary! This is a special museum, which is home to a huge number of furry residents of the capital.

Italy surprises with its contrasts. Here you are walking along the streets of the city of lovers - Venice, now you are looking at the Column of Marcus Aurelius in Rome, now you are relaxing in Florence's Boboli Gardens, inspired by the power of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore... And suddenly you find yourself on an excursion to the eerie Garden of Prisoners! In fact, this is no longer a garden, but a kind of museum where ashen “statues” of eyewitnesses of the eruption of Vesuvius are kept.

Every city in Italy contains thousands of mysteries, architectural masterpieces and amazing places that you will want to tell your friends about day and night. It’s simply impossible to see everything at once, but “capturing” the mandatory minimum is quite possible. Choose profitable excursion tours to Italy from TUI - and you will see the main legends of Italy with your own eyes.

Piedmont is an amazing region: in such a small region there are 56 parks and reserves, 3/4 of the territory is occupied by mountains, it is here that one of the most beautiful Italian Lakes Maggiore is located, and all this is complemented by ancient castles, monasteries and churches. By the way, it was on the shores of Lake Maggiore, inspired by the stunning Piedmontese landscapes, that he wrote Ernest Hemingway "A Farewell to Arms"
