1 I offer 10 arguments for an essay on the topic: “Reason and Feelings” 1. “The Tale of Igor’s Campaign” 2. A.S. Pushkin “Eugene Onegin” 3. L.N. Tolstoy “War and Peace” 4. I.S. Turgenev “Asya” 5. A.N. Ostrovsky “Dowry” 6. A.I. Kuprin “Olesya” 7. A.P. Chekhov “Lady with a Dog” 8. I.A. Bunin “Dark Alleys” 9. V. Rasputin “Live and Remember” 10. M.A. Bulgakov “The Master and Margarita” Works Arguments “The Tale of Igor’s Campaign” The main character of “The Tale” is Prince Igor Novgorod-Seversky. He is a brave, courageous warrior, a patriot of his country. Brothers and squad! Better to be killed by swords. What am I full of from the hands of the filthy! His cousin Svyatoslav, who ruled in Kyiv, in 1184 defeated the Cumans, the enemies of Rus', the nomads. Igor was unable to participate in the campaign. He decided to undertake a new campaign in 1185. There was no need for it; the Polovtsians did not attack Rus' after the victory of Svyatoslav. However, the desire for glory and selfishness led to Igor opposing the Polovtsians. Nature seemed to warn the hero about the failures that would haunt the prince; a solar eclipse occurred. But Igor was adamant. And he said, full of military thoughts, neglecting the banner of heaven: “I want to break the spear In the unfamiliar Polovtsian field Reason receded into the background. Feelings, moreover of an egoistic nature, took possession of the prince. After the defeat and escape from captivity, Igor realized the mistake and realized it. That is why the author sings glory to the prince at the end of the work. This is an example of the fact that a person endowed with power must always weigh everything; it is reason, and not feelings, even if they are positive, that should determine the behavior of a person on whom the lives of many people depend.

2 A.S. Pushkin “Eugene Onegin” The heroine Tatyana Larina has strong, deep feelings for Eugene Onegin. She fell in love with him as soon as she saw him on her estate. My whole life was a guarantee of a faithful date with you; I know you were sent to me by God, You are my keeper until the grave. About Onegin: He no longer fell in love with beauties, But was dragged around somehow; They were instantly consoled when they refused; Change was glad to relax. However, Eugene realized how beautiful Tatyana was, that she was worthy of love, and he fell in love with her much later. A lot has happened over the years, and most importantly, Tatyana was already married. And happiness was so possible, So close!.. But my fate has already been decided. (Tatiana’s words to Onegin) The meeting after a long separation at the ball showed how strong Tatyana’s feelings are. However, this is a highly moral woman. She respects her husband and understands that she must be faithful to him. I love you (why lie?), But I am given to someone else; I will be faithful to him forever... In the struggle of feelings and reason, defeat reason. The heroine did not tarnish her honor, did not inflict mental wounds on her husband, although she deeply loved Onegin. She renounced love, realizing that, having tied the knot of marriage with a man, she simply had to be faithful to him. L.N. Tolstoy “War and Peace” How beautiful is the image of Natasha Rostova in the novel! How the heroine is spontaneous, open, how she longs for true love. (“Catch moments of happiness, force yourself to love, fall in love yourself! Only this one thing is real in the world, the rest is all nonsense” - the author’s words) She sincerely fell in love with Andrei Bolkonsky, is waiting for the year to pass, after which their wedding should take place. However, fate has prepared a serious test for Natasha - a meeting with the handsome Anatoly Kuragin. He just

3 charmed her, feelings washed over the heroine, and she forgot about everything. She is ready to run into the unknown, just to be close to Anatole. How Natasha blamed Sonya for telling her family about the upcoming escape! The feelings turned out to be stronger than Natasha. The mind just went silent. Yes, the heroine will repent later, we feel sorry for her, we understand her desire to love. (I am only tormented by the evil that I did to him. Just tell him that I ask him to forgive, forgive, forgive me for everything) However, how cruelly Natasha herself punished himself: Andrei freed her from all obligations. (And of all the people, I loved and hated no one more than her.) Reading these pages of the novel, you think about a lot. It's easy to say what's good and what's bad. Sometimes feelings are so strong that a person simply does not notice how he is falling into the abyss, succumbing to them. But it is still very important to learn to subordinate feelings to reason, but not to subordinate them, but simply to coordinate them, to live in such a way that they are in harmony. Then many mistakes in life can be avoided. I.S. Turgenev “Asya” 25-year-old N.N. he travels carelessly, albeit without a goal or plan, meets new people, and almost never visits sights. This is how I. Turgenev’s story “Asya” begins. The hero will have to endure a difficult test of love. He had this feeling for his girlfriend Asya. She combined cheerfulness and eccentricity, openness and isolation. But the main thing is that she is different from the others. Perhaps this is connected with her former life: she lost her parents early, the 13-year-old girl was left in the arms of her older brother, Gagin. Asya realized that she truly fell in love with N.N., that’s why she behaved unusual: sometimes withdrawing, trying to retire, sometimes wanting to attract attention. It’s as if reason and feeling are fighting in her, the impossibility of drowning out her love for N.N. Unfortunately, the hero turned out to be not as decisive as Asya, who confessed her love to him in a note. N.N. also had strong feelings for Asya: “I felt some kind of sweetness, namely sweetness in my heart: as if honey had been poured into me.” But he thought for too long about the future with the heroine, postponing the decision until tomorrow. And there is no tomorrow for love. Asya and Gagin left, but the hero was never able to find a woman in his life with whom he would throw in his lot. Too much

4 the memories of Asa were strong, and only the note reminded her. So reason became the reason for the separation, and feelings turned out to be incapable of leading the hero to decisive actions. “Happiness has no tomorrow, it doesn’t have yesterday, it doesn’t remember the past, it doesn’t think about the future. He only has the present. And that’s not a day. Just a moment." A.N. Ostrovsky “Dowry” The heroine of the play is Larisa Ogudalova. She is dowryless, that is, upon marriage, her mother is not able to prepare a dowry, which was customary for the bride to have. Larisa’s family is of average income, so she doesn’t have to hope for a good match. So she agreed to marry Karandyshev, the only one who proposed marriage to her. She does not feel any love for her future husband. But a young girl really wants to love! And in her heart this feeling of love for Paratov had already arisen, who once charmed her, and then simply left. Larisa will have to experience a strong internal struggle between feeling and reason, duty to the person she is marrying. Paratov seems to have bewitched her, she is delighted with him, succumbs to the feeling of love, the desire to be with her beloved. She is naive, believes his words, thinks that Paratov loves her just as much. But what a bitter disappointment she had to experience. In Paratov’s hands, she is simply a “thing.” Reason still wins, insight comes. True, later. “It’s a thing, it’s a thing! They are right, I am a thing, not a person. Finally, a word has been found for me, you have found it. Every thing must have an owner, I will go to the owner. And I don’t want to live anymore, to live in a world of lies and deception, to live without being truly loved (what a shame that they choose her - heads or tails). Death is a relief for the heroine. How tragic her words sound: “I was looking for love and didn’t find it. They looked at me and look at me as if I was funny.” A.I. Kuprin “Olesya” “Love knows no boundaries.” How often do we hear these words, and repeat them ourselves. However, in life, unfortunately, not everyone is able to overcome these boundaries. How beautiful is the love of the village girl Olesya, living in the lap of nature, far from civilization, and the intellectual, city dweller Ivan Timofeevich! The strong, sincere feeling of the heroes is exposed

5th test: the hero must decide to marry a village girl, and even a sorceress, as she is called around, to connect his life with a person who lives according to different laws, as if in another world. And the hero could not make a choice in time. His mind had been weighing on him for too long. Even Olesya noticed the insincerity in the character of the hero: “Your kindness is not good, not heartfelt. You are not master of your word. You love to have the upper hand over people, but although you don’t want to, you obey them.” And in the end, loneliness, because the beloved is forced to leave these places, to flee with Manuilikha from the superstitious peasants. Her beloved did not become her support and salvation. The eternal struggle between reason and feelings in man. How often does it lead to tragedy. Preserving love without losing your head, understanding responsibility for your loved one, this is not given to everyone. Ivan Timofeevich could not withstand the test of love. A.P. Chekhov “The Lady with the Dog” A holiday romance can be called the plot of A. Chekhov’s story “The Lady with the Dog”. Behind the external simplicity of the plot lies deep content. The author shows the tragedy of people who sincerely fell in love with each other. However, family ties connected both his Dmitry Dmitrievich Gurov and her Anna Sergeevna. The opinion of society, the condemnation of others, the fear of making their feelings public - all this made the life of loving people simply unbearable. Living in hiding, meeting in secret was simply unbearable. But the main thing they had was love. Both heroes are unhappy and happy at the same time. Love inspired them, tired without love. They surrendered to affection and tenderness, forgetting about their marital status. The hero was transformed, began to look at the world differently, ceased to be its usual burner. (As, in essence, if you think about it, everything is beautiful in this world, everything except what we ourselves think and think when we forget about the highest goals of existence, about your human dignity). She doesn’t feel like a fallen woman and she loves Anna Sergeevna, and that’s the main thing. How long will their secret meetings continue? Each reader can only guess where their love will lead. But the main thing that you understand when you read this work is that love is capable of anything, that it transforms, changes people, fills their lives with meaning. This feeling has enormous power over a person, and the mind sometimes becomes silent before it with Love.

6 I.A.Bunin “Dark Alleys” How sometimes complex relationships between people can be. Especially if it concerns such a strong feeling as love. What to give preference to: the strength of feelings that gripped a person, or listen to the voice of reason, which suggests that the chosen one is from another circle, that she is not a couple, which means there can be no love. Likewise, the hero of I. Bunin’s short story “Dark Alleys” Nikolai in his youth experienced a great feeling of love for Nadezhda, who was from a completely different environment, a simple peasant woman. The hero was unable to connect his life with his beloved: the laws of the society to which he belonged weighed too heavily on him. And how many more will there be in life, these Hopes! (It always seems that somewhere there will be something especially happy, some kind of meeting) As a result, life with an unloved woman. Gray everyday life. And only many years later, seeing Nadezhda again, Nikolai realized that such love was given to him by fate, and he passed her by, by his happiness. But Nadezhda was able to carry this huge feeling of love throughout her life. (Youth passes for everyone, but love is a different matter.) So sometimes fate, a person’s whole life, depends on the choice between reason and feeling. V. Rasputin “Live and Remember” A person must always remember that he is responsible for the people close to him and his loved ones. But the hero of V. Rasputin’s story “Live and Remember,” Andrei, forgot about this. He became a deserter during the war, essentially running away from the front, because he really wanted to see home and his relatives on vacation, which he received for a few days, but did not have time to get home. A brave soldier, he suddenly became rejected by society. Feeling overcame reason, the desire to be at home turned out to be so strong that he, a soldier, broke his military oath. And by doing this, the hero made the life of his loved ones miserable: his wife and parents became the family of the enemy of the people. His wife Nastya also has strong feelings for her husband. Realizing that she is committing a crime, she helps Andrei, who was hiding from the authorities, and does not extradite him. (That’s why she’s a woman, to soften and smooth out life together, that’s why she was given this amazing power, which is all the more amazing, gentle and rich the more often it is used.) As a result, both she and her

7 unborn child: Nastena threw herself into the river when she realized that she was being chased and she was betraying her loved one. (When everything is good, it’s easy to be together: it’s like a dream, just breathe, and that’s all. You have to be together when it’s bad for you why do people agree,” - Nastena’s words) A tragedy, a real drama, unfolded because Andrei Guskov succumbed to the power of feelings. We always need to remember about the people living with us and not commit rash acts, because otherwise the worst thing can happen - the death of our loved ones. M.A. Bulgakov “The Master and Margarita” Love. It's an amazing feeling. It makes a person happy, life takes on new shades. For the sake of love, real, all-encompassing, a person sacrifices everything. So the heroine of M. Bulgakov’s novel Margarita left her apparently prosperous life for the sake of love. Everything seemed to be fine with her: a husband holding a prestigious position, a large apartment, at a time when many people were living in communal apartments. (Margarita Nikolaevna did not need money. Margarita Nikolaevna could buy whatever she liked. Among her husband’s acquaintances there were interesting people. Margarita Nikolaevna never touched a primus stove. Margarita Nikolaevna did not know the horrors of living in a shared apartment. In a word, was she happy? Neither one minute!) But there was no main love... there was only loneliness (And I was struck not so much by her beauty as by the extraordinary, unprecedented loneliness in her eyes! - the words of the Master). (She came out that day with yellow flowers in her hands, so that I would finally find her, if this had not happened, she would have poisoned herself, because her life was empty.) And when love came, Margarita went to her beloved. (She looked at me in surprise, and I suddenly, and completely unexpectedly, realized that I have loved this woman all my life! - the master will say) What played the main role here? Feelings? Of course yes. Intelligence? Probably he too, because Margarita deliberately abandoned an outwardly prosperous life. And it doesn’t matter to her anymore that she lives in a small apartment. The main thing is that he is her Master nearby. She helps him finish his novel. She is even ready to become the queen at Woland’s ball - all this for the sake of love. So both reason and feelings

8 were in agreement in Margarita’s soul. (Follow me, reader! Who told you that there is no true, faithful, eternal love in the world? May the liar cut out his vile tongue!) Do we condemn the heroine? Here everyone will answer in their own way. But still, living with an unloved person is also wrong. So the heroine made a choice, choosing the path of love - the strongest feeling a person can experience.

1 ALEXANDER ANDREEV THE FOUNDATION OF YOUR SUCCESS OR How to use your emotions to achieve incredible success in life. “He who controls his emotions controls his life” SPECIAL ISSUE

Reading I.S. Turgenev’s story “Asya” we see that when Asya fell in love with N.N., she was ready to forget about herself. The author writes that for her love “there is no tomorrow.” In addition, she “never has a half feeling.”
The author shows that Asya is faced with such a feeling for the first time in her life. She wants to make her life meaningful, strives to “go... to a difficult feat.” It seems to her that she seems to have grown wings and that, like a bird, she can fly upward. It seems to her that N.N. an extraordinary person, a true hero. Asya dreamed of such a person who “could” accomplish a feat for her. She asks N.N.: “How to live? Tell me what should I do? I will do whatever you tell me...”

Reading the story, we see that N.N. educated, knows literature well, loves and understands music. At the same time, he is busy only with himself. And although he also loved Asya, he could not make a quick decision. I.S. Turgenev shows the hero as weak-willed and indecisive. He cannot contain his happiness.
The heroine's first love turns out to be unhappy.

All her expectations were in vain. N.N. got scared and retreated.

I read with great pleasure the story by I.S. Turgenev “Asya”. I really liked this piece. I'm very sorry for Asya. But on the other hand, it seems to me that they are different people and Asya would still not be happy with him.

The story “Asya” is about love and only about love, which, according to Turgenev, is “stronger than death and the fear of death” and with which “life holds and moves.” This story has extraordinary poetic charm, beauty and purity. The story is being told...

N.N. is the hero-narrator of the story. He embodies the features of a new literary type for Turgenev, which replaced the “superfluous people.” First of all, in “Ace” there is no conflict with the outside world, which is usual for Turgenev’s “superfluous people”: the hero of the story is portrayed...

In terms of genre, this work can be classified as a story. It is based on a beautiful love story, which unfortunately ended in separation. The beginning is an introduction to the Gagins. Development of action - relationships between young people. The climax is the explanation...

Why is it so painful and so difficult for me? Am I waiting for what? Do I regret anything? M. Yu. Lermontov The main theme of the story “Asya”. (Turgenev’s favorite theme of his work is the study of a love story outside the social and political background, the depiction of the life of Russians abroad.) ...

The author of this story wants to clearly show us that how very important it is to pay attention to the feelings that a person has for you. The author shows us that feelings should not be ignored. Turgenev wants to tell us that it is very important to experience first love. It shows the full significance of love, all its problems and happiness. But most importantly, he tells us that we need to take a step towards meeting love. Sooner or later, it doesn’t matter, the main thing is to take the first step on the path, perhaps to the brightest and longest love.

In the plot, we are clearly told about a couple of two people, Asa and Mr. N.N. After all, it is around this couple that the whole plot unfolds. These characters met each other completely by chance in the city of Reine. Asya immediately realized that she had deep and very emotional feelings for this person, Mr. N.N. But Mr. N.N. himself did not immediately understand what he felt for Asya, in order for him to understand and sort out his feelings for her, he thought and thought a lot about relationships and love in general. The character N.N. was extremely indecisive in his intentions and actions; he did not understand what bright ray of happiness he was refusing. But he felt that same awareness of love and affection for a person too late. It was very sad, because N.N realized that he had missed what was dear to him, that he had lost and destroyed the happiness that was so close to him, he was punishing himself for destroying everything and losing his happiness. This was his only girl, and his main beloved.

At the time of their unfulfilled relationship, Asya was only seventeen years old, she was a very confident girl. She was full of determination and absolutely nothing could embarrass her or somehow frighten her. But Mr. N.N. was not attracted by this, but by the fact that she was very sincere and no matter how she tried to show off, she was an ordinary girl. N.N did not experience any feelings for other girls, and these feelings were new to him! He was in favor of very accurately calculating whether a relationship would work out or not; he was used to reasoning and calculating accurately. But in his soul, he clearly, somewhere very deeply understood that he loved this girl and wanted to be near her.

However, without thinking much, he decides that the girl is too young for him. After all, Asya was only seventeen years old. From this situation, he clearly understood that he was simply not ready to get married and start a family.

He missed his chance to be happy, and he knew very well what a mistake he had made!

The theme of love in the story Asya

The story takes place abroad in Germany. The narration is told from the perspective of the main character N.N. In the very first lines we learn from his lips that he was young, cheerful and healthy, did not need anything and traveled without any purpose. In the small German town of N.N. was looking for solitude, having just been rejected by a young widow. At this moment N.N. and meets the Gagins, brother and sister.

There is an opinion that the prototype of Asya’s image is Turgenev’s illegitimate daughter Polina. Asya was also an illegitimate child, raised first by her mother and then in a boarding school, where she received a good education. Her way of thinking and experiences were clear to the author, and he sought to convey them by describing Asya’s ambiguous behavior.

The dual position of an illegitimate child left its mark on the girl’s character. She is a gifted, self-sufficient and independent nature. At the same time, she is very sensitive and impressionable. She is still a very young girl, almost a child. Now, when her personality is developing, she tries on different images, different manners of behavior. But there is no pretense in her, all of Asya’s actions are spontaneous, sincere and emotional. Having met his brother and sister, Mr. N.N. feels a special affection for Gagin, they become good friends. But the young man is surprised, intrigued and confused by Asya’s behavior.

In fact, the reason for the girl’s strange behavior is also that she was overcome by a completely new feeling - she is in love. And, for the first time, finding herself in the grip of such a strong feeling, Asya is in confusion - she does not know how to behave. Since childhood, the girl has become accustomed to being in her own special inner world, where not everyone is allowed. She reads and thinks a lot.

Asya expresses her thoughts and experiences directly and without guile. The new feeling plunged the heroine into confusion. Generally accepted norms of behavior do not allow the girl to talk about her experiences, but they are so strong that Asya is seized with fever. The young man is also under the influence of feelings, he sympathizes with the girl. It seems to the reader that the characters are about to open up to each other and finally be happy. Asya, like Pushkin’s Tatiana, is the first to confess her love. What about the hero of her dreams? Asya's love both pleases and confuses him, and the need to make a decision causes frustration. It becomes clear that the girl is mistaken in endowing her lover with the best human qualities; he is weak-willed and indecisive.

The denouement comes when Asya, no longer able to tolerate the unknown, appoints N.N. date, disregarding all conventions. Going on a date, the hero is full of good intentions, but at the decisive moment, instead of telling the girl about his love, he attacks her with accusations. Frightened by decisive action and responsibility for his actions, he loses his happiness irrevocably. Reading the story, we see that most often the hero feels annoyed. First he is annoyed at Asya’s unusual behavior, then at the fact that she openly admits her feelings, and then at himself. He realized his love only after losing it forever.

Option 3

We can say that first love is often quite tragic and unpredictable in outcome. This work reflects this assumption extremely clearly. In it, the author wanted to attract the attention of readers with an issue that affected him personally. It was written in 1850, and immediately gained popularity, since this story had a very bright and instructive meaning, which was understood by most readers. On the one hand, the story seems simple and uncomplicated, however, if you feel it deeper, an incredibly thoughtful philosophical meaning is revealed.

The main character did not fall in love with Asya at first sight. He became interested in her only when he was able to recognize her rather impulsive, but very sincere character, which he really liked. He thinks that she is a little strange, and although he has strong feelings, marrying her would be the wrong decision for him. When Asya informs him that her feelings for him are mutual, the hero cannot accept these words. The next day, he still decides that he needs to “live happily,” and he dreams of taking the girl as his wife, but he does not find her in the city. Then, the hero begins to lead a lonely existence for many years. He becomes desperate and stops believing in anything. He understands that at one time he made a huge mistake, because he did not accept the words of the girl with whom he could become a truly happy person. Now, the hero does not believe that he can again meet a girl whom he can love as much as Asya.

For Asya, love for the hero was an instant desire, which the heroine tried to realize by making such an open confession. She was a free girl in her thoughts, and considered it necessary to inform the central character that she loved him. The author shows that despite all her frankness, she was forced to follow the path of suffering, since the hero showed strong indecision, which is why the girl decided to leave the city. The writer shows the fact that you should live in the present moment, and not put off important moments in life for later.

A very touching, lyrical and beautiful story from the point of view of literary art, “Asya” was written in 1857 by Ivan Turgenev. Millions of readers were literally captivated by this work - people read, reread and devoured "Asey", it was translated into many foreign languages, and critics did not hide their delight. Turgenev wrote an attractive and simple love story, but how beautiful and unforgettable it turned out! Now we will do a short analysis stories"Asya" Ivan Turgenev, and in addition you can read summary on our website. In the same article, the plot of “Asia” will be presented very briefly.

    Writing history and prototypes

The story was published when Turgenev was almost forty years old. It is known that the author was not only well educated, but also possessed a rare talent. Once Ivan Turgenev went on a trip to Germany, and fleetingly saw the following picture: two women looked out of the windows from a two-story house - one was an elderly and decorous lady, and she was looking from the first floor, and the second was a young girl, and looked out she's on top. The writer wondered - who are these women, why do they live in the same house, what brought them together? Reflections on this glimpse of the picture prompted Turgenev to write the lyrical story “Asya,” which we are now analyzing.

Let's discuss who could become the prototype for the main character. Turgenev, as you know, had a daughter, Polina Brewer, who was born illegitimate. She is very reminiscent of the timid and sensual main character Asya. At the same time, the writer had a sister, so it is quite possible that Turgenev could have considered Varvara Zhitova as a prototype for Asi. Both girls could not come to terms with their dubious position in society, which worried Asya herself.

The plot of the story "Asya" is very short

A short retelling of the plot will help you better understand the analysis of the story “Asya” by Turgenev. The story is narrated by the main character on his own behalf. We see the anonymous Mr. N.N., who traveled abroad and met his compatriots there. The young people made acquaintances and even became friends. So, N.N. meets the Gagins. This is a brother and his half-sister Asya, who also went on a trip to Europe.

Gagin and N.N. like each other, they have a lot in common, so they communicate, relax together and have fun. In the end, N.N. falls in love with Asya, and the main character experiences reciprocal feelings. They declare their love, but misunderstandings in the relationship lead to mixed feelings and awkward conversation. Asya and Gagin abruptly leave, leaving a note, at the very moment when N.N. decided to ask for her hand. He rushes around in search of the Gagins, looks for them everywhere, but does not find them. And the feelings that he had for Asa will never be repeated in his life.

Be sure to read characteristics of Gagin, and it is important that we examined the plot of the story “Asya” very briefly, because this makes it easier to carry out further analysis.

    Asya's image

Asya seems to us to be a special and unusual girl. She reads a lot, draws beautifully and takes what is happening to heart. She has a keen sense of justice, but as for her character, she is changeable and even somewhat extravagant. Sometimes she is drawn to reckless and desperate actions, as can be seen from her decision to leave her relationship with N.N., with whom she fell deeply in love.

However, an analysis of the story “Asya” shows that the girl’s soul is easy to hurt; she is very impressionable, kind and affectionate. Of course, this nature attracted Mr. N.N., who began to spend a lot of time with his new friends. He looks for the reasons for her actions and is sometimes perplexed: should he condemn Asya or admire her.

Important details of the analysis of the story "Asya"

When Asya begins to communicate with the main character N.N., incomprehensible and previously unknown feelings awaken in her soul. The girl is still very young and inexperienced, and does not know how to cope with her emotions. She is afraid of this state, this explains her strange and changeable actions, which can hardly be called ordinary whims. She wants to arouse sympathy from N.N., to be attractive and charming in his eyes, and in the end she opens up to both him and Gagin.

Yes, this is a childish and naive act, but here she is - a sweet, kind girl Asya. Unfortunately, neither Gagin nor N.N. appreciate Asya’s frank and temperamental behavior. Her brother thinks she is reckless, and the main character reflects on her character, thinking that it is madness to marry a seventeen-year-old girl with such a character. In addition, he found out that Asya was illegitimate, and such a wedding would have caused misunderstanding in secular circles! Even a short analysis of the story “Asya” showed that this ruined their relationship, and when N.N. came to his senses, it was already too late.

Of course, we have something to think about: could Gagin reason with his sister, whom he loved so much, and whose whims he always fulfilled, and convince her not to rush things? Or maybe Gagin should have talked more openly with N.N.? Should Asya have made such a hasty decision and left the relationship? Wasn't this cruel to the main character? And Mr. N.N. himself - was he ready to fight for his love, go against secular rules, put his feelings above? Well, there are a lot of questions, but can anyone give clear answers to them? Hardly. Let everyone find the answer for themselves...
