Such music sounds in our destiny... Such music sounds in our destiny... Musicians will perform in these parks

These words from the song can be used to comment on the performance of brass bands in the Alexander Garden

On Saturday, August 19, the ceremonial closing of the series of summer concerts “Military Music in the Parks,” organized by the Spasskaya Tower music festival, took place in the grotto of the Alexander Garden of the Moscow Kremlin.

In total, a cycle of 15 concerts in various points of Moscow brought together 11 groups of military musicians, including the “young shift” - Suvorov students of the Moscow Military Music School. V.M.Khalilova.

The concert was timed to coincide with the beginning of the Spasskaya Tower festival, starting on August 26 on Red Square, and three groups were invited for a “show of strength” - the Central Military Band of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the Military Exemplary Band of the Guard of Honor and the band of the 154th Separate Commandant's Preobrazhensky Regiment .

All three orchestras did not limit themselves to exclusively military repertoire. Thus, the opening concert of the Central Military Orchestra, conducted by Colonel Sergei Durygin, surprised numerous listeners by performing fragments from the ballet “,” which was greeted with delight by the audience.

Despite the heat (+ 32), the musicians of the Central Military District managed to create and maintain a general mood and coherence in the playing. And the conductor’s clear, precise and rhythmic gestures completed the picture.
Unfortunately, the trumpet soloist got a little out of rhythm in Tchaikovsky’s “Neapolitan Dance,” but judging by the warm reaction of the audience, and especially the children, this was not very noticeable.

Each conductor who occupied the console of the Central Military District this evening sought to open and show listeners new facets of the sound of a military orchestra. If the head of the group, Sergei Durygin, took on the symphonic “classics”, then Major Andrei Nisenbaum, who followed him, performed with the orchestra such popular and beloved works by many as the waltz “On the Hills of Manchuria” and “Libertango” by Astor Piazzolla, in which the brass sounded very fervently orchestra. Against this background, the group of clarinets of the Central Military District especially stood out, managing to show all the beauty of the sound of their instrument.

However, with all the “simplicity” of the program, the orchestra did not forget about its military component, recalling the famous march of Semyon Chernetsky “Salute of Moscow” with the call signs from the song “Wide is my native country.” And the conductor, Lieutenant Colonel Konstantin Petrovich, enthusiastically closed the performance of the Central Military Orchestra with a mix of folk songs. Under his direction, “Dark Eyes,” “Samara Town,” and “I’ll Go Out into the Street” were performed cheerfully and with enthusiasm.

The second orchestra to perform in the Alexander Garden on Saturday was the Military Exemplary Orchestra of the Honor Guard of the Presidential Regiment. The listeners gladly welcomed the band, who began the performance with “Glory”, and then “offered” to the audience their version of the song “Moscow” by Oleg Gazmanov and a quick medley of foreign hits.

After the two-hour performance of the orchestras, the head of the directorate of the Spasskaya Tower festival, Sergei Smirnov, the head of the Moscow Department of Culture, Alexander Kibovsky, and the head of the Military Band Service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Timofey Mayakin, addressed the concert visitors. They noted that the project of such orchestras performing in parks is a pilot project, and, judging by the reaction of those who came to the concert, it is very successful.

The main goal of the cycle, according to the organizers, is to return to the wonderful Soviet tradition of orchestra concerts in parks and open areas accessible to the general public.

Alexander Kibovsky especially drew attention to the importance of this project and its educational function for the younger generation, who learn music through such concerts. He also spoke about the creator of this idea - Lieutenant General V.M. Khalilov, without whose enthusiasm and sincere love for his work the cycle would not have taken place. The audience honored the memory of the conductor and composer with applause.

Despite the hot sun, the audience, intrigued by the musical numbers, did not intend to leave and actively expressed their wishes to the musicians. Among those present at the concert there were many children who watched with interest the musicians and the conductor of the Military Band of the 154th Separate Commandant's Preobrazhensky Regiment, which completed an almost three-hour impromptu musical performance for those who came to the Alexander Garden.

Separately, it is worth highlighting the undoubtedly highest level of mastery of the orchestra and the special style in working with the ensembles of all the performing conductors. They demonstrated that a military orchestra can handle almost any genre - from pop music to serious symphonic works, such as the “1812” overture by P.I. Tchaikovsky, which was also performed at the concert.

After the orchestra played the march “Farewell of the Slavic Woman,” the audience was able to persuade the musicians to give an encore—the song “Victory Day.”

The audience greeted the orchestra after its performance with kind words of gratitude; many approached the musicians with smiles to express their admiration. And this is the best indicator that the cycle was a success.
