How can you not love potatoes? There are hundreds of options for dishes made from this simple but incredibly tasty product. One of the most interesting options is potato casserole. There are a huge number of toppings that can be used to complement the dish. This includes meat, fish, and vegetables. The secret of this combination is that potatoes have a delicate, neutral texture, and therefore not only do not interrupt the taste of other products, but also highlight it favorably. Despite the fact that the dish is quite high in calories, there are also dietary options. Potato casserole can become an element of the everyday menu or become the basis of a holiday table.

Casserole with minced meat

This is one of the classic dish options that everyone in the family will definitely enjoy. First, you need to prepare half a kilogram of minced meat (it is better to take beef, as its taste is more intense). You will also need 10 potatoes (if large, then 8 are enough), onions and green onions, a little grated Dutch cheese, 2-3 tablespoons of sifted flour, the same amount of sour cream, some breadcrumbs, as well as salt and spices.

First, peel and boil the potatoes, lightly salting the water first. Now you need to puree it, leave it to cool, and in the meantime start filling. The minced meat should be fried in a frying pan with onions and spices. Now add sour cream and flour to the potatoes, then divide the resulting “dough” into 2 parts. The first one should be placed on a greased form, sprinkled with grated cheese and covered with minced meat. Next comes green onions, cheese again, and on top it all needs to be covered with a layer of the remaining potatoes. Before putting the pan in the oven, sprinkle the casserole with breadcrumbs. When a golden brown crust appears, the dish can be considered ready.

Casserole with minced meat and mushrooms

This version of the casserole is very filling and incredibly tasty. It can serve not only as an everyday dish, but also as a holiday dish. You will need 800 grams of potatoes, half a kilogram of mushrooms (it is better to take champignons) and the same amount of minced beef, a couple of onions, a little tomato paste (literally 1-2 tablespoons), a glass of cream, grated cheese and spices.

First of all, turn on the oven to start preheating. Now cut the potatoes and boil them a little for 5 minutes. Chop the onion and place half of it in a frying pan with heated oil, along with the mushrooms. When they are almost ready, add salt and spices. Place the mushrooms in a separate bowl, and add the remaining onion and minced meat to the frying pan, to which tomato paste, cream and spices are added a few minutes before cooking. Now return the mushrooms to the pan and simmer the filling for a few minutes.

Now move on to assembling the casserole. Place half of the minced meat on the bottom of the greased form, followed by a layer of potatoes. Sprinkle the second layer of minced meat with grated cheese and place in the oven. In half an hour, the dish will be ready and all that remains is to sprinkle it with fresh herbs.

Potato and chicken casserole

This recipe is distinguished not only by its refined taste, but also by its speed of preparation. For it you will need a chicken breast, half a kilogram of mushrooms, 7 potatoes, onions, a glass of cream or sour cream, a little grated cheese and spices.

First of all, you need to peel the potatoes, cut them into thin slices and fry in oil until half cooked. The chicken needs to be boiled and finely chopped. Now you need to fry the mushrooms in oil. To prepare the sauce, you need to saute the flour and then mix it with cream. The mass should simmer for about 4 minutes.

Layer the potatoes, chicken, mushrooms, and potatoes again into the pan. Before putting the dish in the oven, pour the sauce over it and sprinkle with cheese. In 15 minutes the dish will be ready.

Casserole with onions and cheese

The taste of this dish is very refined and delicate. To prepare it, take 5 large potatoes and the same number of chicken eggs. You will also need a quarter cup of cream and a little salt. For the filling you will need about a glass of grated cheese (more is possible), half a large onion, as well as sour cream and butter (for serving).

First, prepare the mashed potatoes. Beat eggs with cream and salt and place in a bowl with potatoes. You should also add a third of the cheese here, as well as some finely chopped onion.

Grease a baking dish or deep frying pan with oil and place the entire potato mixture on it. Sprinkle everything on top with the remaining cheese and onions. Bake the dish until it is covered with a crust.

Casserole according to GOST as in kindergarten

Every person sooner or later begins to feel nostalgic for kindergarten food. One of the most delicious recipes from childhood is potato casserole. To prepare it, you will need a kilogram of potatoes and half a kilogram of any minced meat. You also need an egg, a little butter (about a tablespoon), an onion, 2/3 cup milk, breadcrumbs and salt.

Let the potatoes cook, and then fry the chopped onion in sunflower oil. When it turns golden, add the minced meat to the frying pan and add a little salt to the filling. Mash the potatoes, adding milk, salt and butter. Also stir in the egg into this mixture.

Place half of the mashed potatoes in the mold, followed by the minced meat, and at the very end, cover the filling with the remaining potatoes. Sprinkle the dish with breadcrumbs and place in the oven. In half an hour, the delicious potato casserole from childhood will be ready.

Multicooker recipe

A multicooker is a real assistant for housewives, because... can perform many different functions. Potato casserole is also subject to this wonderful device. In addition, thanks to this device, the dish will not burn or dry out, as can happen if you cook it in the oven. You will need a kilogram of potatoes, 500 grams of minced meat, onions, 5 eggs, spices, 5 tablespoons of flour and butter (a little).

Boil the potatoes, first cutting them into small cubes. By the way, for this process you can also use a multicooker turned on in a special mode. Onions along with butter, salt and minced meat can also be fried using this device. Mash the potatoes and, when they have cooled, add eggs, flour and some dried aromatic herbs. It is better to use a mixer or blender to make the mass airy and homogeneous.

The bowl of the multicooker should be generously greased with butter and vegetable oil and sprinkled well with breadcrumbs. Now layer the potatoes and minced meat. The top layer of mashed potatoes can be sprinkled with spices and also a few pieces of butter. Set the “Baking” mode, and the multicooker itself will determine the time required to prepare the dish (about an hour to an hour and a half). Remove the dish from the bowl when it has cooled, otherwise it may fall apart.

Egg and potato casserole

This is one of the simplest and most economical recipes. To implement it you will need a kilogram of potatoes, 6 eggs, 2 onions, a glass of grated cheese, 3 tablespoons of flour.

The onion needs to be coarsely chopped (preferably into half rings), then fried in sunflower oil. Grate the potatoes on a coarse grater and mix with flour. The eggs need to be beaten and also placed in a bowl with the potatoes. Place potatoes and onions on a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet. Sprinkle the dish with cheese on top and bake in the oven for 30-40 minutes.

Sausage casserole recipe

In order not to fool your head with minced meat, you can use your favorite sausages as a filling for the casserole. So, for a kilogram of potatoes, take 5 sausages, 3 eggs and 100 grams of hard cheese, which needs to be grated. Salt, spices and herbs will be used as flavoring additives.

Potatoes need to be boiled, peeled, grated and placed on the bottom of the mold. Next comes the grated cheese. The sausages, in turn, should be cut into circles and laid on top of the cheese layer. Cheese again. Top everything with beaten eggs, salt and pepper. It will take about half an hour to bake the dish, after which it can be decorated with finely chopped herbs.

Potato and cabbage casserole

In order to prepare a tasty and healthy vegetable casserole, you will need 200 grams of cabbage (preferably young, as it will be more tender) and the same amount of potatoes (a little more can be used), 1 small carrot, a tablespoon of butter, crackers, pepper and salt.

The cabbage needs to be washed, removed from dirty and spoiled leaves, and then finely chopped. Boil water, add salt and boil the cabbage in it until fully cooked. If you want the dish to be especially tender, you can use milk instead of water. Now you need to transfer the cabbage to a colander so that it drains well. Also boil or fry the carrots in a frying pan, chop finely, or grate them.

Now you need to start preparing the potatoes. It needs to be peeled, cut and boiled in water that has been previously salted. Now add the oil and make a smooth and homogeneous puree. Mix the cabbage with the puree and add spices if desired.

A mold or frying pan with high sides should be greased with melted butter, and to ensure that the casserole does not burn, sprinkle with breadcrumbs. Place the resulting mass in a mold (potatoes, cabbage, carrots, potatoes, cheese) and also sprinkle breadcrumbs on top. To make the crust golden, you can grease the surface of the casserole with butter or spread out small pieces of it.

Before putting the dish in the oven, you need to warm it up thoroughly. The baking time will be no more than 20 minutes, since all the ingredients are already ready for use. The main thing is that a golden brown crust appears. It won't hurt if you sprinkle the finished dish with fresh herbs.

Casserole with tomatoes

Potato and tomato casserole can serve not only as an independent dish, but also as a side dish. For it you will need 4 large potatoes, a tomato (if small, you can use 2), half a glass of cream, an egg, grated cheese, a little butter and spices.

Boil the potatoes, cut them into slices and place them on the bottom of a mold greased with butter, which must first be melted. Place chopped tomatoes on top and sprinkle it all generously with cheese. Before placing the pan in the oven, pour the beaten egg and cream over the casserole. The dish is ready when the filling “sets”.

Casserole for vegetarians

Despite the fact that vegetarians do not eat meat, this does not mean that their dishes cannot be tasty and aromatic. So, for such people, a potato casserole with vegetables as a filling is perfect. Plus, this casserole option cooks in minutes and doesn't require an oven. Prepare the following products: 5 small potatoes, 2 tablespoons of flour or semolina, tomato, can of corn and green peas, herbs, half a glass of grated cheese.

The peculiarity of this casserole is that it contains neither eggs nor cream, which can stick the mass together. Therefore, it is important to choose old potatoes, which contain the most starch. Also, pay attention to the color. It is yellow potatoes that “grab” best.

You can make a casserole from either raw or cooked potatoes. The second option is suitable if you are limited in time. If you chose the first method, then first peel the potatoes and grate them coarsely. To it you need to add flour or semolina, as well as spices and vegetable oil. Salt is added very last before baking, otherwise the potatoes will release juice. To prepare the filling, remove the skins from the tomatoes (to do this, put them first in boiling water and then in cold water). Now all that remains is to finely chop the tomatoes and also add some spices to them.

Heat a frying pan with vegetable oil and begin layering potatoes and tomatoes. To make the dish more satisfying and tasty, you can grate a little cheese. Once the dish is assembled, reduce the heat to low and cover the pan with a lid. When you notice the bottom of the casserole has browned, turn it over and put the lid back on. When the dish is ready, sprinkle it with fresh herbs.

The vegetarian casserole can be baked in the oven if desired.

One of the main advantages of potato casseroles is that they are quick and easy to prepare. This dish can be enjoyed even by those who do not have outstanding culinary skills. You can tasty and satisfyingly feed the whole family, and also make potato casserole your signature dish. Don't be afraid to experiment with the base and toppings. So, from a seemingly simple dish you can make a real culinary masterpiece, which will be an excellent addition to the holiday table and will surprise your loved ones and guests.

Potato casserole with minced meat in the oven in sour cream (step by step)

The most common recipe is with the addition of minced meat. I advise you not to stop at one type of meat; a mix of several varieties is always tastier. Combine pork with chicken and beef. In my case, there are also two types: veal and pork.

Required:

  • Minced meat, mixed – 400 gr.
  • Potato tubers – 600 gr.
  • Sour cream – 5 tablespoons.
  • Cheese – 100 gr.
  • Egg.
  • Bulb.
  • Garlic – 2 cloves.
  • Salt pepper.

First, start with the minced meat. If you make it at home yourself, then grind the meat in any way (meat grinder, blender). Grind the garlic with a press and add to the mass. Pepper, add a little salt. Mix the minced meat thoroughly.

Chop the onion into half rings. If you come across a large specimen, divide the rings in half.

Cut the peeled tubers into circles.

The cheese must be grated, but not coarsely, use the small cells of the grater.

Place half the cheese in a separate bowl, add an egg, salt and pepper. Pour in sour cream. Mix thoroughly. This is a baking filling.

Grease the bottom and sides of the pan with vegetable oil. Place potato mugs in two layers.

Pour in the filling, using half of the total amount. Spread the minced meat filling evenly on top, as shown in the photo.

Scatter the onion slices. Cover the onions with potatoes in a single layer. Fill with remaining filling.

To ensure the potatoes are well baked, first preheat the oven to 200 o C. Cook for 30 minutes, wrapping the pan in foil - this will speed up the process.

Remove the dish and sprinkle with the remaining cheese. Return to baking for another quarter of an hour, but at a temperature of 180 o C. You will know that the dish is ready when you see a golden crust.

Recipe for potato casserole with fish in the oven

An original recipe for the dish, since fish is rarely used in making casseroles. However, lightly salted pink salmon and potatoes, when combined, make it possible to make a tasty dish. By the way, Kalalaatikko, which contains the favorite vegetable with herring, baked in the oven, is very popular in Finland.

Take:

  • Lightly salted pink salmon – 300 gr.
  • Chopped green onions - 2 large spoons.
  • Potatoes – 7 pcs.
  • Milk – 150 ml.
  • Eggs - a couple.
  • Carrot.
  • Dill, salt.

Bake:

  1. Cut the peeled potatoes into circles and place them in several rows on a greased baking sheet.
  2. Divide the pink salmon fillet into small pieces and place on top of the potato slices.
  3. Sprinkle with finely grated carrots, chopped dill, and green onions. Sprinkle with sunflower oil.
  4. Place in the oven for 25 minutes.
  5. At the same time, whisk the milk and eggs. When the top of the dish is baked, pour in the ingredients. Leave for another 20 minutes until the potatoes are ready.
  6. Using this recipe, you can prepare a casserole with lightly salted herring.

Attention! The fish does not have to be salted; I gave an option common in Scandinavian countries. In our country, it is more common to make a dish with any frozen fish with white meat.

Delicious mashed potato casserole

The dish has a delicate consistency and pleasant taste. You can prepare it from specially made puree, or use yesterday’s puree. My recipe has minced meat added. If you want a lighter dish, exclude it from the ingredients.

  3. Cook in the oven, preheating the cabinet to 180 o C. Duration - half an hour. If necessary, add more time until light browning appears.
