National Art Gallery “Khazine. National Art Gallery "Khazine Kazan Art Gallery

The Khazine National Art Gallery was opened as a structural unit of the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan in 2005, the year of the celebration of the 1000th anniversary of the founding of Kazan, in the building of the former Junker School of the Kazan Kremlin.

By this time, the collection of Tatar paintings, graphics, sculpture, decorative and applied arts numbered more than eleven thousand works. The building itself, in the third entrance of which part of the collection of the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan was housed, is an architectural monument in the classicist style and is protected by the state.

It was built in 1836 according to the design of the architect Pyatnitsky for one of the first schools of military cantonists in Russia. Later, from the second half of the 19th century, the Kazan Infantry Junker School was located here. This is clearly visible in the engravings and paintings of artists of that time (E.M. Korneev, A.N. Rakovich, V.S. Turin, E. Tournerelli, A.V. Ilyin, A.P. Bogolyubov) with views of the Kazan Kremlin a massive, horizontally elongated building. During Soviet times, a military garrison was located here.

The Khazine National Art Gallery was opened for visitors in 2005. Currently, the permanent exhibition presents works of decorative and applied art, painting, graphics, sculpture created by artists of Kazan, the Kazan province, and the Republic of Tatarstan in the 19th-21st centuries. Here you can also see works of Soviet fine art.

Artistic works demonstrate not only the diversity of life in our region - nature in landscapes and still lifes, epoch-making events in historical paintings, everyday life in paintings of the everyday genre - but also the bright individuality of creative manners, the difference in stylistic preferences: from realism to the avant-garde.

In the Khazine gallery, in addition to the permanent exhibition of fine art, you can see thematic and personal exhibitions of artists from Tatarstan, other regions of Russia and abroad. Up to twenty-five exhibitions are held annually.
