Master class on drawing. Landscape with sunset on the sea

Voronkina Lyudmila Artemyevna, teacher of additional education MBOUDOD DTDM g.o. Tolyatti
This master class is intended for teachers, parents, and children over six years old.
Target: Creating a landscape with a sunset on the sea
Tasks:
- get great pleasure from the drawing process
- in 20 minutes create a “masterpiece” that will become not only a decoration, but also a talisman of the house
- relieve fatigue, improve mood, self-esteem
- promote the education of the individual, cultivate a reverent attitude towards native nature.

Purpose: interior decoration, gift.

Landscape is a special genre of painting. It combines the feelings awakened in the artist from the contemplation of nature, and the skill with which he conveys to the viewer the state of his soul. At this master class you have the opportunity to truthfully depict the living colors of nature and the beauty of a sunset at sea.
It is impossible to be able to do everything, although in contrast to this same phrase there is another, no less famous - “a talented person is talented in everything.” It's hard to disagree. Perhaps, in reality, some things are easier for us, others more difficult. But the result depends solely on determination and desire to achieve the goal. Therefore, even being by nature a person of an absolute technical profession, who has never encountered creativity, you can learn to draw. For example, you can start by drawing a landscape.

In this master class, we will create together with you a landscape with a sunset on the sea.

For work we need

A sheet of white paper, A3 format (I use watercolor paper)
Gouache: yellow, orange, red, ruby, purple, black (gouache should be “live”, i.e. soft, the consistency of sour cream).
Brushes (I use synthetic brushes No. 3 and No. 1, sharp ones)
A jar of water.

Progress:

Select the layout of the sheet. It can be located both horizontally and vertically.
I placed it horizontally. Unlock all colors.

I've always loved watching the sunset.
The sun spills colors across the sky.
Today, like many years ago,
I'm immersed in this fairy tale again.

Using brush No. 3, draw a horizon line in the middle of the sheet using yellow gouache.

We begin to paint the sky with the same paint

Next, add a little orange to the yellow paint. We make a color stretch from yellow to orange

Add red paint to orange paint

Add ruby paint to the red paint (you can skip this step)

Add purple paint to ruby paint

Let's turn the sheet upside down and repeat all the previous steps.

Next, draw a black line along the horizon line

Let's draw the silhouette of the mountains

Let's paint over the mountains. I take purple and black paints on a brush

Using small strokes with brush No. 1, draw the reflection of the mountains on the water

Let's draw the silhouette of a yacht

Let's paint, draw a reflection on the water

Let's draw a mast. Let's just draw a straight line up

Let's draw a sail

Let's draw more yachts in the distance

The final touch - seagulls

Works of my pupils, 3rd grade students

As you can see, they showed their imagination - palm trees and dolphins appeared
More work, painted at summer camp today

All that remains is to frame the work under glass and the gift is ready. But that is another story.
This is how my artists are - satisfied and happy

I love the beauty of the sunset...
Especially when he's on the water...
The brilliance of the burning waves of a wondrous surge...
Everything brings out the best in me...
Breathtaking from obsession...
And my heart sings with bliss...
For the body this is just a temptation...
Calling him to heroic deeds from afar...
You can't enjoy such beauty...
Sunset on the sea is Heaven on Earth...
You can fall in love without noticing...
And get sick of all this beauty...
I love the wonderful glow of the sunset...
The sunset really became like family to me...
I'll throw it away, I'll remove all doubts...
Everyone loved the sunset with their soul

Marina (marine, marina, from marinus - sea) is the most popular genre among art lovers, depicting a marine view or events occurring at sea. The sea element fascinates with its unpredictable variability. The delicate shimmer of mother-of-pearl shades of a sunny day suddenly changes to the rich contrasts of a pre-storm state. The heavy clouds are replaced by the soothing lilac velvet of sunset. It is difficult to resist the desire and not to capture this beauty on paper. We propose to make three drawings depicting the sea in three graphic techniques: colored pencils, watercolor pencils and pastel pencils from STABILO.

Before you start work, remember the type of sea or weather condition of the sea element that is most vividly imprinted in your memory. It’s good if you already have a sketch of the landscape, and you clearly remember the entire color palette of the sky, clouds, sand, coastal stones, and the surface of the sea itself. If there is no sketch, then you can use a photograph as source material for the drawing. For work, use colored pencils from STABILO, watercolor paper with an “eggshell” texture, A4 size, and use an eraser to adjust the drawing.

For the depiction with colored pencils, the chosen state was a sunny day with a slight calm on the sea, with the playful surf of the waves on the rocky shore. A sailboat on the horizon and seagulls high in the sky are constant characteristic elements of the seascape and will add some spirituality to the picture.

Stage 1. Preparatory drawing.

Using light contour lines, place the elements of the landscape on the sheet. First of all, draw a horizon line just above the middle of the sheet. She will conditionally divide the drawing into “heaven” and “earth”. Closer to the top edge of the sheet, mark a row of nearby and slightly lower distant clouds. On the left, mark the rocky edge of the shore and from it to the right downwards the border of coastal sand with wave rollback. Arrange the wave lines on the sea surface in descending order towards the horizon line. On the right side of the picture, outline the outlines of a sailboat, and in the upper part, outline the silhouettes of seagulls.

Stage 2. The task of this stage is to identify color tonal relationships in the landscape.

Using pencils in shades of blue, lightly shade the sky, most of the sea surface and the shadowy parts of the rocky shore. Cover the mass of shore and coastal sand with pink over the blue color; it will generalize the color scheme of this part and serve as the color of the most illuminated places.

Layout by color

Stage 3. Light-air perspective in the landscape.

Use more frequent shading to reveal the depth of the sky: closer to the top of the sheet, increase the color saturation, contrast the top edge in the clouds; Closer to the horizon, reduce the saturation of the color tone and soften the contrast at the bottom of the clouds. Generally draw a long-range plan on the surface of the sea. The foreground of the surf will require more careful elaboration: use warmer shades to separate the vertical parts of the waves from the horizontally located bases - they are cooler shades. The same shades predominate in parts of the low tide on the coastal sand. Decide the rocks in more detail according to the planes of the relief; they contain shades of beige sand tones.

Layout by color

Stage 4. Detailing elements and generalizing the landscape.

After completing the work in halftones, look again at the drawing; perhaps somewhere there is a need to adjust the tone and pattern of the element. Where necessary, remove excess with the edge of the eraser, somewhere you can go over the color again. Further elaboration of objects in color consists of drawing characteristic details: clarifying the pattern of nearby clouds, identifying shape and volume. Draw the crests of the waves and splashes of water. Determine the outline of the sailboat more specifically. Emphasize the relief of the rocky part of the coast with contrasts. Add details to the receding water lines and wet sand with coastal pebbles. Sketch the silhouettes of seagulls high in the sky.

Layout by color

Stage 5. Shutdown

In conclusion, take a quick glance at the drawing and determine whether all the elements of the landscape are in harmony with each other, whether it was possible to maintain the integrity of the composition, placing accents, conveying the light-air perspective of the space, and, most importantly, conveying the unforgettable breathtaking beauty of the sea.

One of the bizarre features is that there is no sea at all. Here it is more important to buy a bunch of different trinkets and magnets for the refrigerator. Otherwise, it does not count as a vacation. After all, you can fry your butt in the sun anywhere, but you can only buy real Crimean shells made in Vietnam in Crimea. Another evidence of a good vacation can be photographs or, if you are an artist, drawings. Looking forward to the summer holidays, you and I can prepare in advance and learn how to draw a beach with a pencil. The beach is a heap of artificially created mixture of clay and shiny pebbles for the comfort of tourists' butts. There is also natural sand on the bottoms of lakes, rivers and children's sandboxes, but it is not so pleasant to the touch and is teeming with local flora and fauna.

In the civilized world, the beach is something more than a substance. This is a place to hang out, this is a cultural institution. The list of interesting things to do here is small, mainly boils down to:

  • Construction of castles;
  • Burying friends in it;
  • Search for treasures, shells, forgotten jewelry by tourists;
  • Declarations of love on the sand, which are immediately washed away by the surf. Symbolic.

And yet, the beach brings a lot of joy to children and their parents. We will be especially careful, because the child is busy with something all day. Cheap and cheerful. If you want to bring back from the sea not only a set of a young tourist, but also a beautiful picture drawn by yourself, I recommend training with us for now.

How to draw a beach with a pencil step by step

Step one. Sketch. First, let's outline the locations of objects on paper. I don’t know what you will have there, I have an umbrella, a sun lounger, and a couple of palm trees or other exotic vegetation.
Step two. Let's add some detail to the above items.
Step three. Let's draw an umbrella, a sun lounger, and carefully draw palm leaves.
Step four. In the background we will add the sea and clouds. And in the foreground we will shade. The sketch is ready. Here's how it happened:
You can add something else interesting, or even color it. I will be glad to see your creativity, send your works! You can attach a picture directly under this article, or in our VKontakte group! I also recommend trying to learn how to draw.

In this world it is quite difficult to imagine anything more romantic than a sailboat sailing alone on the waves towards the unknown. Of course, traveling by sea is romantic in itself, but a sailboat is simply the pinnacle of all romantic dreams.

We dream of sailboats from early childhood, reading Jack London, Vladislav Krapivin or Jules Verne. But sailing even on a tiny sailing yacht will definitely not leave an adult indifferent. When a large real sailboat with several masts and a full set of straight and oblique sails appears on the horizon, it is simply breathtaking.

Long before the Titanic sank to the seabed, people mostly moved on water on ordinary boards with sheets attached. The unique tradition of sending sheets into the sea has remained to this day, albeit as entertainment. Nevertheless, the topic is interesting, so in today's lesson you will see how to correctly draw a sailboat with a pencil. A sailboat is a watercraft that uses wind power to move. Brilliant and simply angry and cheap, but in complete calm it is extremely inconvenient.

The whole truth about life:
— A sailfish is also a fish that lived among ships for a long time and its upper fin simply mutated into a sheet.
“The best way to catch the proverbial seasickness is to run backwards on the deck during a storm.”
— Black labor appeared when the first ships sailed to the shores of Africa. There were real problems with the wind, but the ship still had to move. Therefore, the peoples of Africa were given oars and the meaning of life.
— A sailboat usually does not float on land, but when it does, we can expect a lot of casualties among civilians.

Drawing a sailboat is easier than building or buying, but it will still look beautiful.

In this master class, we will learn together how to draw the sea in gouache with a sailboat. So, the drawing technique is gouache.

Haven't held a brush in your hands since school? It doesn't mean anything at all. Gouache drawings are a great start for beginners.

Why this particular technique?
Gouache is the optimal material to start with.
First of all, it is very affordable and can be purchased virtually at every step (compared to acrylic or oil).

Secondly, the water base of this type of paint makes it possible to easily vary the thickness of the paint, the level of its application, as well as the formation of textures on the canvas.

Thirdly, the fact that gouache is a completely non-toxic paint is very important. Thus, gouache lessons are completely safe for children and people with certain diseases and various allergic reactions.

Fourthly, this paint quite flexibly combines some of the qualities of watercolor and, in some cases, even oil paints, therefore, painting with gouache will provide an opportunity to develop practical skills in other techniques.

The thick consistency of the paint allows you to layer different layers on top of each other, while painting light areas with darker ones or vice versa. This allows you to make many changes to the image before it dries. At the same time, it is also possible to blur the paint, diluting it with more transparent layers, which makes the drawing more realistic.

It is in connection with the important advantages described above that in this lesson we will use gouache paint.

Place the paper you are going to draw on vertically and divide it roughly in half. Let the top of the sheet be a little larger. Using a large brush, start painting the sky.

Use white gouache to draw a small moon. It is necessary to outline the border with a bright yellow color. You can also add a little orange.

While the gouache is still wet, add more dark color around the edges. To do this, simply mix black and blue paint on the palette.

Draw the outer edge of the clouds.

Mix blue, white and a little black paint. Add it to the clouds so that you get a very smooth transition from the light part near the moon.

From the inside of the picture, you should draw lighter clouds, since they reflect the light of the moon. While the paint is still wet, mixing colors is fairly easy. You can take a clean brush and use it to mix two colors in which you want to get an even and smooth transition.

For the stars, first mix some bluish paint on your palette and draw a small circle. When the paint is dry, use a thin brush to make a small dot of white paint.

Then you should carefully sketch out an image of a sailboat with a pencil.

We draw the sea with gouache step by step. The sea should first be painted over with uneven, long horizontal strokes, alternating dark blue, light blue and turquoise paint. In the foreground, paint a large wave with blue-green paint.

Continue drawing the sea. Use bright blue paint to paint small waves near the ship itself.

Use white gouache to paint highlights on the waves. Paint the sailboat with gouache. Please note that the sails should be drawn with a very smooth transition from blue to white, from left to right.

All that remains now is to paint small wings of foam on the waves, and also apply highlights of light with a thin brush. I sprayed the foam with gouache using a hard brush. First, it is better to practice on some piece of paper.

The result is a work like this - a sailboat sailing home through a mysterious moonlit night.

Drawing waves

We have already drawn the waves in the sailboat example, but we want you to look again step by step at how they are drawn.

In this lesson we will introduce you to how to draw the sea with gouache step by step in pictures and with a description. Step-by-step steps will be presented with which you will learn to draw the sea with gouache, like this.

You can draw waves on the sea if you understand how the wave moves. First let's draw the background. Draw the horizon line just above the middle. Let's smoothly paint the sky from blue to white near the horizon. You can draw clouds or clouds as you wish.

To make the transition smoother, paint part of the sky with blue paint, part with white, and then use a wide brush to mix the paint at the border using horizontal strokes.

We will also paint the sea itself with blue and white paint. It is not necessary to apply strokes horizontally. There are waves at sea, so it is better to make strokes in different directions.

Now mix green paint with yellow and add a little white. Let's draw the base for the wave. In the picture below, the darker areas are wet paint, the gouache just didn’t have time to dry.

On the green stripe, use a hard brush with white paint to distribute the movement of the wave.

Please note that the left part of the wave has already fallen into the sea, next to it is the raised part of the wave. And so on. Under the fallen part of the wave we will make the shadows stronger. To do this, mix blue and purple paint.

Mix blue and white gouache on the palette and draw the next falling part of the wave. At the same time, we will strengthen the shadow under it with blue paint.

Let's outline the front wave with white gouache.

Let's draw small waves between the big ones. Let's draw shadows under the near wave with blue paint.

Now you can draw the details. Spray foam with a brush along the entire length of the wave. To do this, take a hard bristle brush and white gouache. There should not be a lot of white gouache on the brushes and it should not be liquid. It is best to smear your finger with gouache and blot the tips of the brush, and then spray it in the area of the waves. It is better to practice on a separate sheet so that you can direct the splashes to a specific place. You can also use a toothbrush for these purposes, but the result may not justify the result, because... the splash area can be large. But if you succeed, then that's good. Don't forget, try the splashes on a separate sheet.
