Marina draws wonderfully, gracefully embroiders with beads and satin stitch. “Just think!” - someone may react skeptically to the list of talents of a girl from the city of Saki, not knowing that she does all this without hands. She was born this way. But any of us can envy her optimism, willpower, and charge of energy. “Today” visited 20-year-old Marina Khodiy.

As if to confirm these words, Marina easily and naturally straightens her hair and then takes a coffee cup by her ear. With your foot. She heats up the food herself, even cooks a little - for example, she can peel potatoes or make dumplings for the whole family. Vacuuming or washing dishes is also no problem for her. Although all this came with years and experience.

Marina’s childhood passed like that of an ordinary child - she rode her bike around the yard, even racing with the boys, and jumped into hopscotch: “Mom was always worried that when I went to school, I would lag behind other children. But she worked with me a lot, so already in kindergarten I knew how to write.”

Natalya, Marina’s mother, looks at her with tenderness: “Since childhood, we have been developing her legs, knowing that we have no other choice. Of course, everything didn’t work out right away, but now her fingers are very dexterous. She was always very active, but she obeyed me, and even played mischief somehow carefully.”

They offered to help the girl with prosthetics, but this would not have helped her functionally - only in appearance. “They would have paid me everything, but I categorically refused,” says Marina. - Why do I need dentures? I was born this way, I never had arms, and for me it would be unnatural.”

GORGEOUS. Marina is a real beauty, she gives a head start to many girls in the art of makeup: she draws arrows, fills her eyebrows, and paints her lips. “I’ve been doing everything myself for a long time,” says Marina. - Even on prom night I wore makeup without my mother and girlfriends. It’s just that I’m not very good at doing hairstyles yet. And I can’t put on all the clothes myself. I have special things that I put on myself, and there are those that only with the help of my brother or mother. But there is still a long way to go, we must always strive for excellence.”

Maxim, Marina’s brother, joins our conversation: “I always try to help her. True, we didn’t always get along before, you know, in childhood, even a two-year age difference is significant. But now we go everywhere together, even walk in the same company. I feel calmer this way.”

“Hurry up, I feel calmer! - Marina laughs. “I can not only stand up for myself, but also for you!” “How is your personal life going?” - we are immodestly interested. “To be honest, not yet,” sighs Marina. - I had my first love, like any girl. But now it’s not working out yet, although I’m already thinking about my husband and children.”

“Perhaps everything will change in the summer!” - brother Maxim winks.

Now Marina is studying at a branch of Kharkov University in the correspondence department. Receives a lawyer's education. Although, according to her, she is not entirely satisfied with her choice of profession. “When it was time to apply, my parents decided that I would become a lawyer. I didn't resist. Now I understand that this is not my thing. But I never back down from what I started, I always finish the job. Therefore, I’ll get an education, and then we’ll see,” says Marina with a smile. By the way, a Kiev philanthropist helps her financially with regard to education. But, alas, there is no help from my father - he left the family four years ago.

“It’s a treacherous act,” Natalya says with tears in her eyes. “I also lost my job then, and my younger sister Olya ended up in the hospital, it was Marinka’s graduation... Honestly, I thought I simply wouldn’t survive then - it was very difficult.”

When we said goodbye, already on the threshold Marina said: “I don’t understand people who commit suicide. What are they missing? There is no need to dwell on problems and troubles. We need to live and look to the future! Therefore, no matter what happens, love life!”

“RUSLANA MAKES ME DREAM”

An unusual girl from Crimea has more than once been a guest at various TV shows and ceremonies, at one of which she met the singer Ruslana. “She personally presented me with the Pride of the Country award,” says Marina. - And we have been communicating with her for many years - she always visits me when she performs in Crimea. This friendship inspires me to do a lot; thanks to Ruslana, I took up singing seriously and dream of traveling around the world. I hope I will have my own car." Recently, at the “About Life” program, Marina was awarded a certificate for driving lessons in the Czech Republic, and she has a chance to learn how to drive a special car for people with disabilities there: “I hope that through your newspaper I will remind you of myself and they will help me with this trip to Prague , and then I will be one step closer to my dream.”

I DRAWED A SELF-PORTRAIT

Marina studied drawing a lot and persistently - the result of this hobby was a series of large works, including a self-portrait. They said about her works: “She paints with her soul.” But now her brushes and easel are in the background; her main activity is vocal lessons. The girl has already proven to everyone more than once that nothing is impossible for her, and now she promises that she will sing on stage!

Swapna Augustine is an artist from Kerala (India) who has a congenital pathology - she has no hands. However, this did not stop her from mastering the technique of drawing with her feet. And although creating paintings takes her much more time than a healthy person, the expressiveness and quality of the paintings do not suffer from this.

Despite the fact that Swapna was born without arms, this did not stop her from realizing her dream of becoming an artist. From an early age, the girl made it a point to do all housework with her feet, including developing her artistic abilities. Thanks to the support of her family and friends, as well as friends and school teachers, who assisted her in every possible way, she learned not just to draw, but to paint full-fledged paintings with complex elements that required perseverance and accurate drawing of small details. During her student years, Augustine's works were published in youth magazines, and a few years later, her paintings began to appear at exhibitions throughout India. Now almost the whole world is talking about the young woman’s talent, because Swapna managed not only to make her dream come true, but also to instill hope in people with disabilities.
