How to improve fantasy and imagination? The magical world of imagination.

One of the most mysterious mental phenomena of the human brain is imagination. This concept is understood as a special mental process through which new images are created based on previously perceived ones. It seems to reflect reality in a new unusual form. Without him, creative professions would not exist: poets, artists, writers, musicians. Naturally, the question arises - how to develop imagination?

Varieties of Imagination

There are many types of this mental process. Let's briefly consider the main ones.

  • Active. Thanks to him, we have the ability to consciously evoke the necessary image. In turn, it is divided into:
  1. Creative - helps to create new images, which are later embodied in a painting, architectural work, music, clothing, etc. Without at least a remote idea of the future result of his work, a person will not start working. This type is also called productive, since the image created by our brain is later brought to life in the form of a painting, sculpture, song, clothing and much more.
  2. Recreating - allows you to again and again present a visual image of those things that we have already seen. This type is very important, since the information accumulated by it is the basis from which ideas for creativity are drawn.
  • Passive. It generates images and ideas that will not be brought to life by humans in the near future. May be conscious or unconscious.
  1. A dream is the ability of the human brain to generate images of the distant future, to plan things that, in general, can be accomplished, but not in the near future. Dreams manifest themselves consciously.
  2. Dreams. The main feature of this type of imagination is that the implementation of images created by the brain is impossible and unrealistic. They appear consciously.
  3. Hallucinations are the unconscious generation by the human brain of images that are unreal and non-existent. They appear in the event of a malfunction of the brain (for example, as a result of taking certain medications or mental illness). Their impact is so strong that a person has absolutely no doubt about their unreality.
  4. We see dreams at a time when our body is resting. They appear unconsciously.

Features of imagination development

The level of imagination development is individual for each person. It is also developed differently in adults and children.
This mainly depends on how much a person has developed his imagination. The people around you also play an important role in this. If parents do not allow their child to fantasize and condemn his innocent inventions, then, most likely, the child will give free rein to his fantasies less and less.
Some psychologists distinguish three stages of fantasy development:

  • childhood from 3 years;
  • adolescence;
  • youth.

During these periods, a person has the most intense imagination, when he believes in the most incredible miracles, wants to perform feats, and get involved in adventures. At the same time, at such stages rash, risky and dangerous actions are often committed.
Let us note that the degree of development of imagination is directly related to a person’s emotionality: the greater the ability to fantasize, the stronger the emotions.
Without a developed imagination, a person thinks in cliches, his inner world is meager and monotonous, his brain cannot produce new ideas, unique images.

It has been observed that imagination improves in those who freed from: limiting thinking patterns, complexes, negative states and other mental rubbish. For this purpose, use the Turbo-Suslik () system.

Exercises to develop imagination

There are a large number of exercises for developing imagination. They are suitable for both adults and children.

  • Visualization

This exercise is recommended as a starter exercise. It is designed to train the ability to reproduce and create visual images in detail. You will be able to develop imagination, memory and thinking.
Make a wish for an object. You can start with something simple, like a book. Imagine it down to the smallest detail. Then mentally open it, leaf through it, imagine reading or looking at the pictures. At first it will be a little difficult, although it seems very simple: the images may be unclear and thoughts may slip away. When the visualization of simple objects begins to be easy, move on to more complex ones. In general, this exercise will teach you how to manage your thoughts.

  • New words

Invent and create new words. Name things differently. At first, you will have to work hard to come up with something interesting and successful. But the more you practice, the easier the words will come to mind.

  • Verbal counting

By doing calculations you not only train your imagination, but also your mind. Additionally, you can imagine yourself writing down numbers on paper and doing calculations there.

  • Silent films

Watching movies without sound gives free rein to your imagination. You can not only voice individual phrases or dialogues of the characters, but also come up with an entire story. You can play this game with friends: everyone will choose a hero and speak for him.

  • Associations

This exercise is interesting not only for children, but also for adults. You can play in associations either independently or as a team. Come up with an association for a word: imagine an object or feeling associated with the hidden word. It is very important to explain what exactly connects these two words. This game develops creative thinking well.

  • Reading

When you read a book, try to imagine as clearly as possible everything that happens in the novel or story: characters, houses, rooms, outfits, nature.

  • Studying diagrams and maps

Turn the exercise into a fun, exciting game. Make up a story about a treasure hidden by pirates and try to find it. Or imagine a trip to unknown lands. You can simply follow the map to familiar cities and imagine places you have already visited before.

  • Make up stories

This game is good to play with a group. Come up with an exciting fairy tale and tell it to your friends. The most important thing is that you need to invent a story yourself, on the fly, without preparation.
Modeling situations or hypotheses.
Start the game with the phrase “What if...”. Try to come up with a more incredible hypothesis, and continue the thought in the same spirit. The situation should be as incredible as possible.

  • Hobby

Creative hobbies will help develop your imagination: drawing, knitting, sewing, weaving, beads and much more. Nowadays the choice is huge. Find a hobby that suits your taste, where you can let your imagination run wild. In addition, you will be able to spend time with pleasure, which will be a good vacation.

Those people who know how to develop their imagination have the opportunity not only to train their brains, but also to make their lives brighter. This will help not only in your work, but also in everyday life.

Imagination is a great gift of nature that every person can use, starting from a very young age. This is the ability of inner vision, which is associated with many aspects of our lives. This quality is intended to serve the benefit of a person and help him in real life to achieve what he could see inside himself, in his thoughts and dreams.

Why is it worth developing your imagination?

As a rule, adults rarely think about developing their creativity and imagination. It just so happens that you are taught to be realistic, not to “have your head in the clouds”, not to build illusions and castles in the air. But by neglecting the development of imagination, we can deprive ourselves of many benefits. Let's look at some reasons why it's worth developing your imagination.

Firstly, developed imagination promotes mental flexibility and makes a person’s thinking more productive. So, it would seem, just the ability to dream, but in fact it turns out that fantasy is closely related to the level of intelligence. That is, by developing your imagination, you become smarter!

Secondly, imagination is not a useless function that is needed only for preschoolers to make their childhood more fun. No! Imagination helps us extract from the depths of our subconscious what we were unaware of. For years, our imagination accumulates the energy that is given to every person along with his dreams. At the moment when a person is completely ready to realize what his fantasy has drawn, the accumulated energy is released and gives a powerful push, which allows him to get closer to the goal faster. If you need strength to live a successful life, you cannot neglect the development of your imagination.

Thirdly, thanks to your imagination, you can achieve great heights in your professional activities or business. The modern world is developing at a crazy pace, and every year so many new things appear that creative ideas come in handy. Therefore, a person with a good imagination, capable of coming up with fresh ideas and solutions, will always have a good position and income.

And of course, the power of imagination is your inner strength, which opens up many possibilities for you. Your imagination is where all your success begins. Everything that is created by man today was once born exactly there, in a small part of the brain, which generated and allowed man to see the finished result with his inner vision.

How can you develop your imagination?

Child psychologists now talk a lot about this topic. They are concerned that today's children do not have the same developed imagination as children from previous generations. Of course, everything is blamed on the effects of television and various gadgets. In fact, a TV, smartphone, computer, tablet are useful devices. But they can be harmful to a growing and developing brain.

Why? The reason is the way the information is presented! The simpler and clearer the information presented, the less the brain needs to strain. The imagination is practically not involved when watching a cartoon. But, if a child reads a book or listens to a fairy tale, the areas of the brain associated with creativity and fantasy are immediately activated, because the baby needs to activate inner vision in order to visualize the information received.

The same problem also affects adults. It’s not for nothing that you can often hear that watching TV makes people less inventive, active and experience difficulties even in the simplest thought processes. Simply put, their brains become less flexible. Therefore, first of all, it is better to refuse or minimize receiving information from TV and computer screens. Yes, of course, it’s easier to watch a video rather than read a book, but if you care about your mind and consciousness, and strive to achieve heights in life, you need to sacrifice something. This is the only thing that can interfere with the harmonious development and activation of fantasy.

Let's consider another list of tips that, on the contrary, will contribute to the development of imagination.

There is one simple and yet effective exercise for developing the parts of the brain responsible for creativity. The simplicity is that it can be practiced anywhere, anytime. The point is this. Try to simulate various life situations in your imagination. Scroll through the plot, improvise, draw the smallest details in your head. For example, imagine how in the evening you and a friend met in a cafe over a cup of tea. Try to hear this light music, smell it, and see the interior details.

Another very popular way to develop imagination is reading books. The more often you allow yourself to enjoy a book, the more your brain is loaded, and specifically the part responsible for the power of imagination. The brain is like a muscle; the stronger and more often you strain it, the more productive it will work.

Start writing your thoughts, impressions, emotions. Keep a diary, or just do it periodically when you have a free minute and inspiration. Every time you write down something you've experienced, or just your thoughts, you experience it in a new way and your imagination is used again.

An effective and efficient way to develop fantasy is to communicate with people who have already managed to develop this quality well. Such people are full of energy and ideas; they have many plans and dreams that they would like to realize in their lives. No matter how strange it may sound, this energy is transmitted. Allow yourself to be “infected” by this, plunge into the atmosphere of creation and creativity, and be saturated with this energy.

And of course, don’t forget about other creative activities and hobbies. Perhaps you have an old dream - to learn to draw or crochet. Make up your mind and start doing some creative activities that activate your brain, forcing your imagination to develop.

Remember that by reaching heights in the development of imagination, you can break through in many areas of life. Don't stop and don't let any circumstances get in your way, and then you will have great success!

Development of imagination- a consciously chosen process during which a person pursues the goal of improving his imagination, namely making it brighter, deeper and more special.

What is imagination? Imagination is the ability for the unexpected or intended appearance of any images, ideas, and so on in the mind and thoughts.

What arises in thoughts during an imagination may differ from reality. Imagination– a world separate from reality; thoughts, ideas and objects that do not exist in nature can appear in the imagination. It is imagination that helps in the mind to solve problems that require a visual representation.

For example, how to insert a battery into a watch, mouse, calculator, how to close the lid of a saucepan, how to tighten a nut onto a bolt. These are all too simple and obvious examples. How about playing checkers or chess in your head, or assembling a clock mechanism from gears or a house from a construction set. There are many more examples of the use of imagination.

Imagination is divided into four types, each of which differs significantly from the others:

  1. Active imagination- a person draws at his own request, builds images in his head.
  2. Passive imagination- These are images that arise unexpectedly, regardless of a person’s desire.
  3. Productive imagination is the imagination in which reality is transformed creatively.
  4. Reproductive imagination is the imagination that restores reality as it is. There is a place for fantasy here, but memory and perception work more.

Development of creative imagination

Creative imagination is a type of imagination that is responsible for creating new thoughts, ideas, plots, objects that will be of value. This is how products of creative activity are created.

Creative imagination is the basis of professions related to art. For example:

Writers. Where would we be without creative imagination? Do you want to write beautiful, big, interesting books with a great plot? Or maybe you need to support it? Then you should start developing your creative imagination.

Artists. If you do not paint pictures of nature, people, still lifes, but create them yourself, from your head, then you will also need to develop your creative imagination. Then you will have a lot of ideas, a lot of different options for painting a certain moment of the picture.

Musicians. They, like no one else, need creativity in their work, because composing good music is not easy, it is a decent load on the imagination, and not just imagination, but creative one.

Development of imagination in children

By about 5 years old, children have a good amount of experience, which provides an opportunity for the development of creativity and imagination. Children do not need tips from older people, because now the child himself is able to invent games, come up with heroes and even imaginary friends. Parents should not panic about the latter, because this is a common occurrence in young children. After a while, everything will disappear without leaving a trace.

The main thing is to pay more attention to the child, he needs it vitally. He learns, develops, absorbs everything like a sponge.

And if it suddenly turns out that your child has gone too far into such “reality,” then you need to work with him more, talk, communicate. As a last resort, involve a specialist in this matter who will help cope with the problem and bring the child out of a non-existent reality.

The development of imagination in young children occurs during games. The child creates within himself the logic of the characters’ actions. So remember DO NOT interrupt your child let him finish his game or help him come to completion, do not violate the logic of imagination.

If a child runs up with a stick and asks to look at his “horse,” then there is no need to explain to him that it is just a stick. A child is not a fool and understands this himself, it’s just that his imagination is actively working and developing. You need to support him by saying something like: “Yes, you have a great horse! Look how beautiful and curly her mane is!”

This approach will only speed up the process of developing the child’s imagination. You don’t need to do anything special, you just need to set the direction by saying something abstract, for example: “What a beautiful mane!” And ask the child to describe the horse’s mane.

Development of a child's creative imagination

Childhood is the age of acquaintance with literature, books, films, music. It is important that the child reads bright and colorful books, with an interesting plot and interesting characters. I watched good and smart films and cartoons. Thanks to books, a child will be able to move into the world of fantasy, imagination, and find himself in a fairy-tale world. Books are a great helper for developing a child’s creative imagination. What the film shows, the child, like any other person, creates in his imagination.

You can practice with your child to develop creative imagination. Give your child heroes he knows about.

Ask him to answer the following questions:

  1. What is the essence of each of the heroes?
  2. What are their character traits?
  3. what are the strengths?
  4. what good are they doing?
  5. What is missing in the character and in general in each of the heroes?

And ask him to come up with a story with these characters. If it’s difficult, push it, start the story for your child.

Exercises to develop a child's imagination

Exercise 1. Invite your child to trace his hands on paper with paint or a pencil. This will be the basis for their subsequent drawing. Let the child dream up and draw something. For example, a tree (forest) or a butterfly or flowers, an animal...

Exercise 2. Give your child a choice of 3 colors that, in his opinion, are most suitable for each other. And let him sketch the entire sheet. What does this drawing resemble?

Exercise 3. Ask your child to drop paint in the middle of the sheet. Then have the sheet folded in half. After unfolding, various blots will remain on the sheet. Let the child use his imagination and say what each of them looks like, what it reminds of.

Exercise 4. Give your child sheets with unfinished images and ask them to complete them.

The child’s imagination will play a big role; perhaps, instead of the expected answer, he will depict something unusual and suitable for the initial unfinished drawing.

This will be the result of his perfectly working imagination. It happens that a child needs help, so don’t be upset if it doesn’t work out right away. This is normal and means that you need to work with your child so that he can train himself, because he will have a ton of complex and interesting problems ahead (mathematics, physics, geometry, life situations, etc.), which will require the use of imagination to solve!

Development of imagination in preschool children

The development of preschool children is divided into three stages.

Stage 1- a huge amount of fiction and fantasy. Since during this period the basis is laid for the correct and complete development of the ability of imagination and representation. The stage lasts up to three years.

Stage 2– joint work of fantasies with practice. The child is just learning to build a chain of actions, logic, in order to achieve a result during any task. The stage lasts up to five years.

Stage 3– the child’s activity includes the ability to imagine, fantasize and create. Fantasies become more active and practically applicable.

Exercises to develop imagination in preschoolers

Exercise 1. Ask your child to close his eyes and play classical music. Ask what the child imagined while listening to this music. In addition to classical music, you can use modern music; the more variety, the better.

Exercise 2. This exercise is performed with several children. Play some music with or without words. Ask your child to dance to the music of something or someone. And the other children, watching the dance, must guess what the first child is trying to convey. This exercise develops the imagination of all children.

Exercise 3. This exercise is great for developing creative thinking:

The game leader (an adult) tells the children: “going outside is good, because you can take a walk,” and the children’s goal is to continue the chain, for example: “going outside is good, because it’s good to take a walk.” It’s good to take a walk because it’s useful. It’s good to go for a walk because the weather outside is beautiful. Fine weather is good because the sun is shining. The sun is shining - it’s good because it’s clear. Clear - because there is no rain. There’s no rain because it’s warm.”

Games to develop imagination

Online games are not only easily accessible but also very useful. There is no need to prepare anything in advance, the main thing is that the child rests for about 20-30 minutes every 15-20 minutes, because during these very breaks new neural connections are built in the brain and the better they are built, the greater the progress will be!

This is similar to how an athlete needs to rest after a good exercise or race to allow his muscles to regain strength.

Complex sorting game

The game “complex sorting” is an excellent training for intelligence and attention. In the center of the screen there is a figure with its own color, and around there are 4 different figures, painted in four different colors. It is written how you need to compare the figure given in the center with those around: by color or shape. You need to think in time and not get lost. The game is against the clock, so hurry up to score the most points.

Game "Letters and numbers"

  1. Trains concentration
  2. Improves reaction speed
  3. Develops logic and intelligence

Immediately after the start, one letter and one number will be shown in one of the four windows, for example, “U6”. And under the letter with the number a question will appear, for example, “Is the number odd?” or “Is the letter a consonant?” You need to answer questions as quickly as possible.

Color matrix game

Also an excellent trainer for development of intelligence will become a “color matrix” game. A field of cells will open in front of you, each of which will be painted in one of two colors. And your goal will be to indicate which color is more on the field at the moment, 1st or 2nd. The game, of course, is for a while and therefore you have to try. As the game progresses, the field will expand, that is. the game becomes more difficult.

Game "Simplification"

The game “Simplification” is a wonderful trainer, not only for mental calculation, but also for intelligence. You will come across examples both simple and complex. But not everything is so complicated in reality, you just need to figure out how to simplify, calculate or find the answer from the ones proposed. To do this, you will have to use your intelligence!

Visual search

  1. Develops voluntary attention
  2. Improves concentration
  3. Improves attention span

Figures will appear on the screen, among which you need to choose a unique one that is in no way similar to other figures. Some figures may differ in just one small detail, which you need to learn to quickly find. With each successful round the difficulty increases and more points are given :)

Game "Flank task"

The picture shows a flock of birds, and you will be required to indicate the direction of flight central birds. At first you may be confused, but then it will get better. Go!

Game "Super Memory"

  1. Trains visual memory
  2. Increases memory capacity
  3. Improves memory accuracy

With each move, one new picture appears on the screen. You need to quickly find it and click on it to score as many points as possible in 1.5 minutes. The first 5-7 moves are very easy, and then it becomes noticeably more interesting and difficult.

Tools for developing imagination

Life experience- this is the main means of developing imagination. Communicate with different people, take part in all sorts of competitions, events, find your hobby, but don’t limit yourself to just one!

Reading– one of the best means of developing imagination. Reading opens up a world of imagination and interesting stories. The cooler the plot, the more exciting the book, the more vivid the descriptions - the better for your thinking and imagination. And before you even had time to read to the end, you can imagine what will happen next. And then you compare as you read how well the future events in the work were presented. If you make a mistake, it’s not bad, because it’s almost impossible to guess the plot completely, but the experience that you get when imagining is priceless.

Fantastic– the best genre for developing imagination and creativity. Because science fiction is a brighter genre than others.

Development of thinking and imagination

Thinking and imagination are closely related to each other. Imagination can be considered thinking, only this thinking is higher than reality, it takes you to another world, the world of fantasy. Thinking is a tool that every person has when solving various problems in life.

Thinking can be developed, its speed, depth, freedom, awareness can be changed. Also, thinking can become more accurate, detailed and positive.

How to develop thinking?

Take notes and drawings. Get into the habit of expressing your thoughts in writing or drawings. Some people, when explaining or telling something, not only speak, but also draw, that is, they give you a picture and clarify the situation.

Tell me your thoughts. It will be useful to express your thoughts to others who will be really interested in it. By telling this to someone you can get feedback. Another plus is that the more you tell your thoughts, the more clear they will be for you (if there were any points that were not clear).

Discuss. Discussing thoughts is quite an effective thing. The main thing is that the discussion does not turn into a quarrel. If you suddenly do not agree with your interlocutor’s thesis, then make up your own, but do not start a heated argument, but have a calm conversation.

Watch your speech. Thinking and speech are closely related to each other. Therefore, in order to contribute to the development of thinking, it is worth constructing your speech correctly. Advice: exclude the words “problems”, “horror”, “difficult”, include “interesting”, “goal”.

Why are speech and thinking closely related? Thinking is fleeting and difficult to remember, but speech is a different story. Speech is remembered and easier to follow.

Want to improve your thinking? Pay attention to your speech.

Pay attention to other people's speech. It’s easier to monitor someone else’s speech than your own. Because someone else’s speech is something new and all the shortcomings and failures in logic can be heard in it. Studying the mistakes of other people's speech will help you find mistakes in your own speech.

Improve your skills in working with texts. Analyzing a text can be compared to listening to someone else's speech. In both cases, you look for mistakes, roughness and take notes. Improved thinking depends on word processing skills.

Bottom line

In this article we learned what imagination is, how to develop it for adults and children, what exercises to use, and so on. And also how imagination can be used for practical purposes.

At visualization his dreams When you need to very vividly imagine the moment of fulfillment of this desire, a well-developed creative mind plays an important role. The ability to imagine your desire at the end point is an important component of the fulfillment of your desire. That's about how to develop your imagination, and will be discussed in this article.

Unfortunately, not everyone succeeds. And some even believe that this is not given to them, because they tried it once and saw nothing, they are disappointed and never return to such a good assistant after achieving what they want. Meanwhile, it has been absolutely proven that absolutely everyone is endowed with imagination. Simply, for those who do not use imagination, this function of our body atrophies, but can be “brought back to life” again.

Developing your skill visualize, You develop yours too. You need to understand that there is no perfect way to learn to imagine something in your imagination. After all, each person is individual, so you need to choose the method that is more suitable for you and your feelings. Try the simple methods described below. It is quite possible that they will be suitable for you.

Exercises to develop imagination:

1. Relax, close your eyes, and imagine a number in front of you 1 – red, gradually it changes to digital 2 orange, after which the number 3 appears in yellow. The number 4 will be green and the number 5 will be blue, followed by the number 6, which will be blue, and the last digit 7 purple.

This arrangement of colors in numbers corresponds to the order of colors in the chakras. To make it easy to remember these colors, use a hint familiar to everyone from childhood: Every Hunter Wants to Know Where goes Fazan. This is the arrangement of colors in a rainbow.

2. Pick up some simple object. This could be a notepad, saucer, handkerchief, knitting needle, plastic bottle, mobile phone, etc. Look at it carefully and remember how it feels in your hands, that is, you need to remember exactly your feelings from touching this object. Now put it down and, closing your eyes, try to imagine it in your imagination as best you can. Open your eyes and look at those details of the object that you could not imagine the first time.

It often happens that we look at an object, but then we cannot describe it, because we perceive the object as a whole, without stopping at the little things. Close your eyes again and try to imagine the object with those nuances that you did not notice at first. I think the meaning of the exercise is clear to you. Do this exercise several times throughout the day with different objects. Allow 3-4 minutes for this between tasks.

3. Now let's complicate the task a little. The exercise not only develops imagination, but also memory. You need to take 2-3 simple objects, put them in front of you and remember the location. Closing your eyes, imagine these objects. When you are good at presenting these objects, you can take objects that have a lot of small details, colors or patterns.

4. This exercise is also more complex. You need to imagine any geometric figure: a circle, a square, a pentagon, just a line. When you manage to imagine this figure, try to spin it. Then stop and spin in the other direction. What is important here is not the creation of an object in your imagination, but the unwinding and stopping of a figure that already exists in your imagination.
Try to look at this figure from all sides as it spins. If you do this without much difficulty, then paint each side a certain color and rotate the figure.

5. This is a method where you come up with exercises for yourself. Suppose you are traveling on public transport. Occupy your mind development of imagination. You can imagine anything here.

You can imagine what your living room will look like if the sofa is moved to the middle of the room and the TV is raised from the bedside table to the wall. This is the room with this rearrangement that you should see. Or imagine your living room in a different color scheme.

If you are going to go somewhere, then first imagine yourself in the clothes in which you have already decided to go. And then imagine how you will look if you wear a different blouse. Once you learn how to do the first four exercises, this exercise will be easy. Moreover, the choice of clothes for going out is based on assumptions about how you will look in it, that is, the imagination is already at work.

Fantasizing is not only pleasant, but also useful, so imagination can and even should be developed. But how to do this?

So, how to develop your imagination? Helpful Tips:

  1. Each of us watches TV, but we can do it with the benefit of our imagination. So, turn on a movie or cartoon, but turn off the sound. Watch what is happening on the screen and try to mentally voice the main characters, imagining what they might say. Come up with a plot, think about what the intonation of the characters could be.
  2. If you have recently seen a film or play, you can put yourself in the shoes of one of the characters and think about how you would act in a given situation. Also try to come up with a different ending or even dream up another hero.
  3. If you encounter difficulties, make the best of them. Even if you have found a solution, imagine how the situation could have developed differently. Come up with a few more ways to solve the problem, and not necessarily possible and real ones. For example, you can imagine that you have some unique abilities that can help you.
  4. Dream! Yes, yes, everyone should dream; it helps not only to develop imagination, but also to strive to realize what is planned. For example, if you dream of your own home, then imagine the place in which it will be located. It could even be the seashore or an island. Think through the interior of your home and its façade down to the smallest detail. Mentally arrange the furniture, fantasize about how you live in your new home.
  5. If you have a child, you can connect him too. Make up fairy tales together. Ask your child to come up with one character, and you come up with another. Think together about what the characters do and how they live. Then imagine some amazing event that will change the lives of the characters and the course of the tale. Think about how the characters will behave and how it will all end in the end.
  6. If you travel on public transport, then consider the people. But do it unobtrusively, otherwise your behavior will arouse suspicion. Just look at a person once, capture his image in your memory and imagine his life, his destiny. Imagine what he could do, describe all his family members, his relatives, hobbies, and so on.
  7. A simple technique called “Five Points” will help develop your imagination. Place five dots on the sheet in a chaotic order. Now connect them in such a way that you get some kind of pattern. Then put the five dots again and connect them in a different way. Make several drawings and add to each one to create compositions.
  8. Drawing various processes and phenomena will help the artist train and develop his imagination. For example, try to draw your thoughts, morning in space, night on another planet, some non-existent mythical creature. Images can be abstract, this is welcome. Be sure to add colors, and a variety of bright ones.
  9. You can try to come up with “fan fiction”, like fans of famous films and TV series. In general, “fan fiction” is a backstory, a different version or continuation of a story previously invented by someone. If you have a favorite movie, then think about where it all could have started, how it could have ended differently, how everything could have continued after the ending.
  10. Books, and certainly without pictures, will help you develop your personality in many ways and train your imagination. Read, mentally describe the characters, their facial expressions, thoughts, objects surrounding them.
  11. Try changing your hand sometimes. A specific hemisphere is responsible for each hand (the left is for the right, and the right is for the left). And if you use both, then two hemispheres will work at once, which, of course, will help you think creatively.
  12. Play a fun and interesting "What If" game. Just imagine different unusual phenomena. For example, think about what will happen if a person can fly, if people don’t sleep, if animals start talking, if the sky turns pink, if new brains start selling, and so on. And the more unexpected and sometimes even crazy your thoughts are, the more active your imagination will work.
  13. Creativity, any kind, will help develop imagination. You can draw, write poems or songs, develop new styles of clothing, create soap, sew or embroider, knit, and so on.
  14. Try to come up with unusual names for the most ordinary objects. For example, a fork could be called a “food sticker”, and a spoon a “rotator”. In general, think, associate things with some actions, and make up unusual words from these actions. It's not only fun, but also useful.
  15. Don’t give your friends and family banal gifts, come up with pleasant and unusual surprises. For example, if a friend is involved in business, then give him a “Treasury of Ideas”. Let it be an ordinary jar. Put notes in it with useful tips that you think could help increase your income. If mom is a salesperson, then give her a soft seat for a chair with a “sales engine”, the role of which can be played by springs. In general, fantasize and think creatively in order not only to develop your imagination, but also to please your loved ones.
  16. Look at the clouds and think about what each one looks like. Look at the outlines, don’t think about the real, think abstractly and use your imagination. For example, in a round cloud you can see the face or muzzle of an animal.
  17. You can put blots on a piece of paper and think about what they look like.
  18. Try fortune telling with wax, it's very exciting! Take a saucer and fill it with water. Prepare a candle, light it and drip melting wax into the water. Try to consider objects or even events in the frozen figures that form.
  19. Communicate more with interesting and creative people, it’s interesting and useful. Discuss their ideas, ask them to talk about their thoughts, ask for their opinions.
  20. Look for inspiration. Its source can be travel, new experiences, some interesting hobby, and so on.
  21. Look for unusual solutions to problems. For example, if something is broken, try to carry out a mini-repair using scrap materials, or even replace the item with something else.
  22. Practice visualization. For example, if you are striving for something, then clearly imagine that it has already happened. So, if you are developing a project, think about what its presentation will be, how you will speak, and how your ideas will be approved.

Let these tips help you learn to use your imagination and think creatively!
