A student's reading diary on literature at school. Sample design, title page, full templates in Word

Dear friends!

The long-awaited summer holidays have arrived; briefcases and textbooks have been put aside. But, despite the holidays, all schoolchildren received a list of books that need to be read over the summer. Many teachers also ask to keep a reading diary.

We bring to your attention our version of the reader's diary. We tried to design it in such a way that it would not only be useful, but also interest you. A reading diary is not just a notebook that needs to be filled out and then forgotten. This is an irreplaceable assistant! It will not only teach you how to determine the genre of a work and the main characters, but will also help you learn to find the main theme of a work, learn to express your thoughts briefly and clearly, and expand your vocabulary. In addition, you will no longer forget your impressions of the work you read, and you will not forget the author. Your completed reading diary will also help you when writing essays.

To keep a diary, you will need a folder with files, A5 folder format. In the archive you will find the following sheets:

This material is intended for personal use only. It is STRICTLY PROHIBITED to publish it in other online publications.

Prepared by Natalya Vlasova

This year, for my 2nd grade students, I prepared mini reader diaries, with which you can achieve several goals:

1) all the children know in advance what they need to read for extracurricular reading;

2) the children receive a list of age-appropriate books that they can read just for themselves;

3) monitoring of what is read is carried out, as well as control of reading consciousness (i.e., does the child understand what he is reading);

4) the child’s attitude towards reading is determined (mini-essay);

5) and, finally, the child’s general attitude towards the tasks that are given to him is determined: the level of responsibility, organization, etc.

5) I also make my work easier because I organize it in advance.

I hope that my 2nd grade reader's diary will be useful to you too. I am posting it below.

I AM READING!

Mini essay

The point of a reading diary is for a person to be able to remember when and what books he read, what their plot was. For a child, this can be a kind of cheat sheet: for example, coming to school after the summer holidays during extracurricular reading lessons, a child, with the help of a diary, can remember what books he read, who the characters are in the book and what the essence of the plot is.

In the primary grades, a reading diary helps train the child’s memory, teaches him to analyze a work, understand it, find the main thing and express his thoughts, but it also has a controlling function: both parents and teachers need to check how often and how much the child reads: only through constant exercises In reading, the child will learn to read quickly and, therefore, will be able to fully study in high school.

There are no clear requirements on how to keep and format a reading diary - this is decided by each teacher, taking into account the characteristics of the class or a particular child. In elementary school, the reading diary uses a minimum of columns; in high school, the teacher may require a more accurate description of each book read.

Reader's diary design templates

Many adults do not pay enough attention to the format and appearance of the reading diary, and children do not feel the desire to fill them out. But let's think: what are the child's motives for reading? Why does he read (especially children under 6th grade)? Why is he filling out the diary? It is unlikely that at this age he does this consciously; most likely, he was simply “forced”. But we must remember that children may simply be interested in working in a large and beautiful notebook, filling out tablets, etc. Therefore, we propose to pay special attention to the design of the reader’s diary and offer several templates.

Types of reader's diaries

Depending on the goal pursued by the teacher, several types of diaries can be distinguished:

  • a diary report on the number of pages read silently or aloud, notes from parents who read with the child. There may be the following columns: number, title of the work and full name of the author, number of pages read, type of reading (aloud and silent), parent signature. Used in primary classes.
  • diary report on books read. Only book titles, author names, reading dates (June 2014, August 2014, etc.) are taken into account. There may also be “marginal notes,” that is, brief remarks about the book.
  • diary-cheat sheet with mini-analysis of works. Let's talk about it in more detail.

What should be in a reader's diary and how to fill it out?

  • Full name of the author of the work
  • Title of the work
  • Number of pages
  • Genre of the work (poem, novel, short story, etc.)
  • In what year was the work written? What is this year known for in history? What was the situation in the country where the author lived?
  • Main characters. You can simply indicate their names, but you can also give a brief description: age, connections with other characters (older brother, father, friend, etc.), appearance, favorite activities, habits, you can give the page numbers on which the author gives the characteristics to the hero. Do you want to be like a hero? Why?
  • The plot, that is, what the book is about.
  • Review of the book.
  • List of key episodes in the book with page numbers.
  • The era in which the work takes place, or specific years. Who was in power then? In what country or city does the action take place?

High school students can also provide additional information:

  • List of critical literature by work or author.
  • Extracts of your favorite phrases and expressions.
  • Brief biography of the writer.

In addition to the usual information, you need to give your child the opportunity to draw in a reader’s diary, do crosswords, scanword puzzles, puzzles, also write a letter to the author of the book or characters, etc.

How to create a reader's diary? Before answering, you need to think: “Why keep a reading diary?” This is exactly the question students mutter under their breath as they fill out several notebook sheets by hand. But the diary is not just a whim of teachers.

In elementary school, this method helps teach a child to work with texts, understand and remember what they read. The ability to extract very brief content from a large text, to structure information using a template - all this is considered basic skills for successful self-education. In the future, the reader's diary greatly helps in understanding the works and the thoughts the author put into them. This is a complex function of human thinking, which forms the ability to independently compose deep thoughts on certain issues. Therefore, she also needs training. Adults, using a reading diary, for example, can conduct a psychological analysis of themselves, describing what in the book touched them, what they found interesting, and what they did not like at all.

So, the reader's diary is a kind of “Marauder's Map” from Harry Potter, it must be used wisely. It is the deliberate application of this technique that will give the most positive result, not only in the quality of reading, but also in the quality of your thoughts.

How to lead?

How do people who get the most positive effect keep a reading diary? There is only one answer: in writing. There are numerous studies showing that handwriting makes the brain work more actively, developing thinking and memory. We can conclude that it is better to keep a reading diary in writing, especially during school, if you are concerned about the quality of the work you have done.

If we are talking about school, then each teacher has his own requirements for how to fill out a reading diary. Sometimes it may depend on the class of study. But you can still derive an approximate list of criteria to fill out, here are the basic ones:

  1. Full name of the author of the work;
  2. Title of the work;
  3. Year the work was written;
  4. Genre of the work (poem, novel, story, etc.);
  5. Briefly the plot of the work.

These criteria can be supplemented and complicated. For example, it is permissible to indicate the main characters, their characteristics and connections with other characters in the book, and provide the author’s biography if it is somehow related to the work. Also, in the “year of writing” criterion, you can briefly provide historical information, for example, what was the situation in the country, what significant event was touched upon in the work (for example, when analyzing Turgenev’s novel “Fathers and Sons,” it is important to remember the abolition of serfdom that occurred in 1861 ).

It is advisable to write brief retellings yourself, as this will allow you to analyze the work more deeply and better remember the plot. There is no need to rewrite all chapters in detail. Describe the main actions of the work, mark important details, write down what is difficult to remember. Remember that in the future you will need to use the entries in the diary, so make them as clear and convenient as possible for you personally.

What is a review?

Review is one of the most interesting parts of a reader's diary. Here you need to describe your own feelings and thoughts from the book you read. What could be easier and more interesting? However, we remind you that complex mental activity must be sufficiently developed for a person to be able to freely express opinions about books. Therefore, at first the child can say his answers to questions, which the parent will write down for him. With each feedback, things become easier for the child, and he can write down the answers himself, following a clear structure. Over time, the student becomes bored with following the template, and this is a clear sign that he can try to write a free review, without strict boundaries. At this stage, it is also necessary to have someone read and correct the feedback, showing the child how written language can be enriched. As you can see, such complex, team work not only helps to make it easier for the student to work on essays in the future, for example, but also reveals his literary talents.

Here are examples of questions that can be answered in a review:

  1. What is the main idea of the work?
  2. What do you remember about the main characters? What character traits and actions aroused your emotions?
  3. What do you remember from the book?
  4. What seemed unusual?
  5. What moments in the book made you think?
  6. What did you think about after reading the book? What did the book teach you?
  7. Do you want to re-read the book again and why?
  8. Would you like to read books by the same author? Which of them?
  9. Would you recommend this book to others? Why?
  10. Draw parallels between the events of the book and other works of culture (books, movies, animated series, paintings, etc.).

This list of questions can be used as a review plan, tailored to the student's grade level. A free-style review is more like a short essay, which, of course, has a beginning, middle and end. However, it is much easier to demonstrate your writing talent in this format.

Design example

Let's briefly discuss the external design of your notes, as it can become a separate practice for developing creative abilities. Of course, the design of the reader’s diary also depends on the teacher’s requirements, but even ordinary signs can be designed in an interesting and bright way.

If you like to draw, then you can make sketches based on the work, draw portraits of the characters. This is also a good way to remember and comprehend the work, and many artists often take plot and inspiration from books. So you shouldn’t be afraid to decorate your reader’s diary in a colorful way.

1 class

  • Full name of the author of the work: Kataev Valentin Petrovich;
  • Title: “Seven-flowered flower”;
  • Year of writing: 1940;
  • Genre: Fairy tale;

Main characters:

  1. Girl Zhenya,
  2. Old lady (gave Zhenya a seven-flowered flower),
  3. Zhenya's mom
  4. Vitya (the lame boy whom Zhenya helped).

Very short summary:

Zhenya goes to get the bagels. On the way, a dog ran up to her and ate all the bagels. The girl noticed the loss late, so she tried to catch up with the dog. She ended up in an unknown place. She met an old woman. She took pity on Zhenya and gave her an unusual, magical flower with seven petals. If you tear off one of them along with the spell, then any wish will come true. Zhenya thanked the old lady for such a generous gift, but she didn’t know how to get home. The girl had to tear off a petal, read a spell and wish for her to return home with the bagels. And so it happened! Zhenya decided to put such a wonderful flower in a vase, but accidentally broke her mother’s favorite vase. Mom heard the noise, the girl was afraid of punishment, so she restored the vase with the help of a flower. Mom didn’t suspect anything and told Zhenya to go for a walk in the yard. The girl wanted to prove to the boys in the yard that she would be at the real North Pole. She made a wish with a flower and ended up at the cold pole, where she met real bears! She got scared and decided to go back to the yard. Then Zhenya saw toys in the girls’ yard. Feeling envious, the heroine wished for herself all the toys in the world. And they began to pour in from all sides, filling all the space that the child had to make a wish for it all to disappear. Now Zhenechka has only one petal left. She began to think about how to spend it wisely. Either she wanted candy or new sandals. Suddenly Zhenya saw a good boy Vitya on a bench. The girl called him to play, but he could not because he was lame. Then Zhenya wished for Vitya to be healthy. He immediately recovered and began to play with his savior.

Review:

The main idea of the work, it seems to me, is that you should not waste opportunities on all sorts of trifles. Zhenya spent as many as six petals on little things and on the desire to prove something to someone. Thanks to these actions, I didn’t like Zhenya, but when she helped Vita, I was happy. I remember how Zhenya wished for all the toys in the world, and they fell on her from all sides. After all, when she wished for all the toys, she didn’t think about how much it was. The most unusual thing about the work is how easily the scene of action changes within it. Now Zhenya is in the yard, now at home, now at the North Pole. This book taught me compassion, kindness, mutual assistance, and help. You need to think first about others, about what is important, and not about fleeting desires. Of course, I would recommend this book to other children, and maybe even their parents. Because Zhenya’s example clearly shows the harm of selfishness.

2nd grade

  • Full name of the author of the work: anonymous;
  • Title of the work: “The Frog Princess”;
  • Year of writing: unknown;
  • Genre: Russian folk tale.

Main characters:

  1. Ivan Tsarevich (youngest son),
  2. Vasilisa the Wise (turned by Koshchei into a frog),
  3. Baba Yaga,
  4. Tsar,
  5. Elder and Middle brothers,
  6. Brothers' wives
  7. Koschei the Deathless.

Very short summary:

The king called his three sons to him. He told his sons that they needed to look for brides. He proposed to carry out the search in this way: shoot an arrow, where it falls, there the wife will be found. The eldest son had a boyar's daughter, the middle one found a merchant's daughter, and the youngest, Ivan Tsarevich, brought a frog. Weddings took place. The king came up with the idea of giving his sons' wives assignments. Either bake bread or create a carpet. The best bread and carpet came from Ivan Tsarevich’s wife, the frog. Then the Tsar said that his sons should come to the royal feast in order to see which wife danced better. Ivan Tsarevich went to the feast alone, as the Frog Princess told him. And suddenly a gilded carriage arrived at the holiday, and Vasilisa the Wise came out of it. And the Princess turned out to be better at dancing. But Ivan Tsarevich returned to the house from the feast earlier, found the skin of a frog and burned it. Vasilisa the Wise realized, but there was no skin anywhere. She turned into a swan and flew away, saying that Tsarevich Ivan would find her in the kingdom of Koshchei the Immortal. Ivan Tsarevich grieved, but got ready to go. On the way he met an Old Man who told him how the Princess Koschey the Immortal had bewitched. He gave the traveler a magic ball that would show him the way. Ivan Tsarevich thanked the Old Man and set off on his way. He led his ball to the Hut on Chicken Legs, and Baba Yaga was in it. She suggested how to defeat Koshchei. And, having fulfilled all the conditions, Ivan Tsarevich won, and Koschey the Immortal crumbled into dust. He found Vasilisa the Wise, took the best horse from Koshcheev’s stable and returned with his beloved to his native kingdom.

Review:

The fairy tale “The Frog Princess” teaches us that we should not judge someone just by their outer appearance. Although Ivan Tsarevich was embarrassed by the Frog Princess, she coped with the Tsar’s instructions better than anyone else. Each time, the Frog patiently, without being offended, calmed the grieving Ivan Tsarevich when he returned from the Tsar with his next task. Therefore, I think that this fairy tale is also about trust in loved ones who wish you only the best. I remember how the wives of the eldest and middle brother repeated after Vasilisa the Wise and hid bones, wine and other scraps in their pockets, not knowing why she was doing this. As a result, they found themselves in a stupid situation, and the moral is simple: you shouldn’t mindlessly repeat after someone else. I also thought about how generous the Old Man was for helping Tsarevich Ivan by giving him a magic ball. This teaches us that we need to help others in difficult situations if possible. Therefore, I want all children to read Russian folk tales, in which simple and important life values are preserved.

3rd grade

  • Full name of the author of the work: Vladimir Fedorovich Odoevsky;
  • Title of the work: “City in a Snuffbox”;
  • Year of writing: 1834;
  • Genre: fairy tale.

Main characters:

  1. Misha,
  2. Daddy,
  3. Mama,
  4. Bell boy
  5. Mr. Valik,
  6. Queen Spring,
  7. Hammers.

Very short summary:

Dad showed his son Misha a wonderful snuff box. On its lid was the magical town of Tinkerbell with golden houses. Dad touched the spring, and beautiful music began to play. Under the lid of the snuffbox there were bells and hammers. Misha wanted to visit such a wonderful town. Papa said that you need to carefully monitor the device inside the snuff box, but under no circumstances touch the spring, otherwise everything will break. The boy watched and watched, and suddenly the Bell from the town called him to visit. Misha immediately accepted the invitation. The bell showed Misha how perspective works, and the boy understood how to correctly draw Mama playing the piano and Papa, who sits further on the chair. Bell then introduced the guest to the other bell boys. Misha told them that they were living well: no lessons, no teachers, music playing all day. The bells objected that they were very bored, since they had nothing to do all day, no pictures, books, dad, mom. In addition, evil bells are knocking on them! Misha felt sorry for his new friends and asked the hammers why they were doing this to the bell boys. And the hammer men replied that they were being ordered by a certain Mr. Valik.

The hero went straight to him, and Mr. Valik was lying on the sofa, fidgeting. And Valik said that he was a kind warden and did not order anything. And suddenly the boy in the golden tent saw Queen Spring, who was pushing Mr. Valik. Misha asked her why she was pushing Valik in the side, and Spring answered that without this nothing would work, and the music wouldn’t play. Misha wanted to check if she was telling the truth, but pressed the queen with his finger. And the spring burst! Everything stopped. Misha was scared, because Dad didn’t tell him to touch the spring, and that’s why he woke up. Dad and Mom were nearby, he told them about his dream.

Review:

Odoevsky's tale is interesting because it tells about complex, perhaps even boring, phenomena in an entertaining way. The mechanism of the snuffbox's operation is figuratively shown, which proves that all phenomena are interconnected, every detail is important in the overall matter. I remember the main character, Misha, because he is very well-mannered, politely communicates with every character, even with the evil guys-hammers. It is worth taking an example from him. I remember the episode when Bell showed Misha how perspective works and now the boy knows how to correctly arrange the details on the sheet. It’s also interesting that the bell boys just played all day long, and that made them bored. This shows the need to love the work and benefits that we have in our lives, because they are what give it meaning. Of course, I would like to recommend this fairy tale to others, because it is kind, interesting and unusual.

4th grade

  • Full name of the author of the work: Anton Pavlovich Chekhov;
  • Title of the work: Thick and thin;
  • Year of writing: 1883
  • Genre: story

Main characters:

  1. Porfiry (fat),
  2. Mikhail (thin),
  3. Louise (Mikhail's wife),
  4. Nathanael (son of Michael).

Very short summary:

Somehow the station on the Nikolaevskaya Railway brought together two people who had not seen each other for a long time. Friends who studied together at the gymnasium, fat Porfiry and thin Mikhail, were very happy about this meeting. We remembered how someone was teased, what someone looked like in their youth. Thin introduced Tolstoy his wife and son. But then, friends started talking about who had risen to whom. Thin Mikhail has been working as a Collegiate Assessor for two years, and Fat Porfiry is already a Privy Councilor. Thin did not expect this, and therefore immediately began to address his old friend as his boss. Tolstoy did not like this change in his friend, he felt unpleasant, but Thin continued to communicate in the same tone. Therefore, Porfiry decided to end the conversation, and Thin was surprised along with his family at such a high-ranking friend.

Review:

I love the stories of Anton Pavlovich Chekhov, because they show various situations from life in a figurative, funny, and detailed way. For example, the story “Thick and Thin” shows how pure friendship is distorted under the influence of rank. As soon as Thin learned about Tolstoy’s rank, he immediately began to babble in front of him, although Tolstoy asked not to do this, because positions are not so important in such a pleasant meeting. However, shuffling around in front of his superiors was very familiar to Thin, so he continued to behave this way. Thin could have behaved differently, then, I think, the conversation between friends would have turned out differently. Of course, I advise everyone to read this story. In general, I want to read all of Chekhov's stories, because they are funny and interesting.

5th grade

  • Full name of the author of the work: Ivan Sergeevich Turgenev;
  • Title of the work: “Mumu”;
  • Year of writing: 1854 (The story is based on a real story that happened in the house of Varvara Petrovna Turgeneva, the writer’s mother. The prototype of Gerasim was the serf peasant Andrei, nicknamed Mute).
  • Genre: story

Main characters:

  1. Gerasim,
  2. Mu Mu,
  3. Lady,
  4. Gavrila,
  5. Kapiton Klimov,
  6. Tatiana.

Very short summary:

A lonely lady lives in a house on a remote Moscow street. Her janitor Gerasim, who has been deaf and mute since birth, works for her. He performed his work conscientiously and lived separately from other servants. A year later, the lady decides to marry the drunkard shoemaker Kapiton Klimov to the pretty blond washerwoman Tatyana. But Gerasim likes the girl. The butler Gavrila, who was tasked with bringing everything to the wedding, is afraid of Gerasim, wondering how to get him away from the bride. He persuades the girl to pretend to be drunk, since Gerasim does not like drunkards, and to pass by him. The insidious plan works, Gerasim, tormented, abandons his love. The wedding between Kapiton and Tatiana took place, but it did not turn out to be a happy family. The lady sends the couple to another village. Touchingly, Gerasim hands Tatiana a red handkerchief and wants to see her off, but doesn’t dare.

When Gerasim was returning, he saved a drowning puppy. Nursed him. The dog quickly becomes very beautiful. Gerasim named her Mumu. The lady noticed the dog and ordered it to be brought to her, but Mumu got scared and began to growl. The lady got angry and ordered to get rid of the dog. The footman sells her, but Mumu herself returns to Gerasim. Then Gerasim realized that all this was the work of the lady, so he hides the dog. But everything is in vain. Gavrila conveys the lady's order to Gerasim. Gerasim takes on this terrible task. He feeds Mumu, swims out to the river with her, says goodbye and throws her into the water. After this, he hastily collected his things and leaves for his native village, where he is welcome.

Review:

The sad story of Ivan Sergeevich Turgenev inevitably leads to reflection. At the whim of the lady, Gerasim is torn away from his usual life, he suffers humiliation and the machinations of other servants. Starting with Gerasim's touching love story, you can't help but empathize with this hero. Not only did the lady, by her decree, not create family happiness between the two servants, but she also took away Gerasim’s love. The lady treats her peasants like puppets: she either orders them to get married, or freely disposes of Gerasim’s dog without asking him. What patience Gerasim has! He carried out the cruel order of the lady, who was not pleased with the dog, but at the same time he immediately left, showing his disobedience to her orders. Yes, Gerasim committed a terrible act by killing Mumu, because he could have gone with her to his native village. But fulfilling the order shows the dependence of the peasants on the master, which makes their life beyond their control. Do you feel sorry for Gerasim? I personally feel sorry for him. It’s also a pity for the other characters who fell under the tyranny of a bored lady. A very sad story that I would not recommend reading to those who are deeply hurt by the death of animals. From additional sources I learned that the story is based on real events that took place in the house of Turgenev’s mother. And this fact makes it even worse.

6th grade

  • Full name of the author of the work: Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin;
  • Title of the work: “Dubrovsky”;
  • Year of writing: 1841 (It is based on the story of Pushkin’s friend about a poor nobleman who had a lawsuit with a neighbor for land and was forced out of the estate. Left with only peasants, he began to rob).
  • Genre: novel

Main characters:

  1. Andrey Dubrovsky,
  2. Kirila Troekurov,
  3. Vladimir Dubrovsky,
  4. Masha Troekurova,
  5. Prince Vereisky.

Summary:

Kirila Petrovich Troekurov lived in the old estate. He is rich and well connected. At the same time, he was spoiled and had a limited mind. Andrei Gavrilovich Dubrovsky, once his comrade in the service, visited him. But the neighbors are quarreling. Troekurov takes advantage of his connections and deprives Dubrovsky of his estate. This drives poor Dubrovsky crazy, and he begins to get sick. Vladimir, Dubrovsky's son, is informed about the misfortune, and he urgently goes to his dying father. As a result, the old man dies, Vladimir, in despair, sets fire to the estate, which burns with the court officials there. He and his peasants go to the forests to rob. Afterwards, he negotiates with the French teacher Deforge, and instead of him gets a job as a tutor in Troekurov’s house. Soon feelings appear between him and Troekurov's daughter Masha. But Troekurov gives away his very young daughter to Prince Vereisky, who has already lived for half a century. Dubrovsky wants to free the girl from marriage against her will. But it turned out to be too late. Having surrounded the prince’s crew with his accomplices, Vladimir frees Masha, but she says that she has already made an oath and cannot break it. Dubrovsky is wounded by the prince, asks his robbers not to touch the newly made groom and leaves. Afterwards he hides abroad.

Review:

Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin’s novel “Dubrovsky” may appeal to many who read it at school. It contains a gang of robbers and their deeds, love that has obstacles, terrible stories, for example, the tests of guests by Troekurov. Of course, I didn’t like the ending, since I would like to wish only happiness to the brave Dubrovsky, ready to make great sacrifices. But after some reflection, you realize that the novel could not have ended differently for the characters. After all that Dubrovsky had done, would the prince and Troekurov simply leave them and Mashenka alone? And how would Masha refuse the oath? Don't think. It seems to me that Pushkin just showed that after noble, but robbery deeds in real life, “Robin Hood” will not find happy love. Yes, Vladimir is doing everything possible. An ordinary and honest person has to become a robber, and this is the only way out in the current circumstances to protect the honor of the family. The lack of rights of the peasants and the tyranny of the landowners is another theme that Pushkin showed in the novel. I will definitely read more books by Alexander Sergeevich, for example, the novel “The Captain's Daughter”. I would like as many people as possible to become acquainted with this great author.

The structure of a schoolchild's reading diary. Recommendations for compilation, advice.

Student's reading diary. What is a reader's diary for? Many people love to read books. In order to better comprehend the work and preserve the impression of what they read, they often start so-called reading diaries. The point of a reading diary is that over time a person can remember what books he read, what their plot was, the main characters and what the person experienced when reading the book.
For a schoolchild, a reading diary becomes a kind of cheat sheet: for example, when coming to school after the summer holidays for literature lessons, a student can use a diary to remember what books he has read, who the main characters of the book are and what the main idea of the work is.
In the elementary grades, a reading diary helps develop a child’s memory, teaches him to think and analyze a work, understand it, find the main thing and express his thoughts. At first, parents should help the child figure out where the main characters are in the work and what main idea the author wants to convey. To do this, it is necessary to discuss the book in great detail. This will help the student not only quickly and correctly fill out the diary, but also teach him to express his thoughts clearly and clearly.

What will the reader's diary be like?

There are no strict requirements for the design of a reader's diary. But it’s still nice if it’s colorful, bright and emotional. Ideally, it will become both a child’s favorite “picture book” and a source of pride.
It is better to take a squared notebook as the basis for a reading diary. On the cover, write “Reader’s Diary” and indicate the owner’s first and last name. You can decorate the cover (for example, with drawings for books) at your discretion. Older students can design the cover in the form of scrapbooking, or use the technique of drawing zentangles and doodling.

Title page

The reader's diary begins with a title page, which contains basic information: last name, first name of the student, school number, class. The notebook should have a title: “Reader’s Diary” “Reader’s Diary” “I Read with Pleasure.” The title page (cover) of the diary can be beautifully designed.

Diary spread

Starting from page 2-3, you can think about the general design - column frames, heading fonts, logo. Reviews of books are written in blue ink, but headings and underlines can be colored.

You can think of pages for those special books that you liked: “My golden collection”, “I recommend reading”, “Read it, you won’t regret it!”

Each page (or spread of the notebook) is a report on the book read.

Reminder for keeping a reader's diary

1. It is better to fill out the diary immediately after you read the book or the next day. In this case, the memories will be fresh, and if necessary, you can turn to the book.

2. From time to time it is necessary to look through the diary - then knowledge of the contents and impressions about the book will be fixed in memory.

3. If the work is large or the child still does not read well, then in the “Date” column write the start and end date of reading the book.

4. At the end of the review there should be a place for the child’s personal opinion about the work, attitude towards what he read.

6. An illustration is an excellent aid for retaining what you read in your memory. How to make it? You can draw a picture for a child yourself, or you can have an adult help you draw it. Don't know how to draw? Then copy the picture from the book and color it. But it’s better for the child to draw it himself, then both visual and muscle memory will be used. The illustration can be placed in the “Title of the work” column under the title itself, or in the “Main idea of the work” column, illustrating memorable points.

7.IMPORTANT! You cannot write reviews of abridged versions of books from textbooks. You must read the work completely, feel it and leave a memory of it in your reading diary.
